Once, whilst bored, I tried to recite FotR extended DVD in its entirety. I didn't get it all, but I got a fair share of it (up to the Council of Elrond).

I think the funniest thing I ever did was during Christmas last year when we were wrapping presents. I was pulling wrapping paper from a roll when the entire load of paper came off and I was left holding an empty cardboard roll. Trying to think of something to save myself from the embarrassment that was slowly mounting as everyone stared at me, I lifted the stick above my head and shouted, "For Gondor! Hail the White City!" It didn't save me from embarrassment, but it made people laugh. smilies/biggrin.gif I am known in some parts now as the Warrior of Wrapping-Paper Rolls.

I've also, from boredom, named my "night light" the phial of Elendil. It has a sensor that makes it turn on whenever it gets dark. Anyway, those are just some things I've done while bored.

I know most of the LotR poems/ songs etc. off by heart. And most of the book. I will sit there at the end of exams and use the spare paper to write out, say, the council of Elrond or something.
And I always sing the bath song when I ahve a bath.

When I can't get to sleep I lie in my bed and think of funny parts of TT and FotR. Last week I was thinking of the part in TT when Faramir says "What did they steal?" and Gollum looks at him and says "My Precious! AAAHHH!" I can't help it but I find that so funny. So I was lying in bed laughing my head off. I'm sure my mom was wondering what the hell was wrong with me.

And whenever I am bored I run Two Towers or Fellowship of the Ring in my head. Last week at Cadets I was running the Fellowship through my head while we were on the parade square. Mind you, we stood there for about an hour.

When I get bored, I get into weird FOTR conversations with people. Last time we had a debate over whether the ancient Roman army could have beaten up the Uruk army in the Helm's Deep scene in TTT. THen we wondered what would have happened if Darth Vader joined Sauron, and Yoda joined the Fellowship. That is the extreme bordom phase. smilies/biggrin.gif

Once I woke up at 2 am and couldn't fall asleep, so I recited LotR stuff till 3 or 3:30, then I wrote fanfics till 4. smilies/wink.gif In the morning I went to watch TT again. I have a bunch of 1970's calendars that I hang in my room that are illustrations of parts of the books, whether it's the Hobbit, the Silm or LOTR. I have 2 hanging right now because one has the days coinciding with today's (as in it has March 13 on the same day as when it was this year) and the other calendar has a better picture. Most of these calendars incorperate the dates of when things happened, but the dates are wrong. I have the scripts that I made from watching the movies too much that I bring with me most everywhere, and I have memorized a bit of the poems.

"I sit beside the fire and think" is one of my favorites, too. I have my own melodies for practically all the LOTR songs. I don't just read them as poems, when it says that they were sung, I sing them. As I read the book, I try to remember my melody for a song every time I come across one, and then I sing it once out loud, then once in my head. It usually sounds a lot better in my head. smilies/tongue.gif I have also parodied several of the songs and poems so that they are about my school (I hate my school).

You know, the one during the Last Alliance scene when the orcs hit the line of elves and they twirl their swords all cool like. Yeah.

I've never thought of singing Tom's songs! Well, I'll have to try that!

Me too, all the time. One of my friends glances at my hand and then just rolls her eyes and says 'what have you drawn now?' LOL @balrogman. You rock! My friend recently bought a claymore off of Ebay and we went outside and chopped the crap outta a grapefruit. Then my friend came up with the idea of ordering a buncha them and running around town painting people in one of two colors and handing them a sword and telling them to kill the other color. Now that is MiddleEarthMayhem!

I've tried to compose music for the tom bombadil poems...and all of the others too but tom bombadil's worked out best...And then I found various excuses to work TB and luthien tinuveil's songs into a poetry project, and then over half of my poems had at least ONE line with luthien in it...well there was also the phantom etc but that's not the point. I get into whacked-out discussions with my brother. And my teachers. And my friends. And my Health teacher (who thinks LOTR is a waste of time; I've yet to convert her. She refuses to read the books and has only ROTK [the cartoon version] to base her opinions on!). My more recent debates are on what would happen in a duel between Yoda and Sauron (with my brother) and the genetics of Elven hair color (with my Bio teacher).

I also write a ton of poetry. (Some of it's actually pretty good.) A lot of times I'll take the form of Tolkien's poems and create my own stuff to fit it, but I've been known to write odes and other such works about LOTR and The Hobbit. I parodize Disney (and other songs, but mostly Disney) songs.

Some days I'll be sitting on the couch reading and my brother will walk into the room and we'll just start quoting the books. One day I was with a friend and I was kind of ticked at someone so I told the latter to go away. When she left, I went "We told her to go away... and away she went! *****'s free!" (* = my name, which you don't get to learn) I got a LOT of weird looks from people that day, let me tell you! I re-enact scenes with friends.

A lot of times in the summer (when our Mom isn't home!), my brother and I ransack the house for broom sticks, yardsticks, and other weapon-like paraphanalia and we "sword-fight" in the yard. When I first got into LOTR, I decided that I needed a wooden staff, so I had my dad cut me an oak sapling (about 1 inch in diameter) to staff length (I ended up shortening it, so I can use it as a staff or held like a broad sword) and I carved it. Sort of. It's perfectly smooth, since it's sanded down but it's partly carved. I also have another one that I use in 'competitions' between myself and a friend. Let me tell you, they hurt when you get hit with one. *MUST PAY ATTENTION* It hurts getting whacked in the side of the head or tripped with a staff!

As for other stuff, I've got a shed that I've set up with a desk, shelves, the works, and when I get together with some friends, we ransack my mother's gardens and the cooking cupboard and we concoct 'potions' that cure pretty much everything. Or not. I wouldn't know- I've vowed to never eat drink, or really touch, anything that comes out of that shed.

My alter ego goes roaming about in the fields and creeks (and woods) behind my house. She is the daughter of a Ranger and and Elf!

What can I say? I'm strange!
