Recently, at the mall, I was walking out of a store with my friend just as a total Legolas twin walked in (he had shorter hair though, and rounded ears.) I kind of walked into those post thingies that detect shoplifted store items because I was so startled... (and then turned around to stalk him for a little while) And then, I was hiking with my family and this short guy walked past who looked like Pippin, (but I didn't walk into anything this time.) So, just wondering if anyone else has "seen" someone from LOTR?

THere is this dude at school who looks kind of like Hugo weaving. I told him that and he laughed. He hangs out with me and my freinds in the cafatera from time to time now.

ok, since no one around here wants to be nice i'll talk to you since i'm a nice Ka. smilies/biggrin.gif (really. smilies/wink.gif i mean it).

well, i've had many LOTR sightings but, let's begin with my favorite.

There is a man down the street from my house, and every morning he starts up his 56' chevy pick-up truck. well, every morning the Ka has to walk down that same street at the SAME time this man starts up his pick-up.(sorry if this is sounding too much like a "fairy tale" format but, come on it happens every day.) Any way, it is always very early in the morning (don't ask me what i do when i walk down the street at 5:00 a.m. every morning.) So, as any Scorpio would do as they are very curious, i stopped walking at stood and looked at the man as he walked to his truck. Then by some unknown fource he stopped looked staight at me and stared. Luckley, the moon was out and i saw him i had to double look the first time. What i saw was Boromir- or so i thought. He was around early 40's and had golden/reddish hair (just like boromir) and about 5'11'' (the same height of Sean Bean who plays boromir in the FOTR). Well, we stood there for about 5 minutes just stareing at each other. Then he double shook his head, as if he was seeing things. Then like always he got in his truck, and i walked down the street.

Pretty amuseing then? I really don't know what he thought i was from his memory but, i don't really want to know.

oh! also i see a merry look alike everyday for about 3 hours. Verry funny, gets confused alot, impatient. yup, sounds like a merry. smilies/rolleyes.gif

ok i'm done. call me an freak know.
"where ever i go there's always pooh. There's always pooh and me. Whatever do, he wants to do just pooh and me."

There's this guy at my school who looked almost exactly like Dominic Monaghan - every time i see him I can't help but smile like a fool (he's just so darn cute smilies/wink.gif ) I haven't gotten the chance to tell him that he looks like Merry though... he'd probably look at me really crazy like then walk off. smilies/rolleyes.gif

Well there's this one guy at my school, I never thought of it at first, but he looks alot like Frodo!! Well if he had curly hair. So I suppose it would make more sense to say he looks like Elijah Wood, and it very ironic (not wanting to give away his identity) that part of his last name is Wood!! smilies/eek.gif smilies/eek.gif Now that contains within it great irony. don't you think!?

Hmmm let me think

My brother's friend's brother has the same color hair as Elijah Wood and the same very dark blue eyes.

My Aunt really reminds me of Galadriel. She has the same long blond hair and everything! It's kinda scary.

When I moved to central america, there was this guy on the plane sitting a few seats in front of me, who looked strikingly like Billy Boyd. About the same height too...I kept looking over at him and snickering to myself. I've been told I should have run up to him and asked for an autograph..heh..

The guy at my cinema is a tall version of Gimli.

I'm the spitting image of both Gollum and Eowyn (my appearance has a habit of changing daily...).

A friend of mine looks exactly like Frodo. Her sister is a teensy bit like Sam.
(We used to act out Frodo/Sam/Gollum scenes on the way home from the cinema)

My next door neighbour's cat looks like Eowyn. Exact same eyes.

One of the college lecturers looks like Gandalf. Another one looks like Pippin. And there's a guy who looks exactly like one of the Gondorian extras from TTT.

And I once stood behind David Wenham for five minutes at the supermarket. But sadly it wasn't actually David Wenham, just his identical twin. Exact same nose, slightly shorter hair.

Oh my goodness. There is this guy in my Spanish class, and he looks JUST. LIKE. FARAMIR! *swoons* Oh, if only that sneaky acrobatics instructor (who's also in the class) hadn't got to him first! *sigh*
But moving on.
Another guy in that class, my friend Tyson (who incidentally hates LotR... it's a love-hate relationship for us) just came into class last week with a beard and moustache... and now he looks like Aragorn, minus the long dirty hair. He's cute this way. I told him who he resembled, and he took it as an insult, but I explained to him that it was actually a very high compliment. Now he thinks I'm hitting on him. *shrugs* Ah well.... maybe I will.

My friend who is in my dance class and my math class looks almost exactly the same as Eowyn! I told her so. I keep trying to get her to do her hair in an Eowyn style, but she hasn't yet.

I have a friend who can imitate both Gimli and Gollum so well, that he's snuck up behind me in the halls sometimes, and scared the living daylights out of me by saying "The thievesss.... the filthy little thievessss....." right over my shoulder.

