Amanduial the Archer invites you to play in Kidnapped!

Basic Storyline: A female elf from Lorien wanders from her home and is kidnapped
by a band of cruel wandering men. Our job will be to get her back.

Starting Location: Lothlorien

Likely destination: Probably back at the golden wood.

Timeframes:
This game falls within an early period in the third Age. The story itself or plot covers say a month at most methinks. It will
probably be more up to a couple of months, no longer.

Characters:
Main character types are ... elves I’m afraid.
Secondary character types likely are ... wild men
Character types which would not belong ... dwarves, hobbits, random people who
have no purpose except to flirt and be cute.

My Character:
Name: Nuhrive Fleetheart (said Nu- rie- vay)
Age: about teen years for an elf. Im not sure- whats 15 for elves?
Personality: Nuhrive is quite wild and stubborn. She dreams of adventure,
believing her home in the Golden Wood to be too sedate and wishes for more. Her
temper often gets the better of her, as she is quite defensive and willing to
hold her own; her parents are very rarely around as they are scouts for
Galadriel. She has her own secret world of wishes and dreams, making her quite
secretive, isolating her. Few are allowed into this world, but if you can enter,
she will stick by you no matter what. The only problem comes when she wishes to
carry out these dreams of adventure…
Appearance: Nuhrive is about 5”7 and quite slim. She has short blonde hair which
stops just above her chin, a small rebellion against the traditional long hair
of the elves. She wears the elegant silvery changing robes of Lothlorien,
although these are often dirtied from her escapades. She is not a child, yet she
isn’t grown yet, but she carries a long, elegantly carved dagger, a perfect,
beautiful green stone, the colour of her eyes, set in it. She isn’t technically
allowed to keep this as she is not old enough to carry weapons, so she tends to
keep it hidden although it is her greatest treasure. Another of her treasures is
a silver necklace, quite simple, but with a bloodstone hanging at the end. On
this there are moon runes, but she cannot read them.

Please don't respond on this thread until Amanaduial has posted in it. That said, I am also going to play. Here is my character:

Name: Sultir
Age: About the Elvish equivalent of thirteen or fourteen

Sultir was born to a border guard he sees only a few days a month and a head-of-household in the palace. With such parentage, he's allowed pretty much free rein in Lorien. He's curious about everything and no one is very surprised wherever he shows up. His whims are usually indulged and he's a little spoiled, used to getting his own way.

He and Nuhrive have known each other since they were babies and are best friends. They've never been apart for more than a day and Nuhrive's disappearance has thrown him into a panic. He's forbidden to go on the rescue mission, of course, but don't believe that would daunt him. He can be a very determined boy when it suits him.

Fantastic! I've been waiting to join an RPG for a while now. I'd like to reserve my place in line if that's all right; I'll post my character a little bit later.

Thank you Aman! Here's my character:

Name: Feadhros
Age: Elvish sixteen (around 40-something)
Race: Noldorin elf
Appearance: He has a tall, slender build; his hair is brown and has a somewhat auburn tint in the sunlight, and he wears five elflocks in it. His eyes are green and he wears a midnight blue tunic with an elven cloak over it.
Personality: He can sometimes be a bit wily and bend the rules, but he has a good heart. He has a talent for eavesdropping, which makes him very useful to the enemies of the Lady of the Wood, whom he serves and loves.
History: Born and raised in Lothlorien, Feadhros' parents were craftsmen who knew a little about the making of jewels like the Silmarils. However, he was not blessed with this skill, and instead grew into an adventurous soul, sneaking around outside the borders of the woods as a child. Finally, Galadriel's guards, who had only noticed his activities a single time, brought him before her. She asked him if he desired adventure, and when he answered yes, the lady gave him a chance to become one of her scouts. Through his missions he became friends with Nuhrive's parents, and thus knows much about her, though he has only met her a few times. When he heard of her kidnapping he volunteered to help search for her, since he feels the obligation toward both the girl and her parents and hates to see the family suffer.
Weapons/gear: A hundred yards of hithlain rope, a small hooked dagger in a leather sheath, and a longbow & quiver, both made for him by his father.

I know that Aman, as the Game Owner, will be contacting the gamers who post here, but a reminder to everyone else who reads this thread is also needed.

The requirements for gaming at Rohan are higher than those of The Shire. Every gamer at Rohan must be familiar with the Golden Rules, which are explained in the thread, The Golden Hall, and demonstrate those qualities of good writing in their posts.

Chat-style writing is not acceptable at Rohan (or, indeed, anywhere on the BarrowDowns discussion forum).

Posting a character description is like an audition; the Game Owner will choose who can play based on the description posted in the discussion thread. Gamers must wait to hear from the Game Owner that they have been accepted.

Character descriptions should not be limited simply to physical characteristics, but offer a psychological or behavioural explanation of the character. Characters must also be related meaningfully to the storyline of the game.

"All the fun's in how we say something." And the goal of that fun at Rohan is credible, decent writing.

