Let's see...

~Legolas gets to sing "I Feel Pretty"
~Eowyn gets to sing "I Am Woman"
~The Hobbits all rejoice with "It's A Small World" and break into "Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah" as they make their way into The Old Forest.

Actually... www.tolkientrail.com (http://www.tolkientrail.com) has a LOTR musical... check it out!

I think one of the characters...hmmm...maybe Pippin or Sam (??) should sing Mr. Cellophane from Chicago. And of course they should all sing Into The Woods when they enter Lothlorien...

Taure Leafsilver

Arwen: Love Me Love Me (Dont know name of Artist) --Dureing that mushy bridg scene

And although it has nothing to do with the topic, I've allways pictured the fellowship sitting around a blazeing fire on a cloudy day singing the first part to "Kiss From A Rose" By Seal...Of corse, I'm nuts...

Sauron singing the theme from Phantom of the Opera to Frodo and Sam in Mordor...think about it...
"My power over you
Grows stronger yet
And though you turn from me
To glass behind
The phantom of the opera is there
Inside your mind..."

Galadriel and Celeborn should sing a rousing chorus of "Be our guest, be our guest, put our magic to the test" in Lórien.

The Fellowship should sing "I feel the Earth move under my feet" when Moria is falling down around them.

Sam should definitely sing Carole King's "You've got a friend" to Frodo.

Pippin should sing these lyrics, "Why's everybody always picking on me?" It's from a song from the fifties, I can't remember the title or artist, but it fits.

Gollum should sing "One is the Loneliest Number" by Three Dog Night.

Legolas and the Mirkwood Elves should sing, "Who Let the Dogs Out?" only, "Who Let the Gollum Escape?"

And at the field of Cormallen, let's have everyone sing "We are the Champions" or "Na na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye".

Oh, oh, I've got it...Arwen should sing, "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" to Aragorn.

Elven Mistress
10-02-2002, 03:12 PM
Lol, i know - i did it off the top of my head smilies/frown.gif

The two groups should meet (aragorn, legolas, and gimlias one group and the orcs as another) and start fighting back and forth, singing America from West Side Story, only with the words mordor for the orcs and, i don't know...the shire (???) for the other three

Dont Play With Me Cause You Play With Fire (dont know artist) Hmm.. I think that's the Rolling Stones...?

Yes, gotta love Joseph! "It was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and faun..." I know the rest, but I'm too lazy to go on.

Ok, I saw it on Mouth of Sauron, but it's great!

"The Orcs are gonna have their day tonight"
"The West is gonna have its way tonight."

And since I'm also a Mizzie, there is this line in Les Miserables that would fit in excellently if Gandalf said it. Guess where?
"This is a warning to us all, these are the shadow of the past."

In fact, if LotR were a musical, Colm Wilkinson would make a good Gandalf.
Again, merging Les Mis and LotR, Arwen could sing "I Saw Him Once" or "In My Life", Eowyn could sing "On My Own", Gandalf could sing "Bring Him Home" to Gwaihir when telling him to go rescue Frodo and Sam.
I can't think of anything more, and I'm not sure if these are funny, since not everyone here may know Les Miserables. So perhaps I'd better stop typing.

Narlothgulwendil
10-02-2002, 06:09 PM
Oh, and Rebecca Caine might make a good Arwen. I think Lea Salonga would be a good Eowyn, but I won't recommend, her, as she is blonde.

As thier sailing away from Lothorin(I know I didnt spell that right) Aragorn and Legolas should stand up in thier boats and start belting out as loud as possible "Orinoco Flow" by Enya with Gimoli as the background vocals.

Diamond18

Ahhh, I just had an inspiration (so I'll be amused by it even if no one else is):

Gollum should sing Les Poissons from "The Little Mermaid." Not familiar with it? Never fear:

Les poissons, les poissons
How I love les poissons
Love to chop and to serve little fish
First I cut of zeir heads
Zen I pull out zeir bones
Ah mais oui ca c'est toujours delish

Les poissons, les poissons
Hee hee hee, haw haw haw
With ze cleaver I hack zem in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes, don't you?

