Since all of us Americans have just been celebrating Thanksgiving, I thought we could do a thread about it.

What Tolken related things are you thankful for?

and/or

What kinds of things would Lord of the Rings characters be thankful for.

and/or

What would a Lord of the Rings Thanksgiving be like?

Try not to make this a list. Be creative and insightful. smilies/wink.gif

I am thankful for the Two Towers Extended Edition and for the pending release of the Return of the King!

On a more, serious note, I am also thankful that I have such exciting and interesting peers to debate and exchange knowledge with on this fine website! smilies/biggrin.gif

I'm thankful that someone decided to make the written LotR trilogy into a movie trilogy. (That doesn't mean I think that they did an excellent job of it.)

I think Frodo would be thankful for being able to go and rest in the Grey Havens.

Éowyn: I am thankful for Arwen sailing to Valinor... What! she came back?!

I'm guessing that you guys are all from the states right? I'm sitting up here in Canada and we had our thanksgiving weeks ago. But I'll have so fun none the less.

I am thankful for this site, and having something to do while skipping Foods class.

I am thankful for the LOTR scale dubbles. Little mini Frodos, Merrys, Sams and Pippins running around make it far more believable.

No, I'm from the Philippines, but no one cares...

I'm thankful you people exist, so I don't have to fester in inactivity due to the lack of LotR fans here. Group hug! *hugs*

OK, that was weird.

Hi Aina!
No, I'm from the Philippines, but no one cares...
I do! I lived there for 3 years! so cool... They don't have thanksgiving there, though, do they...(just kidding)

I'm gonna do the whole fellowship-
Frodo- I am thankful for the mithril coat that kept me from being "skewered like a wild boar" or whatever the quote was
Sam- I am thankful for Bill ("I luuuv you bill!")
Merry/Pippen- We're thankful for mushrooms, which seem to conveniently grow wherever we need them
Boromir- I will try to be thankful that there will soon be a ruler in Gondor much more competent than me or dear daddy
Aragorn- I am thankful for my ability to look sexy even when I'm covered in dirt and blood.
Legolas- I am thankful for my secret horde of hairdressers that no one knows about *cough*, (because I keep them well hidden in Lothlorien cloaks)
Gandalf- I am thankful for (umm, what would gandalf be thankful for?) the fact that we no longer have to trip over various tom-fool-of-a-took's and that the orcs took them away... far away...
Gimli- (okay I'm running out of brainpower here) I am thankful for Aragorn making me go to Lothlorien, otherwise I might never have met Galadriel... What are you all staring at me for!!!!!!!!!

I know these aren't funny but I tried... *hides in a dark corner whimpering*

I'll second that! *hugs*

I am thankful for Extended DVDs, most especially all the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I am thankful that RotK is coming out soon.

Sam is (possibly, just a little) thankful for Gollum, because if Gollum did not bite off Frodo's finger and fall into Mt. Doom, Sam probably would have had to push Frodo in to save Middle-Earth.

Sauron is thankful for Palantirs.

Well, here's my version of a LOTR thanksgiving:
It was originally set to be held in the Shire because most hobbits love parties, and food. But then came the idea of bringing in the races of men, elves, and possibly dwarves. Then they decided against it, for many hobbits are afraid of the "bigger folk". The next location decided on was Bree, for the hobbits there were used to other races.

So in someones home they held the first Thanksgiving dinner in Middle Earth. Hobbits, of course, brought plenty of ale for everyone to drink. Men and women brought great deserts like pies. Dwarves, brought nice meat. Though some made the mistake of nimbling the lembas that came from the elves, making them completely full.

Yes, he would have to. Else, the Nazgul would take them both and force them to do footrubs...forever. Something Frodo's thankful for.

Random Silm characters.

Fëanor: I'm thankful Morgoth never took the Silmarils...oh, wait. He did! smilies/rolleyes.gif

Finrod: I'm thankful I died. Else I would have to face the humiliation of being beaten by a dog.

Beren: I'm thankful for...prosthetics.

Sauron: I'm thankful for those shades I gave to Eönwë and his gang. They never saw me! smilies/cool.gif