Wow, I seriously think there could be a LOTR mafia. Stalking all the LOTR freaks... Someone second me on this because my friends think I have gotten even more crazy then usual... Don't you think that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) would look exactly like Frodo if he took off the glasses, wiped off the scar and slightly permed his hair?

Oh yeah, my math teacher looks like Gandalf, except for extra tall and with shorter hair. He talks like him too. Like kind of slowly but you can tell he's very wise and has been around for centuries...

Don't you think that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) would look exactly like Frodo if he took off the glasses, wiped off the scar and slightly permed his hair?
Actually, I had approached this idea from the other side. I thought Elijah Wood would play a great grown up Harry, especially after he donned the British accent (although it is obvious that his 'accent' is different from Daniel's.)
Oh yeah, my math teacher looks like Gandalf, except for extra tall and with shorter hair. He talks like him too. Like kind of slowly but you can tell he's very wise and has been around for centuries...You're lucky! My old analytical chemistry teacher (this was, like, 11 years ago, mind!) talked like he had been around for centuries, but no one could understand a word he said! (I don't think it was Elvish, either!)

I have a friend who likes like and elf...and that particular elf would be Arwen. Seriously, hide her enoumously curly hair under a black, Middle-earthish cloak and give her pointed ears she looks just like Liv Tyler: her smile, her eyes, her face...even a stranger said she looked like Arwen.

Whenever I start say something in Elvish, my friend says I look like Arwen. It's not right. I don't consider myself that way.

Anyways, I was out and about yesterday(strange for me) and I saw the back of some guys head. He had shoulder length dark, dirty hair. He was wearing a baseball hat, but when he turned around, he had the whole beard thing going on. I squeeked, and just stood there staring until he walked away. I think he was a construction worker or something. Typical Alaskan look.

There was this guy I worked with one summer. He looked like Elijah Wood a little, he had the same hair style and blue eyes. Also I went to the Renissance Faire (sorry if it's spelled wrong) and I saw a woman dressed as Legolas, it was actually kind of cool. I said hi to her she was cool. Anyway, also a relitive of mine has elf ears it's so cute. My mom has hobbit hair! Hehee! I love it! And I think that's it.. smilies/cool.gif

OH MY GOD!

I was at the rugby the other night, (scot V Australia) and i saw this guy who looked like Dominic Monaghan sitting a row infront of me i stared at him for about half an hour.. (missing some of the game) And then i wondered.. what would Dom be doing at the rugby? (he was wearing a scot. Jersey) and then i remembered.. he has a scottish friend.. And then i thought why is he in Aust? and i was goign to go and talk to him and he stood up and walked past me and im like.."nah..." it wasnt him... i could have cried!

But in Sydney a few weeks ago, walking along George Street, and stopping at the lights was a guy who looked like Karl Urban.. .(So i immediatly had heart failure becuase i love Karl Urban)But i lost sight of him, so i still dont know whether it was him or not.. and then i went to he Zoo and i saw Prince Harry, i thought the Prince Harry 'exhibit' was boring so i went to see the lions... whilst still thinking if it was Karl Urban i saw before.

I look kind of like Arwen, or at least an elf. I have moderately pointed ears, and if I put some of my hair in front of them and leave the rest behind my ears it enhances the effect. One of my classmates can do a perfect Gollum/Smeagol impression.
It's scary, he sounds EXACTLY like them when they're arguing. smilies/eek.gif

Yeah, my brother can do that too.

My friend Caleb looks a lot like Merry, exact same hair, nose shape, and eye color too.

And I don't know why, but my other friend Dave reminds me of Eomer.
Don't ask me why, but he does.

Oh, and i once cled my friend Caleb "Merry", and he said "OH, so I look like a girl named Merry."

I laughed very hard and said "No you look like a hobbit named Merry, who is in fact a BOY hobbit.

He got a little angry after that, but we made up.
After I laughed so hard soda sprayed out of my nose.

I have been told I look like a cross between Arwen and Legolas.

At Fort Bridger Rendezvous I saw a guy who looked almost exactly like Aragorn, except his hair was lighter. I nearly fell over, which wouldn't have been good as I was going over a bridge at the time, and did not particularly want to be wet. Seriously, the guy could have been Aragorn after being in the sun long enough to bleach his hair a little. And, since it was rendezvous, he was wearing the right sort of clothes.

Lady Snickerdoodle
11-20-2003, 02:42 PM
Imladris- I have seen Orlando Bloom so many times it isn't even funny. But I think I was hallucinating for half the time- in the the other half they really DID look like OB, causing me to follow them around for a little while... (yes, I support stalkerism, life would be so boring without it) And I don't see whats so wrong with looking like Arwen (whoever said it, I'm too lazy to go back and check) I dressed up as her for half of halloween (when I couldn't stand my fairy wings anymore- just took them off and braided the sides of my hair) I don't think I pulled it off though.

