View Full Version : What obsessive things do YOU do?

I'm sure this has already been done somewhere, but I can't find it. Anyhoo, just what things have YOU done that would be considered obsessive?
Yesterday, while babysiting, I held up the baby's teething ring and said, "This is an evil ring that must be taken to a volcano and destroyed." He just looked at me. I mean, after all, he's only 8 months old. smilies/rolleyes.gif

Well, better sooner than later that he knows that!
I bought the One Ring, and once my sister was like, Oh can I just try it on, and I wouldn't let her because I thought she would keep it and not give it back (like what Boromir would do)

Lesse... I do a lot of (bad) crafts centered around LotR. But I think the biggest thing I did was start a club. Wheeee! Boy, does that make you obsessed when you run something around a subject or what? smilies/tongue.gif My friends call me The Ringer. Course, they belong to the club, so I don't know where they have the right to claim they're not... smilies/biggrin.gif

i bought the one ring too, and my friends litle brother was trying it on, and he was running around the house screaming 'AHHH mom! i'm invisible!'
and when i do my gollum impression at school, well let's just say i scared some people. my teacher actually wrote on my report card once '...and her golum voice is really scary...' (i know. she cant spell gollum.)
i draw countless pictures of my cartoon lotr characters. it's fun. smilies/evil.gif

lemme see....i once convinced all my classmates to see lord of the rings:FOTR and PAID FOR ALL OF THEM. needless to say, they loved it. I had my notebooks filled with LOTR doodles and had my artworks stuck to my walls. also, convinced my dad to "forge" me Sting (he's good in metalworks). And also, perhaps my craziest: I screamed "SHARKEY" inside the theater where Christopher Lee played Count Dooku in SW:EP2... he he he. smilies/biggrin.gif

Welcome to the Downs, edhel! ...and it's really cool what your dad did.
I am totally obsessed with anything by Tolkien. Last Friday, I saw The Unfinished Tales---the ONE and ONLY copy---at my favorite bookstore and grabbed it, and then looked over to my left and to my right to see if anyone was looking. And then to confirm if I REALLY had the ONLY copy,I looked throught the whole Fantasy section just to make sure.
After all that, I finally bought it, even if I was supposed to buy a gift for my best friend (I wasn't able to find the book I wanted to get her anyway...)

Remember in the movie, at The Prancing Pony, when Frodo is sitting at the table with Sam, and he pulls the ring out, and starts turning it over between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, rolling it over and over, running his fingers over the edge of it, almost slipping it on but not quite?
I do that, with a big bulky band that I usually wear on my right index finger.
Problem is when I misjudge and drop it, it clangs very loudly.
(I have yet to trip, toss the ring in the air, and have it land on my index finger as I fall.)

I'm not really obsessed (at least I hope so)but...
Well i too have this problem with rings. I usually wear several and I always fumble with them and drop them in most unsutable places.
One morning I ran into a colleague of mine who just said 'good morning'. Nothing unusual, but I was only half-awake and in especially lousy mood. I quoted Gandalf's reply from the beginning of 'The Hobbit' And that colleague took it as a personal insult (as I was told later) WHY ??? smilies/rolleyes.gif

Besides the ring thing, which I think we are all guilty of, something JUST happened to me (like, two minutes ago) that I thought was a bit obsessive. Me and my sister were sitting down here looking at a website in the dark when we heard someone coming down the stairs. My sister whispered "Someone's coming" and I replied with "Something draws near, I can feel it" She just rolled her eyes at me. I don't really blame her really. She's not as fanatic as I am, but still I dragged her 5 of the 9 (Holy number that!)times I saw the movie. smilies/evil.gif: *snicker*

Hmmmmmm, something obsessed. Well, I am writing a quasi-scifi LOTR story, concerning disruptions between our dimensional plane and the one in which ME exists(all original characters, NO MS). And I'm helping my brother write the script for his ME parody; he plans to film it before summer's over. Filming a parody, I don't know if that's obsessed or not. smilies/wink.gif