Name: Lilebrian Longbow
Age: Fully Mature Wood Elf

Lilebrian (leel-EB-rian) comes from a long line of archers. My aim is deadly, and I do not waste arrows needlessly. I am a fierce and deadly foe, swift as a wildfire with little like for the men of Dale. My distrust stems from the encroachment of their people into our lands for the pure pleasure of hunting for sport.

I am tall for an Elf, over 6 feet, yet I move like a shadow in the dark. I look like most do in Galadriel's company. Fair, long golden hair, keen eyes, and my one distinguishing feature is the scar across my right cheek. I got it while defending my own sister from the predators outside our boundaries.

My bow is at your service!

At long last, I have decided to 'audition' for this RPG smilies/biggrin.gif That is, if you could use another elf smilies/wink.gif

Name: Jemel Carenorien
Age: Elvish 19
Appearance: Jemel is an average height for an elf, she is slender like most elves. She has curly pale blonde hair to her shoulders and deep ocean-blue eyes. Often wears men's clothes, such as breeches and tunics, due to her 'occupation'.
History: Jemel works for Galadriel as a scribe/reporter type person. She goes to the borders and sometimes travels with the scouts to report back to Galadriel of their findings. Jemel was asked by Galadriel to go on the mission to send tidings and news of the mission by ways of her pet messenger hawk, Aniram. She is also quite a musical elf, writer of songs and music. Her mother
taught her to write and her father taught her to play many instruments. He also taught her how to use the daggers. Her mother was a type of caretaker for children and her father a scout. Jemel also learned from him how to ride a horse.
Personality: Jemel is quite shy to strangers, but to people she knows she is very outgoing. She is not afraid to take charge. Sometimes her temper gets the better of her, but it takes a lot to get her that mad. Jemel sometimes takes the smallest things the be the most important, sometimes her thoughts are of paramount importance to her. She is usually cheerful, and if things
go sour she is quick to try and cheer her companions.
Weapons/gear: Carries with her always a pair of daggers, and never forgets her quill, ink, and parchment. She also brings a small flute to play.
Horse: Ualassae, a midnight-black mare.

My quill is at your service...

Aylwen

Edit: *ahh* Sorry for not thinking...I'll be on vacation from the 27th to the 31st of December. Will I still be able to participate if I get accepted? smilies/frown.gif

Hmm...I think I finally got it! It took me a couple of days, but my twisted imagination came up with this:

Name: Harlon Nowane

Race: Elf

Age: Very old in human years, but somewhere in his thirties in elf years.

Appearance: Strawberry Blonde hair, with silver eyes. Average Elvish height.

Personality: Harlon is funny, yet foolish. He loves attention, and will do pretty much anything to get it (as long it's not a bad deed).

Backround: My character was orphaned in the Last Aliance of Elves and Men. Harlon was in need of some form of money, so he started being a stand-up comic. Someone happened to recomend him to Celeborn and Galadriel. So now his proffesion is being The Kings Fool. He makes anyone of the Royal Court laugh, and he gets either a snack or a small meal. Not being to enertain much of anyone, for the sadness upon Lorien, he decided to join the search party

I'm always open to suggestions. If perchance you have a better idea for my character, or if my spelling/grammar isn't accurate, let me know. Only constructive cristicism is permitted. Since I don't think it's proper to post comments to only myself here, send me a PM.

Galadel Vinorel

What a wonderful idea for a RPG, Aman!! Just wonderful!!

Welll, you know me from the White Horse Inn as Galadel, but I am not sure if oyu wish for the daughter of Galadriel to go on this journey. If oyu wish for me play another character, just P.M. me or tell me so here. I will gladly change to another elf.

Merry Christmas!!

Here is my Profile-

Name- Galadel Vinorel (my name means- "Light of the Stars"- named this because my eyes seem to shine like stars, especially when lights are around me, "Morning Star"- named this because I was born on Midsummer's Day, when the Sun rose over the horizon, and also for other reasons which few know.)

Race- Noldor Elf

Lineage- Second Daughter of Lord Celeborn and Lady Galdriel of the Golden Wood

Hair Color- Golden

Eye Color- Crystal Blue

Height- 6"8

Other Names- Palintirel- "Far-Seeing Star"- named this because I have had visions since I was five years old, Phaore- "Heart of Gold"- named this when I was young because I was considered to be very sweet.

Other Features, Etc.- I am as wise and almost as beautiful and powerful as my mother, and I am as strong as my father. I fight with the sword and the bow, though I prefer the sword. I was born in the First Age, and I was five (by the age of the Elves) when Morgoth fell. I fought in the Battle of the Last Alliance as the Commander of the Lothlorien Army of Elves. I can speak most every language. I am the the sister-in-law of Lord Elrond, and the aunt of his children, who I taught how to use the bow and the sword. I ride very well.

Personality- Very calm with a firery temper. She is very effected by the changes in the world (especially the sad ones), and, so, she is often very sad. She is young at heart, though, and she looks and sometimes acts only to be about the age 22. She has a merry laugh that is often heard ringing throught Lothlorien. Though she does not liked to be served by Maidens and such very often, she is indeed very noble, though she does not usually act that way.