Who is karl Urban...? I've heard his name but I'm having a brain fart at the moment. He's either Eomer or Theodred... right?

Lady Snickerdoodle

No one else seems to notice, I think it's just me and I'm crazy, but I swear he has the same nose and eye shape(though not the same colour) And he has "hockey hair" if you don't know what that means you're lucky(lousiy canadian guys and there overly long hair) Anyways, it looks like the Frodo wig only lighter.
I think I am going nuts...maybe this kid just has what I like to call an "elvish" face, like Frodo...

I’ve never seen a person who looked almost identical to one of the LOTR actors or actresses. (Once I saw a guy wearing a brown pointed “wizard style” hat though... He looked like he belonged in Middle Earth, smoking a pipe with Gandalf in some idyllic countryside.... Perhaps a Radagast the Brown lookalike?) However, my dad looks ALMOST IDENTICAL to Denethor in a painting called “Denethor Meets a Halfling” by Douglas Beekman. It’s so weird... it’s like the painter was using my dad as a model.

Two days ago, I was at one of the last Symphony rehearsals. I saw one of the late violinists run in, and I only saw the side of face. His hair was dyed blond at the tips, and for a while it seemed that he had pointy ears. I gasped (really, and squeeked at the same time). Then he sat down in front of me, to my disapointment, and he had normal ears again.

Physics Professor Butterbur strikes again. Yes, the third cousin of Barliman the Innkeeper, 84(not 78) times removed. He was teaching us anew about Kinematics, when he started teaching about deriviation and integration. Hey, Mr, this is Physics, not Calculus! I ended up saying, "You don't say..."

I was at a Music Festival yesterday and today, and the way it works is that (monday) we sang and then the adjudicator comes onstage to give a few pointers. Our adjudicator I swear looked just like Hugo Weaving. His facial expressions down to the veins on his forhead. When I was in High school there was this exchange student from somewhere in the middle east, I think, He looked just like Pippin! He was in my Sinor English class for a whole of dfive minutes, but I kept running into him all the time and I was not stalking him, we just happened to have the same lunch.

Now in College I tend to do lots of stalking in the parking lots, TVI turns people into vulchures, circleing and stalking.

There's a guy in my theatre class the is called by Mr. Bloom, he sits up front so everytime my British theatre teacher says Mr. Bloom I have to look up. But it's not The Mr. Bloom, just some guy at TVI. It's realy rather anoying because it bothers me for a few minutes and I start to loose track of the lecture.

Also, in my interpersonal communications course, there's a girl,a woman realy, that is so much like a Hobbit that yesterday I started to call her Hobbit girl.(she always brings food) I just couldn't remember her name because she just started to sit at the same table in class. I told her to come to the BDs for the name generator, I wonder if she will see this post...

" What will make this class more enjoyable?" says the instructor.

" Pizza, " says Jennifer, the Hobbit girl. The others around the room start to laugh our heads off.

" We need to start calling you Rosey Cotten," I say.

" Why, " she says, " what does that mean?"

"She's a Hobbit." I say, " what are you doing after class?" she ignors me." Hey, Hobbit girl, Laughter from the lady between us.

" What?" says Jenn.

" What are you doing after class?"

"oh," she says, " haivng a smoke and going to class."

"Okay," I say.

She gets my pic for the school pic and I give her the www.barrowdowns.com (http://www.barrowdowns.com) on a piece of notbook paper.

Well, I'm pretty much positive that my Algebra teacher is actually Morgoth in disguise with all the insanely hard tests he's been throwing at me.

And something completely unrelated to what's above: I was taking a quiz in World Studies today and one of the answers to a multiple choice question about some particular quote (it had to do with the English Civil War) was "Aragorn said it to Legolas and Gimli while preparing to chase Saruman's Uruk-Hai army." Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

(Note: My World Studies teacher always puts an "impossible joke answer" on one of the multiple choice questions, and it just happened to be LOTR-related this time.)

Last week at school they had the 'Battle of the Bands'. I didn't go (personally I would like to keep my good hearing) but was informed that the lead singer of one of the bands looked like Sam. One of my best friends went to Comic-Con this summer, and met the entire cast of LotR. She gave me this FotR pin that Andy Serkis gave her, so now I have a relic! I treasure it, always.

I saw another Legolas-lookalike at school today. The only difference was that his blond hair was in dreads and they were up to his collar bones, instead of being as long as Legsie's. Let's just say, I was drooling over him, and staring so much that I nearly crashed into a row of lockers.

Legolas lookalikes are so great aren't they... so much fun to stalk around stores and stuff. *muahaha* someone that i passed in a stairwell at school every day looks like an elf. Not like any particular elf, just kind of tall and graceful and radiating elvishness...