Obsessive, eh? Well, I probably shouldn't be doing this, because I am obsessive-compulsive - not to mention some other disorders...
Anyways, what have I done?
*went shopping for someones b.day present and ended up buying myself some rather expensive memorabelia and the person a cheap gift. (my mom gave me money for it! smilies/biggrin.gif)
*I talk in riddles without realizing it.
*I start singing Aniron or May it Be (usually Aniron) out loud. All the time, and at the worst times.
*I memorized full scenes from FOTR... even the ones in Sindarin or Quendi...
*I turned my bedroom into a shrine for LOTR.
*I've done more stuff that's obsessive about LOTR and stuff that is obsessive about other things too. Elijah and Orlando to be a few other things. smilies/tongue.gif
Good enough?

Oh yeah... I do wear a gold ring on a clunky silver chain around my neck, so everyone I know always has to say something about how crazy I am. Then I just remind them that I am on meds.
But the ring thing isn't because of LOTR, although that sounds saner, but it's because my father gave me the ring... It's hard to explain... There's a whole big thing behind the scenes, if you know what I mean.
And yes, I am guilty of having LOTR dreams. None which are less than the rating of 18A, of course. I have almost total control over them...
But LOTR isn't the only movies/books that I am absolutely mad over...
Two words. (Please don't kill me for saying it!) Harry Potter.
I just started having dreams about it. Pretty cool. I made out with Harry and Draco (not at the same time! Eew!)
Anyways... I've done some crazy stuff like that... Oh, and I have already planned what my friends and I are doing for the premier of TTT. Of course, I'm making them dress up in costume (I'm either going as an elf or myself - a LOTR freak. I actually have those two costumes. Almost done making them. As in starting to make them. smilies/biggrin.gif Any suggestions on which I should go as?) and then we're taking a limo to the theater downtown for the first showing. Unfortunately, I can't buy the tickets yet! Ah! Maybe in a month I can. Blame the box office!
Oh yeah, don't kill me for being a SW and HP freak too!
Elenna
07-17-2002, 07:03 PM
List of obsessive things Elenna has done:
1) spent 200 dollars on fabric for my TTT costume. (I'll be paying my dad back till I'm 30)
2) bought one of those cheap ring reproductions, wore it to school and danced around saying "you can't see me"
3) scream at mean people "Go back to the shadow, for you shall not pass!"
4) smacked someone for making fun of Ian McKellen for being gay.
5) smacked someone for saying that the elves were all women
6) convinced everyone to call me Elenna instead of my real name
7) am working a summer job to buy a sword
8) wrote music for most of the LOTR songs and randomly break out into A! Elbereth Gilthoniel!
Does this make me obsessed?

I work at a movie theater. Trust me, we DO NOT care if you dress up. It's something to talk about when its dead there, but thats about it.
We usually get in free to see the movies, but i couldnt get in free opening night, so i had to pay full price to get me and my dad (was also a huge LOTR fan as a kid) in. I would sneak into the theater all the time to watch the preview, which would in evitably turn me into a grinning zombie during the course of said trailer. Just before i saw the movie (as in 10 minute before getting in the car to go) i was hopping around like a 5 year old kid that had to go to the bathroom.
What else...i sing May it be and In Dreams to myself, i tabbed out the theme to the movie on guitar, and that idea of the ring on the chain sounds really appealing to me. I have mentally come up with a fan fic that could fill a whole book, and would attempt if i had never tried it before and kinda trailed off after 60 pages.
if anyone wants the guitar tabes for the movie theme, PM me.

More signs that I am obsessed:
-have a desire for pointy ears
-sing In Dream when no one is around
-wish I could change my birth name to Brinn
-I squeal with delight each time I find something LOTR related in magazines and read the sentence over and over.