Usual Outfit- White dress with silver, red, and gold acccents, and a silver, white or gold cloak. Her hair is either in braids, or is down. She, if she wears them, wears silver or gold shoes.

Traveling Outfit- Green pants and shirt with silver accents, and a green cloak made by her mother that blends in with most every scenery. Her long hair is either in braids or half of her hair is pulled back, with the rest freely flowing. With this outfit she wears Elvish boots.

Sword Name- Ruinel (name means "Flame of the Stars".) The blade is clear, and it was a thread of red (which some say is lava from the fires of Mount Doom) running through the center of it. THe handle is silver with red and gold accents

Horse's Name- Celelith (name means "Silver Star") She is white, with a black tail and mane. On her forhead is a silver birthmark in the shape of a star. She is a gift from King Theoden to me, for she is the daughter of Shadowfax. She is very fast, and knows all the lands of Rohan and Lothlorien by heart.

Garen LiLorian
12-26-2002, 08:18 AM
I'd love to join, if you will have me. Introducing myself now at the Inn, but here's a profile.

Name; Garen, son of Galthun, Gareth's heir of the house of Lorien, called "Calamorie" (that's "Light in the darkness," I think, though my Elvish is pretty poor)

Race; Man, though descended through long years from Mariel, an Elf of Lorien.

Age; 23.

Phys. Desc.; Fair and young, a scion of a great house of Elf-friends. Grey eyed and fair haired, tall. Dressed in Elf fashion, though not in Elfish clothes (i.e; no camo cloak, etc)

Bio; Descended from Gareth (a Man of "twilight" as they'd say in Gondor) and the Elf maid Mariel, the house of Lorien was established in the dawn of the second age. Garen is the latest scion of this house, whose lands run from below the Dimrill Dale along the banks of Celebrant to Lothlorien. He walks with a slight limp, the reminder of a battle fought against the Wargs of the mountains. He is proud, a prince of Men, though his love has always been with the forests and fields rather than the halls and throne that are his birthright.

Why he's here; The report of a kidnapping in Lorien strikes close to home for Garen. The report that Men perpetrated this crime fills him with anger, for he fears that the wrath of the Elves will fall upon his own house. He hopes to forestall any such action by joining this rescue party, and, if indeed the kidnappers are of his house, he is their prince and would see justice done.

dragoneyes

I have pondered long enough! So here she is:

Name: Thoriel
Age: Elvish 19
Personality: Outgoing and friendly, she wants to make the whole world her friend and can't understand why some people just don't get along. She is an only child and both her parents are alive, but busy with other things. She strongly believes in second chances and is very free with whom she trusts, but she isn't naive, so she always has her wits about her and a dagger concealed in her boot.
Appearance: 5"9' with long dark blonde hair and grey eyes. usually wears a very simple dress and riding boots. Apart from the dagger in her boot, the only other weapon she carries is a bow (and arrows of course). She wears a beautifully carved bracelet, to reming her of her home and family, but it's usually covered by her clothing.
Reason she's coming: Her parents were too busy to go themselves, and her being their only child, they sent her.

She's good with both the dagger and bow and would very much like to put her abilities to use.

Ooh, lovely!

Aylwen Dreamsong, Jemel has good reasons for being here and is nicely fitting. Accepted.
Have a nice vacation. Where are you going? Susan, could you start the game tomorrow please? Or the day after if thats not possible? Aylwen, we can carry her for a while until you get back, if you wanna PM me your first post then Ill post it (We start where everyone, including Nuhrive, is still at Lorien, ok?)

Morai I love the idea of a Fool. Accepted. Will Harlon be joining the search party as a scouter or what? I mean, can he fight?

Galadel Vinorel, oh youre too kind! I know you play well, and in that case you are accepted anyway. I like your character as well, but she is the princess; would her parents really let her go? She may have to go in disguise methinks. Accepted, but needs an excuse.

Garen LiLorian . At last, a man! And a male player as well. And I saw your post on the White Horse in response, and it strengthened this. Accepted.

dragoneyes: she wants to make the whole world her friend . Hmmm, hopefully not the entire world ie. evil men. Ive seen you play before and you have a good style. Accepted.

Lilebria, Thankyou for that post on the Horse, great post. Strengthened and even more accepted. If possible. Ok, that doesnt really make sense, but what the hey.

So, lets see. Players...

Galadel Vinorel- but you need to get the princess on there secretly or something.

Thats it for the search party Im afraid. No more direct good guys in the search. However, although we are one Man up with the elves, there is still rather a lack of men and a complete lack of bad guys.

Please...we need bad guys. And there is a baddie leader still there with no-one to play him... smilies/frown.gif ...if no one else will, I will play the bad guy leader. If you do want to play him...please PM me first (dont worry, your place will be held, you cant become the top man unless you PM me first ok?) cos I have a few vital things to add. Dont worry, only like two, but mildly important. And I dont want him to be wasted. We also have all the other baddies so come on! Evil men (and women) I know you want to!

