The Fifth

(OOC: I have started this topic; the last one was waaaay too long. Now, we shall start where we left off. We have mounted our horses and are about to leave Ithilien towards Rivendell.)

Calad stared blankly at Collette, and gripped tightly onto the bay horse. The horse's ears lay flat against her forehead; she was annoyed by this. The elf could not see this because Thengise was sitting in front and was obstructing view of the horse's head. Thengise noticed this (sorry to post for you, Thengise, but I am trying to keep her personality consistent with what you are posting), and tried to calm down the horse. Calad let go, and leant forward.

The sun's red cap could hardly be seen, glowing strongly against the burnt orange sky. The clouds were huge and black, looking like something out of a nightmare. It was creepy, yet beautiful, and the stars were beggining to awaken from their daylight slumber. As the sun disappeared the moon took over. It was a full moon, round and yellow; it gave off a pale blue-golden light that highlighted the forms of the travellers. Soon Calad noticed a few shadows standing near him. They were the shadows of men who had come to watch them leave. Calad stared back at them and their eyes, which stood out from the rest of their bodies. The horses ferreted at the ground, tossing their heads, and whinnying impatiently. But Calad did not really want to go, even though he knew that he would never be healed if he didn't go to Rivendell.

Thengise waved goodbye to the men as they began to go forward. They were finally leaving Faramir's home, in which they had long stayed due to the many injuries of the group. As the horses rode on, Thengise looked up at the sky to see the stars, which were now spread across the sky. She loved the stars and watched them silently. Thengise would often look back at Calad to give him a warm smile. After what seemed like days of riding the sky grew very dark and night came on.

"We should make a camp and rest,"Kalia said to the group as she stopped at a clearing surrounded by trees. "Yes, your right,"Thengise said softly as she jumped off of her horse.

Sorell rode slowly, wincing from the wounds. His horse plodded steadily, keeping him at the back of the group. He had not yet asked Calad his question, was still trying to find the courage.
He watched Nayru and Collete ahead. They seemed to be getting quite pally.

The group began to make a small camp. They tied their horses to the tree, but gave them enough slack so that they may run around. The faeires flew out to get firewood. Soon the whole group was sitting around a campfire. Thengise passed around some lembas, seeeing as how everyone looked hungry.

The Fifth

Calad took a lemba, and ate it quickly. He heard the fluttering of wings as the faeries set off to gather firewood. They would soon return. The elf glanced briefly at Thengise and Collette, still eating, and then looked at the ground once his and Thengise's eyes met. The sky was deep navy blue now, with small twinkling dots spread out across it. Fireflies also hovered by; they resembled small yellow stars seperated from their kin in the sky. One floated past Calad's face, illuminating his eyes and making them shine as if it were day. Then it was dark again.

Soon the faeries returned, carrying bundles of twigs and sticks, some dead and some still living. They set it into a pile and soon sat down to join the group. At last, they had a fire going. It flared up and quickly devoured the sticks. Occasionally a faerie tossed another stick in, and soon conversation started. Calad only partially listened, staring into the heart of the sun-colored flames. He realized that there was much more light in the world then he had thought; there was the light of fire, the light of the fireflies, the light within his eyes, the light of the stars, and the light of day.

Thengise quietly ate her own lembas. She looked around at the forest then set her eyes on Calad, who was also looking up at her. He removed his eyes from her yet she kept watching him intently. The fireflies lit up his hazel eyes. It gave his eyes so much light, which made her smile. It was getting very late so she got up and said,"Losto Mae(sleep well)." With that she jumped into a tree and sat there quietly looking at the stars and their beauty.

Calad sat there, his chin on his knees, listening to the crackling of the fire. It relaxed him a bit, as well as the singing of the crickets. He watched as Thengise leapt onto a tree-branch and gazed at the stars. Calad slowly stood up, breathing heavily as the wind blew and the smoke drifted towards him. He walked over to the tree, leapt upon the branch which Thengise sat on, and stared at her. Unfortunately the branch was too thin to bear the weight of both elves, and soon it began to crack and creak.

Thengise smiled to see Calad as he jumped upon the branch. She quietly sat there as she looked at the stars and often turned her gaze towards Calad, who also watched her. The silence was broken when she heard the cracking of the branch. She looked down to see that the branch was beginning to split. She quickly and lightly got up, and jumped to the next branch which was thicker. She motioned to Calad that he should follow before the branch broke off.

Collette awoke bearily from the rustling of leaves and cracking of branches. The branch above her face suddenly collapsed, only giving her enough time to roll away.

She laughed bitterly " oh this adventure is just too much fun" she said sarcastically, a hint of crankiness of being awoken and attcked by trees.
" cut it out you two" she said rolling away, and tugging aimlessly at her blanket which had been trapped under the branch.

Calad did not notice quickly enough to jump away from the falling branch. He fell around fifteen feet, doing a flip in the air and landing on the branch on his back, accidently kicking Collette. He shouted in pain, then slowly got up, with his back jerking spasmodically. He was quite shaken by this, and could hardly move. He looked at Collette, wide-eyed.

Thengise looked down at the ground in shock. She quickly jumped down at helped Calad to his feet. She looked at the two who seemed to be in pain. "Are you two ok?"she asked.

Calad did not stand up, even with the help offered to him. He made a slight sound, and tried to lean back. He winced, then decided to stay still. The elf looked up, at Thengise, as if expecting something, but seeing here do nothing but stare back, he looked straight into the crackling fires. Collette did seem to be in pain; he had kicked her with a grazing blow. He clamped a hand around the fallen branch, then attempted to heave himself up. This did not work either, it hurt too much.

Collette got up. " Im fine." she said, only concerned about the safety of her blanket.
She helped calad up and over against a tree, where Thengise cared for him, and she proceeded at tuggling her blanket from the tree once more.
After freeing her blanket, she noticed that her leg, just below her skirts, had a purple bruising cut that was gushing the dark maroon of her blood.
"what do ya know", she said vaguely and went over to the stream nearby to mop it up.

Thengise kneeled down by Calad who couldn't seem to get up. He winced as she touched his leg. "Oh I'm sorry, it seems you have badly injured your leg,"she said softly. She called to the others who helped her drag him by the fire onto her cloak which she had laid on the floor. She sat by him and began to wrap his leg with some cloth she had found. He lay on the floor wincing from the pain. "I'll be right back I promise,"Thengise said softly as she went towards the stream."Are you alright?"she asked Collette.

((OOC: Collette, may I suggest a spellchecker? This is not a chatroom. And also, Thengise, your post was fine, but it was not what I had in mind. I was thinking that Calad broke his back in the fall. Ah well.))

Calad lay on the cloak, his leg wrapped in cloth. His leg had been a bit hurt by the fall, but it was his back that hurt the most. As he drew up to watch the others, he heard and felt a large cracking noise coming from his spine. He grimaced in pain, then lay back down. The elf was frustrated by this new pain, the not being able to stand up. His chest heaved up and down in anger.

Collette came back to the campsite and observed Calad, so obviously in a frustrated upheaval. He had been hurt before, but had never been so frustrated.
"Whats bothering you Calad?" she said, quickly thinking back to her medical supplies, in case he was injured any worse.

