Beruthiel, it is said that she was the Queen of Cats or something similar. Just a suggestion.

You know, I've already suggested that but my family don't like it...Beruthiel was my first choice.
I wanted to name the other cat which is black "Morgul" but they had already decided on "Molly".
Anyone else like Tatania?!!!

Here (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=17&t=000127) is a thread where Kaze asked for help naming a cat. The cat was eventually named Mithwen, but you can find lots of suggestions that weren't used.

**Pokes Morgul Queen** Can I eat it please? Cat name... Hmm... Feanor!!! [note: purplefluffychainsaw has a crush on Feanor] Or Earendil [Note: and Earendil] My kitty's called Le Chat les Horribles. And the resident-black-cat-who-does-not-belong-to-us is the empora. **Thinks** Hmm... cat name... Have you got the silmarillion? You could use the elvish dic in the back of it. Just remeber it needs to go backwards... (Eg. Gil = star, mor = dark, mor+gil = dark star) smilies/tongue.gif

Nofretete.
Or "Fluffy"
LotR: Elanor, you can call her Elly, then.

For a male cat: Boromir smilies/smile.gif I like that idea.

My cat now is Sprite as I was given him before I read any Tolkien - that seems sooo long ago!

If I was to get another cat (or be allowed to name someone else's) it'd be Feanor. Beautiful name for a cat.

Hey Beruthiel's a good one.... of course smilies/biggrin.gif
How about Merry? Or Bilbo? I like those names, If I ever get a pet I'd name him that or if a girl, Luthien or Arwen.

I wanted to name our new female Basset hound something from LotR but the rest of my family insisted on Petunia instead. Oh well! smilies/rolleyes.gif

The Book of Lost Tales II has some characters who actually are cats. Perhaps you could name it after one of them.

I am soooooo Insulted!!!!!!
My family said I couldn't name the cat Luthien 'cause it sounds too much like Lucifer!!!! smilies/mad.gifArrrrggggggggg!!!!!!
AND I'm not allowed to call her Morgul(like me) 'cause its too morbid!!!! smilies/eek.gif This is a lot harder than I thought it would be...

Hmm, don't think I'm the right person to suggest anything since my own cat is named Whisky. smilies/tongue.gif

But I too vote for Fëanor. It's a beautiful name, and Fëanor is a hott... erm... hero.
Purplefluffychainsaw, you're not alone! smilies/biggrin.gif

In that great hobbit tradition, our cat has a flower name "Daisy", not from LOTR but from our own fields.
Or since cats are therapeutic (o.k., only cat lovers find this true), why not name the cat after one of the healing herbs of middle earth?

From Shakespeare, even if the cat is a girl, I like the name Puck!! *but that's just me*

I was going to name my cat something in elvish, but instead I named her Waverly.

Why not name her Tuilere? It's elvish for Spring Day.

Well, good luck

I named my cat Tevildo.
I found it in the Unfinished Tales 2, its the name of the leader of Morgoth's evil cats. But Tolkien changed it to Sauron.

Unfortunately my little Tevildo died a few months ago. But its a good name for a cat. smilies/smile.gif

My family said I couldn't name the cat Luthien 'cause it sounds too much like Lucifer

It's an easy mistake to make. The difference between the two words is deceptively obvious, which is why I called my cat Mephistopheles. I wanted it to be quite clear that he was named after the devil and not one of Tolkien's characters.

If you haven't named the cat yet, what about Lorien?

Whoever suggested Morgan, that gave me the idea of ...
Morgan Le Fay!! (too many Arthurian stories again...)

I had a cat once but it got horribly run over on the high way. And that was after we had to give it back to it's original owner because of my mom's allergic reaction to it. It was so sad we had to carry it down to the vet's office to get put down. smilies/frown.gif
In light of these experiences, I think that you should give your cat a dark name or something different. Like name the cat after gollum or call it wraith or something like that. I imagine your parents wouldn't approve of those either. Too dark.

Good luck though. Hope the poor thing doesn't get stuck with something like fluffball!