I'm considering joining this game with my character Maikadurion (for any interested, his story and that of his brother and cousin can be found in a combo of the White Horse, Cirith Ungol RPG and the Green Dragon). Here are his stats:

Name: Maikadurion (My-ka-du-ri-on)
Race: I just call him a Gondorian, but his mother Orowethwen was a Mirkwood Elf and his father Théomer had a mix of Gondorian and Rohirrim blood
Age: 15
Family: Younger identical twin brother Laitalathion and cousin Airerûthiel
Weapon: Longbow and long knife
Appearance: Red-gold hair and deep blue eyes, quite tall
Personality: Proud, loyal, honest, hot-tempered, courageous, impulsive
Backstory: Father killed by wargs when sons two years old; mother died of grief four years later; went to live in the house of their mother's sister (Airerûthiel's mother); ran away before the massacre of the White Horse; went to Mirkwood; came back east; brothers split up and went separate ways; currently working at the White Horse Inn

Carlas, I like the character but
a) Shes an elf- no more elves
b) If you wanna play and you havent before, the Shire might be a good place to start.
I would acceot but we're overloaded on both elves and good guys.

Wow! Such an underabundance of bad guys, if only the real world was like this. Everyone wants to rescue the elf-maiden, yet noone wants to kidnap her in the first place! Very well, meet:

Skara the Woodsman
Standing 5 foot 9, bearded (but not heavily), with brown hair and tanned complexion.
Skara is a self-confessed expert with the bow. Aged 29, he is a traveller by nature and a hunter and craftsman by profession, with no wife as of yet. In his home village, his time was mainly taken up by hunting to supplement his people's crude attempts at agriculture, but most enjoyed turning his hand to turning some wood. Fights with the bow or the knife, and usually with animals rather than men, but carries a short sword on this expedition. Very patriotic and loyal to his people and his village - cares little for the Elves or the Elf-friends (at the outset at least!). Adaptable and yes, occasionally ruthless, Skara is not above some foolhardy attempt to get rich quick.

Skara can be altered to suit the requirements of the RPG - I'd love to join in, and would like to know more about the motive for the kidnapping and where the 'bad' guys come from. Do they all come from the same village? Please post or send me a PM, if you still need some bad guys.

Any adjustments you need to make are OK by me (short of introducing, then killing my character, obviously smilies/tongue.gif )

Maybe it's to late, but as my father always say's:"You have no, you could get yes.

So may I join. For those who don't know my character here is a description.

Name:Anuion(is it ever something else)
age:1938
Description:Anuion wear's green clothing and has light brown hair. He is 1.87 meters high(sorry I don't use foot measures and don't know them either) and carries a light elven sword a bow and a long knife. (just think of a crossing between Legolas and Aragorn only not so perfect as both.
Biography:Anuion is a Sindar elf and was a Mirkwood elf. When reaching the age of 500 he had enough of a life of serving and began to master the art's of fighting and weaponry. When he reiched the respectable age of 1000 he went out of Mirkwood and became a ranger. He has seen many places from the shire till ithilien.

I know that you have already started, but since Anuion is a ranger in the wild you can meet him anywhere so that is not going to be a problem.

Greetings,

Anuion

Yeah, hi. Just thought I'd let you know outside a PM that I'm on board as the resident bad guy. Susan if you want to post or PM your thoughts on motive, how many in the band, where they're from, yadda yadda yadda, that'd be cool. Yay finaly: My firsth bad @ss character.

Well he might need some work, but I might just leave it this way so for now: Here he is.

Name: Dozer (some people think it's borrowed from the Matrix, but I only say this to them:Your right.)
Age: 31
Race: Wild men
Description: He is dressed in black and wears a black cloack. Dozer is carying a bow and arrows and a sword. He looks like a brute muscular men, but takes a hard stand for justice.(altough not always the right form of justice) His hair is brown and dirty and he is very strong.

Hm this could become very interesting indeed.

Hey here's an adding that would make it nice: He isn't very fond of elves.
maybe against my principles, but he is evil.

Greetings,

All right then, you wanna baddie, you gotta baddie! smilies/biggrin.gif

Name: Rû-sahn
Age: 31
Appearance: Dark brown hair that always seems dirty (like Strider smilies/wink.gif) and a short beard, has olive-toned skin, rather well-built, about 5'8".
Personality: The 'strong and silent' type, he speaks rarely, though when he does his words are full of reason. Over all he despises the elves of Lorien, though no one knows why.
History: A man with an elusive past, his craft is with arming his people. He makes spears and bows for the men of his tribe to use, and himself is not unskilled in their use. He is also a hunter when his time is unoccupied by weaponmaking.

Amanduail-

May I please change the person that I am to play in this RPG? I just realized that playing the part of the princess of Lothlorien would not work in this RPG. Here is my new profile, hope that you accept me as this. By the way, when should everyone start posting?