((Ah, but your mind and your fingers are but two seperate things.))

Calad turned to look up at Collette. He made a gruff sound, and squirmed, but that just made the pain worse. "Too much! Too much!" He stood up, quickly, shouting more from the sudden movement. There was a grinding sound eminating from him, he stood hunched over, with something protruding from his back. He crumpled back down to the pine-needle blanketed ground.

Collette winced and shut her eyes as she watched what looked like a bone poking from his skin. She wasnt sure, but it made her shudder deeply at the thoght,as she called for thengise and Kalia to get a cloak, a blanket and a large quantity of bandage.
Thengise came running to her aid with a blanket, in which she took the utmost care of being gentle as she wrapped him in it.

Kalia looked up and brought over her own cloak as she heard Collette calling to them. She she grimaced and looked away when she saw Calad's back. She hated the sight of bones. It was a childhood fear. She gave her cloak to Collette and quickly walked to a tree, climbing in it and looking away from the gruesome sight.

Collette rolled him over, fighting him silently and gently trying to pry his mouth open to put in the sleeping liquid once more.

'we have to push this back in" she said wincing a bit, after making him drop off into oblivion " or he wont be able to walk."

Calad fell asleep after the liquid was forced down his throat, and soon became limp in his sleep, although his back twitched slightly. This allowed the companions to do what they wanted. The elf still made noises in slumber, having elvish dreams mixed in with the painful memories, which in turn made the dreams confusing and lost and helped to guide Calad along the path to insanity. It was now almost mid-night, and the waxing moon shone as brightly as the stars.

Collette worked on Calad late into the night. When she had finished, she had Kalia and Thengise help her tightly wrap him wtih bandage around his middle.
They waited for him to wake up, leaning up against a tree talking in low and subtle voices.

Calad awoke only around a half-hour later. He found himself tightly wrapped in bandages, and a dull pain in his spine. Angry again, he clawed off the bandages, and thrashed around, murmuring, "Too much... too many..." Although he was fully awake, he still had sad and tired look to him, and the light in his eyes began to flicker and fade a bit.

Collette groaned loadly in protest, as she had only about 30 seconds of dozing.

Calad stood up slowly, only barely managing to stand. The bone could only be seen as a slight bump now, but he walked strangely, hunched over so that the bone protruded more. He listened to the faerie's announcement. Today was the day that they would set off once more to Rivendell.

Thengise grabbed Calad by the waist and put his arm over her shoulder. She helped him walk over to her horse. She jumped up onto the horse and helped pull Calad onto her horse behind her. She looked over at Collette who looked very tired and was having problems mounting the pony. Thengise smiled as Kalia helped the hobbit onto the horse. She turned back to Calad and asked,"Are you ready to go?"

Calad mumbled, "Ready..." He stared back at Thengise, then looked away to his side. He still hurt badly, but he tried to ignore it. He watched the pony drift off, and then being tied to Thengise's horse's reins. The light began to return just a bit, and soon the horses began to ride at a brisk trot as their reins were pulled upon, with a snort and a whinny. The trees and scenery sped by as the horses sped up to a gallop.

Kalia looked around at everyone and saw that they were tired. She sighed and wished that she could let them rest, but they had spent too much time at Ithilien. She called out in faerie language and all the horses fell into line behind hers.
"Sleep while you can, your horses will follow mine. We stop and make camp later," she told the others, averting her eyes from Calad. The bone, though now back in him, lingered in her mind. She shuddered and turned her head back to the road, slightly yawning.

No, you didn't. But I'm here now!

Amyn rode through the air on her purple steed. Senouce the dragon shot flames through the air and soared off to the left. Brushing the treetops with her tanned feet, Amyn noticed a small group of people down below. They seemed to be in dificulties.
"Bru ed, mi ase lrel. Bru ed. Gir kedas mye." whispered she to the dragon in her native language, faery. (This way, my noble steed. This way. But quietly now.)
The dragon veered downwards, silently as the dove. He landed in a tree, barely shaking the branches. Amyn climbed off, stuffing her brown hobnailed boots into a knapsack, then cast a quick spell, making herself as light as air. She floated down to the company, who were facing away from her on their horses. One seemed to be in great pain. A few looked very familiar. Amyn made herself into the air itself and walked round the company, to just in front of them.
"It really was usful," she reflected, "To have these elemental faery powers."
Amyn flicked back her dark red hair and appeared in front of them, so suddenly that a few horses reared in surprise. Amyn tucked a few odd, flyaway strands of hair behind one ear, then hailed the leader of the group. There was definatley something familiar about her, although Amyn could not see the face, as it was in shadow.

Calad clung tightly onto Thengise as the horse reared up in surprise, but soon the horse stood on the ground again. The elf glared at the person who just, quite literally, appeared in thin air. "Who are you?!" he shouted, the light beggining to fade from his eyes. Curious to know, he slide off the steed, and crept closer as he had done when the companions first met him, with a stern look on his face.

Amyn grinned widely. "Queen o'Mirkwood, ask your friends. I think they know me!"
"Why did I say that?" frowned Amyn to herself. She crossed her arms tightly and let her face return to its usual blank expression. She rarely smiled, it kind of looked unatural.
"And you?" she asked grimly. There was a defiance in her bright silver eyes, challenge and anger. She tossed back her long hair and waited.
When there was no responce, she frowned and repeated her question.
"Who- are- you..." she intoned slowly. Still, no reply. The elf stared at her, weaving back and forth as though he had just come off a swing and was still rocking from the motion. Amyn growled in frustration and stalked off, head held high. She was not leaving them, she was testing to see if anyone would come after her. Singing in her magnificent voice, yet under her breath; for she was shy about it, she strolled along the path, away from the huddle. Someone did come after her, but not who she expected...

((Yes, it is okay, but I despise powergaming as much as you.))

Calad watched silently as she walked off, singing, and decided to follow her, not bothering to ask the others. He crept behind her, growling softly, obviously not liking this new person. Most of the people he had met when he was wandering alone in the wild were evil and corrupt, and this misled him into thinking that everyone was evil except him. However, meeting Thengise and the companions shifted his heart a bit, they were the only ones that he trusted slightly.

He stopped a couple of feet behind her, as if waiting for something. He walked strangely, as he was still injured, and he would be this way for a long while. Then, with his keen Elven eyes, he noticed something purple, but he took it as a mountain, and ignored it.

Oh, good!
Amyn turned slightly to see who was following her. It was like playing a game of peek-bo, not wanting him to see she was looking. She turned a different way and whistled slightly. A big purple something flashed in the corner of her eye. It seemed to be a wisp of cloud, yet moving far too fast. What could it be? And then, Amyn realised...
"Get down, now!" she barked. The company ignored her. Amyn yelled out in exasperation and flung herself to the ground. They'd be sorry they didn't do the same.
I'm not sure what it is but it's dangerous.

Calad looked at the purple thing, which was now swooping towards them. He quickly ducked, covering his head as the thing swooped. As he looked up, he saw that it was a dragon-type thing. He was puzzled. He thought that the dragons had been slain already. A firefly flew past him, and he stood up again, watching the dragon rise into the air, and perch onto the branch of a large, gnarled tree.

