Has anybody spotted any film flubs in FotR or TTT? I have. In FotR when Merry says "How do we know this Strider is a friend of Gandalf's?" his cloak is wrapped around him, but at the next shot it isnt. Hee hee! Post your flubs!

Never new that! There's loads on this site:
Movie Mistakes (http://www.movie-mistakes.com)
I didn't notice many on this film! Or the last! I get too into the story. I did notice that near the end of TTT just before Froso tried to give the ring to a ringwraith, the picture went greenish for a while!

When they go into Theoden's hall, Legolas is "supporting" Gandalf in some shot, but not in others. A more obvious one is the cut on Pippin's head, which moves from right to left.

the cut's on Merry's head, isnt it?

I just finished reading the page that was linked, and they made mistakes themselves. If they think that they can spot all the mistakes, why didn't they research the book a bit more? They said something about the orcs and Uruk-Hai going to Isengard and that the Uruk Hai were able to travel longer distance in shorter time, and how come they had orcs go too. Well, didn't the orcs from Mordor meet up with them or something? They said some other things that didn't make sense too.

How about when the horse is about to come crashing down on pippin? his hands are supposed to be tied, but you can clearly see that they are not.

I noticed that, and then a few minutes later he's cutting the ropes round his wrists with something! Mad!

hey nobodys posting. POST!! POST!! but ive another flub.
in FotR, when the hobbits are just running to Buckleberry Ferry, when it shows the Ringwraith galloping by itself, you can see a darker circle where a face should be. I dont know if its just my tv or if its real, but it was cool. Check it out and report back.

Has anyone noticed, in FotR, when the Hobbits are hiding under the tree root, the black rider mysteriously appears out of the tree?

When Gandalf comes in to Bag end he says to Bilbo "You've not aged a day!" but if you look back at the part where he was picking up the ring, he clearly has 'aged a day', his hair's gone white!

Yeah I noticed that. They fixed it in the extended version, but before that, its like the blackrider was hidding in the tree or something.

Is this just me?
At helms deep, when the uruk-hais and lifting the ladders, Aragorn yells "Ladders".
He must be yelling in elvish, but in that case how come Gimli understands?

An'o'course theres the ever-popular "car in the backround with Frodo and Sam saying "Farhest away . . . blah blah"
They edited it out of the DVD. In fact, they just cut the entire backround of hills out, and now there's alot more sky!
Gandalf's sword in Moria should glow!! It's elvish like Sting, ain't it?!?!!?!?!!!!!
My favourite movie flub would have to be in FotR. In the scene where Boromir is dieing, and Aragorn comes running down the slope towards him, watch the 'dead' Urak-Hai closely.
One of the dead bodies lifts his head quite noticeably to watch as Aragorn runs by. They never editted it out - it's in both the standard, and the extended DVD.

I noticed that Uruk, too. He probably was just not dead yet. Or maybe the stuntman is bad...
In FotR (I'm not sure if it is only in the extended edition, but that is where I noticed it) at Bilbo's Party: Merry and Pippin are both in the band in the background. In one scene where you don't see the band very well because it is a close up on Frodo & Sam (I think) Merry is playing a banjo-ish thing and Pip is playing a flute-ish thing. In another scene where you can see them more clearly, the instruments are switched.

That Uruk who lifts his head is so noticable!!
I saw that like the second time I saw FOTR in the movie theaters, and me and my sister almost laughed, we could not believe that they had not edited that out.

I'm not sure about this, but I think there's something funny about boromirs horn. When he fights with all the Uruk-hai, I think he has taken an arrow or two, his horn is suddenly split. First you see it, and it's unsplit, then there's some slow-motion fighting when you don't see it, and then it is split. Have anybody else seen it?

what i would like to know is how did the band still have all the instruments playing in it when merry and pip appear out of that tent. as they never stop playing oh yeh and another thing when frodo says get off the road look closely at the tree roots when the ringwraith sniffs over the top of them their a different colour to the ones they jump under also when pip/merry (cant quite remember) throws that bag how did the ringwraith disappear in a second or so without his armour clatering.

Okay, I am feeling REALLY unobserant. But please ANYBODY!!! Answere my question. Shouldn't Gandalf's sword be glowing in Moria? Or not?

yeah i think it should. but maybe Sting just has a special sort of magic over it that makes it glow...i dont know

Well, I know Gandalf had Biter or Beater (I am so pathetic I can only remember the orc names! Bad Mintyztiwn!)in The Hobbit, I just don't know if he still had it in FotR and especially in Moria.