My Profile:

Name: Phare
Age: 19 (in the age of Elves)
Eye color: Dark Blue
Hair color: Golden
Personality: She is a slightly tough elf to deal with, for she has a temper when she is very angry, which is not very often, though. But, she had a very kind heart, which you can figure out from her name, which means "Heart of Gold."
Slight Description: Phare was born and raised in Lothlorien. She has rarely left Lothlorien before, and only then when it was necessary, like when she went to be trained in Mirkwood to be a warrior. She is skilled in the use of the bow and arrow and also in the wielding of a sword. The elf loves animals, especially horses, but she loves nature better, and her home, Lothlorien, even more. She would die defending it or it's people if she had to. Phare is a guard of Lothlorien and takes her job very seriously, and she loves her job. She is a very simple sort of person, though not dumb in any way. Phare would rather things stay the way they always were, though, and she does not accept change very kindly. She was born a hundred years (not very long for Elves) before th Battle of the Last Alliance, and one of her many dreams is to fight in a war like her father did at that time. She likes battle, but she prefers peace. Phare can also heal most any wound.

Phare would love to be considered to join this expedition to find the poor elf girl, and I hope that you will consider her. Namarie, mellons. smilies/biggrin.gif

Bad Guys Unite

Excellent... wrings hands in a sinister manner...

Skara the Woodsman says big ups to Ru-Sahn and Dozer, sounds like we're getting a good group together. As the first bad guy on the scene, I'd like Skara to be the reluctant leader of this party, called upon because of his knowledge of hunting and tracking. My idea is that we all come from the same village, and that you elf-hating fiends have hatched an unholy plot to pillage and plunder the nearby Sorcerous Woods of the Elves. Skara has no love for the Elves, and is easily persuaded to come along by the promise of riches. mmmm... riches...

Let me know what you think, and if you'd rather be the leader I suggest you club me in the back of the head sometime during the story. But if I catch you at it I'll gut you like a fish!

Room for another?

Name: Nura
Race: Men
Age: 17
Personality: Timid and meek, Nura obeys easily and without question. In secret she has dreams of living among elves, dreams she fears can never come true. She enjoys talking with others, something she rarely gets to do with any of her own kind, the Wild men. Her strongest feature is her intense love for learning.
Appearance: Nura has medium lenght black hair which she braids to keep it out of her face. She has large brown eyes, is very silm and of medium height. Wearing commonly a plain brown dress with a long shawl and small, worn leather shoes. Her only weapon is a small dagger.
Other: Nura was born and raised with the wild men. When both her parents dead at a young age, Nura clung to her fierce brother Blair. To Blair she is a slave and she is punished when she hesitates to do as he says. Her brother took her everywhere, on hunts, into battle, wherever.

My plan for this character would be for her to stray from the wandering men and to be found by the company looking for the young elf.

Helka- Sanskrit is a language. I think its like Hindi, I cant remember, Im completely shattered at the moment.

Yeah. Sanskrit is the Latin of the Asiatic languages. Basically, it's just as irritating as all other character based languages (like Chinese and Hindi) and it has the added bonus of being utterly useless like Latin! I went to the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. If that sounds like some wierd cult school, that's only because it is smilies/biggrin.gif . I'm learning Chinese now because I happen to be living in China, and it is a useful thing to know. I continue with Sanskrit because it's a neat party trick. Maybe she will be found by the easterlings and they will decide to kill her now, to save themselves the trouble, or maybe just make do with a beating? And the searchers will find them in the nick of time and there will be an appropriate battle?

On the matter of dying, as I posted in another RPG: It is not appropriate to kill off other players unless they've told us they're not coming back. When players are absent, even for long periods of time, it's usually easier simply to assign the character to someone else until the player returns. A Kill should never be done lightly or on a whim, and never without discussion. But of course, that's not exactly what you meant, is it?

Amanaduial the archer
01-13-2003, 04:41 PM
Roll out the barrels, right?

No, I meant if there is an argy bargy (just to vary words from plain old fight), then its a bit dull if everyone survives.

smilies/evil.gif Im sorry, its not nessesary for anyone to die really. I wasnt going to kill of someone elses character!

Susan Delgado
01-13-2003, 10:41 PM
Yes, the searchers should leave soon. They're letting the kidnappers get too far away. The longer they wait to leave, the less chance they'll have of finding Nuhrive, alive or dead.

Well, it is true...the searchers don;t know what's going on in the kidnappers' camp.

Sultir can't go anywhere until the adults leave. He may be sneaking off, but he's not foolosh enough to sneak off with no support at all. He wants the adults somewhere nearby in case something goes wrong and he needs help.

Oh, and by the way. Garen LiLorian (my nick) was a sixteenth century French knight. My character is Garen LiLorien. As in Lothlorien. The resemblance suggested the name and position to me, so it's not just a spelling error. Thank you for your time. smilies/biggrin.gif

...interesting about your nick! Funny how back in the day instead of popstars they had kings and knights. Was it spelled LiLorien, or le Lorien?