Amyn grabbed him, spun him around and looked at her friend. The one she thought was dead. She let go, causing him to stagger backwards and put her hands over her mouth.

Calad stared up at the dragon. He shouted something about slaying the dragon, and then ran awkwardly towards the tree where the beast was perched. He slowly began to climb up, to the branch where the purple dragon was perched. The dragon swung its head to gaze at him, its scales glowing softly in the moonlight. Calad then remembered that he had no weapons against this creature, but that did not stop him from walking on the branch towards it. The dragon snorted, annoyed and slightly curious about this stranger. Calad stood still as he looked int o the dragon's mesmerizing eyes.

Calad pushed against the faerie, trying to get to the animal.

The sky would have been pitch-black if it weren't for the stars and the moon, Elbereth's gifts, being in it. Perhaps the sky was lightening a little; it was nearing past midnight.

<<YAY!! I'm back>>

Thengise jumped off of Arien and ran towards the tree. She quickly jumped into the tree and grabbed Calad by the arm. He looked at her wildly and said,"I don't trust dragons!" as he began to try to get free from Thengise's grip. "No Calad it's alright. He is but a pet,"Thengise said softly. She stroked his hair with her free hand, while using her other one to hold onto his arm. He did not move, yet stood still watching the dragon. Thengise looked up at the faery standing before her. "You are the queen of Mirkwood?"Thengise questioned for she was unsure of how that could be since she was a faery not an elf and Thengise herself was the princess of Mirkwood, though Calad did not know this yet.

Calad nearly fell off the branch himself, but clung onto it before he could fall. He slowly sat up, and his hair blew wildly from the breeze created from the beating of the dragon's wings. The elf watched as the dragon comforted the faerie. He was a bit startled by that, but soon climbed down the thick tree and landed without a noise on the grass.

Not much happened now; it felt like time was taking forever. The sky was not stuck in this awkward time, but it had started to lighten just a bit, becoming dark navy blue. Perhaps there was a tinge of brighter blue here and there, signaling that to-morrow would be a cloudy day.

Collette shrugged at them, and felt a pang of rage as the stranger told the princess of Mirkwood as well as her best froend to stop being stupid.....
Who did she think she was?
She fell from the tree. Collette took no notice, but ignored her and proceeded in re-shoudlering her pack so they could leave this rude intruder behind and continue on their way.

Thengise was quite alarmed and angered at being called stupid, but it had seemed that the faery had introduced herself as the queen of Mirkwood. She looked down at her feet and said nothing. She looked up to find Calad having kicked the girl off the tree. Calad jumped down, but said nothing. Thengise jumped off and approached the girl who was being comforted by her dragon.

"Are you ok? I'm sorry we didn't tell you before, but Calad is a bit ill and you musn't upset him or startle him in anyway,"she looked down at the girl and held out her hand to help her up.

Collette gave Thengise an ezasperated look and coughed something that sounded vaguely like *cough!* SECRECY! *cough, cough!*
And beckoned Thengise over. "lets just leave her!" collette murmured quickly. " we cant have any intrusions. we need to get him to rivendell NOW!"

Thengise looked over at Calad who was just staring at the dragon. "You're right. We need to get him to Rivendell as soon as possible, but I just wanted to make sure she was alright,"Thengise said softly as she watched the girl who was still on the floor. Thengise thought well of faeries, yet this one seemed different to her.

Collete why are you trying to ditch me?

Amyn stood shakily. She watched as Thengise and Collete spoke. She caught the occasional word 'faery' and 'leave' and 'go without'. Amyn managed to understand she was going to be left, so she stood, with her shoulders down and a look of great sadness. She turned and walked away miserably, a great weight heavy upon her heart. She was not wanted. She never was. Sitting upon Senouce, she blew an unknown message of love to Sorell and Kalia, the friends that she would not see again, and let the dragon take her to the top of a tree.

Collette watched her fly away, trying hard to ignore the pangs of guilt echoing through her head.
She looked so sad, but she turned cold once more and re-mounted her pony, ready to go.
"Collette!" scolded thengise. "stop being so rude!"
"wha-?" She began to argue, but thengise shushed her, making Collette's eyes roll.

Calad watched the faeries depart on that dragon that seemed to belong to her. He sat still on the tree branch, looking down. He remembered the incident with another tree, and as he looked at the great height between him and the deadly ground, he grew afraid and froze, only moving so that he could blink.

He noticed the others packing up, speaking of leaving, and mounting their horses once more. It was dark, he was high up, and he did not want to come down. He then finally moved, shuffling over to next to the trunk of the tree, straddling the branch. He grasped on the branch as if he were a witch about to fly off on a broom, staring down at them all, thinking that they looked like they were the size of hobbits from the height. He froze again, allowing some locks of hair to fall down and obstruct his eyes.

Thengise looked around for Calad only to find him frozen up in the trees. She jumped off of her horse and ran towards the tree. Calad seemed unable to jump down, yet she wouldn't blame him for being frightened especially after having injured himself as badly as he did. She jumped into the tree behind him. "Grab my hand,"she said softly as she held out her hand for the frightened elf.

He did not grab Thengise's hand, as she had told him to. He remained in the same spot, hardly moving and staring out the ground, not wanting to fall to his doom, or so he thought. He turned around to look at Thengise, not really being able to see anything with the hair in his eyes, and then, thinking that the branch shook, suddenly gave a shout and then leaned forward, gripping the branch more tightly and pressing his face against it.

Yeah I know, but there isn't really much point then in being in this RPG if you don't want me to come, is there?

Amyn waited until the company was packed and out of sight, then followed on her dragon. She wanted to see Kalia and Sorell, and nothing would stop her. Even that rude, sily little hobbit. Senouce winged her way through the tremoulous air, following the line of travellers. Amyn just prayed that no-one would see her.

<< I dont see why you worry. Who is going to care about the opinion of a rude and silly hobbit anyways?>>

Collette gave an indignant snort at the girl who was conversing with Kalia and Sorell not far off.
Collette yelled up to Thengise who was trying to coerse Calad off the branch. "Are you almost done??"
"Almost" came her muffled reply. Collette sighed and sat upon her pony waiting for them to leave, which seemed like never.

Calad continued to grasp firmly upon the branch. His elven ears could detect the beating of wings in the night air. He wondered if that dragon-creature had come back. Collette yelled to them if they were done yet. Calad thought in midst of his fear, does it look like we are done? Idiotic halfling. Mustering up a bit of courage, he lifted up his head, which before had hung lifelessly as he stared wide-eyed at the ground.

He gazed towards Thengise, who was still attempting to convince him to grab her hand so that she may lead him back onto the earth. But Calad would not budge. This fear held him in place, but at the same time he wanted to get this over with. With his back already injured, he thought, why not injure it more?. But this, he also thought, would be a fatal mistake.

And so, he let go of the branch he had held tightly onto, then allowing himself to plunge downwards towards the ground. The wind whistled in his ears, stung his eyes as he fell...

Thengise watched in horror as Calad let go of the branch. The elf fell to the ground with a loud thud. He moaned with pain as Thengise rushed down the tree and knelt down by Calad. Thankfully the branch had not been as high as before, but he had still managed to put his spine out of place a bit. Thengise looked down at the bone in horror, as Collette came running with some bandages. Calad winced with everytime Thengise wrapped the bandages around him so as to push his bone back in place. "I'm sorry I have to do this,"she whispered to him as he moaned with pain.

