Has anyone else ever glanced at a word and had to stop a second because you thought that word was LOTR-related? I have seen:

Billabong - Balrog
Star! - Istari

There were a few more too, but I can't remember them. It's weird though- makes you think you're crazy!

Do I ever! And sometimes you actually see words that are middle earth related (to people like you and me anyways)

We drove by a building that said "Orc"

Instead of Enterprise, some buisnesses shorten to "Ent"

Anywho, here are some halucinations of mine.

Acorn: Aragorn

Boring: Boromir (no offense meant to Boromir!)

River: Rivendell

And the other day my dad couldn't remember the meaning of a word so he asked me "Grace, do you know what narcism means?" I nearly replied "Oh, that's Aragorns, but it's reforged now". I have more but I can't seem to think of them. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Agg! Yes!

Hello!-Mellon

There are more but I can't remember them as well. Ag! I remember I thought something said Elrond once...

Random bits from the movie will pop into my head at times as well. This weekend we were supposed to be at a certain place, but couldn't find it. And we were in a huge city that I'm not used to, I've lived in the boonies so long. I kept thinking "I have no memory of this place" and the music for that scene was running through my head the whole time. Yeah, that's when I saw the building that said "Orc".

Boring: Boromir (no offense meant to Boromir!)

I read this the same way. How depressing. smilies/wink.gif

Far away: Faramir
Ballhog: Balrog
Argon (the element): Aragorn

There's a sign in my hometown that has "Rivendell" on it. I should take pictures.

There's a neighborhood, complex, thing near me that's called Brandywine, if that counts for anything. Let's see......

habit => hobbit (This has given me an unfortunate tendency to spell habit with two b's. smilies/eek.gif yikes.)

I'll be back if I think of more...

I just did the dumbest thing at the store. There was a sign saying that "Greenleaf Lettuce" was on sale. Naturally, I thought it said, "Greenleaf Legolas" and had to do a second and third take. Someone shoot me.

LOL!!! I've done that quite a few times. The first time it happened I was like, They can't sell Legolas. Wait... that's not Legolas, that's lettuce. Oh yeah... it is lettuce... And the thing was, I had said it out loud, so everyone was looking at me in a weird way. BTW, welcome to the Downs, Vuelve!!

Sometimes when I see Elton John written somewhere, I think it says Elrond & vice-versa. & if it counts for anything, my friend's dad always asks why all these girls love "LEGLESS". BTW I never knew that there was a real Brandywine River until I watched the History Channel.

Man, I do this soooo many times. token= Tolkien, boron= Boromir, argon= Aragorn or Agronath, habit= hobbit, but there's also a famous poet from my city named John Greenleaf Whittier and I'm like, "Wow, is he related to Legolas? Nah... he's a boring old poet." smilies/tongue.gif I also connect mirror with miruvor, peregrin falcon (a bird)= lil old Pip, and The Sims somehow gets repeatedly called The Silmarillion. You'd think I'd know by now that it doesn't. smilies/rolleyes.gif There was a time I was in a book store and they had a sign on a book shelf that said J-R. Yes I thought it said J.R.R. Hee hee, Shy Hobbit! smilies/biggrin.gif

I saw some actor named Richard Olyphant or something of the sort and almost died laughing. Mom was the only other one who got it.

I was also writing last night and chanced to write "familiar", only I made a mistake and wrote "faramir". So I scribbled it out, shaking my head and started to write it again. "Faramir" popped up again... and again. So I have three scribbles in one sentence where "familiar" became "faramir". Shoot me.

Wow...I'm not alone! Every time I hear/read anything about the battle of the Argonne Forest(WWI)I always have to look at it again...for some odd reason I always think Aragorn. There's also a street sign where I live that says Loth Lorian. Needless to say, I often get confused with that one.