On the subject of bad guys dying, at this stage I'd rather noone killed Skara, unless I change my mind further down the line. I think it would be interesting if at least he and Rû-Sahn could live to fight another day. They are both cunning and resourceful, and I'm sure they could somehow escape without being destroyed. The raiding party was originally 13 men plus Skara (excluding Nura), so there's plenty of other baddies to chop up.

Not sure about Blair, since he hasn't really had much to say so far, maybe whoever is controlling him can post a decision. If he was killed it would give Nura more reason to stay with the Elves, if that is what eventually will happen. Or maybe he just pushes her too far. I dunno, I'm sure someone will post something appropriate to sever their family ties.

Shouldn't Nura have yelled out "sorry to boar you!" or "hope you're not getting boared" or something like that? Too Asterix?

If any good guys want to die, to add some sadness to what will obviously be yet another victory for the accursed goodies, please PM myself or Rû-Sahn. I'll make it as quick and painless as I can, I promise (said with one large, calloused hand behind his back). Of course, it would be possible that no good guys are killed.

It's also possible that no bad guys are killed, but in any case, I can see Sultir being captured (stupid little kid not paying attention to where he's riding!) and they might kill him if they didn't want to try and make him a slave.

Kill as many NPC baddies as you like. There's 13 men, and Nura in the group. 3 men are PCs including Blair. I think it's highly unlikely that no men at all would be killed. It will probably come down to 'kill or be killed' for the elves, and I don't see much hope for pacifism.

Good Guys,

I'm not sure about Garen's elvish, but I thought you'd be asking me what Jemel said. I'm sorry I couldn't write it in Sindarin, so the elvish you see in my last post was Quenyan.

"Elmë ista elyë nar tanna!" translates
roughly to "We know you are here!"

"Mana nar elyë carya sinomë, Sultir?" translates, again, roughly, to "What are you doing here, Sultir?"

There, just in case you were wondering. Though you'll have to get Garen to translate his piece for you. These are of course, rough translations, but it will do, hopefully.

Well, my syntax is pretty awful, but it was basically
"Daro amin, Usquener!" is "Drop me, stinky one"
"Dina, hin" is "silence, child"
and
"En mani amin utue!" is literally "Look what I found" but I don't know if it is correct grammatically.

Sorry for the confusion. There's been so much Elvish flying around in this game, I assumed everyone knew it.

I thought it was a given that he'd follow them for a while before being dicovered. He is a Elf after all, by which I mean he's more stealthy than you've made him out to be. Also, Faedhros (and possibly Jemeth, though I'm not too sure) understand about Nuhrive, so they might just continue to ignore the rustling, like they did at first.

If she escapes, then the only motive for the Elves to attack would be either revenge, or for a little kidnapping of their own. In which case there wouldn't be an attack, and a very anticlimactic story. One of us evil guys will post soon, and my guess is that after much dillying and dallying she may eventually be caught (but not yet, as this is a good way to give the elves time to catch up).

I'm still trying to get my head around times, distances and the absence of fords and bridges.

At one point,
He was now leading his men back to the Great River to find their rafts.
and then, seemingly on the same night as the boar attack, we were
fifty and some leagues off into Mirkwood.
I was trying to think of a way to resolve this, and also looking out for what promised to be an interesting story about a falcon snatching a dagger from the midst of a group of hunters and warriors. I thought that any signs that could be seen around our previous campfires would have proved that we had the elf captive, and Rû-Sahn could have walked off with a nice dagger if he survives for a future quest.

Now that it has been established that he drops the dagger, I can carry on and post - either sometime tonight (sorry, NZ time) or tomorrow afternoon. See you all back on the RPG thread!

The Lands of LiLorian

Er... OOPS!! Boy, you men have really been slacking off, lately! Galadriel's not gonna be a happy camper! Sorry, I thought for some reason that your lands were to the south of Lorien. But I guess they're all around. Incidentally, what does Garen look like, is he (as I think) the only man in the search party, and will the Easterlings be instantly able to recognise him as a man and not an elf (I would guess 'yes')?

As for the dagger being dropped, I'm sure that I saw that somewhere on the discussion thread, but now I can't find it!! Doh. Good post for Rû-Sahn though. Since it happens only to him, and he is quite secretive anyway, it fitted in very well.

Garen LiLorian
01-25-2003, 10:22 PM
Yes. For several reasons. He is probably shorter and broader than the Elves, although he's tall for a Man, but also because he seems to be a great deal more of a quintessential "fighter" than the rest of the party. He has a spear as well as a sword, and wears light armor and a helmet. Besides, all the rest of them prance around like little, well, elves smilies/smile.gif Garen probably sticks out like a sore thumb.

Also, he's got great clod-hopping Manboots. All the rest of these fairies are wearing moccasins. And he has blond hair. Most elves are dark, right? (Doesn't it say somewhere that only Elves of the house of Finrod have golden hair?)