Calad closed his eyes a moment, feeling Thengise's hands pressing his back firmly in an attempt to pop the bone back in place. He opened them, and felt a sharp pain as she pushed on it. He screamed loudly, making a flock of early morning birds fly out from their perches. He kicked out, but was soon restrained by skillful hands and soon bandages were quickly wrapped tightly around his lower waist. He did not try to move again, and sat still, his head drooping down to his chest, as if he were about to fall asleep.

Thengise and Kalia picked Calad up by the arms and half dragged him to Thengise's horse. The group helped pulling Calad up on to her horse while trying hard not to hurt him. The group was finally beginning to ride on towards Rivendell. Thengise could feel Calad wincing with pain with every step the horse took. She felt bad for the elf, yet inspite of his injury she hoped they would soon make it to Rivendell where he would hopefully be cured. She looked back at Calad and gave him a warm smile before giving him a light kiss on the lips.

Calad leant forward on the horse, feeling the steed's hooves clomping against the ground as it broke into a full gallop, along with the other horses carrying the others. Of course, Collette's stubborn pony refused to go, but soon was convinced into following along. (Sorry to powergame, but no one else is responding..) The night sky was indeed fading. It was turning into moderate mix between a periwinkle and grey color, the bottom portion of the sky pink and outlining the clouds which were hinted earlier in the night.

The elf looked up, glancing tiredly at the others who rode by. The scenery flashed by, green trees, green grass, and the Misty Mountains loomed up like great snowy towers in the distance, ominous in the lightening sky. He could remember this place from earlier travels.

I'm ticked off because I split coke on my brand new blue tee so this post might be a bit abrubt.

Amyn swooped down and took a look as Calad fell from the tree. When Thengise kissed him Amyn gave a sudden whimper. How she would love for the one she loved to kiss her. she would only ever love one, and that one did not know that she loved him. She slapped her hand, telling her emotional side to back down, then turned sharply and rode upwards against the wind. She felt like deliberatly falling off to see their reaction.
Amyn decided though, to scare them, so she flicked her hair from her eyes and dived. Gathering speed she waited until she was literally an inch from their heads and then flying at an enourmas speed above them. Taken by surprise, the horses reared and more than one of them fell off. Amyn tilted Senouce to one side so her bare foot kicked Collete in the back of the head. Then, before anyone could react, she flew off, laughing at the poor, stupid group, looking like they'd been bombed. Served them right too.

Calad managed to cling onto the horse's neck and stay on. After the horse calmed down, he glared up at the faerie, who laughed so cruelly at their misfortune. Wincing with pain at first, he became filled with rage. How dare that thing try to kill us! he thought. He reached for the scabbard of his short sword, but then remembered that it had been taken away. Angry from that, he looked around for anything to use against the "enemy".

He slid off the horse, managing to stay on his feet. The only thing he could find to use against her was a single stone. He picked it up, aimed, and threw it. Being a Wood-Elf raised in Mirkwood, he was trained to have good aim, good enough to hit a single leaf from the branches of a tree in the darkness of the forest. Still, there was a chance she might swerve out of the way.

Calad's aim was on target. She fell from her ugly beast to the ground many feet above.
Collette ran over to the girl, her face contorted in pain.
She kicked her in the head in retailation and gave her a very dirty finger sign.
"Fate has strange ways of working you ugly girl" she said, before thneigse pulled the angry hobbit away from doing anymore damage that she would have loved to inflict.

Thengise walked towards the girl who was still laying on the ground. "What do you think you were doing? Why must you do such things? I know the hobbit can be rude, but she does not trust easily that's all. I'm deeply sorry for all we have caused you. I'm just curious to know how you came upon us and I think a proper introduction is in order, for I do not yet know who you are,"Thengise finished.

Amyn stood, flinging back her hair dirty from the mud. She whistled and Senouce hurtled to her side. Before answering Thengise, she straddled the dragon and treated Collette to one of her most dangerous stares. Collette returned the look, but after 30 seconds of looking at Amyn's burning furious black eyes she looked away.
"All I wish is to travel with you. Some of my dearest friends I thought were dead are travelling with you and I simply want to talk to them. So that stupid little girl hobbit can shut her mouth, because I do not trust you either, I want only to spend time with my friends."
Standing there, with her feet bare and a chil wind blowing her hair about, Amyn had an almost regal air about her. She unfurled her wings and flew to Collette. Hanging upsidedown in the air in front of her, she said
"I am angry. I wanted to harm you. For this I am sorry. But I feel great loss." Without waiting for an answer, for Amyn knew it would be rude and unfeeling, she sighed and swept herself back onto Senouce. These Hobbits. They simply did not feel for others. How could Collette understand?

Collette said nothing, but turned back towards the horses. Thengise looked at the faery as she flew onto her dragon. "Thank you, but I still need a proper introduction from you, for I am still unaware of your name and who you are,"Thengise said softly as she looked up at the faery. She looked over at Calad who was watching intently, while she waited for the faery's reply.

Calad was still angry. All of the wing-people he had met were either creepy or bad. He glared at the faerie, the light flickering and then dying down in his eyes. He sighted a large rock, as big as a horse's head, and bent down to pick it up, wincing as the rock put stress and pain upon his back.

He limped towards Thengise and the group, and the faerie on top of the dragon. The dragon noticed Calad immediately, snorting annoyingly at the elf who had tried to attack him. Calad heaved the rock, aiming for the faerie, before anyone could stop him. The horsehead-sized rock flew and hit the dragon on its horns. The horns cracked and shivered under the weight of the rock. The dragon whirled its head about, roaring in pain.

"I am Amyn and- OH!" Amyn finished the last bit as the rock hit Senouce's horn. She looked around wildly to see who threw it, and saw Calad sneaking away, looking guilty. She leapt off her steed and sped towards him. Before the elf could escape, Amyn had him by the collar, shaking him.
"You wicked wicked beast! Why did you do that? What did my poor, darling Senouce do to you? You evil, wicked hound of Sauron! May you be eternally encased in the fires of hell!"
Screaming out this stream of curses in faery, Calad had no idea what she was saying. But she finished with a sharp slap, and then walked away.
With a howl like a wounded animal, Calad leapt onto Amyn's retreating back, hitting and punching, wanting to hurt the faery in any way he could. eventually, Thengise pulled him off and Amyn lay on the muddy ground, a pool of blood beggining to spread around her. One wing was crumpled and torn. Senouce forgot his pain and lay beside her, making a noise as much like a wounded puppy as you would ever imagine coming from a dragon.

Calad grew excited by the sight of the puddle of blood forming on the ground and soon mixing in with the mud, creating a disgusting mixture. He struggled away from Thengise's grip, screaming in a horrible way, and lapped up the muddy blood like a bloodthirsty cat. The dragon, Senouce, snarled at Calad. The elf no longer thought about his life, and snarled back. The dragon lifted its long tail, and, cracking it like a whip in the air, smote Calad with it.