You guys must have noticed that the ring seems to move around all the time? I mean yes it is a magic ring but can it really get off a chain and then back on all by itself? I don't think so. Like did you ever notice that in one shot it is around Frodo's neck and then in the next it is in his hand or he takes it out of his pocket and then it is back on his neck, etc, etc. I also have to wonder how does Gandalf get his staff back? Or are they a dime a dozen for wizards? Maybe he has a backup staff? But Sauruman takes it from him and I am pretty sure that he had no intentions of giving it back!

I noticed about the staff...I kind of dismissed it at the time as he might have got it back behind the stage kind of thing - I wonder how he did get it back?
I noticed the ring as well - in the FOTR, when they're on Caradhras and the chain breaks - where do they get a new chain or fix the old one??
According to my friend there's supposed to be a scene in the FOTR when Frodo takes a tumble on Caradhras and loses the ring, etc. - one moment there are foot-prints in the snow, and the next the snow is totally smooth. Mind you, this is from a friend who saw it when 'What Now' (NZ TV show) did all the bloopers in FOTR... has anyone actually seen it? 'Cos I haven't and the tv's just died, so I can't check it out at the moment.
God bless,

hobbit punk, both those questions were what I planned on asking, but yesterday, for some reason or another, this thread wasn't working for me, and now a lot of others aren't working today (weird). So I asked on another thread does Gandalf just go and buy another staff? I mean, after he escaped Saruman he had another!!
And whenever Frodo puts on the Ring, I seriously doubt he takes the time to undo the chain, take the Ring off of it, put the chain in his pocket...etc., etc. And in the Carad....Caha...the big snowy mountains!! If his chain is that cheap as to break, don't you think that he would have dropped the Ring somewhere in the middle of Mordor while trekking along? That would be interesting.... smilies/evil.gif

Same here - I wondered whether it was just me and my computer or whether everyone else came up against it. It's a bit of a relief to know that it wasn't just me... smilies/smile.gif
I mean the non-working of the thread, although I agree entirely with the cheap chain thing.

No i didnt, but thanks for resurrecting my thread! But did anyone notice that when Boromir runs to the door in the Chamber of Mazarbul, behind him you can see Aragorn throw down his torch, but in the next scene, when he says "Stay back, and stay close to Gandalf" he is holding it again?
Galenfea of Mirkwood.
02-17-2003, 03:24 PM
He is? I never noticed. But I would like to know how he throws the torch down amidst all that dust and paper, yet nothing catches fire!
Also, when Gandalf is doing his "A Balrog..." line, a) Legolas is looking somewhere else entirely and b)doesn't it look like Gandalf's hair is on fire?

I'm still gonna post here.
I didn't bother reading all of them, so sorry if somebody has already said this.
During Boromir's death scene, the camera angle keeps changing from looking from the top down (at Boromir), to looking from the ground up (at Aragorn). When it is looking down, Boromir's hand is on Aragorn's shoulder, but when it is looking up, his hand is not there anymore. Is this right or am I seeing things?

You're not seeing things: this is really there. The reason being because they filmed the scene twice: once do do Boromir's angles and once more to do Aragorn's angles. Incidentally, they also broke for lunch between shoots (so Sean Bean had to go in, die, go eat, come back and die again. That'd make me feel strange...) so it's understandable that Bean would forget where he put his arm in the first shoot. smilies/wink.gif

One thing that always bugs me, Saruman clearly tells the Uruk Hai to bring him the haflings alive and unspoiled, yet when they're standing in the woods and Boromir comes to save them, there is an Uruk with a large ax ready to chop them. Correct me if this was in the books, but it seems out of place.

Yay! You brought my thread back to life! smilies/biggrin.gif
Yeah, now that I think about it, that DOES make no sense. Another thing; in the regular edition of FotR, in Lorien when the Company is met by the Elves, Haldir says "Come...she is waiting." But then in the extended edition, he says something like "You can go no further." I didn't expect them to delete scenes or stuff like that.
Galenfea of Mirkwood.

Maybe they just put that line in to cover up where they'd chopped the flet scene, but t wouldn't make sense with the flet scene in.
(that made no sense)

Hey there Elentari II! I haven't seen you on here for a long time.

ok correct me if im wrong this is kinda hard to explain.
ok the scene in FOTR where Gandalf is reading the account of isiluder and the finding of the ring the camra shows the tengwar inscription on the paper. is the Tengwar wrong or am i lacking in tolkeinology?? on the end of the verses where the tengwar looks like ELF the top curve is missing on the E looking character of i think the first verse?? Gandalf reads "as the markings on the band begin to fade" could that explain why its wrong??