In school we're reading a book called Across 5 Aprils, it's about the Civil War, and the general store owner's name is Sam Gardiner. I often accidentally call him Sam Gamgee smilies/biggrin.gif . And there's a mean guy in the town named Guy Wortman, and I always accidentally call him Grima Wormtongue. Then the schoolmaster's name is Shadrach, but once I called him Shagrat. smilies/rolleyes.gif Oh yeah, NEVER read that book. Yesterday I was in the car and on the radio the guy was all "Now for your E-M-T 411!" and to my mom I said "What? Did he say E-N-T? ENT? Hahahaa!" Then I was peeking at this book and it said Realms of Valor and I was like "VALINOR?!? Oh, damn. Valor." Then I was in the Body Shop and I saw a tube with 'Gingko Biloba' on it, and I thought it said Gingko Bilbo. Lastly, in our province there is a town called Gimli. I saw it on the news and I said, "Hee hee! Gimli! You know, from Lord of the Rings!...The dwarf's name is Gimli. You know, Gimli!...Yeah, I'll shut up now."

There is apparently some clothing company called Croft and Barrow. Whenever I see their clothing, I go, "Barrow-Downs? Where?" And, if I see it out of the corner of my eye, I think I'm looking at something related to the Lord of the Rings, which causes a very audible gasp and spin, which leads to some very strange looks from other people.

There is a region in Spain named Aragon. Needless to say I always seem to confuse that one. Every time I see the words fellowship or ring, no matter what context they are in, I start thinking about LOTR and then realize that whatever it was that I read was intended to mean something different. This often causes horrible puns, bcause one of my friend's last names is Ring. Heehee. smilies/biggrin.gif I somehow think that Boron is similar to Sauron... don't ask. There is a street in my neighborhood called Greenleaf. That always produces laughs. That's all for now. I'll go think of more word hallucinations I've had.

How about "Shagrat, Grishnakh, and Abednigo"? We were talking about the original three in my Sunday School class and that leapt to my mind. My friend and I giggled over it for a good ten minutes, until our teacher told us to be quiet.

Another Sunday School one: Solomon => Saruman. We were reading this section about him and everytime someone read the name Solomon I wanted to yell, "It's Saruman!! Get it right!" smilies/mad.gif But, yeah, I didn't, but I should've...

Sometimes if i'm really in a LOTR cloud, I could see the weirdest things, but forget them later. But I once went to this youth group thing at a camp, and the fist thing I noticed was that the main lodge was called Rivendail. Then after I noticed pictures on the wall, hand drawn saying Bilbo, Gandalf, and all the gang. Turns out that our whole thing was based on LOTR, it was weird but I got to be in team Frodo!!! The pictures were really cool to.

I love when they do this to me. I remember they had an X-Men-related question at one time on another game show. I heard the clue (can't even remember what it was, or the name of the show) from my position in the kitchen. One time I saw a question on a Jeopardy special with child contestants. The question was something or other about which book had to do with J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and then named four books, one of which was Tom Shippeys the Road to Middle Earth. Needless to say, I knew the answer. The kid who answered the question got it wrong. What does any of this have to do with word hallucinations?

Anyways, back on topic, if there are any Les Miz fans here, or people who've read the book, then they should who Lesgles is. The first time I read his name, I immediately though, 'What the...?!?! How did Legolas get there?!?!' Then I realised that Legolas and Lesgles were two different, albeit fictional, people. I also got sweet 'lil Gavroche and Gorbachev mixed up in History once.

I work for an insurance company, and an agent sent in an application for a beauty salon. He had hand-written (instead of typed) the name of the business. He had written (& misspelled): SALLON ON THE CREEK. I read: SAURON ON THE CREEK.

The word was Hermesn. My character's name in the RPG was Hermesin!!! Sorry, I'm a little over-excited, but finding something so close to an RPG name in a school wordsearch??? smilies/eek.gif

Another thing is this(In the Footsteps of the Gray company as well):

Interesting topic.

There's a page in the JC Penney catalog that says "Sizewise" in big letters. The first time I saw that page, I did a double take. "Samwise??? What in the world is Sam's name doing in there???" Then I realized that it actually said "Sizewise." However, a bit of a shock hits me every time I go by that page.