1. I was at basketball and i said to my mum, "That guy looks like Samwise Gamgee" and my mum says to me "His name is Sam. But i know it wasnt Sean Astin becuase this guy was like 15 years old.

2. Just today i was catching a bus with my little cousin and when we were getting on the bus he says "Gandalf" and pointed at the bus driver. And ive gone "woah" the guy looked like Ian McKellen it was spoooooky.

Well, this Legolas look-a-like had long dreads, like the fifth person I saw with them that day, but they were all bound up in a blue bandana and they were probably down to his waist. So, here I am, walking in chunky black heals, walking down stairs, wearing my old WWII trench coat, and trying to look reagle and stuff. And I almost trip and almost fall down the stairs. Kinda like the father of one of my old RP characters... Many see elves as beutifull and full of grace. This time he wasn't. He was coming down the steps from thier home in the trees and missed a step. He fell the rest and when he reached the bottum he got up brushed himself off and kept walking. Until he was behind a tree beside her and then he started laugh. Of course he didn't know she was there, until she started to snort and laugh. He was embarrased to no end.

But the most shocking thing ever, at my brother's athletics last weekend i saw a woman who looked like Grima. I have had nightmares all week.

This isn't really about a person I saw but oh well.

I went on tour with an orchestra I play in to Germany for a week. One afternoon, after a night drinking a very nice beer called Erdinger, and this wierd blue stuff that dyed the inside of your mouth, and another half dozen or so beers in the morning, My friends and I were walking around some German town with a wierd name when something stopped us in our tracks.

There, right before our very eyes, set into the wall of a building, was a small (no more than four foot) door, perfectly round, painted dark green, with a big brass knob in the middle.

After much theorising about what it was for etc. we decided that the only feasible reason for it being there was that there was a family of hobbits living in the building and, to stop from getting homesick, they had turned it into a Hobbit-Hole type place.;

Finwe

Everdawn: *shudder* I didn't think it was possible for a woman to look like Grima! I feel so sorry for her!

Angry Brandybuck: Perhaps the reason that you saw the Hobbit hole was that you had been drinking all that beer and weird blue stuff that dyed the inside of your mouth. The latter isn't exactly something that seems safe for consumption. smilies/wink.gif

Very true Finwe. In fact, I think it's the same hallucinogen hobbits use to create the illusion they call "The Shire"...

The Shire is everywhere...it is all around you...you cannot escape it...mwahahahaha!!!

Angry Brandybuck
01-31-2004, 08:28 AM
You may be right about that. I did have a photo of me stood next to the door with my knees in my shoes (so that I appeared to be a Hobbit!) but I can't for the life of me find it. If I ever do I shall return and post it triumphantly saying something like "You doubted me, you said I was just some drunk who imagined things, but HERE is the proof!"

If I can't find it you may find me at the nearest instituion/AA meetings.

I have yet to find out what the blue stuff was, but I'm going back this year and I may find it again, watch this space!

Just a quick EDIT to say that something I just remembered as soon as I'd clicked on 'Post'. At Reading Festival last year, I was wondering around the campsite with a group of friends at about 1 or 2 in the morning (a common past-time at rock festivals). We had just run away from a group of naked men calling thmselves the 'pornographic spree' when we ran into a short, dumpy man with tousled brown curly hair and a beard. He told us his name was Bilbo and he was going on a quest.

Bizarrely he also ran a 'Sock Exchange', basically meaning he just collected socks and kept them tied to a piece of string around his waist. You could swap various things with him for socks, definitely one of my most surreal experiences.

I just regret that I didn't get a sock off him. I'm going back this year so I'll hunt him down (I'm sure Gollum'll give me a hand) and steal a sock, precious.

This isn't really related but my friend is making jewellery for his DT project and he made two rings of power; one is the ring of Ugly Girl Attraction and the other is the ring of Drink Destruction.

I see the exact building everyday, when I'm walking from building to building or strolling in our so-called school that's actually a prison. But when I first saw it, I was reminded of Minas Tirith, because it is white. Maybe the Saruman who lives there is Saruman the Black. smilies/smile.gif

I also saw someone standing in front of a restaurant in a mall who I thought was Gimli, but he had white beard. Turns out it was a small statue of Santa. (I think that one's too late... smilies/smile.gif )

OK, this may all sound a little crazy...

This is kind of a backwards sighting. My friend informed me that we go to high school with Elijah Wood's cousin. I don't know his name. (this may or may not be true, I have yet to meet him, but..) one of her other friends was walking down the street with another friend, and they thought they saw him. It turns out it was really Elijah Wood. Of course this is probably a rumor smilies/rolleyes.gif . But some stuff that I KNOW is true-- One of my close friend's name is Arwen. Another friend has an uncle Aragorn, who knows a man named Gandalf. My freshman year I went to a summer choral program, and I walked around a corner and almost walked into Elrond- it was really just a boy who looked exactly like him. I mean EXACTLY. Heh.