You're more annoyi... I mean obsessed than I am!! Hey, at least nobody here walks into a room and is greeted with, "NO MORE ABOUT LORD OF THE RINGS!!!" That'd be really bad. Okay, things that make me obsessive:
-I come here every chance I get, which makes me quite a hermit.
-I come into semi-fantasy themed shops just to see what they have on LotR.
-I am offended whenever I hear someone insult elves, as I am one (no, I don't WISH I was one, I AM one)
-My dad cannot call me his precious anymore without adding a disclaimer
-I have grown to dislike fairy-tales where elves are little Santa elves with candy cane-striped kneesocks, ears that could sail a ship, and are always dancing about in the stupidest ways.
-I have grown to dislike any fantasy world in which elves are impish folk, or in which dwarves are anything other than Tolkien's dwarves.
-I say, "O Iluvatar help you" instead of "Oh for the love of God" now.
-I am accustomed to drawing pointy ears in all of my people sketches.
-I draw everyone with long hair put back elvish-style.
-I just saw the movie for the 5th time.
-I haven't listened to any CD besides the soundtrack for the movie in three months.

Reasons Elenna thinks she is part elf.
1) i have pointy ears. Naturally. They just, I don't know...point!
2) An intrinsic dislike of the color black. Sorry, BW.
3) When I tried archery for the first time at camp, I could hit the inner ring and bullseye of the target from my first shot.
4) I ride horses and sometimes they respond to noro lim!
5) I don't consider Elijah Wood hot. That could just be common sense, though.

Errr!!! THis girl is really getting on my nerves. Today i was forced to remove the chain with the ring on it, for our concert. (we had to look nice, so they put it) apperently it didnt go with my outfit. (we had to wear all black) She made fun of me because i insisted that it must not be taken off, and that if i did take it off then the nazgul would come for the ring and ruin our concert. In the end i put up a really good argument and got to keep the ring on, (though it had to be unseen.)

Today I had to do all I could do to keep myself from slapping my friend. Galadriel, next time that girl makes fun of you, slap her. No, not really! I'm just kidding. What you should really do is just ignore her. She only wants a reaction. If you don't give her one, she'll get bored with making fun of you, and leave you alone. It works like a charm with my brother. By the way, if she's your friend, she isn't a very good one if she makes fun of you.

I may not have done something obsessive, but I do a lot of weird things.
For example, my English, (which used to be like every teenagers,) now sounds more like ... well, a bit like Tolkiens. smilies/tongue.gif
Two weeks ago I had made a personal t-shirt, and I chose it to say "Lúthien Melephel" (my Elvish names) instead of just "Anne". That may not sound of much, but with a group of 50 ignorants it is very brave! smilies/cool.gif
I constantly practise my Gollum and my Elvish, though I'm not as good as one could wish. smilies/frown.gif
Everytime I get the chance to touch a computer I log on to BD smilies/rolleyes.gif
I totally freaked out because a friend of mine bought a lot card game with LotR, but she didn't tell me until we had left all opportunities for finding one in the next 5 years or so!!! smilies/mad.gif
Since december I've cut out every single article or whatever which mentions LotR. That now means I have loads of stuff about Spiderman, Star Wars and even a Danish writer lying all over my room. (They say Tolkien would have disliked her - but they mention his name!!)

Actually, I like LOTR, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. I went through a recent Spider-man obsession. My 'obssessions' turn into fanfic.
My obssessive things:
1. Took the One Ring off the bookmark and put it on spare gold necklace chain.
2. Saw LOTR:FOTR five times (The most I've ever seen a movie)
3. Wore said Ring probably twice to the theater.
4. Might be an Elf or a Hobbit for Halloween.
5. Thought of Saruman in Orthanc during Star Wars Episode II
6. Might dress up as an Elf for The Two Towers.