This technically isn't a word halucination, but it IS a case of LOTR on the brain. My old boss' name was Erin. One day, I was reminding myself to ask her something. "Got to ask Arwen about this before I leave. Got to ask Arwen... Wait, ARWEN??" I never actually slipped and called her that to her face, but I found myself calling her Arwen in my thoughts. Argon the element reminds me of Argon son of Fingolfin. One time I saw the name Arthur and I thought of Arothir the second king of Nargothrond.

This morning my friend and I went to the school library because she had to check a book out (or something like that) and I saw a book title that made me stop and stare. I saw "Elf Matters" I'm thinking, "Hmmm... that's a bit odd..." I look to see who it's by and I see that it's written by Dr. Phil. I started to think I was crazy! "Elf Matters" by Dr. Phil? It was only then that I realized that it was "Self Matters"... Let's just say my friend wouldn't let me forget it for the rest of the day smilies/rolleyes.gif

Today while at work (my local Library) I was putting away books and I saw one that I thought said by Billy Boyd! I thought "Wow he's written an Easy Reader?" Then I realized it said Lizzy Boyd smilies/tongue.gif

I have another one. We bought Finding Nemo today, and my little sister was saying something about Marlin a few minutes ago. I thought she said Arwen, and I had to get her to repeat it 3 times before I realized she was saying Marlin, not Arwen. smilies/rolleyes.gif

The other day I was sitting in my school's library, reading my incredibly beat up copy of the Silmarillion, when I noticed a picture book on the shelf off to my left entitled, "Minas Morgul". Of course, I wondered why anyone in his/her/its right mind would write a picture book about Minas Morgul. Of course, I then realised it said, "Tim McCoul", which made alot more sense.

Try beating this one:

I was in the store with my mum, picking out bibs to give to my little cousin at a present, and on a certain box, it said "Bibs" in slightly archaic letters. I thought it said "Bilbos" and started ranting and raving about how the store was selling poor little Hobbits, and how the wrath of the Valar would come down upon the owner of the store (it was Wal-Mart by the way). smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/biggrin.gif

Honestly, I have no idea. I think someone may have mentioned the name in class, and the way they said it sounded like Morgoth. That's the only thing I can think of.

In my Web Design class today they had us research the history of the Internet. I went to a site and under a picture it said Token Ring which I automatically read as Tolkien Ring. I'm thinking "hey that's kind of cool, these people are Lord of the Rings Fans"... yeah... I fell for that one again. smilies/rolleyes.gif

I do the periodic table thing too, as well as mixing up the characters' names from "Bored of the Rings" with "Lord of the Rings." Plus, I now read the word Fritos as Frodo and Arrowroot as Aragorn, and the phrase "fair slacks" as Faramir (do NOT read "Bored of the Rings" if you value your sanity. smilies/eek.gif ) I also do the "elven/eleven" thing. This isn't a hallucination, but there's a Ranger street in my town! smilies/biggrin.gif

Technically this isn't a hallucination. I had a patient last night with the last name of Greenleaf. Of course I thought of Legolas first thing when I saw that name.

I had a similar Greenleaf incident. In American Literature, one of the poets middle names' is "Greenleaf." smilies/biggrin.gif I did another periodic table one; I read Floride as "Faramir." I need help veeeeery badly.

Yet another one:

The other day I was shopping for a hat, there was a sign that said: Rollbrim Hat- $15.00 as Rohirrim- $15.00. I really wondered as to why they were selling the Rohirrim and how come they were so cheap.

Also, the other day I read Chlorine as Olorin.

I do the PeriodicTable misconception waay too much. Let's see...

Bromine->Boromir
Argon->Aragorn (At least it's noble...I know, lame.)
Tellurium->Teleri
Hafnium->Halfling
Samarium->Saruman
Gadolinium->Gondolin
Thallium->Thalion
Gallium->Gollum
Palladium->Paladin (Took)
Barium->Beren
Thorium->Thorin
*blinks* I think I'll just shut up now.