Susan Delgado
01-26-2003, 01:40 AM
Garen, that depends on the tribe: Vanyar are blond, Noldor dark, and Teleri silver. Most Lorien Elves are...uh...Silvan (mixture of Noldor and Teleri: Elf-mutts smilies/smile.gif), so probably they would not have blond hair.
It was actually the house of Finarfin that was noted for having blond hair (but you were close: Finrod was Finarfin's eldest son). The blond hair came from Finarfin's mother, Indis, who was Vanyar.

Any other thoughts?

I've always found Elven genetics fascinating. I suppose the fact that a single blonde ancestor colored the hair of an entire family means that among Elves, Blond is a dominant trait. Interesting!

What kind? Plate? Leather? Might sound pedantic right now, but will come into play later. I think all the Easterlings would be wearing tough leather to cover their chest, back and thighs, over their tunics and pants. No helmets, and only a few warriors (such as Rogar) with crude, round wooden shields.

Garen LiLorian
01-26-2003, 05:34 AM

Not to mention it'd be uncomfortable as **** to wear for weeks on end! smilies/tongue.gif

Good plan.

The time at Lorien seemed to have gone alot slower than the easterlings time; Its about 4 days for the easterlings, 2 for the elves. So we're going to do a weird time warp thing methinks and could the elves catch up quite alot.

The easterlings are not happy at Nuhrive. She gets a bit beat up maybe, then that night methinks Im gonna try and escape again. Then it can go two ways (this is a rough outline and can have phaphy bits, dont worry.)

1.) She gets caught. Now the easterlings, especially mystery man Ru-Sahn (ooh, that rhymes!) are REALLY angry and decide they shoudl just get rid of her; shes too much trouble. The elves come storming in at the critical moment though.

2.) She escapes, finds the elves and leads them to the easterlings. Then it might get a little nasty...

If anyone else has a plan, could they post ti here, or if it is more specific and mysterious, could you PM the people who are involved, and myself. Is there a plan for Ru-Sahn?

The easterlings are not happy at Nuhrive. She gets a bit beat up maybe
That's IF said Easterlings decide to beat her up a bit more. Don't be too masochistic, Nuhrive. After all, she is eventually going to be sold as a (some kind of) slave, and shouldn't be too beaten if it can be helped. The men would rather she walked than had to be carried, as well. I don't think another escape is an option either, the guard on her has been increased since last time. Think the Three Hunters after Merry and Pippin - she will not escape again unless the elves can contrive it.
She escapes, finds the elves and leads them to the easterlings.
This would make the prime motive for the elves' attack that of revenge. Unless you've got Fëanor or Ëol in there somewhere, that wouldn't be ultra-likely.

I think the elves (and Garen) could use the horses to their advantage best by skirting around the forest, over open ground. Mirkwood is pretty dense after all, and the men may be slowing down considerably. The men are heading east and will be leaving Mirkwood at its eastern edge. Maybe Aníram can track them from a distance - this would certainly foil their plan to throw the elves off by entering Mirkwood.

If this plan sounds okay, maybe one of the elves (Jemel, perhaps?) can post something to that effect, and then I'll post straight after.

Amanaduial the archer

I LIKES IT. Good suggestion, Amanaduial, and also whoever thought of it originally (if that was someone else). I see how it can work, now. The Elves could hear arguing and Nuhrive's cries. The moment will also be an escalation of the problems in the Easterling group as well.

So, I guess we need another post getting the Elves closer, and then Nuhrive (somehow) escapes.

After the battle, we have to sort out when the RPG will end, and what will happen to the characters. Will be very interesting for me - I've never actually finished an RPG before!

Snow camp? Whassat?

Thanks doug. You havent finished an RP before? Hmmm. Nuhrives escape attempt wont be much of one, shes pretty desperate by now, I guess shell just try and make a break for it.

I know that I have nothing to do with your RP, but I have extremely enjoyed reading it, and could you tell me if you're going to keep going with it? I am waiting in suspense... smilies/wink.gif I really do like it a lot. It's my favorite of all those I have read so far.

Thank you very much, Galadriel! I'm glad you've enjoyed it. I have too. It's been a great RPG.

BUT IT WILL NEVER END IF NOBODY GOES TO POST! Come on, now, it's been at least a week. Have a care! We're stalling at the best part- the battle! Post, someone... please!

*raises hand timidly* I'm on vacation in Oregon, but I'm still here and waiting!

I think Garen, too, has permanently left. I also haven't seen Doug*platypus for a long while. Hmm... smilies/confused.gif Someone will have to step in for them.

Yes, Brinniel said you were on holiday at the moment. Are you interested in playing an easterling in a new game? If so, do PM me and/or Brinniel.

Ill take on Garens character if youd like. I would like to see what happens between them and twould certainly be a shame if it was to go to waste. Have you got a more solid plan about that?

Ivy, Morai; Nura is still being held by yonder large unknown easterling, I think 'tis Blair actually, and the fools plan isnt really in action yet. We need first hand posts there really, from Nuras view or Harlons.

Hey, I'm here. I've been checking too, and there hasn't been much. I'm more than happy to finish this RPG. Even though I seem to have only one good foot. smilies/confused.gif Ithiliel, where did you get that impression?

