It fires my obbessions. Wait no, it IS my obbession.
Anyway, what I wnated to say was this:
Has LotR started any other types of obbessions for you? Like speaking elvish or archery **Coughs and blushes** And wearing long green dresses **Looks down in shame** And growing you hair long (Girls only... wait, that does aply to boys too.)
Acctually my hair already was long but the other three...
I want to know if I'm just a freak. So please reply! smilies/biggrin.gif

It's made me want to grow my hair out too, but I'm not going to (because having Legolas braids isn't that handy for anything other than looks, it'd be more difficult to care for and it wouldn't gain me any points in getting my business degree).

LotR fuels my obsession for reading. smilies/smile.gif I've also recently gotten quite keen on braiding my hair, and dressing in long flowing clothing. The many poems in the books fire my passion for poetry and song. I'd love to begin learning Elvish, but I'm already working on two other languages and I'm not sure I could handle a third. smilies/tongue.gif

I write more than I used to, because I write Lotr fanfiction. Its great practise.
After seeing Fotr for the first time I became addicted to raw mushroom.
My hair is already long, and my clothes were already rather fantasy, but I dress as much like the characters as I can.

thank the gods! i'm not the only one!
for awhile, i thought that writing lotr stories, and reading all of tolkien's stuff/researching on him was a little out of the ordinary, then horsemaiden of the shire taught me to love that side of life!
oh yeah- started to get back into archery, learning dwarvish runes, trying (not succeeding very well) in sindarin and quenya... lots of other things as well, but really, the list could go on and on...

My major obsession is -silver jewellery-, which I 'blame' entirely on LotR. It started with a simple old ruby ring I begged out of my mum 18 years ago. Since then I've aquired so many objects - two dragon pendants, an eye, a palantir (a spheric cat's eye set between two hands), a huge spider-on-the-web brouch, a watcher-in-the-water ring (in fact, just a malicious-looking octopus, but who cares)...
Too much to list, and I'm not going to stop looking for others. smilies/tongue.gif

Yay, this is my FIRST EVER post since becoming a member!
When I became obsessed I decided to grow my blond hair long again so I could be an elf (I started when FOTR came out and it's about shoulder legth), tried to teach myself Elvish in French class, discussed LOTR with EVERYONE, gained a reverence for stars and forests, and bought many Elven-ish shirts to add to my collection...If that doesn't make me insane then I don't know what does...oh yeah, I want pointy ears and I jioned this website smilies/wink.gif At least I'm in fellowship with other crazies!

LotR has led me to so many other authors. (I want more ELVES!) And I want to learn how to shoot a bow, and I'm trying to learn Quenya, and I drive my best friend crazy with my constant references to LotR. Oh, yes, and my obsession with LotR has made me start collecting capes/cloaks/staffs(with Tengwar on them)/silver jewellry.

I think that Lhunardawen meant that it looks as if she's in a world of her own. Autistic people have trouble relating to the outside world, although they can be exceptionally bright. Maybe I'm wrong and that's not what she meant at all, but that's what I take it as meaning. smilies/smile.gif

This is quite amusing - BEFORE i became obsessed with the LotR, i pretended i thought i was an elf. I kept saying "I'm an elf" to my best friend. Then, two months or so after i started, he said something about me being an elf. I pointed at him, laughed, and said "Fooled ya!"

Thank you, Sapphire_Flame, I've always found the forum on this website extremely entertaining. As for LOTR being a fuel, I discovered LOTR in a bought of despairing darkness and it gave me a world to escape to when I could not endure the "real" one. now I'm happier and hopelessly addicted to epic fantasy...Hello, my name is Elvanui, and I have a problem(and I like it!)

Normally books don't get me obssessed with much of anything, but LOTR is the exception. I have:
-Grown my hair longer and have been attempting to braid it like Legolas'
-Attempted to pick up on archery and swordplay, but I still have to convince my parents I'm not going to chop myself in two the first time I pick up a sword.
-Attempted to translate Elvish and Dwarvish runes, but apparently failed.
-Decorated my box for ceramics with my version of Dwarvish runes.
-Driven all of my best friends who are not already obbsessed with the LOTR to the point where they either just pick up the books and read them, or stomp off muttering in discust. (sp?)
I could go on all night, but for right now, that's all I can think of.

I'm most obsessed with white aspen as a result of LotR. It's now, officially, my favorite tree, just because the bark is somewhat white. I've also been known to draw the Crest of Gondor on random sheets of paper (soon, it will be laminated and placed on the door to my bedroom). Long have I searched for a tapestry of the Crest. I also would like to own a white horn at some point. I would say LotR inspired my passion for blades, but I've been in love with "stabbies" since I cut myself with a steak knife when I was little. It has, however, fanned the flames of my love for swords and made me that much more determined to collect them when I have the funds to.
oooh, it also inspired me to learn how to write in dwarvish dunes
It was actually The Hobbit that got me on that, and then it was because I found a little description of the runes in the front of the book, got bored in History and decided to teach myself. I haven't picked up any other types of Dwarvish runes, but I'm very much interested in them if you have a tutorial on any other "strains." I'm trying to get higher up on the ladder of knowing Dwarvish runes since my friend is already quite learned in Elvish. smilies/wink.gif
On the side, I'm trying to wrap my poor head around a Quenya tutorial, but I can't seem to find the time to actually sit down and learn it thoroughly.