Here's something for tempting ze palate
Prepared in ze classic technique
First you pound ze fish flat with a mallet
Zen you slash through the skin
Give the ze belly a slice
Zen you rub some salt in
'Cos zat makes it taste nice!

Thanks to google for that. You didn't think I had it memorized, did you? smilies/rolleyes.gif

At the end of the 1st movie, the whole cast could come out from behind the hill singing 'Tommorow' and holding hands. Then, Pippin (who has had his hair permed), can step forward and sing the last bit going high at the end.
Wait scrap that, they could all sing 'Yesterday', Aragorn having a major solo.
Why do I even post?

Here's a few

The Army of Rohan at Helm's Deep: We Will Rock You (Queen)

Orcs at Helm's Deep: Keep Rollin (Limp Bizkit)

Legolas: Hey Bady (No Doubt) In the lyrics, change boy to girl, and girl to boy.

Bilbo to Gandalf before the party: Puff the Magic Dragon (Unknown)

Nazgol at Weathertop: Men In Black (Will Smith)
"The bad guys dress in black, remember that,
just in case, we face, and make contact."

Saruman to Gandalf: In The End (Linkin Park)
"I tried so hard and got so far,
but in the end, it doesn't even matter."

Aragorn to Eowyn: Jaded (Aerosmith)

VanimaEdhel
10-23-2002, 05:44 PM
Gandalf on Thorondor: "I Believe I Can Fly" (R. Kelly, right?)

Eowyn (about Aragorn): "Life Goes On" (new Leann Rimes. A small sample:
...Baby shame on you, if you fool me once
Shame on me if you fool me twice
You've been a pretty hard case to crack
Should've known better but I didn't
And I can't go back

Oh life goes on
And it's only gonna make me strong
It's a fact, once you get on board
Say good-bye cause you can't go back
Oh it's a fight, and I really wanna get it right
Where I'm at, is my life before me
And this feelin' that I can go back
Life goes on...)

Boromir: "Family Album" (Pink)

I have more, but I don't have time to type them...

Hahahahahahahah! These are great! I know all the musical songs . . . Pippin and Merry should sing "stay we must not lose our senses Orcs who stick at no offenese . . " etc. right before the Orcs sweep them away at the end of FotR. It's from Pirates of Penzance!

VanimaEdhel
11-14-2002, 06:16 PM
Eowyn: "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child to Aragorn, trying to tempt him.

Galadriel: "Bibbity-Bobbity Boo" from Cinderella when explaining the concept of so-called 'magic' to the Hobbits.

Aragorn: "Just a Spoonful of Sugar" from Mary Poppins when he is healing Faramir.

Aragorn: "If It Makes You Happy" by Sheryl Crow dedicated to Arwen.

Arwen: "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion when Aragorn dies (then she lays down and 'dies' of course, but shhhhhh: they don't need to know that)

Eowyn: "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain when she reveals that she is actually Dernhelm.

At any time, how about change "The Road Goes Ever On and On" to "Everyday is a Winding Road" by Sheryl Crow. smilies/wink.gif

Legolas: "Because I Got High" when he is explaining why smoking is bad.

Aragorn: "Mambo #5" by Lou Vega when Eowyn lusts after him.

Beren: "The Story of a Girl" by Three-Doors Down about Luthien (I know, not LotR, persay, but...)

Gollum: "In The End" by Linkin Park as he's plummeting with the ring.

Gandalf: "Backstreet's Back" by the Backstreet Boys when he rejoins Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn (and he breaks into a boy-band dance while he does it as well).

Well, that is all for now...I'll be back! Okay: doesn't work as well when you are a girl...

I don't know where, and I don't know how, but somewhere in this crazy, mixed-up musical, we've gotta sing Bohemian Rhapsody.