Calad flew back, landing on the ground about a few meters away. He was in an immense pain, and could hardly stand up. Now angier than before, the elf barely stood up. However, the fall had also hurt his back. (OOC: Again, sorry for powergaming.) Thengise was quite surprised by all of this, glancing at the dragon and faerie, watching Collette's angered reaction for a brief moment. She ran to Calad to aid him and to restrain him once more.

"That stupid faery is ruining our plans." Collette muttered to Thengise, as they hurried to see how badly he was injured.
"She doesnt know how sick he is, and she is going to get herself killed."
"He's not sick" Thengise said back defensivley.
Collette raised an eyebrow at her, but made no comment. As she had worried, Amyn knew now that Calad was not normal, and that clued her about their journey.
Sighing, she left Calad to thengise, and abstracted a reel of bandage from her pack, and swept over the bloddied form that was Amyn.
Senounce growled in a dog-like manner, but Collette showed him the bandage pointedly to quiet him.
She softly wrapped the broken parts of wing (that still remained attatched) and wrapped her injuries, and scutteled away after Sorell and Kalia came by their friends side,so the faery would think they had cared for her.

Calad watched the three faeries unite. They appeared to be good friends. Calad growled at that, but inside himself, he knew that he wanted friends such as that. He wondered if he even had any of these 'friends' at Mirkwood and if they missed him.

Once again, he made his way towards the three faeries, half-crawling, half-stumbling. Senouce growled at him, his broken horns glinting in the rising sun. Feeling sane, he reached out with a hand towards the dragon's head. The dragon snarled, then glared at the hand of his enemy. Amyn looked up at Calad, expecting him to do something crazy. But instead, he sung in the Elvish language, which only Thengise could understand:

White flowers in the sky,
clinging onto sky so high.
Leaves full of jewels,
the trees slowly lull.
Among the sky the gold moon rises
the golden moon is the wisest.
Sing O Golden Moon,
for evening ends to soon.
You are doomed to fall
when the morning birds call
and the Sun takes your place
with its bright yellow face.
So sing, my golden child,
o'er green fields wild,
before the sky grows light
and your power loses might.

Thengise looked in wonder at Calad. His voice was so pure and his face and eyes were lit with the inner light, which she had faintly seen in his eyes. Calad looked at Thengise. The light in his eyes flickered a moment, then glowed steadily for a while. The dragon cocked its head, listening, as he started another round of song.

The morning star rises in skies old
reflecting upon leaves like pearls of gold,
in the rising skies the fire shoots
and a flying owl hoots.
Under boughs of glowing trees
blows the morning breeze,
western winds bring the truth
avoiding the gaze of dragon's tooth.

Stars may wander
over other skies yonder,
but the morning goes on.
The golden moon is dead and gone
and the Sun is rising fast.
The Sun remembers the past
and all that goes between it,
for in the sky he shall sit.

Darkness falls
and light calls;
the Sun plays host
for the shining ghost
that once moved among the sky.
For past old is not to shun
the morning stars and the Sun.

In a name of hope
was lent an invisible rope
towards the light, towards the light,
of the star-dome in sight.
Above the leaves
the evening grieves,
for light has come.

Darkness falls
and light calls;
the Sun plays host
for the shining ghost
that once moved among the sky.
For past old is not to shun
the morning stars and the Sun.

He finished it now, and fell to the ground with a very soft thump and the splatter of mud onto the back of his ragged cloak. The light began to fade again, but came back in violent jerks as he glanced from Thengise to the scenery in front of him.

Only the faint rustling of leaves could be heard as all eyes were on Calad. Thengise had a soft smile on her face as she stepped towards Calad. She pulled him up off the ground and gave him a light hug. "Very beautiful, truly,"she whispered in his ear before turning to the rest of the group. "We must continue our journey. Collette shook herself mentally, the thought and sympathy rolling into an apathetic cough as she shrugged off her kindness, fading into cold oblivion once more.
"Can we leave now?" she asked impatiently.

Calad made a slight sound as he was pulled up and tugged towards the horse, slung onto its back. He scrambled up into a sitting position, just behind Thengise. The horse shifted its legs, stretching a bit for the journey ahead.

Looming in the distance was but the Misty Mountains. One must tread carefully through them; for goblins dwell far underneath, but the good news is that they seldom come out and attack, at least not without good reason. Beyond the mountains the Valley stretched out, and in the Valley was Rivendell.

The sun grew stronger now. It was morning-time, and the winds blew gently forth, making things flutter and flap in the breeze. The winds carried along a cold, fresh, hazy mist that hung slowly above them. The sky was a very pale blue, with a few clouds moving sluggishly about. The grass was a mix of green and yellow and in between, but it was all covered in dew. The horses and the pony bent their heads down to take a bite out of the pleasant-tasting grass.

Calad stared ahead. Is this the end? Is this it? he thought. He was a bit dissapointed in the least. For some reason he expected a long, drawn out, horrible journey. And so far, he thought more, it was. He failed to realize that not all of the quest he was unwillingly put into was not all that bad. He continued to think like that, but not saying anything towards the others.

Sorell was so tired he very nearly fell asleep on his horse. He didn't know why he was tired, but he was. Once, his eyes closed and he came close to rolling off the the horse, but just managed to shake himself awake. After that, he tried to look everywhere quickly, to stop himself becoming less alert.
His mind, usually crowded with thoughts, was strangely empty.

Collette stared with wide eyes at the beautiful city. Thengise cried something in elvish, and a few guards came to her aid.

The elf-guards halted at the words of Thengise, then nodded in understanding. Noticing Calad staring at their weapons, bows already notched with arrows, they put the arrows back into the quiver and dropped the bows.

Calad dismounted the horse, but pressed his back against the steed's side, trying to stay away from the guards. The three Rivendell elves looked at each other for a moment, asking silently if they had any idea on how to coerce Calad. "Come with us," spoke one guard, and swiftly, he managed to grab Calad's arm and drag him, screaming and thrashing about. The guard held on so firmly that the only way Calad could escape was by gnawing his own arm off.

Another guard bade Thengise, Collette, Sorrel, and the others to follow them across the Ford to the Last Homely House, leading the horses along with them as well, so that they may be stabled and sheltered and fed after their long journey. The companions could hear a faint nonsensical singing, as if the elves of Imladris were greeting them.

O come here you are weary,
elf, hobbit, and faerie,
come, come!
Ha! Ha! Ha!
O come here from mountains,
for they spray snowy fountains,
Tra-la-la!
Upon grey horses
you ride from strange courses
Fa-la-la!

The singing stopped as they arrived. In the trees were a few elves. The guards surrounded Calad, and the odd elf was quite confused with these merry folk about them. They were unchanged, even after the events of the War of the Ring, for it is wise of them to enjoy the time that they have left upon Middle-Earth.

The sun peeked over the Valley, over the mountains, and the land that rolled beyond. The Ford of Bruinen's waters shone clearly, glittering with the light. It was a fine afternoon, and it had taken them only a few hours to ride to Rivendell, without delay from the nasty creatures and evil things that hid underneath.

