1) Why wouldn't they smoke
2) What if they did smoke?
3) Would they use pipes, cigarets, or cigars?

I think Galadriel secretly smokes as well. After she's had a real hard day of secretly reading others minds and bent over a mirror, (and when Celeborn is being a pain in the a**e) of course she would have stress and tension! So to unwind she goes to her favourite spot in the woods and lights up, accidently bumping into Haldir along the way.

I have this strange image of Elrond smoking a cigar, in secret. One of the unknown reasons Arwen left him and married Aragorn is that she couldn't stand the stench.

Another hidden "fact":
The beauty of the elves didn't "fade", the forrests burned down because of the cigarettes being left on the ground.