My friend's cousin is a dead ringer for Orlando Bloom. He gets stopped for autographs all the time. I feel really bad for the young girls who approach him for autographs; the older ones he says, "Hey, I'm not Orlando Bloom!" But the younger girls...he'll sign Orlando's name on a piece of paper for them. He said he doesn't want to hurt their feelings. I think that's kind of mean.

And my friend (the one whose cousin looks like Orli) has Legolas hair. It's straight, bleach-blonde, and reaches about the bottom of his shoulder blades. His wife is always trying to pin him down to braid the sides and to put a herringbone braid in the back. He never lets her do it (I wish he would...). The funny thing is, he grew his hair out like that and dyed it well before FOTR came out in theaters!

My little brother (High King Fingolfin) is an Frodo lookalike, except that he has brown eyes, instead of blue, and his hair isn't quite as curly. It was when he was really little, though. People have come up and tell us that he looks like Frodo more than once. I have been told that I look exactly like a hobbit. I am 5' 3", rather plump, and I have very curly reddish brown hair. It looks just like Rosie Cotton's, except for the color. My friend looks a lot like Orlando Bloom, although more like from PotC than LotR. When he puts on his sword and hat and cloak, he looks so much like OB at the end of PotC, minus the huge feather on the hat.

Enough sightings to make you question the seeming non-existence of Middle-earth.

The Setting

My mom's birthday. We - a bunch one short of a Fellowship - were wandering about the shores of the "mighty" Manila Bay.

The Sightings

1. We were in the car, looking for a parking space. I was looking outside, then I saw this.

Pub 1418

Now to a hapless ignorant, that wouldn't have elicited a comment, let alone a second look. I pointed to it, and said: "Wasn't that supposed to be '1420'?"

2. We were out of the car. I was blundering about the wide sidewalks, occasionally looking down. Then I stopped. There, in front of me, was Idril's emblem,
http://www.elvenkingdom.net/emblems/Idril_mini.gif
made of arkose sandstone and marble - don't ask: my course requires us taking up Geology -, probably 4 feet square. After overcoming awe, I moved on, only to be confronted by another emblem: Lúthien's.
http://www.elvenkingdom.net/emblems/Luthien2_mini.gif
"OK, this is weird," I said. Hey, what else could I say? So I walked on, expecting those two patterns just to be shown alternately. No. Elwë's emblem, this time.
http://www.elvenkingdom.net/emblems/Elwe_mini.gif
Witty comment needed. Unfortunately, only I was there, probably the most unwitty commentator ever."

"Was the architect of this place an LotR fan?" Not exactly the most original comment.

3. Same sidewalk. Same gait. Different view. Remember the globe thingy Ar-Pharazôn built in Umbar, the one with the big poster that said

Pretty Maia kissed my butt!

Well, I saw about a hundred of those, scattered strategically all over the place. It clicked. There was a haven - actually a sea port - in sight. This was a bay. The Ar-Pharazôn victory sign was erected here. Was this the ancient bay of Belfalas?

I hit a lamp post, and collapsed. The last sentence I made up.

Children can be little Orcses at times. Playground bullies tend to find any excuse to pick on or beat up littler kids. Having a name like Tar-Miriel (even though it's gorgeous and I love it) would probably make it ok in their book to beat a kid up.

On an overcrowded subway today, I was squishing around trying not to fall on anyone or step on anyones feet, I came face to face with Grima. It was very scary. I started screaming, which made him scream back, which made other people close to us scream for no apparent reason, which made the rest of the train start screaming because everyone else was screaming. And then we all stopped and did the wave. And when the doors opened we all charged out screaming (again) "Forth Eorlingas!" or in the case of one small lady, "And this one's for my own Gaffer!" It was very cool.

Well, not really, but I did see Grima. *sigh* why is my life so boring?

I've met Peter Jackson. In New Zealand. It just wasn't the right Peter Jackson....different guy with the same name...

And there's this guy who can do Gollum's voice so well, it's just really amazing...

Um...I know POTC isn't LOTR, but Orlando Bloom is in both, so:

I've seen this guy who I couldn't have sworn was Captain Jack Sparrow. We were at a shared lunch thingy and I just sat there staring. He has the chocolate eyes, and black shoulder-length hair and a goatee (kind of like Jack with a haircut) and he even had a red bandanna on at the time. I met him three times after that, shook his hand and spoke to him on either the first or second night (I can't remember) and got his email address on the third (on the third he looked more like Roux from Chocolat - another Johnny Depp movie). He's Canadian and his name is Matt....and aside from his drop-dead gorgeous looks he has this great personality and wonderful relationship with God (something I don't have at the moment, but I know God is always there for me). Oh, and a girlfriend, and he's 25...if the Impact World Tour comes to where you (whoever's reading this) are, look out for usher Matt...