Well, I just keep on aquiring more and more books and I have one set of action figures in their boxes and one set out of their boxes. Yes, that's right, I like to play LOTR with my toys. I have a replica of the one ring that I wear around my neck and I just got my Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle Earth cd. Best band ever! I love to go on walks imagining that I am on some kind of mythical quest to save the world and have grown my hair out. And I love to discuss anything to do with Middle Earth or LOTR and have actually found someone who will listen to me. Granted, he is only starting to read LOTR but he thinks Aragorn is "the man" and loves to hear me babble on for hours about LOTR. This gives me hope that we are not all scattered about the globe but can find others like us right where we live. Never give up hope!

I want a sword too...but I don't think my parents would let me. They are convinced that I would become a danger to myself and others...I wonder why smilies/rolleyes.gif But I am in the process of making myself an Elvish dress, and my obsession with Elvish stuff is well known. My boyfriend asked me out through a note written in tengwar, even though he is not particularly ring-literate. I also I glued my ears pointy and braided my hair like Legolas, which drew alot of strange looks.

Writing fanfiction and original fantasy;
Drawing (manga elves smilies/wink.gif);

A new appreciation for forests
Archery lessons...
Reading MORE fantasy (none make elves as good though... smilies/frown.gif )
Discussing it with everyone I meet (labeled me a weirdo with people I know) smilies/biggrin.gif;
Joining Barrowdowns smilies/smile.gif

I was obsessed with drawind, writing, weraring green stuff and silver jewlry long before the movies came out(not to mention all black and very sensable clthing. the kind that can be traveled in). But now I am into the languages, and cooking, and Hobbits, and oh yes my Major. It is a combination LOTR and Veggie Tales that inspired me to go an associates degree in computer animation. But not just the movies it is the creature building that I am excited about. My first story bord os of a radicale smily face ball with spiked hair. It is difernt so it speaks out. Then the other "normal" ones sew its mouth shut, and it is mad. Then they are trying to persuade it to be like them. It won't the last scene is a doll with a sewed up mouth and spiky hair....
Back on topic; yes I have been inspired. For christams gifts I made Mirors with Elvish inscrtiptions on them. My grandmother got the two trees. Now I am working on Eadoras for her. Also, I made Gandalf ornaments for my neighbors. I made myelf an enitre LOTR ornamnt set, one for each race. Have them some where.... One of these days I will take pictures of them.
And the picture on my Drivers licens is funny. I was so obseded with the LOTR elves that I had my hair long and braded all the time, even in my ROTC uniform! My hair is not longer long, it is short very short,. Although I plan on making it long again, it will take about two or so years though.

I have been inspired to paint by LotR....right now I'm working on a mural of the White Tree for my door. It looks pretty good so far...which is surprising considering how much (read little) talent I have. I also have been motivated to think of new and devious ways to become a Ranger with all the gear. Have cloak, need green pants...need sword....working on staff...Oh! That's another thing I've been inspired to do! WOODWORKING!!!! Which, incidentally, is today's Word of the Day. Feel its wrath.

Hi Elanor!! I updated my fic! Just so ya know!
OK, LOTR HAS inspired me. In many ways.
I also attempted to braid my hair like Legolas'! I can do the back one right but I can't get the side ones right.
I write my fanfics! Yup! If it wasn't for LotR, my fic would never exist! NOOOOO!!! I wouldn't have any reviews! (I have 50!)
LotR has also made me put pointed ears on every person I draw who's ears are visible! The only people I don't put pointed ears on are the people who I think don't deserve pointed ears!
My handwriting is also LotR related! I put the little flamey thingies around titles, and I do the loopy stuff too like on the Ring Inscription! LOL!
In restaurants, when my dad wants a bottle of wine, I say, "Dad, can we get some Miruvor?" And because he's not a big LotR fangirl like me, he says, "I have never heard of that wine! Where's it from? It sounds like a Spanish name." This makes me almost die laughing. Then he asks me what I'm laughing at. All through this, my brother is rolling his eyes in an annoyed way. He likes LotR, but he's not hardcore like me. smilies/biggrin.gif
Oh! For some reason, when I'm reading a school book or something in class, I look at each word, and pick apart the letters to make something LotR related! Am I mad? Or does everyone do that?
I'm also going to legally change my real name TO Elróthiel, and I'll name my kids Elvish names (if I have kids! I hate the little buggers!), and if I DON'T marry the real Legolas, then I'll do the next best thing! I'll change his name to Legolas, then I'll force him to grow his hair long and dye it blond so he'll at least LOOK like him! Oh! And I'll make him learn Sindarin!
smilies/biggrin.gif
Anyhoo, gotta go now! See ya!
Review my fic Elanor!!!

yes yes, along with the standard hair-braiding, archery, fantasy books, writing and sketching, i've also developed an interest not only in swordfighting, but other kinds of combat too, which i plan to start learning (once i convince my parents it's not THAT dangerous...)
also, historical/ancient artifacts and stories in general, especially the middle ages, are becoming more and more intriguing.
one last bit of craziness: for my IGCSE French oral, i went on and on about elves, their history, their habits and their lives... i asked my teacher what the chances were of someone else doing the same topic... smilies/biggrin.gif