I'm obsesed with the Ringwraiths and Gollum! Yeah, I can imitate the Ringwraith scream perfectly and can scare the living hell outta anyone with it. And the second, third, and fourth times I saw the movie, I repeated every line Gollum says. Plus, its fun to sit in the very top seat of the theatre and when the credits is scrolling, make fun shadow puppets on the screen! smilies/smile.gif Oh yeah, I am sewing a Nazgul robe for Halloween. O, I AM too old for trick-or-treating, but its fun hiding in bushes and doing the Nazgul scream and watching kiddies run away with wettened pants, yesssss... LOL.
I'm also wearing the said costume to the TT premiere in my city.

2. I think I'm an elf....
3. I always manage to bring LOTR into conversations.
I wish I had pointed ears...Ros, where did you get them?
4. I nearly always dream about LOTR

I had a really scary dream the other night- Sauron was in my backyard! smilies/eek.gif http://216.40.241.68/contrib/blackeye/SHOCKED.gif
Two of my friends and I somehow knew Sauron was at my home somewhere, taking the form of something, so we were searching for him (stupid idea, I know, but I get stupider later), and suddenly my mom calls out from the backyard saying she found him. We rush outside and she's being dive-bombed by this white hawk. I rush over to my mom, the hawk lands on the ground about 5 feet away, and my friends jump in the pool (don't ask me why). Here's where I get stupider: I start to taunt the hawk, saying, "You're gonna DIE!" and "You're gonna die TODAY!" But the hawk did nothing. It was weird. Then I woke up.

It's not exactly obsessive, but I enjoy listening to the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack a great deal. I have probably heard each track five times, and I'm really impressed with Howard Shore's ability to translate the ancient and profound feeling conveyed in the book to music. Enya's songs are also excellent.

One of my friends think Gollum's voice is really creepy (dunno why, she hasn't seen the movie, or read the book..), so each time I meet her, I creep uo behind her and whisper "It's mine.. My own.. My precious.. in my best Gollum voice.. Some people think I'm a little obsessed when they look at the collection of posters on my walls... Gandalf, Frodo, orcs, from the movie, not from the movie... And I once tried reading LOTR in my maths class. FOTR TTT and ROTK in one book of course... Somehow my teacher spotted it.. But the coolest thing is, he let me read it!

i do a lot of obsessive things. Like just a couple of minutes ago, my mom started screaming. So I went to see what it was, and it was this huge spider. So i grabbed a shoe, and yelled "die! spawn of ungoliant!!!" than my mom was more afraid of me than she was of the spider.

Okay, I know this is not exactly obsessive, but Sunday when I rented LotR again, my brother watched part of the movie with me, and he was not very nice! He called Legolas the "bow and arrow guy with the pigtails", and for some reason, he renamed Frodo "Frank". When he was stabbed by the Nazgűl at Weathertop, he said, "Why is he crying like a little baby?" And during the scene right after Arwen set the water on the Nazgűl and Frodo was being healed, my brother shouted, "Fraaaaaaaaank! Why? WHY?!" I know he's just doing it to annoy me, but it worked! After a while, I just ignored him, cuz some of the things he said were kinda funny, but still!

Last winter, after my friend and I had just seen FotR for the,I believe, second time,we were alone in her big farm house. It was snowy outside.I snuck upstairs and grabbed an old broom handle, tied an afghan around my neck, and declared myself an elf.I chased her around as she objected to my childishness. But then she followed suit, and insisted we have elven brooches (which were actually old pieces of costume jewelry, but you see where I'm going.).We ran all over the place, outside and all through the house in this fashion, and beat the daylights out of a cave troll.Actually,it was a giant stuffed tiger her mom got for Christmas, but that's beside the point. We decided it was a success, though she won't admit it ever happened now.I can't blame her.We are 20 years old. smilies/wink.gif