Sort of on topic to finding things in the periodic table, but not a hallucination, I found Beleg in a periodic table wordsearch. That was odd. smilies/biggrin.gif

Okay, if any of you have seen me in the chat room you know that i misspell all the time and get words confused ect...

well, here's my favorite..he he... ok i mean it.

Wine= Pippin( Sorry, but it's happened)

Bro(the slang for brother)= Boromir( Okay, he may be one of my favortie characters but, when someone said bro, what did i say? Boromir. of course.)

The Ka( MY OWN NAME!)= Theoden King. (heh... funny.)

Samatha= Sam(well, of course! can't forget the coolest hobbit!)

Fan Fair= Faramir( yes, i need to get my ears cleaned out.)

Marry= Merry (no comment.)

And thousands more. all of wich no of you would enjoy hearing. trust me on this.

Before i go, i need to tell my newest word mixup. Ok, we all know that Henry the 8th had many wives. One was called (if i'm correct.) Catherine of Aragorn. This caused me to spend 10 minutes thinking over this. Some where in my mind of useless facts and good ones i keep thinking that the word Aragorn (country, providence speaking) is spanish as spain... I don't know why but if anyone can tell me if i'm even close please send me a message! it would help me and the Ba very much. goodbye. smilies/smile.gif

Life is but a dream,
Drifting on a stream, a stream,
Consciously it seems,
All of what remains,
Ego brain,
And they shame,
Shame, love after it rains,
You see my pain is real,
Watch my world dissolve,
And pretend that none of us see the fall,
As I turn to sand,
You took me by the hand,
And declared, that love prevails over all.
I am just a man,
Fighting other men,
For land, for land,
While I turn to sand,
In spite of the pain,
Ego brain,
And they shame,
Shame, love after it rains,
You see my pain is real,
Watch my world dissolve,
And pretend that none of us see the fall,
As I turn to sand,
You took me by the hand,
And declared, that love prevails over all.

I live near Toronto, and the Toronto football team is called the Argonauts. So every time I hear that, I always think it's the Argonath.

Also, last year I lived in a university dorm, and there was a poster in the hallway with the word 'legless' on it. So every day I had to walk past this poster to get to class, and every single time, without exception, I would do a double take and think, "What?!? Legolas!" Some people might learn after the first few times, but not me, I did it every single day.

This has seriously happened to me more times than I can ever count. It's good to know I'm not actually crazy. Or maybe I am, but at least I'm not alone. smilies/biggrin.gif

Vienna: Valinor( i don't really know why...)

AND THE ALL TIME FAVORITE:

Legos: Legolas ( never have and never will make a leggy out of legos, a boromir maybe but, not leggy. he deserves better.)

I mix up Berylium and Beleriand :). And I mixed up Barium with Barahir, but that only happened once, whereas I actually wrote Beleriand on a science test. This really embarracing one happened a couple of months ago: the teacher asked me to read a passage of the smart-board. I have pretty bad eyesight, and I sit at the back of the class. So I came to the word "finger" and read it as Fingon, and asked what does he have anything to do with what we're learning.

Elven and Eleven. I usually end up swapping the two around when using them! The other day my mother asked me what time it was and I told her it was elven o' clock, needless to say there was silence followed by an odd look afterwards. :D

And as it has already been stated, I too confuse Legos for Legolas, Greenleaf I think of Legolas and then theres the mix up with the periodic table. Chemistry was so much fun my junior year! hehe...

I also had the hardest of time reading Harry Potter and seeing the name Aragog, I immediately thought of Aragorn.

Not a hallucination, but my dog's name is Arwen ;)

the word borrow-barrow.

Wight, white.

The name Elroy gets mistaken for Elros quite often, too.

My grandfather's name is Luther, so when I see it written I see Luthien instead.

And for some odd reason when I see a milky way bar I think of Melkor...

The word lemon becomes lembas.

When I first heard of the movie, Ella Enchanted, the only thing I heard was Ella and Immediately thought of Elladan.

For the longest of time I thought Walker Texas Ranger was of the Dunedain :D

And of course, I think Dunedain when I hear talk of the New York Rangers or the Rangers division in the Army.
