The Hobbit would hit first because he/she was heaviest, then the dwarf, then the elf will go floating gracefully to the bottom.

ok, it's a really tall bridge, and they all get in a fight on the way down cause they dont wanna die, and they're all tangled up fighting, and hit the bottom at the same time. smilies/wink.gif smilies/evil.gif

Actually weight would have nothing to do with it. I think it would be a race between the elf and the hobbit. The hobbit would go faster to get hte fish in the river below, but the elf would do a dive and reduce air resistance. The dwarf would hit last since his beard would get caught in the air and slow him down.

Lol, i like that Aldagrim!
THis is the trick of physics...its is asking which would hit first, the feather or the bowling ball...here is the equation...
Assuming that everyone is their ideal weight, I would say the elf would hit first while the hobbit would pull out the paracute and the dwarf would have not jump, he would in his little workshed doing what he does best.
In all fairness to physics, they would hit at once.

The elf would jump, but then be caught by a passing bird, the bird would then carry him to saftey.
The hobbit would jump but would be caught on a ledge and would never make it to the bottom.
But the dwarf would jump and land safley on his feet at the bottom of the cliff, therefore causing him to be the first to hit the bottom, but only becasue the others maver made it to the bottom.

okay.. i think the elf would faint because he thought his hair would be messed up and then the hobbit would faint due to mushroom withdrawral then the dwarf would faint just for the heck of it and they would all land in a heap on the floor and realise that there was no river, only one of them had upset Galadriel. smilies/biggrin.gif

Ok, I don't know who would hit first. but it seems to me that the elf would freaking land on his/her feet and run across that water safely to the other side. Not that I actually know en elf can do that, it just seems like something an elf would do. smilies/biggrin.gif

I know who would make to the bottom last.
A hobbit, coz he'd ask for directions! smilies/biggrin.gif

Ok, the hobbit would hit first, because he'd see the fish below and remember that he's hungry. The dwarf would hit second, because he wants the fish and wants to beat the hobbit, but since the hobbit is smaller, there'd be less air resistance, and so he'd get the fish instead of the dwarf. The elf would look at the two in disgust and walk to the side a bit and take the elevator, beating them both.

No, the orc would hit the bottom first, because all the rest would use the orc to land on. smilies/biggrin.gif

The elf would hit first, because he's longest, then the hobbit, because the dwarf would have pushed him(the hobbit) underneath himself(the dwarf), so he(the dwarf) could land on his(the hobbit) round belly.

let's assume that we have legolas, Gimli and Frodo jumping off(don't juge me I love Legolas) Gimli would hit the bottom firsth because he has the heaviest equipment.(a helmet couple of axes) Then legolas because he's lighter and taller then Frodo.
(for the blonds amongst us: Them Frodo will hit the bottom)

According to the laws of physics, in a vacuum they would all hit the bottom at the same time. So in Legolas' mind they would all hit at the bottom at the same time.

the Elf would be the only one to hit the ground. The dwarf would be prepared (of course) and have a parachute. The hobbit (also prepared for the worst) would take a saucepan and knock the dwarf out and steal the parachute. then a Balrog would jump up out of the deeps and snatch the Dwarf, leaving the hobbit to gracefully float to the ground.

Ok, assume they´re still all on the bridge.
Elf:Let´s all jump off the brigde!
Hobbit:Why?
Elf: Just for the heck of it.
Dwarf:I don´t believe you. No one trusts an elf.
Elf: Oooh, don´t be so prejudiced. You know, we say "Never trust a dwarf" and I´m trusting you!(At this point the elf flicks his beautiful blond hair back and roles his eyes in a playfull matter-have I mentioned this is Legolas?)
Dwarf: Well, you shoudn´t!!(Takes Legolas and throws him over bridge)
Legolas:AAAHHHH!!!!
Dwarf:So. Were was I.
Hobbit:I think I´ll just have...second breakfast. Bye!
Dwarf:OOH, that dratted elf still has my axe. (Jumps down too)
=>Elf lands first, can´t fly gracefully because of axe, Dwarf comes in second, both drown.
Hobbit goes have another breakfast.

Ignoring laws of physics: I say that the Dwarf will hit at the same time because the Elf would have hollow bones like a bird, so, by flapping his arms a bit, he would not go down as quickly (get the idea I'm making this up?) and the Hobbit would have Faerie background (like Old Took), so he would have more mystical abilities. The Dwarf, meanwhile, was a grouchy old Dwarf would would refuse to let go of his heavy gold and armor, so he would just plummet, even if he did have Faerie background.