Okay. I've finished ranting about that.

He doesn't look like Frodo (tall, almost no hair) but his name is Frode. So he's been Frodo for 3 years, now. No need to change that.

Well, my dad has hobbit feet. As close as a human can get. Thankfully, he's taller and did not pass the weird feet on to me. Thank goodness! :D And one of my friends did her hair up all fancy for prom, and looked just like a young-ish Arwen with blonde hair. Odd thought, I know. And the only other one I can think of is a missionary that looked like the black Elrond. It was cool. :smokin:

It made me freak out and hyperventilate, then get really angry because I didn't know where to get one. I wanted to go up and ask them if they were barrowdowners but I had lost my friend in the crowd so I had to go find her... Oh yeah, and if anyone reading this is the lotr kite flyer in question please make yourself known! I was the girl in bright pink who caused a huge collision by running backwards with my kite (random spiraly pattern on blue delta) :D :o

Okay, I went to the Exalibur Fantasy Faire near my home, and-besides couting 65 individual kilts on guys-I saw the Helm of Elendil, the Helm of Gimli, Legolas' knives, Anduril, Narsil, Sting(and scabbard), Gimli's axe(I'm pretty sure), orc and uruk weaponry, and best of all HADHAFANG! I got to hold it and Gimli's helm. 'Twas a fine day. Now, I'm pretty sure I found some LotR people there. Let's see.... Well, I'm pretty sure I found the REAL Glorfindel. No lie. This guy could've been Glorfindel easily (or even Gildor). Oh, and Ghengis Khan had Anduril. Strange... I thought I'd seen Boromir or Faramir one, but It turned out to be Robin Hood. Shucks! Oh, there was a Nazgul. And some Rangers were also present, though they better favoured Haradrim than the men of Halbarad's company. Oh, yes, and Sir Brian in the Iavnhoe-themed joust looked remarkably like Boromir, so it was like watching him die twice in two different ways. Creepy... And Black Rose Costumes was selling awesome skirts and bodices that looked fit for Diamond Took and Rose Gamgee--Elanor the Fair even! There was even a great multitude of Elvish garb. Oh, and I found this one guy in a cloak that looked like the ugly version of Merry with really BIG hair...

OH! I amost forgot! They had the circlets of Arwen, Elrond, and Galadriel, and the Helms of the Witch King, an Isengard orc, and uruk, and a Rohirrim, and they also had Rohirrim and Theoden's armour! Eru! I almost LOST my mind!

Yep so today at school I saw:

- a sevvie (seventh grader ;) ) wearing an Aragorn tshirt
- a car in the parking lot with a license plate that said "ENVT" which anyone who isn't a fool of a took can see stands for "ENT" but is just spelled wrong.

also, one of my so called "friends" stole my Leggy pin off my binder   , which made me go berserk and start screaming during science class when I found it was missing.
Me: IT"S LOST!! MY PRECIOUS IS LOST!
Teacher: Uhuh, can you answer the question now?

I found a shop called "HOBBIT'S HOLLOW." It looks cute! It's got a round green door with a brass knob and everything! Never been inside, but the word "hobbit" caught my eye.

My aunt used to live on Greenleaf Blvd. Every time I passed her house I would start grinning madly. My friends eventually learned not to ask.

*grins madly*
Greenleaf ---> Legolas! Yee!

MAEG

Oh, and before I forget, I have a Legolas action figure that lives on my shelf. I was going to use him to make a stop action cartoon about him tryign to fight a wicked door-to-door salesman (don't ask) but I freaked out when I almost lost his little knife in my backyard. I decided not to take any more chances.

Firstly, I enjoy sneaking up behind my friends and doing a Gollum voice. They jump and yell at me not to do it, because I sound like Andy Serkis and it freaks them out.

There's this guy at my gym who looks like exactly like Aragorn, the movie version.
But once at camp I met this guy who looked like Legolas. This was before the movie came out and I wasn't poisoned by Orlando Bloom, and it was really cool. He had long blond hair and actual pointy ears. He seemed to buy into the whole elf thing too, because we played D&D and he was an elf. (not very original, but o well.)

huge, staring, murderous psycopath eyes. I totally agree. That kid is freaky! They should have given the ring to Sam and let Frodo get eaten by the Watcher in the Water. Sam would have taken the thing directly to Mordor, avoided Gollum completely, and ended the film in an hour and a half. But then what would we talk about here on the Downs? Our social lives? Pah! Not likely!!