My friends and family are about to dump me out in the street or something. All I talk about is Tolkien. It is totally obsessive. I read the books about every three weeks just to learn more of ME. At school, one of my friends said she would slap me if I said one more thing about LOTR. But, sadly, I couldn't stop. It's a habit. And now, suddenly, I have decided to become Skitsophrenic (sp?) and become like Gollum. Probably not, but I do tend to say, "My Precious!!!" a whole lot lately. LOTR isn't cool at my school, and everyone thinks I'm a freak or something because I sit around and read 1000 page books all day. I don't, just LOTR. But I don't really care what they think. I'm obsessed. I admit it. And I don't really care. If I'm going to get obsessed about something, at least it's something cool like this. Right? Right. Anyway, I think I made my point across. smilies/smile.gif

Let's see, as soon as I got the soundtrack, Ilistened to it practically non-stop,but sometimes my family got mad at me so I put on Matrix soundtrack, I'm on barrowdowns whenever I can, I refuse to buy half the merchandise because it's not real, I want a sword and a bow and arrows, I refuse to let my mom finish a cloak because it's like a short elven cloak, my little sister got mad at me because we had agreed that she'd buy sims vacation(don't ask) and I'd buy LOTR, but I'm watching LOTR too much so she cant watch, I'm compliling a script of FOTR and I'm trying to get it perfect, I quote the movie and book all the time, I actually own elven boots, when I wore this jacket I have with a certain pair of pants, and those boots a friend actually called me an elf, and I have a set of Sherlock Holmes books that are dark green (there's two of them) and that same friend told me that they looked like elven books, and the only reason I haven't read Unfinished tales or HoME or LT is:
A. Because my parents refuse to buy any Tolkien books edited by Christopher Tolkien.
B. My school library (which is the third largest library in my city) doesn't carry them, and
C. I spent all my money buying FoTR and I haven't gotten my allowance yet.
I would LOVE a golden ring to string around my neck (I even have the perfect necklace) but I don't know where to get them! smilies/eek.gif Anyway, I also have worn out a three book set of LoTR as in FOTR has the first 42 pages falling out, the entire bit between Lothlorien and Parth Galen and the cover is taped back on, TTT has the cover almost ripped off, the first 4 pages are falling out, and Helm's Deep is falling out, and RoTK has the entire front of the book torn off (as in up to Minas Tirith), the entire last three appendixes no longer share the same binding, and the box that holds them is ripped. My newer copy of FOTR has the binding bent in many places, some of the coloring one the letters is gone along with along the binding, the very first page is ripped, I inscribed my name in dwarf runes in the front, my book automatically opens to the beginning of the chapter The Bridge Of Khazad-Dum, and I usually have my little dwarf rune cheat sheet there. I think i should stop babbling on now. smilies/tongue.gif

I dont do much. I reguarly quote the book and film, have a shrine in my bedroom, bought a box of yucky cinnimon cereal (promising to eat it all, and did) just for the holigraphic LOTR card of elrond and got my friend to get two more, read the book secretly during lessons, bring it up just enough to be labled crazy, watched it three times without stopping when it arrived on DVD and am now learning Elvish. Oh, and I also do that ring thing that someone mentioned, to the extent that I did trip up, but failed to catch it.

What does LaurinaAinur do that's obsessive? Wait a minute...you can't expect me to put it ALL here. How about:
Plans to start a M-E community...a 'New Age' (Har Har..Balrog joke aka 'Gollum's Secret Diary') town where all kinds of Middle-Earthians can dwell together in peace, speaking the languages, wearing the clothes ect. and no one will think we're wierd.
Reads at least one Tolkien book every week
Has read LOTR 10 times...starting with FotR, then TTT, then RotK...then starts over again
Has been saving up to buy a nice Ring but the resolve is weakening...is getting ready to buy a cheap one...feels so naked without one around her neck on a chain
Has gotten all six brothers and sisters AND dad hooked on LotR...quote Tolkien (and speak Elvish extensively) to one another...insult each other in Elvish and compare people we know or see to characters from the books and movie
Plans to sew herself a cloak reminiscent of Strider's for the winter...and wear it to college
Will wear Strider cloak to the TT movie...with a sword, boots and my stringy, unwashed hair
Would say much more but is worried about the sound she is hearing...possibly the neighbor's horse but sounds uncommonly like a Ringwraith. Will be back after investigating. *Creeps stealthily away*