VanimaEdhel
11-14-2002, 06:33 PM
Hmmm...*thinks*

Okay:
Merry and Pippin when captured by the Orcs: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Demonstrates how it works:
Merry: I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
Other Orcs Chime in Harmony: He's just a poor boy from a poor family | Spare him his life from this monstrosity.
Pippin: Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Head Uruk-Hai: Bismillah! No - we will not let you go
Orcs: Let him go
Head Uruk-HaiBismillah! We will not let you go.

And the madness continues...

Elven Mistress
11-14-2002, 06:57 PM
Ummm...when Merry, Pippin, and Sam meet again after Frodo and the rest leave they can sing Old Friends from Company (Company? I think that's what it's from...) Sam can be Mary and Pippin and Merry can be Frank and Charlie!!

Legolas and Gimli can sing Our Time...I can't remember what it's from, a play by Stephen Sondheim....But think about it..."Feel the flow, hear what's happening, we're what's happening. We're the movers and we're the shapers...."

When Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo and the lot are leaving to go across the sea, They can sing No One Is Alone to Sam, Merry, and Pippin!

When Pippin pushes the skeleton down the well in Moria, They can sing an original version of Your Fault from Into The Woods!

I agree with the REM idea, and I think "Innocent" by Fuel for Sam and Frodo in Mordor, (All those colours long since faded/And all our smiles all confiscated/Never were we told/We'd be bought and sold/When we were innocent) as well as "Wonderwall" by Oasis (All the roads that lead you there are winding/And all the lights that light the way are blinding). For Eowyn, "Just A Girl" by No Doubt. For Aragorn, "Superman" by Five For Fighting. That's all I can think of for now...

LoL, Beren, I love the "Time of Your Life" idea!

Okay, how about

-"Down" by Fuel for Gollum? Really Sméagol to Gollum..."I know you want me to love you/All you ever do is bring me down/Won't you go away forever..." Of course, that last line clinched it for me.

-"Last Time" also by Fuel for Frodo. I can't really point out any particular lyrics, the whole song really fits him as he relates to the Ring..."I'm not the first you sucked down," etc. He keeps promising himself that "this is the last time," as in the last time he uses the Ring.

-If you change the pronouns around a little bit, the chorus of "Bad Day" by Fuel (I got "Something Like Human" for Christmas, so sue me) rather fits Sam and Frodo, as narrated by Sam.

-In addition to "Hey, Ho, to the Bottle I Go" can you imagine "Closing Time" by Semisonic at the Green Dragon?

The Ring; One is the lonliest number. (I don't know who that's by)

Sauron and the Ring; Ain't no Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye and... Someone)

The Nazgul on Weathertop; Thriller (complete with dance routine) (Michael Jackson)

Sam and Frodo at the base of Mt. Doom; I Got You Babe (Sonny and Cher)

Gollum; a slightly modified version of "Under the Bridge" (Sometimes I feel like I don't have a precious, sometimes I feel like my only friend is the Hobbit named Frodo, Frodo he loves me. Lonely as I am, together we cry) (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Frodo and Sam (again); What would Strider the Ranger do (from what would bryan boytano do) (Trey Parker and Matt Stone)

Sam when Frodo's in Minas Morgul; A touching rendition of "On My Own"

Merry; "Dude looks like a lady" about Dernhelm

The Nazgul; Back in Black (AC/DC)

The Council of Elrond; Do you Hear the People Sing? (It'll be a rousing number right before intermission)

Aragorn; "Walk this Way" About Arwen. (Hey. I had to slip the Aerosmith reference in there somewhere. And the song's about older women too. smilies/eek.gif )

I really like the Nazgul and Back in Black. I could see it playing in a scene right as they cross the river Isen.

I don't know if these have been said but:

How do you solve a problem like the One Ring? (Maria, from the Sound of Music)

I also see Saruman standing on top of Orthanc singing "the Hills are Alive (with the sounds of music)"

Or the hobbits singing, snubbing Bilbo for going on an adventure to the tune of "Oliver" from Oliver

How about Arwen or Eowyn singing "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables about Aragorn?