By the way, there is a restaurant in Portland, Oregon called the Plush Pippin. I didn't stop there, but I wondered what the interior decoration of such an establishment would look like... Pippin plushies and Bag End decor? Hmmm... Their menu is probably nothing but mushrooms. I feel kinda stupid for not noticing this sooner. My sister has this video game called "Kingdom Hearts" (Strange game, but somehow addictive. It combines Final Fantasy characters with, believe it or not, disney characters) and in one level the bad guys are called "Wight Knights." She's had the game since last December, and I've just now made the connection. Anyway, the Wight Knights are these weird mummy-looking things with metal ribs. Disney characters and undead metal mummies... the two don't seem to go together, but it all works out.

And another-- My sister rented the "Shrek 2" video game from blockbuster, and it is a total ripoff of about eighty other games and movies! In one part, the characters try to get to the land of Far Far Away, so the big bad wolf suggests that they take a shortcut through an underground mine that looks suspiciously like Moria. There are even dwarves inside! They're supposed to be Snow White's Seven Dwarves, but we all know they're ripoffs of Balin and company!! They can't fool me! And what makes me angrier is that frog people live in the mine. For one thing, frogs probably wouldn't live in a mine, but what really ticked me off is that the frog people are direct ripoffs from the Baldur's Gate Dark Allaince II game! But that's not LOTR related, so I'll shut up now.

Andy, Sean, Dom, Elijah, Richard Taylor, and some of the guys from Weta all attended. I was able to meet Andy, Sean, and Richard, but Dom and Elijah only came one day, and of course they were the most popular, and they only did one signing and an appearance at the New Line presentation, so it was very hard to get to them. So I didn't get to meet him, but I was about 20 feet away (I was in the signing line, but they cut it off right in front of me :( ). But it was still pretty cool that Frodo was right over there and I wasn't seeing him through a television or a film projector.

Woot! Woot! ALERT! ALERT!

New LOTR merchandise at Hot Topic!!

For ladies, they have a variety of Legolas shirts, an Aragorn shirt, and a Merry and Pippin shirt. Guys have a variety of t-shirts, too. My favorite is one that says "I went to Middle Earth and all I got was this crummy ring!"

Random merchandise that only we hard core fans would care about: Pens, air fresheners, bumper stickers, note cards, tin lunch boxes, action figures, and a throw rug. Most of which feature Legolas.

I assume every Hot Topic store across America will be teeming with fans. Oh, adn this isn't LOTR, but Hot Topic's got new Pirates of the Carribbean stuff, too. Johnny... Orlando... *drool*

Even as I was singing it I knew it wasn't the right word; plus I immediatly thought of Smeagol and nearly burst out laughing.
That's like me during winter holidays, singing the 12 Days Of Christmas.. I tend to get angry about the inaccuracy of the 5th verse, so I changed it to "Ooone goooolden riiiing" and just make it five partriges in a pear tree, to balance things out. ;)

Also speaking of LOTR references, anyone read the 4th book in the Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison? the title varies depending on the country it's printed in, but for the U.S. it's "Away Laughing on a Fast Camel" and in England its "And Then It Fell Off In My Hand" or something like that. Anyway, in it, Georgia roundly bashes elves and LOTR parties, which hurts me but we still love her. I'm sure the author was just staying in character and doesn't actually think that. It's still hilarious anyway, go read it. :smokin:

I finally had a REAL LOTR sighting!!!YAAAAAAAAY!!!!
We were coming home from basketball camp today when I saw this big, silver, box like thingie beside a railroad track that said Oliphant ST. I just kind of stared as the bus went by trying to make it register in my head. Then I shouted above our bus radio "It says Oliphant!! I got to tell them about this!!".( "them"meaning you people on the Downs.)I don't know what ST stands for though, I'm pretty sure it didn't stand for street.

I'm so happy,

Yay Vuelve, I'm so happy for you, lol... love your avatar btw. Oh yeah I finally saw Shrek 2 i LUUURVED it and i was like the only one in the theater laughing my head off at the LOTR reference.

My most recent lotr sighting was a girl playing violin on a sidewalk downtown. I didn't pay attention until I heard the familiar strains of the Rohan theme wafting through the air.... And then I went crazy. :D I would have gone over to ask if she was a barrowdowner but i was in a restaurant at the time with the family for fathers day so i was absolutely not permitted to leave, ack. Anyway, if that was you, pm me!

yay okay in this film camp I'm going to, they went on about how LOTR is one of the great movies and all and asked us, "So, who's seen ROTK?" which sent me into hysterics. Also they had a poster of it on the wall so i couldnt stop staring. I must persuade the counselors to let us analyze the movie... frame by frame.. hehehe.

You guys really have seen some strange things umm well I was walking to school one morning groaning about exams when I got to the main road anyway this blue car drove past me I got a good look at the driver.

And I swear he looked exactly like Bilbo I thought I was seeing things at first I went to look again but the car had already gone I was talking about it all day

:D Boy did my friends think I was crazy on that day cause most of them don't like lord of the rings they tell me to shut up about it all the time.