The most obsessive thing I've done lately was this morning. I was getting ready for school and I went to put on my necklace with my cheap imitation ring(not the point here) on. I could have sworn I put it on my dresser, but it wasn't there. I went through my whole room looking for it, then I remembered it might be in the pocket of the pants I'd worn yesterday and put in the laundry hamper. I went and looked in the pocket and it wasn't there. My mom asked me what I was doing and I said "I'm looking for the One Ring. If I don't find it Sauron's going to find it and that'll be the end of the world as we know it!" She just gave me this weird look and rolled her eyes. It was pretty funny. And, by the way, I DID find the ring. It is around my neck right now. I also quote whenever possible.

Today, when I was walking my dog, I had the strangest feeling that a car would be coming down the road soon. I said to my dog (yes, I talk to my dog. So what?), "I think we should get off the road." A few moments later, I look behind me, and there's a car coming so I say, "Get off the road! Quick!"

Okay. . . let's see. . . Oh! I named my seat on the bus Numenor because it's like an island (all the seats around it are empty). When I read, I'm reading a Middle-Earth book, listening to the LotR CD, and using a Legolas bookmark that I hand-made myself.
Aaaand. . . when I had to get married for a test grade (in other words, it was a project), I named my oldest "son" Sam, and I wanted to name my "daughter" Aerin, but I decided to change it to Eryn 'cause I don't want my "husband" to think I'm insane. I also named "our" cat Laurelin and wanted to name the dog Arnil (Noble White), but he didn't want to. smilies/frown.gif Okay, I've bored you all long enough.

Ooh. I don't like the word 'obsessive.' It has bad connotations. 'Aficionado' is better. But then, how do you describe what you do? 'Aficionado-ish'? Hmm. OK, done babbling. Sorry, it's late. Anyway, aficionado-ish things that I do...
Well, I do the ring thing..but I think everyone here does.
One of my cats is named Merry(although I had her long before I discovered Tolkien...I maintain that it's a God thing smilies/smile.gif). Next pet I'd like to aquire is an orange teddy bear hamster to be named Gothmog. I named a friend's puppy Pippin -- odd thing is, he does look like a hobbit.
Umm..I made a LOTR board game(found the directions on the Tolkien Sarcasm Page) for a different friends birthday. (She's a Tolkienite too, so she loved it.) With this same friend, I once play-acted our very own parody of the Quest, with vegetables from one of those Fisher-Price kitchens(we were supposed to be babysitting). The other friend with us was...well..highly amused. Guess there's nothing like the sight of Frodo the Plastic Pizza Slice running around with the One Hot Pepper of Doom smilies/rolleyes.gif.
At one point, I was in the habit of eating a snack at 11:00 PM and calling it 'elevensies'. And I suppose my rants about the injustice of removing Tom Bombadil, Crickhollow, Fatty Bolger, Glorfindel etc. from the movie couldbe called obsessive. Sort of smilies/smile.gif. Ok, I think I've said enough, so I'm going to stop now.

Well, to quote the webmaster, the Tolkien Sarcasm Page is "a small but dense collection of strange documents, fun activities and crackpot theories inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien". It's also a heck of a lot of fun -- especially the Tolkien Crackpot Theories. Here's a link.