Thengise looked around in joy and wonderment. She listened to their song and smiled. It had been long since she had been surrounded with so many elves. The fair city lightened her heavy heart. She was led to the Last Homely House along with the others. They were greeted at the door by an unknown elf. "Come, my lord is waiting,"he said as he took them in. Thengise looked around quietly at the beautiful halls as she followed the elf before her. They finally reached the last chamber where she saw Lord Elrond sitting at the head of a table. The group was seated around the table as they silently watched the elven lord.

"Suilannon le, my lord,"Thengise said softly as she bowed her head. "We come to ask for your aid. One of the elves of Mirkwood was taken by the enemy, yet he was thankfully recovered. He remembers not who he is. And at times has some outbreaks, when thinking of the horrid things they did to him. I ask that you please bring him to his normal state of mind,"Thengise said softly as she finished. Lord Elrond listened intently to the news. He surveyed Thengise for a while before speaking......

Amyn leant further forward, hanging onto the ledge just above Elrond's head. She listened to Thengise talking and grinned.
"No-one gets rid of me that easily" she murmered. she had followed the group, keeping well out of sight, to here. Where they were going after this, she did not know.
Quite suddenly, Thengise looked upwards, almost directly at Amyn. Ducking quickly back to avoid being seen, Amyn lost her tight grip, and plunged three feet down, to land in a heap at Elrond's feet.
Elrond was extremly startled, but Thengise was not, knowing from experience that this was just the kind of dumb stunt Amyn might pull.
The bruised, but not badly hurt faery picked herself up, and, with as much dignity as she could muster, clambered back onto the roof and got on Senouce's back. She was going to see Sorell and Kalia properly, if she died doing so. She rode towards the servant's quarters and eavesdeopped for a while there.
Amyn picked up some info, then flew back. the group had gone inside and presumably to have some food. Brushing back her long red hair, Amyn dropped silently into the doorway, checking for guards. None. Good. She ran quickly and lightly along the passage, until she reached a free room. She had heard the servants.
"Where are the guest going to sleep?"
"If they stay, the corridor inside the entrance would be best. There's five free rooms there. The mad one is staying in a special room."
Amyn calculated. One room each for Kalia, Thengise, Collette and Sorell. Leaving one free room. She would take that one as her hide. She picked a random room and waltzed inside, locking the door. By burning the door slightly, then replacing it with ice, she was able to see through quite clearly. She just hoped no-one would notice. Placing a quick fog screen around the door, she could still see out, but no-one could see in. She frosted over the lock, making sure no-one could get in. She could easily fly through the window and eat outside.
Amyn settled down to watch and wait.

Calad jumped at the sight of Amyn. It is that idiotic thing again! thought Calad, and he screamed, "Get it off! Away!" until the guards clenched onto his waist so that he could not escape and cause trouble in Rivendell. The elf squirmed, panting, his hair getting in his eyes.

Elrond was startled as well at the faerie, but soon regained his stern composure. Looking at Thengise, then at Calad. He then spoke. "That can be done," he said, "but that does not mean he can be fully healed. The memories may be so painful that he will perish if he does not go to the West." He had his own memories, of his wife leaving for Valinor, from the sam cause: orcs. He said, "You shall be brought to your rooms." Then he paused. "The other will stay elsewhere."

After Elrond finished, the guards that held on to Calad walked out of the House and to a corridor. There were five rooms there, just as the guards that Amyn overheard said. The guards went into a room, seperate from the others. The group was led into their rooms as well. Each of them had a pleasant atmosphere, with the walls all white, the windows ornate and letting the sun shine brightly through, white beds in the corners.

Thengise changed into a finer attire after she was taken to her room. She sat on her bed brushing her hair as she thought of Lord Elrond's words. She hoped dearly that he would be cured well enough so that he would not have to leave and go into the west. She set down her brush and walked to the window in her night gown. A soft smile appeared on her face as she looked out into the fair city. It brought her back to Mirkwood as she gazed at the trees. She began to wonder where Amyn had gone off to. Thengise knew she was not far off. She turned towards the door and decided to pay Calad a visit.

She walked to the next door which was being guarded. "I wish to check on the elf,"she said softly. The two guards looked at each other for a while before slowly nodding and opening the door for her. Thengise heard the door being shut as she walked in. Calad was quietly sitting on the bed as he looked out the window. "Beautiful isn't it?"Thengise asked.

The Fifth

Calad turned his head around as soon as he saw Thengise walk in. He gazed upon her, nodding slowly. He too was clad differently, in all white clothing that went with the white walls and white bed. His hair contrasted with all of that. He then reclined tiredly upon the bed. As he was led into his room the guards had told him that a healer would be coming by as soon as possible. However, he could not tell the exact moment that the healer would be coming from listening, for elves make no sound when walking. He slouched forward, setting his arms upon his lap and staring at the white, marble ground.

There were a few brief, soft words coming from outside the door. The doors were swung upon by the guards, who seemed to be a bit bored, but they remained alert; Calad was unpredictable and could do the most unexpected things. Stepping into the room was the healer, they could tell. He was garbed in robes, and although a bit shorter than the guards, he still had a sense of gentle power. He strode towards Calad.

Calad froze at the sight of this stranger. What was he going to do to him? Instead, the healer stopped in front of Calad. He turned towards Thengise. "I am afraid that we must be left alone, m'lady," he explained. "One cannot concentrate with visitors about." Thengise did as he said, and walked out of the room. Turning back to Calad, he smiled softly. "Hello, I mean no harm. Do not shrink away like a cornered deer. My name is Taralquamegil, and what is yours, if you remember at all?"

The elf leapt off the bed, to the side of Taralquamegil. The healer turned again, waiting for an answer. Calad wanted to yell out, "I don't know! Go away!" but he just.. couldn't. The other elf standing in front of him didn't seem to want to budge. He soon grew angry, glaring at the new foe. Taralquamegil merely stared back, and asked, "Tell me. What happened to you? I do not want to hurt you, I merely want to help. Now tell."

Calad still did not answer, although he knew what it was. He backed off into the corner of the room, his brows furrowed in a combination of confusion, anger, and sadness. He did not tell, although he wanted. Something inside of him, like a constant, nagging voice of the orc he was dangerously close to being was telling him to do what it said. He was a slave of his own mind. The elf cried out, clenching his fists and hitting them against the walls. From outside, the guards could hear a faint noise, but they paid no heed to it.

Taralquamegil was now filled with concern, although he was still staring at him. He stepped back now; he did not want Calad to feel imprisoned, and he did not want to make any enemies. He pulled a chair out from the desk in the opposite corner, and sat upon it. He spoke, "Very well. I shall wait until you are willing to speak. It may take an Age, but you shall feel much better if you say at least one thing about yourself."

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood
09-29-2002, 10:47 PM
Thengise left the room as she was told. She walked back to her room and sat on her bed, as she strained her elven ears to hear what was going on in the next door. She heard pounding, but next came long silence. It seemed that Calad would not speak, but she couldn't blame him for not wanting to speak to an unknown elf. Thengise paced back in forth as she waited for the healer to come back out so that he may tell her what was happeneing. She could not take the waiting so decided to go out for a walk.

Outside the stars were shimmering in the night sky. They were very beautiful, the gifts of Varda. Thengise walked among the trees silently, yet she could not help, but think of what was going on in Calad's room...

