Surely the children of Middle-earth must have gone to school, so there must have been holidays, like holidays like Christmas and Easter. I know there were Elvish festivals every now and then, but Middle-earth must have had holidays. After all, it is part of culture!

The hobbits obviously had a lot of celebrations. Any excuse for a party...

(Hot, sunny day in the Shire...)

Random Hobbit 1: I'm bored... hey, I know! Lets have a party?

Random Hobbit 2: what are we celebrating?

RH 1: I dunno... how about... National Boredom Day??

RH 2: sounds good! Let's party!

Bury a Relative in the Sea day - Stick 'em in a boat and send 'em over Rauros! Doesn't matter which relative!

National Spider-Tease Festival - Attercop!

National smoke day! Where they all sit and see who can blow the biggest bubble of smoke (or what ever you call it)! Or who can make the coolest shapes!

Okay, both National Smoke Day and National Mushroom Day could be everyday.

1st Hobbit: I say, could go for a bite to eat... need excuse... hey boss! It's... uh... National Mushroom Day, could we celebrate?
Boss Hobbit: Excellent! (orders in mushrooms)

As Meela said, any excuse for a party.

How about "National Bannish Gandalf from the Shire Day!"
In which the hobbits would either celebrate Gandalf's absence, or if he was in the area, they would attempt to "shew" him away.
Obviously Frodo and Bilbo wouldn't celelbrate this holiday.

What about that holiday that the appendixs talked about? Ring day on September the 22nd? Anyway,
How about Mad Baggins day, where everyone has a huge party and re-enact the disaperance, and visit the Bag End Museum because it was because of that day that a hobbit of the shire became world famous. Everyone loves to celebrate stars birthdays!

Another holiday could be National sword day!

Aragorn: I heard you hobbits like holidays so I have invented a day when every one gets to learn how to use a sword!

Froddo: That sounds great but excactly how are you going to get that many teachers?

Aragorn ( looking slyly at Sauroman ): I have my ways. smilies/wink.gif

Sauroma: What?

Boromir: Take a bath day. once a year. smilies/evil.gif

Sorry, I just feel like being mean to Boromir today.

But, seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if hobbits had a holiday for every day of the year. They do love parties.