Obsessive? ME? Nahhh...
*I plan on dressing as an Elf for Halloween and when I go to see TTT
*Last weekend we had a bit of a family reunion and went out to a big restaurant...I wore my hair Legolas-style and was wearing a necklace that said LEGOLAS in letter beads with two green leaf beads on either side of the name...and I was calling my 6 year old niece "my hobbit" and did the whole "2nd breakfast" thing with her. Then she dived under our table and came up holding one of my Celtic band rings--it had fallen off my finger. It was the way she was holding it...I burst out "IT'S THE ONE RING! YOU'RE FRODO! MY PRECCIOUSSS!" And she and my 14 year old niece burst out laughing, but nobody else heard me because they were talking so loud *grin*
*I'm starting to act like an Elf...sitting/standing and watching silently...loving the woods like a wood-Elf...the posture, the silent walking...
*I'm saving up to buy The One Ring or something smilies/biggrin.gif And I'm ready for the action figures!!! I hope Mom understands....LOL And also saving up to get the extended DVD!
*I've seen the movie 6 times and seen the Special Features about as often!
*I greatly desire to learn archery...had a kick at it when I was 7 and have always wanted to do it since, especially now... Then I want to buy a bow and quiver and arrows and take them into the woods and just walk among the trees...with my Legolas hairdo... smilies/rolleyes.gif Ad almost every night I dream I'm shooting arrows!
*I've abandoned a story I've been writing since I was 13 and working furiously on a fanfic!
*I'm currently custom-making LOTR dollz for one of my websites! I watched the movie again just to put down the exact descriptions of the characters' clothes for it!!
*I'm attempting to make LOTR stationery for myself!
*I'm trying to get Mom hooked on LOTR, as she's a fantasy fanatic, and I know she's going to fall hard for Legolas because he's going to remind her of Link in her much loved "Legend of Zelda" video games! I'm going to get her to make me an Elven cloak and I'm going to buy Elven-looking boots...
*I'm trying to invent hte languages of the story I started when I was 13 that I've abandoned for my fanfic...LOL. I'm even speaking the language as I make it up! I WANNA BE LIKE TOLKIEN!!! He's my idol smilies/tongue.gif
*One of my friends loves book Legolas but detests movie Legolas and is always devising ways to torture him, and we have fun spats because of that, and she threatened to track me down and hang me if I was Arwen for Halloween
*Whenever I see mushrooms, I feign Pippin's accent and yell "MUSHROOMS!"
Obsessed? I think not! smilies/biggrin.gif

Well, I play the soundtrack music on my piano, I have LotR playing cards, I have LotR music CDs, I'll be getting the extended edition and then I'll watch it whenever I get a chance, I like to mimic Billy Boyd's Scottish accent, but that's about it.

I am not really obsessive but ...
I wear my Elven Brooch on my coat and wear it almost everyday.
I have a FOTR movie poster on my wall (the final one from the cover of the theatrical DVD) and I sometimes say hi, or hello to Frodo smilies/rolleyes.gif
I am always talking about it, to my family and friends, and it always just ends up in my conversations (by mistake, of course smilies/wink.gif )
Me and my sister (who is kind of a fan, but more of an obsessive Orlando Bloom fan) quote lines from the movie, and sometimes practice our English accents smilies/cool.gif
She wants to go to England, and get an accent, and date an English guy.
Pipkin Sweetgrass
12-28-2002, 08:20 PM
My name is Pipkin and I'm a Ringoholic.
I've read the books once a year at least since 1969.
I have a thing for Boromir to the point where, when I met my husband-to-be, the first thing I thought was, "Hey, he could be a Boromir!" Large, strapping, MUSCULAR 17 year old who got transfered to my school. That was 32 years ago and I still adore him. He loves sweets, so I call him Beornomir.
I stand in front of automatic doors and say, "Mellon!".
Online I hang out in Frodo's kitchen with a bunch of other Middle Earthlings. We sometimes actually throw parties for the hobbits.
When my in-laws come, I say, "Crebain from Dunland!" and hide behind the couch.
If I come up on a traffic jam I shout, "You shall not pass!".
My two year old granddaughter can actually do a passable Gollum saying "my precious".
If there's a traffic detour I say, "What new devilry is this?".
While decorating my mother-in-laws house, after a long, tiring half-day, I said to Beornomir, "Not with ten thousand men could you do this thing.".
I have more rings than I can ever, ever wear....and I want MORE!
So no, I'm not obsessed, it's just a passin' fancy.

everytime I see a LotR commercial on TV, i spazz and start waving my hands, getting all excited. I ALWAYS find a way to integrate LotR into my conversations. (because of Pippin) i want to move to Scotland and get a Scottish accent. I count down the days to the movies opening starting in October, around my b-day. Whenever something happens, I quote LotR characters. I've seen FotR 13 times, and I talk all through the movie, reciting the lines in the characters' accents. i think thats enuff.