Oh, oh, I've got it...Arwen should sing, "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" to Aragorn.

Diamond18, that is inspired. And "Why's everybody always picking on me" was Charlie Brown by the Coasters - perhaps re-named Pippin Took:

"Pippin Took, Pippin Took
Fool of a Took, Pippin Took

He's gonna get caught
Just you wait and see

Why's Gandalf always picking on me"

I feel a '60s theme coming on ...

Frodo to Sam: Stand by me (Ben E King, John Lennon and many others)

Sam to Frodo: You'll never walk alone (Gerry and the Pacemakers)

Sauron: Paint it Black (The 'Stones) - "I see a White Tower and I want to paint it Black" or Black is Black (Los Bravos) - "Black is Black, I want my One Ring back"

Tom Bombadil - Anything hippy, perhaps San Francisco (Scott McKenzie) - "If you're going to Old Man Willow, Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair"

Orc (having just made Aragorn's acquaintance at Helm's Deep) - Bits and pieces (Dave Clark Five) - "Bits and pieces, I'm in bits and pieces"

She-Warg (about Warg who's just gone over the cliff with Aragorn) - Leader of the pack (Shangri-Las) - "Hey, is that Jimmy's nose ring you're wearing"

Gandalf (the White) - Whiter shade of pale (Procol Harum) or I'm Alive (The Hollies)

The Balrog - Fire (Crazy World of Arthur Brown) - "You're gonna burn"

Legolas (the film one) - Surfin' USA - "All the Elves are shield surfin', surfin' Middle Earth"

Balin - Khazad Dum (New York) Mining Disaster (the Bee Gees)

Frodo (at Ammon Hen) - I can see for miles (The Who)

Oh, and one from the 70s ...

Bard the Bowman (having just killed Smaug): Smoke on the water (Deep Purple)

Somebody wrote one of these once for a site called fanfiction.net I think...

I'd have:
*Aragorn and Arwen - Summer Nights (Grease)
*Legolas - Big Spender (Sweet Charity)
*Gandalf - I Think I'd Better Think It Out Again (Oliver!)
*Éowyn - I Don't Know How To Love Him (Jesus Christ Superstar)
*Gimli - With A Little Bit Of Luck (My Fair Lady)
*Arwen, Galadriel and Éowyn/Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli - Three Little Maids (The Mikado)
*Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam - America (West Side Story) - "One Ring to destroy in Middle-earth!"

Legolas: "Macho Man" by the Village People

Wormtongue: "She Hates Me" by Puddle of Mudd about Eowyn

Eowyn: "I'm Not A Girl (Not Yet A Woman)" by the She-Devil...erm...I mean Britney Spears...honestly, though: it is a good Eowyn song

Another Eowyn: "It's Raining Men" by the Weather Sisters when Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf, and Legolas come riding up

Arwen: "I'll Be There For You" (the "F*R*I*E*N*D*S" Theme Song) to Aragorn

Saruman: "Hallie's Song" by Eminem about his Uruk-Hai

Another Arwen: "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi

Another Eowyn: "All the Things You Said" by TATU

Gollum/Smeagol: "I Am Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera (who is apparently calling herself "Xtina" now... smilies/rolleyes.gif )

i think Sam and Rosie should sing "All I Ask of You" from phantom of the opera during the shourering of the shire

lets see maybe some one sing "Up, UP, UP, to the hevy side lair" when sam carries frodo to Mt. doom?

Saruman: In my coat of many colors (from Joseph and the technicolored dream coat)

Arwen: Love Me Love Me (Dont know name of Artist) --Dureing that mushy bridg scene

Sauron singing the theme from Phantom of the Opera to Frodo and Sam in Mordor...think about it...
"My power over you
Grows stronger yet
And though you turn from me
To glass behind
The phantom of the opera is there
Inside your mind..."

Oh, and Rebecca Caine might make a good Arwen. I think Lea Salonga would be a good Eowyn, but I won't recommend, her, as she is blonde.