Collette collapsed upon her bed, heaving off her heavy pack and aimlessly throwing it to the floor.
She was dearly ready for a proper sleep, and the cushioned, feather-soft down of the mattress was already making her feel as though she could sink right through it into a dreamless oblivion, but the insomniac emerged from her partially-concious mind and kept her tossing and turning about, never able to be comfortable.
All she could think about was what to happen next....
She sighed wearily and rolled off the bed. It was too soft, and she was too used to sleeping on the hard ground, or beneath the trees, and the wood of the floor comforted her more than the soft matress, she turned over and dropped off to sleep.

Calad was very annoyed now. That crazy elf is going to sit there and wait and wait forever! he thought. They had been in the same position since the afternoon when they had arrived, and now, a few hours have swept by, and the sun was pushed under the horizon. The stars glimmered and twinkled in the dark sky and moonlight was cast into the room, making pale-blue shapes from the window on the floor and walls, hitting the elves' faces.

Finally, he could not take it anymore. He was just going to be standing here while he waited until they died! He let loose everything that had happened to him in a flurry of words. "Alright! Alright!" He cried, "You want me to tell?! I will tell!"

"It happened years ago... the elves of Mirkwood and I were summoned to the halls... the Necromancer was stirring in the South... my father, he wanted me to go, although I did not want to, for I was not among the most skilled, but I was sent anyway in battle. There were orcs and elves everywhere! Too many to count! Then they.. took me away with the blackness of the Dark Lord himself!

"We travelled for many miles, but I and another were dragged about like luggage! Then we came there, to that terrible land.. we were put in a tower.. they held us upon racks, tortured us, sent spikes through our bodies, broke our spirits.. and.. the Ringwraith! He was there too! One night we managed to escape... don't know how... we went seperate ways, until I was captured.. those guards were, couldn't help it! I killed them! I killed them all! Then I fled, and soon you horrible people found me and dragged me here!"

Now finished speaking, he fell to the floor, quivering. Taralquamegil had listened intently, managing to keep track of what the elf said. He spoke, in reply to all of this, "I see that your fate was much worse. But, what is it that makes us so 'horrible'?"

Calad was angered once more, but the elf was right; he felt a little better, not keeping it bottled up inside of him. But his inner orc smote him. Who does this person think he is? he thought. Quivering more, and stumbling towards him, he said, "You're horrible! That is all!"

Thengise was silently walking outside when she heard Calad's shouting from the room up ahead. The elf ran back into The Last Homely Home. She ran through the halls until she reached Calad's room. "Let me in!"she demanded as the guards held her back. The guards opened the doors and asked the healer for permission. "Yes, let her in,"Taralquamegil said softly. Thengise walked in slowly. "Do you think she's horrible?"he asked Calad softly as he gestured at Thengise.

Nayru walked around outside with Sorell, gazing at the Stars. She wispered to him:
"I can't believe we made it all of this way. Idmarillys! We're here Sorell!" He looked at the ground and she put her hands around his waist.
"Astril Sorell. We will heal Calad and we can go somewhere. All of us. Even Calad. Stop worrying! I would like some sleep. If you need to see me, I am bunking with Collete. Seems the other bedroom door is jammed. Goodnight." She smile softly and let go of his waist. He replied with a smile, and she walked off.
* * *
When she reached the room, Collete was fast asleep on her bed. Nayru giggled and walked to her bed and put her stuff down.
She walked over to a small changing room, put on her pajamas, and put her silver hair in a tight bun. She then murmmered: "I hope that they can heal Calad so we can all live happily. Goodnight Everyone. Exspecially Sorell and Calad."
She rolls to face the open window, and the cool breeze rocks her to sleep.

Calad gazed at Thengise. He mumured, "No..." Then his inner orc smote him once more, and he shouted, "Yes! You are all horrible! Go away! I hate you!" He then fell to the ground with a thump, and he writhed around uncontrollably, like a worm that was about to be eaten, beating his fists upon the floor like an angry child until they bled. Both Thengise and Taralquamegil ran to aid him. Thengise grabbed his waist firmly, and Taralquamegil sat down upon the floor, grabbing Calad's arms and attempting to stop the motion.

Taralquamegil shook his head. "Ai.. we were making progress, as well. He had told me what had happened to him." He sung softly to Calad, a well-known song meant to soothe elf-children, and soon Calad calmed down a bit. He then spoke, repeating the question he asked earlier. "What is it that makes us so horrible?"

Calad looked up into the elf's sky-blue eyes. "You just are!" he said loudly. He then looked at Thengise, calming down again.

"We are not here to hurt you," Taralquamegil said once more. "You greatly desire our help, I can see that, and yet you don't at the same time. I am here to rid you of your terrible memories, if you would allow me to."
The healer looked at Thengise. "Do you know much about this elf? You have been around him longer to know. Did he tell you anything?" He questioned.

Thengise let go of Calad, but moved closer to him. Taralquamegil's hands moved up to Calad's neck. He sung once more, cradling the elf's head in his arms. "Perhaps our friend here would like a rest. It has been a long day, and it shall be a long night. I will continue this next morn." He stood up, letting go of Calad. "Good-night!" he said, and the healer strode out of the doors, before glancing at Calad as he left. This allowed Thengise and Calad to be alone, now.

Calad managed to stand up, shaking all over as if he were violently sick, and he fell tiredly onto the bed. So much had happened this night, and all the thoughts of what he did and what they did were swirling like a hurricane in his mind. He stared at Thengise.

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood
10-01-2002, 10:40 PM
Thengise looked at the healer as he walked out of the door. He had made progress at least in getting Calad to tell him what she did not yet know. She turned to look at Calad who was plopped on the bed, staring back up at her. She sat down on the bed, so that she was looking down at him. "I know you might not like that elf, but he is here to help you. Thank you, though for opening yourself up a bit. It will all help in the end,"she said softly as she looked into his eyes as the light flickered on and off in them. "You must find yourself,"she continued hoping to get the light in his eyes steady.

The Fifth
10-01-2002, 10:57 PM
Calad listened to those words, but he was still furious. The light in his eyes disappeared entirely now. He had stopped fighting the orc within him, and as the light faded away, his eyes were cast into shadow. He beat his fists upon the bed, and soon they started to bleed again. Whirling around energetically, he lept off from the bed, snarling loudly and throwing at the walls whatever he could see, which was difficult, since he was shaking himself around so much and his hair was in his view. A few chairs smashed against the wall, making dents in it. He lept onto the wall, trying to kick it in. It only hurt him, and he fell backwards, his leg hurting painfully. Whipping and shaking his body about had loosened the fragile backbone, and it came loose, only adding to the pain. Thengise grew very afraid. Calad had reverted back into complete insanity. Finally, she cried out for the guards.

Hearing the calls and the loud crashing and splintering noises, the guards came running through the doors, armed with arrows. "Stand still, elf, or I shall send this arrow flying straight through your head!" The guard did not really mean it; he did not want to hurt his own kind. The second guard attempted to grab hold of Calad as he lifted up a small piece of furniture and threw it at the other guard who had threatened him with the arrow. The guard released the bowstring, sending the arrow through it and breaking it, only adding to the noise.