They eventually won and got the ring away from me, but everyone around us was watching us like 'you freaks.' the first really obsessive thing I did happened two days ago.
We had a special party yesterday, so two days ago I tried on my suit and I noticed that it didn't fit well anymore because I have grown a little bit in the middle, as you could say. So i said to myself that I wasn't going to eat anything that day before our party.
In the evening I nearly faded because I was so damn hungry, so my girlfriend gave me some bread with ham. Her cat approached, well-knowing that I had something to eat. My girlfriend said "No Lilly, Thomas has something for you."
The cat looked at me.
I looked at my bread.
The cat looked at my bread.
I looked at the cat. And then I went something like "No! It's mine! MIIIINE! My preciousssss!" My girlfriend just mumbled something like: "Idiot!"
(It was in german so it sounded a little bit cooler : Mein Schaaaaatz)

T-shirt and my teacher picked it up an laughed at me but luckly didnt say anything. I just recently found a piece of fabulous memoraphilia. It is a decorative ring made by a realtive. It is old enough and well made enough to have some value as piece of semi-antique (1943). There is also a great and ideological story linked to it and it can be seen from the decorations on it. So I took to wearing the ring and showing off with it. Every now and then someone to whom I show it, reaches out and says: "let me see."
I suppose you can guess my reply to that: "NOOOO! It'sss our precssssioussss!"

Where could I start? Also sometimes when I'm riding I let go of the reins and pretend to shoot orcs, own a wooden sword named Anuril (long story) and have covered my walls with LotR posters. I used to have a LotR door hanger (one of those bits of cardboard with a hole it that you hang on a door handle to tell people if they can come in or not) that I made myself. It had 'You shall not pass!' on one side and Wormtongue's greeting to Gandalf when the four companions come to Edoras on the other.
I call my friend Hobbit because she's pretty short, and I call one of my other friends Mrs Greenleaf because she is a Legolas obsessive! If people admire stuff I have I also like to say, "It's mine...my own...my precious!!!...". Hmm.... obsessive things. I used to wear one of my rings on a chain round my neck, it's now on my finger, cause it was quite LOTRish. I often say random words/ sentences in Sindain when I'm alone, I'm planning to learn to drive asap and go to the London premier for ROTK, I have a "LOTR wall" covered in pictures, refer to the special extended dvd as my precious....(my friend finally got suspicious and I had to give it to her *wails*)I have managed to find ways to revolve my art/design projects around LOTR and characters, and I have "The One Ring" glass- xmas pressie. That's all I can think of....just now.
BTW, what are the rings from these bookmarks people keep talking about?? I've seen the ring on a stand thing, but never on a bookmark.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooo boy I get to make a list. Yay!
1.I bought the one ring and whenever my friends try to grab it to look at the engravings i snatch it back and start cursing them and saying:We hatesssssssssssssssssssssssss it........hatesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss it.......
2.I bought the Light and Sound Sting toy thingy and my friend bought the mordor balde one and i went to his house. So i put the ring down to go to the bathroom. I came back and he had picked it up so I started hacking at him with Sting. So he finally picked up his mordor blade and tried blocking. We fought fro about 1 hour till i finally go it from his hand and put it around my neck.
3.I spent like 40.00 bucks on Lord of the Rings life sized stand-ups and placed them all around my bedroom. I especially like the 4 Black Riders I put outside my door. They're in that post that they are when they fight the four hobbits when Frodo get's stabbed where they all have their swords above their faces.