Thanx to MANY people for those quotes...Well, there are those people who keep taking the JOSEPH idea before I can post it, but oh well! and Thanx to Rhynoah the overly-happy for the gollum phatom of the opera post on the 'LOTR meets ALW' thread! it was realllly funny!

Anyways, For some reason I composed music for the TB poems, but I can't write it out in a legible format (if any format at all...) and I can really imagine Frodo skipping along the trails to Mordor while grinning idiotically...yes I know I'm strange

Pippin should sing these lyrics, "Why's everybody always picking on me?" It's from a song from the fifties, I can't remember the title or artist, but it fits.
I believe the song is called "Charlie Brown" by someone named Leon...but I could be wrong.

When Eowyn wakes from the Black Breath: "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" by Elton John.

Sam at the feast at the fields of Cormallen: "It's All Too Much" by the Beatles.

The Eagles sing "Switch into Glide" by the Kings.

Sam sings "Empty Garden" in the Scouring of the Shire.

Gandalf, rejecting the terms of the Mouth of Sauron, would sing "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young.

The Fellowship fleeing from orcs would sing "Band on the Run". I can't help but think of Pippin when I hear this:

If I Ever Get Out Of Here,
Thought Of Giving It All Away
To A Registered Charity.
All I Need Is A Pint A Day
If I Ever Get Out Of Here.

Then Frodo and Sam hiding in Mordor:

Well, The Night Was Falling As The Desert World
Began To Settle Down.
In The Town They're Searching For Us Every Where
But We Never Will Be Found.

How many of you recognized all of these songs, I wonders, yes we wonders?

Aragorn, to the other men and elves at Helms deep...
I simply cannot do it alone...(chicago musical)
But you may want to change the lyrics to adopt something like,
My father and I would have had an act not to be stopped.
My father and I would have gone straight to the top.
My father was a dunadain, 63, at least. (oh yeah)
But my father is now unfortunatly deceased.

I know its sad of course but a fact is a fact... And now all that remains, is the remains of a scraggly ranger rat!

(Spoken)
You know what guys? You can fight exactly the same as my father.. You would fill his place perfectly! NOw why dont I show ya some of the action huh?

Watch this-
Now you have to imagine it with 2 orcs, its swell with 2 orcs!

.... Blah blah blah.. if youve seen the musical you can just about predict how it will finnish.

Remember that crappy Spice Girls song, Viva Forever? Well, call me crazy, but I actually re wrote the lyrics to suit the LOTR musical. This is supposed to be Gollum talking to himself (Smeagol).

***

VIVA MY PRECIOUS

GOLLUM: Do you sstill remember, how we used to be?
Ssplashing around, to the goblinss' cave bound,
Just my Preciouss, you and me.
Both of uss were dreamerss, living without ssun,
But Bagginsess came, made a riddle sso lame,
And he went home with the One.

Hassta my Preciouss, always be mine.
Viva my Preciouss, I'll be ssneaking
Under nasssty, yellow ssun.
Live for Preciousss, for the moment,
Ever ssearching for the One.

SMEAGOL: Yess, I still remember, every whispered hiss,
The touch of its gold, and the torture untold,
Of the Dark Lord's secret kiss.
Sslipping through our fingers, to Frodo and Sam,
Masster is good, *** he offered uss food,
But the Ssam's a stupid ram.

Hassta Manana, inmate of mine.
Viva the hobbits, you'll be going,
Under nasssty, yellow ssun.
Live for Preciousss? Not forever,
For I found my sspecial One.

GOLLUM: But you are alone now, wass he jusssst a fraud?
Truly *** I told you, the promisse iss ssold
And he'ss just a filthy Frod'.

BOTH: Hassta Manana, Frodo and Ssam.
Viva my Preciouss, we will get it,
We don't care about the ssun.
Live for Preciouss, coss they sstole it,
And we'll claimsess back the one.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS”, the first major stage musical adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s classic trilogy, will receive its World Premiere when it opens in London in Spring 2005. This coincides with the 50th anniversary of the publication of the complete trilogy, “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King
