In exactly one month from now, the U.S. will be having Election Day, so I figured what better way to celebrate than to have our own elections? Okay: I have some small guidelines here...if you don't mind.
Can you please pm me your votes? You can make campaign ads/speeches in this topic, but do the voting in private (secret balloting and all: and I'll count the votes honestly, I promise).
The categories are:
President (Prime-Minister, if you prefer)
Vice-President
Governor of (whatever land you desire)
Mayor of (whatever land you desire)
Treasurer
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of State
Supreme Court Judge(s)
Senators
Other (Title then name)
I just did the major ones...and I will not be voting in this, as I am the one tallying the votes...
And remember: pm the votes, please! I will announce the winners the week of Election Day!
Anything I've forgotten?

*Feels really stupid for not explaining*
okay: I meant that we vote for Tolkien characters.
I was originally, about a week ago, when I planned this, going to have you guys run, but I decided too many people would get upset if they didn't win.
So: I'm looking for "Legolas for Governor of Mirkwood" or "Tom Bombadil for President", you guys...sorry for the misunderstanding!

Two people have pm'ed me and voted so far! And: Rose: great, great, great sign! Very cool...I say a bunch of you decide on who you want and make different signs...lol: but: whatever.
As I said: two people have pm'ed me so far, so it's not much of a competition yet!

Matter of legality concerning the elections...
Earlier I presented myself as a candidate and Vanima Edhel said thet he meant voting for LOTR charachters. I was aware of this idea. It however is illegal. smilies/biggrin.gif If we are members in the constituency in question, then we are also eglible to be candidates. If we are not members in the constituency in question, then we are not eglible to vote. smilies/biggrin.gif
There is something definately wrong whith my sense of humor. If not otherwise, then by the how of my using my knowlwedge of politics. smilies/rolleyes.gif I’d like to renew and affirm my candidacy. smilies/biggrin.gif
I will run for the seat of the warlord of Durthang in Gorgoroth. My slogan is: ”you do not want to set a competing candidate... trust me.” (And that means especially you, Grishnakh and Shagrat.)
smilies/evil.gif
Anyone want to run against Gandalf? Maybe not.
I also nominate Sauron for the absolute ruler of Mordor and Morgul, Warlord of orkish tribes, Duke of Angmar, Protector of Southern Mirkwood, Lord of Dol Guldur and a nice guy. Anyone dare run against him? Not me by no means. I am a loyal slave of his. smilies/evil.gif

No-no-no-nooooo.
Here in Mordor and especially in Gorgoroth we do things a little differently. Our tradition is that we always set only one candidate. Then no one votes. The candidate gets 100% out of 0 votes and is elected with even purer majority and democratic mandate then that of Josef Stalin (98,6%) or Kim Il Sung (99,8%).
Orcs of Moria being purists and traditionalists run their elections differently. They nominate multiple candidates. Then the candidates have it out with scimitars till only one lives and then everyone votes for him. Voting is mandatory. This system has problems however. Orcs not being very smart, the dead candidates end up getting votes, so the democratic mandate of the winner becomes tarnished 98% or so. We Mordor orcs are much more civilised. We take care of any exess candidates behind the scenes.

PS. Sorry for the wrong pronoun. I'll try to remember you are a she. For some reason I think I knew that already, but being a Finn in the real world, I mess up with those all the time. My native language has only one shared pronoun for he/she. Sorry.

Hmmm...wouldn't that make life so much easier: 1 pronoun? No problem...I'm not used to people calling me "he", though...I'm veeery girlie-looking in real life.
Well, here, in Valinor, we actually vote, so: no vote, no chance...someone like *gasp* Aragorn might win, bombur!

Being around once more... I'll just add, please do not get upset if I mess with the pronouns again. It's just difficult to remember. I mean, I will remember, you are a girl, but propably I will use he again at some point. If our language study books had it han=she/he instead of han=he/she, I'd propably be calling everyone she. I really has got nothing to do with you and I am not trying to be mean.

*Gives bombur a big hug* Do not worry about it! I reiterate: it is okay!