Well, in a case that an Elf WOULD fall off a bridge with a Hobbit or Dwarf {seeing they should have pretty good balance}, I think the Elf would hit first, landing feet first, and not exactly falling on the ground until the Dwarf fell on him from above.
As the two on the ground are arguing at who pushed who first, the clever Hobbit is above on a huge tree root sticking out from the cliff laughing hysterically at the thought that he was the only one smart enough to realize there were 3 ways to not have hit the ground...
1. Grabbing the rope hanging from the bridge which fell from the Elf as he and the Dwarf were fighting on the bridge and mysteriuosly caught onto a nail sticking out from the bridge
2. Realize before you fell completely that you were losing your balance and breaking through the wooden sides of the bridge and grab onto something to pull yourself back up
3. As the Hobbit did, grab a hold of the huge tree root sticking out of the cliff and pull yourself back up
In a case where all of these would be true, there would be a way to where each one of them could be saved from the horrid disaster awaiting them at the bottom.
Whoa, I have got way too much time on my hands to be sitting around figuring up stuff like this. I'm gonna go eat dinner.

lol these are sooooooooo funny, but it is obvious what will happen
the elf dwarf and hobbit will jump off a bridge, the dwarf will hit the ground first because a) dwarves are heavier and b) i don't like dwarves, the hobbit will be second because he has lost some weight and is now lighter than the dwarf, and the elf...well the elf just won't jump.
but if he did, he would be sensible enough to have a parachute
ok in other words gimli dies, then frodo and legolas will live (YAY!)

the hobbit would probably be first, where the elf and the dwarf are arguing about who build the best bridges. Then the dwarf gets so angry that he throws the elf over the edge and sais: well, this is a dwarven bridge, I'll stay up here.

Hmmmmph... Everyone knows that eleves are kind of special... walking on powdery snow without leaving tracks and such... So the hobbit would hit the ground first. The Dwarf on the other hand is always a practical fellow so he'd skin the elf on the way down and make a hang glider or parachute out of him. Elf would land last, but by then it hardly matters to the elf... smilies/evil.gif

We elves are too smart to fall off bridges.
Dwarves on the other hand...

Ok, I think the dwarf would hit first, seeing as he would be the heaviest and his axe would make sure he fell faster. The hobbit would sing a happy song and then get rescued by some eagles (because hobbits ALWAYS gets rescued by eagles) and the elf would float easily on the ground with the help of the Valar, sigh at the sight of the dead dwarf and walk away, singing a long and beautiul tale about how the Valar once again helped one of he firstborn.
Come to think about it, I think Aulë would save the dwarf as well. So nobody dies. Yay! Happiness!

The Dwarf would hit first because he would want to prove that, despite his size, he can do anything someone bigger can do - perhaps even better than them.
The Hobbit and Elf would both watch him fall - the Elf will sing a song & the Hobbit will eat a sandwich...

Has anyone thought why they would do it?
Well, just an idea...
You tell an elf: Orks have cut down your wood and killed your sweetheart
The elf: Woe is me! (and down he goes from the bridge)
You tell a hobbit: Orks have broken into your hole and gobbled all the food you had stored
The hobbit: Alas! I won't last a minute more without a snack! (down from the bridge)
You tell a dwarf: Elves have made a law forbidding to jump from this bridge
The dwarf: Who cares?! (down)

You tell a Dwarf: Hey! Lots of gold and silvery goodness! Down there!
Dwarf: Oooo! Just you wait Mr. Elf, soon you'll be experiencing...(etc., etc.)
And down he goes...
You tell an Elf: Ooo! Is that a lost Silmaril?
Elf: Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!
And down he goes.
You tell a Hobbit: 1stly, that his food has been stolen, but 2ndly, that they have to journey into Rhun to get it.
Hobbit: No food? Travel abroad? ADVENTURE?! Nooooooooooooooooo!
And down he goes.

Legolas would see the fangirls waiting at the bottom for him and Frodo, and would use his elven powers of levitation to save them. Gimli, having no levitational powers, and being considered unimportant by Legolas, would hit the bottom first. (Anyway, Gimli would be too heavy, and he doesn't have that many fangirls either.) The fangirls would toss him as far as they could. Gimli would hit the ground twice. Frodo's weight would be too much for Legolas to levitate, so he would drop Frodo to save himself. Frodo would hit the ground second (or third if you count both times Gimli hit) and be attacked by the rabid fangirls. Legolas would levitate himself back to the bridge.

Teenage girls would attack the elf and weigh him down (even though weight doesn't define how fast you fall). The dwarf's armor would weigh him down so he would remove in mid-air. Unfortunately, after doing that, rabid teenage dwarf girls (who are heavier than human girls) would attack him and weigh him down even more. The hobbit would quickly smoke so much pipe-weed that he could safely remove a majority of his organs, making him lighter. The dwarf would hit the ground first, using the dwarf girls as cushions, then the elf, who by now had slashed his way out of the fangirl horde and used his stunning hair as a parachute, would land second. The hobbit, barely weihing anything, would land last but immediately die.

Well, if you asked them, the Elf and the Dwarf would start fighting about it. Scenario One: They argue until one of them would end up pushing the other off the bridge - the Dwarf would probably get pushed off because Elves have a lot more balance - in which case the Dwarf would hit the bottom first. Scenario Two: They have a contest to see who hits first. The Elf, being more graceful, can then dive and will hit the bottom first (Let's assume there is a lake at the bottom). In either scenario, the Hobbit has way too much plain Hobbit sense to jump off a bridge in the first place and leaves the Elf and the Dwarf to argue about it while he goes and gets something to eat.

Bill Ferny, that was a good one! smilies/biggrin.gif
Here goes: the elf wouldn't jump (" Jump? Are you crazy? Why would I want to mess up my beatiful hair?!"), and the dwarf would grab the hobbit and use him to break his fall. In short, the hobbit would hit first.
