As for another question, I just read the stupidist question of all time!
How would you trap shelob?
A. In a giant bathtub
B. On a giant roll of sticky tape
C. With a big chunk of cheese
Second was:
If a troll was in your bedroom, how would you get rid of it?
A. Throw water on it
B. give it a nice hot cup of tea and ask it to leave
C. Open the curtains.

No, I'm pretty sure that they do have 3 heads each. At first I was confused because I have a Tolkien encyclopedia and it said 6 heads (that's why I originally said 6 heads) but I didn't think that was right and I checked in the RotK (the direct source! smilies/biggrin.gif ) Maybe you found it in the same place I did. My encyclopedia has a few mistakes in it that I have found, though. Here is what the RotK says: They were like great figures seated upon thrones. Each had three joined bodies, and three heads facing outward, and inward, and across the gateway. The heads had vulture-faces, and on their great knees were laid clawlike hands.
Gimli made the family tree for King Elessar, I think.

To answer Annun's other two questions:
1) Théoden Ednew; he was called this in the lore of Rohan because he had fallen under the spells of Saruman and was healed by Gandalf the White.
3) King Folcwine; his twin sons Folcred and Fastred went into battle, in his place, and were killed.
And I believe Aragorn was 87 or 88 years old at the beginning of the Fellowship's journey.

never mind about not knowing that, im just a major dwarf fan, ive memorised gimli's ancestory to durin the sixth!
lemme see... dains father. dain ironfoots was nain the second, right?
ooh... this is so embarrassing, seeing as ive read the dwarf appendices so many times. i should know all this!
i believe he was the heir to... now, if ive got this straight, he was one of the three children of Nain the second. The third, id say. but thorin had been killed... so yes, he was heir to the throne. his father was killed in a battle somewhere? perhaps the battle of Nanduhirion (known also as Azanulbizar)?
just so you know, if any of this is wrong, i did not look at the appendices or anywhere. this was all from my hazy memory. im gonna check im right now smilies/smile.gif

*applause for purplefluffychainsaw* Very good! smilies/biggrin.gif Let's see, now another question...
In the books, how many times did Frodo put on the Ring? If you can say when and where also you get more points.

Okay, fine, I'll think of a different question.........
Who created the Ents? I know you'll know this, Helka, mister I-read-the-Silmarillion-in-only-two-days. smilies/wink.gif smilies/tongue.gif
Abedithon le!

Yavanna, the vala, created the Ents....Yavanna, queen of the Earth... smilies/biggrin.gif
At least I think so...

Just for the record, it was not in my version of the silm, but didn't the elf did that? You know by talking to them and whispering the ents learned the language and started moving. That is what was in Lotr.
Suilad,
Anuion

Yeah, you are right. The elves thought them to talk. But Yavanna created them. That's what I've read!

Ah, so the flowers that were sleeping and later woke up, were the ents? I still don't get it. How did it happen?

Elvish histories tell how, when Varda, Queen of the Heavens, rekindled the Stars and The Elves awoke, the Ents also awoke in the Great Forest of Arda. They came from the thoughts of Yavanna, Queen of Earth, and were her Shepherds of Trees
When they first awoke, Ents could not speak, but the Elves thought them the art and they loved it greatly.
I think Yavanna created them and the elves learned them to speak...

Ah, so technacly they where the creation of Yavanna. Makes sence now smilies/smile.gif
Then there are the eagles: Who created them? Was it Manwë? He used their services most of all the Valar.

Dang, you people guess mine too easily! I might have to go back to my question about how many times Frodo wore the Ring. smilies/tongue.gif
Okay. How did Sauron die? (the first time) This is way too easy, but I'm trying to think of a real killer. smilies/evil.gif Stay tuned...

He sunk in the fall of Numenor. Or else the last alliance after that. But none of them were real deaths, were they now?

I will try to answer how many times Frodo wore the Ring, I might have missed some, though.
1. @Tom Bombadil's house.
2. @ The Prancing Pony.
3. On Weathertop.
4. At the Breaking of the Fellowship.
5. On Mt. Doom

Congrats to Novlamothien, for getting my Ring question right!! smilies/biggrin.gif *applauds*
Okay, someone, define the logic that allowed Merry and Eowyn to slay the Witch-King.
Abedithon le!
the guy who be short

The witchking could be slain by "no man" - merry was a hobbit, Eowyn a woman.
Without looking, fill in the blanks.
Gil-Galad was an elven-king
Of him, the (1)_______ sadly sing
The last whose land was (2)____ and free
Between the mountains and the sea.
His (3)_____ was (4)____, his (5)_____ was keen
His shining helm (6)____ was seen
The (7)________ stars in heavens field
Were (8)__________ in his (9)______ shield