Ithaeliel
03-24-2003, 09:33 PM
Garen! You are here!

Well, as for the "lameness:" in your character profile, you said that you'd been injured in a fight and walked with a slight limp. You also said in one of your posts that you wouldn't be much use in battle. If I emphasized the limp thing too much, I'm so sorry. Should I edit?

Aman: I'll reveal the relationship and past between Ru and Garen after the next person posts, then Garen can wing it from there (PM me if you aren't sure). I'm not going to post twice in a row, because technically you're not supposed to... smilies/tongue.gif As I said before, incentive, anyone? Suspense relief? Just go ahead and post! smilies/smile.gif

I apologize once again for my absense. It seems that my computer doesn't have enough memory to run my internet server. I'm in the process of getting a new server or a new computer.
EDIT: Just a reminder, Harlon isn't dying. Oringinally he was leave the battle with only a broken arm, but now a concussion too. (Hopefully something he can recover from!)

Did I really say I wouldn't be any good in a fight? I've been thinking that that's about the only time I'd be any good, in the company of Elves. But it's ok. I do have a slight limp, and you don't need to edit.

I like your latest post. Excellent. One small issue; we're descended from men of the north (what will be men of Rohan) hence the battlecry "Amrûnadan, Adan i Lórien" (Northmen, Men of Lorien)

Are you going to die here, or shall I bring back? I don't really see that you've offended against either my house or the Elfwood, so I won't kill you unless you want me to.

Ithaeliel

You can try to bring Ru-Sahn back if you wish. The plan was for him to be redeemed, and then discover he has wasted so much of his life on hatred that he won't want to go on facing what he's done, so he'll kill himself. But leave the last part to me, fi you please smilies/smile.gif!

I'll edit the Gondor thing, too. Thanks for the info!

Wonderful post, Garen. Very nice. Great job.

I'd just as soon you see the error of your ways and come live a full life among the men of Lórien. Seeing as how this character is my nick, and I've actually got a whole history for him, I'm planning to use him for other games as the opportunity arises, and another character from there would be cool. But whatever you want to do is fine by me.

Ithaeliel
03-27-2003, 10:29 PM
Now I'm not so certain about what I want to do with Ru-Sahn... he's in a good position to kill himself, but the way you made that last post put him in a position to go back as well. I'm leaning toward the latter; I really don't like to kill off my characters, but I need to contemplate it a little.

I don't really expect it to be a problem, with the rather leisurely pace we've adopted, but I'm going to be unavaliable for the next few days. Travelling. If something desperate comes up, anyone who wants can carry Garen along.

You guys, I'm really sorry for intruding on your thread, but I really like your RPG, and would just like to ask: is it gonna die? Because isn't there a policy that it dies after 14 days of no posts or something? And it's been 11...

Once again, I regret to inform you that I'll be out of contact for a few days while traveling. I'd hoped to avoid it, but, say la vee (misspellings pursposeful and intended to be read in a thick accent) as my Texan aunt would say. Hopefully I'll be back before anything happens

Oui, Garen, c'est la vie. I am not gone! If you wish for an explanation, let me just say that the last two weeks have been a living Udûn, and this is the first time in a week-and-a-half that I've been online. I've missed you all! I'll post as soon as I can, but at the moment it is eleven p.m. and I really must be getting to bed. Good night!

Susan Delgado: You must post within the next 3 days if you mean to go on with this game. A request has been made for permission to play your character, and if you do not confirm that you want Sultir, he will be passed over. Sorry, but I cant delay. If you dont want to play him, but equally dont want another person to take your character, that is fine, but please say so here, or in a PM to me, soon!

Ithaeliel, please post your stunningly dramatic post asap. Thanks. smilies/smile.gif

Hi, all.

Very sorry for my (Skara's) sudden and unexplained absence. Of all the RPGs I have had to take leave of, Kidnapped! has been the hardest one to leave behind.

I don't unfortunately have the time to keep writing, although I am on 'holiday' for a few days now and I may be lucky enough to bump into a few of you around the book or movie forum.

Best of luck finishing the game, I believe that if Ru-Sahn's writer is able to step in and speak a few words on Skara's behalf everything will work out fine. As for Skara's ultimate fate, perhaps he could escape from the fight wounded and make his way back east.

thanks,
doug*

Well, all good things must come to an end.

Ithaeliel, do you still intend for Ru-Sahn to make his dramatic speech type jobby, and then kill himself?

The actual quest is over now- Nuhrive is back with the elves, and therefore we are on out last set of posts really. Plan: Ith, post yours, whether he dies or not, then everyone else post their final post after this, when we are back at Lorien. I will post the very last post.

Ithaeliel
04-29-2003, 05:29 PM
All right, my last post is done. The reason I say it is my last post is because, for those who didn't already know, I will be taking a leave of absence for a month or so and will not be able to post again here. I have to say it's been a great RPG, despite a slow pace, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. THank you all!

Thanks Nura, that was a nice end post.

Well, Ive done as well.

Thankyou.