I thought I saw Frodo once I never got another look at him I was pretty unhappy about that my friends just rolled their eyes when I told them about seeing Frodo  figures.

Ya'll know how a couple of posts up I got real excited about my first LOTR sighting? It just dawned on me a couple of weeks ago that that wasn't my first sighting. On your way into town there is a Greenleaf Angus Ranch and Greenleaf Missionary Church.I remember going 'o look its says Greenleaf!' but it never registered as a true sighting.Thats sad.

There is this guy in my Ancient Civ class that has the Elijah Wood eyes..... it's creepy. He doesn't talk much, and he is kinda rude, so I don't talk to him.

I'm not sure if this can count as a true sighting because it was only my interpretation on an event but anyway . . . I was at kung fu and we were doing this weird exercise which involved walking forwards in a strange way. We did this up and down the hall and when i got to the end I turned around to watch my friend. When she got to the end she was just behind this other person and she bobbed up and down just like Frodo when he does his weird little dance at the party in FotR. It was so freakily similar that I just broke into hysterical laughter and the whole lesson was held up while I tried to a) stop laughing and b) explain my amusement. But it looked just like it! Even her facial expression was the same!

It's so familiar to me, I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but Pippin Street (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=343000&Y=410000&width=500&height=300&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=GB&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&scale=25000&multimap.x=171&multimap.y=68) is a place close to my parents' house. I can't say I recommend a trip there though, there's nothing but fields. :)

Elijah Wood came in disguise to our Burn Camp (it's a Christian camp) - he called himself Luke and said that he was 18, as opposed to 22.

And a girl who looks like Arwen/Liv Tyler came to the same camp, but she didn't look quite as much like Liv and Luke did Elijah.

Cheers,

There is an Inn near to me called the "Old Toby Inn", the pipe weed reference aside, the land lord there looks almost exactly (Although not entirely) completely not unlike Barliman Butterbur.

So it is interesting, (though not very interesting), that one expects him to have a Butterbur like voice… which of course he does... on occasion, though not all of the time. I think he puts it on when I am around.

hahahaha... I'm a part time rockwall instructor at our local gym and over the weekend, a coworker and i were putting helmets on our students (5th/6th graders) and he had chalk from climbing on his hands, so when he let go of one helmet, there was his handprint in white chalk on the front. I started laughing my head off and when he started giving me weird glances i tried to explain about the uruk hai helmets with the white hand of saruman, but he was like... Um.. If you say so... while trying to edge away from me. I'm so misunderstood. :(

Until recently I lived near a city called Riverdale. We were shopping one day, and I asked my parents if we could go to "Rivendell" so I could go to this store to see if they added any new Tolkien books to their Tolkien section. When I realized what I had just said, I nearly passed out in a giggle-fit. My mom didn`t get what I was laughing at, but my dad did. "What do you want to go to Rivendell for? Want to see if your Strider is there?" he asked me. I`ve done that 3 times now. ;)

By the way Lady Snickerdoodle, I love your sig! :D

I just noticed today that a garbage can outside my school says "Pippin & Frodo Rock". Why it says that, I have no idea, but it sure made me happy to see it. :)

One of my teachers resembles Ejiah, except he's very, very tall and has brown eyes. One of my (female) classmates asked me if I would ask him out. O_o;

Here's a little fun thing: When me and a couple friends were talking about LotR during lunch, I mimicked Gollum. They seriously were freaked out by it. Heh heh heh... Silly people... I mean, all I said was:
They ssstole it from usss... Nasssty Hobbitsesss... Thievesss... They took our Preciousss, yesss...
I'm planing on mimicking one of the Ring-Wraiths next... *evil grin*

There's a person/humanoid (I'm not sure :) ) at my work that walks like an orc. I've actually met the real SEAN ASTIN. I went to his book signing. god he was beautiful. i'm sorry wrong thread.

I acted in a play once with a guy that looked exactly like orlando bloom! I played a seductress and got to seduce his character, believe me, it wasn't hard.

OMG I WENT TO THE BOOK SIGNING TOO!!! ONLY (yeah i ranted about this in the other thread) my NON RINGNUT relatives were like no we can go 30 minutes before, its ok its not like it'll be a mob scene. They wouldn't listen to me at all, i didnt understand... Anyway so we were 800th in line so i never even got close, unless you count the fact that i was actually standing in the no-ppl place (completely by accident- long story) when he walked in. THe security guards were like EXCUSE ME OUT OF THE WAY but they weren't quick enough and he walked by me 4 feet away and smiled at me. it was the most amazing experience ever.

Anyway.. wow i haven't been on here for aaaages i've been so busy (BUT I STILL LOVE YOU GUYS!!!) so the latest news is that i finally got a real bf, but he does not resemble orlando bloom or legolas in any way unless you count that he is blond. *sigh* oh well...
