View Full Version : Does anyone know?
I am trying to create a 'family tree' of the lineage of Beren one-handed and Luthien Tinuviel to see how she was related to Arwen.I got down to Arwen, but there are a few holes, and I was wondering if anyone knew who these people were:Who was the wife of Bregor?(he was the father of Barahir, who was the father of Beren one-handed.)and:Who was the wife of Beren?(he was the father of Barahir"s wife Emeldir and Beren one-handed"s grandfahter)Any help on this is greatly appreciated! smilies/smile.gif smilies/tongue.gif

First of all, Arwen is related to Luthien and Beren through their children. Luthien and Beren had a child, Dior, and he married Nimloth of Doriath, and they had a child, Elwing, and Elwing married Earendil, Tuor and Idril's son. And they had two children, Elrond and Elros, and Elrond is Arwen's father, therefore Luthien is the great great grandmother of Arwen! But, I'll try to find out the names of those people you were asking in my next post!!! smilies/biggrin.gif

Usually those things are left out of the lineage. I know because I wanted to look for a few things and found a lot of holes. I don't think Tolkien really thought it was important to add those names in sometimes. That's only my own thoughts though.

well i realy appreciate everyone's help. And hey, maybe tolkien did leave certain names out, though i cant imagine why,he is a very descriptive and thourgh writer(and the best ever!in my opinion smilies/wink.gif )he goes into such depth in records and histories of Middle Earth that i dont think he would leave stuff out,but who knows?????

Well it probably wasn't crucial to the story. Even writers like Tolkien can't add EVERYTHING. And it must have got tiring thinking up names for everyone.
Yeah, that is true.Maybe he wrote an entire book on the lineages, and it was either never published or it was lost. Those things DO happen. smilies/wink.gif 'Much that once was,was lost, for none now live who remember it...'Galadhriel.

he probably would have finished everthing in time the silmarillion wasn't finished when he died cristolpher tolkien just put it into a published version after tolkien died had he lived longer he might have made detailed histories of every race in middle earth and so on