The guards now took out ropes, chains, and gags, and managed to grab a hold of Calad before he could send a tableleg crashing down on Thengise. One guard gagged Calad, ignoring the choking sounds and tying it tightly. The other guard tied Calad's hands firmly behind his back, tied up his legs, and then tore off his cloak and wrapped the cloak tightly around Calad's arms and waist to act as a straitjacket. Both Calad and the guards were covered in bruises and cuts, but the guards, having worn armor, had less damage.

One guard attatched the chains to one of Calad's already bound legs, and tied the other end of the chain to the leg of the bed, so that he could not move further. One guard, with green eyes, looked down with pity. Speaking to Calad, he said, "Sorry for chaining you up like this, but you are much too dangerous." The guards strode out, more vigilant now, and assumed the positions they had before.

Collette shivered in bitterness as she slipped a green cardigan over her nightdress and pattered quickly down the hall towards the sudden uproar.
A proper sleep? what such thing is this, i have never known..she cursed in her thoughts, and rushed through the open door, where Calad wriggled in his gags, and Thengise sat, wincing and feeling her muscles that had been crusehd by the peice of blunt wood.
"What happened?!" she excalimed, surveying the room in an array of tatters, those bound and bleeding. Before anyone could speak, Taraquamegil said softly "It would be best if you went back to your quarters"
Thengise looked up quietly.
"Hey!" collette said dangerously. "These are my friends! im not going ANYWHERE until i know what is happening!" she menaced. It seemed the healer sat and mused at her for a moment and replied "Your friends will be fine" he reassured her. He called a gaurd to him. "Please take mistress Took back to her quarters."
Collette mouthed wordlessly under her breath, but let herself be taken away.

Thengise watched silently as they pulled Collette out of the room. She turned to look at Calad, but could see nothing but hate in his eyes. She quickly turned to look out the window as she held back tears. She could not take it. It saddened her to see him in such a state. All tied up and bound. She began to sing an elven song as she looked out the window. It was of the stars, which she had noticed were much to his liking as to hers. As she continued to sing she stuck her hand forward and began to stroke his hair. Calad winced with both fear and anger. Yet her song was calming him down a bit.

((Yes, welcome back suicidal elf chick! It has been slightly dull without you, and I thought that you had abandoned the RPG at first.. but anyway, welcome back!))

Calad lay, unable to move anything, not even his fingers. Slowly, he regained his temporary sanity upon hearing the song of Thengise. The light flickered constantly, and there was a sad look in his eyes. He opened his mouth to speak, but then the fabric wrapped tightly around it stopped him from doing so. Now calm, he felt all of the cuts and bruises and injuries stinging dully, and his empty stomach aching. Managing to lift his head, he looked at Thengise and watched her sing.

The waxing moon was a golden half-circle in the lightening sky. It was almost morning, and Calad was exhausted. He half-closed his eyes, although he did not appear to be sleeping, and was wide alert, real life was mingled with elven dreams - but some were orkish.

((Oh, and by the way, Collette, the healer had left long ago and will be back in the morning.))

Kalia ran to the room where Calad had been tied in, too late to see anything. She turned to Thengise.
"What happened here?" she demanded, looking at the trashed room as Thengise explained. She sighed and looked sadly at Calad. "Please, Calad, we're trying to help you. Tomorrow, please cooperate with the doctor. I promise that if they hurt you, they will have heck to pay."

Calad looked up, recognizing the voice, and glared at the faerie. He gazed dreamily at the window, watching the sun rise and the stars fade away. It was now early morning, and a few birds twittered gaily in their perches. He could also hear singing voices, and squirmed about uncomfortably in his heavy chains and ropes. Soon Kalia and Thengise left, Thengise leaving last. More voices could be heard at the door, and soon Taralquamegil walked in again.

The healer surveyed the room, also noting how Calad was tied up. Before entering, the guards had told him of what had happened that night, and that made Taralquamegil more determined to heal him. He drifted over and sat next to Calad on the bed. Calad looked up angrily at him. Taralquamegil spoke, breaking the silence. "Good-morn, my friend." He continued. "The guards had told me of the incident last night. Why did you do that?" Knowing that Calad could not speak with the gag on, he reached towards Calad's head, carefully ungagging him.

Calad said nothing, and licked his lips, glad that the gag was off. Taralquamegil said, "Silence? Is that it?"

Collette slept until the late afternoon. She awoke and wandered down the hall in the the dining banquet where she was harrassed by elves holding many types of food in their hands.
She grabbed from their plates as much as she could hold in her coat pockets and hands and scurried away.
Sauntering outside, she was really wandering the halls of time, lamenting the beginnings of this quest, worrying about what was to come, and what of their future? Where would Calad go once he remembered who he was? Marry Thengise mayhaps, she thought smiling. Or what if he was already married? If he already had a family of his own that may be hoping in misereble vain for his return?
Thengise of course, would return to Mirkwood and spend time with her father once more...The faeries would go on doing whatever faeries do...And she herself was destined to Bree to live in some Inn; IF you had the money (which she didnt)
She blinked up and reallized she had eaten all of her food. Frowning and muttering she walked back inside to get more.

She had never told them the reason why exactly she had been driven from there, ahigh-priced death warrant on her hide. She had barely escaped...
She shook ehrself mentally. That was not to interfere with her job. "Im fine" she said with a short smile. "How is Calad?"

Taralquamegil looked a bit dissapointed now, and perhaps a little frustrated. Calad sat there on the bed, all bound up and tied so tightly that you could see just a few flecks of copper-red blood appearing through his white clothing onto the flaxen ropes. The light blue woolen cloak absorbed some of it. The healer stood up, and strode towards the other elf. He sat down next to him on the bed. "I shall have a mature conversation with you, then," he sighed. It sounded slightly fake. "Perhaps then you will be so bored that you will have to explain." He said the last part jokingly, but Calad glowered at him, not really getting the jest.

The sun flowed steadily into the room like a river of light. Anor, the fruit of Laurelin, shone in front of the window. However, Calad and Taralquamegil were in a shady part of the room which the Sun did not reach. The elves gave off a glow of their own, so it did not seem as dark. Taralquamegil's azure eyes were filled with patience, the opposite of Calad's treebark-colored eyes that were fierce and impatient, but the psychotic elf sat still. The healer spoke again in attempt to start conversation. "You had told me all about your life, and it is terrible indeed. But you should not let it ruin your whole life. It was very frightening, I am sure of that, but you must not dwell in the past. The world is changing, and not a single elf likes it, but they must get used to it; you must get used to the present, and perhaps look towards the future. Do you understand? Are you listening?"

Calad slowly nodded. He really was listening, this time, but he was distracted by the tight ropes. The healer spoke once more, noticing the elf squirming and making small sounds of displeasure. "Your ropes look very discomforting. If you promise not to go mad again, I shall unbound you." Calad nodded once, bobbing his head up and down. Taralquamegil reached towards him with a slender hand, pulling the cloak off, untying the ropes, and casting them into a careless pile in the opposite corner. However, the chains would be removed later, for only the guards had the keys. The healer would ask them to remove it once he left.

Sorell lay on his bed, remembering Nayru. He suddenly recalled how she had said that the door was stuck in one room. He got up and padded, barefooted, to the door opposite.
Sorell turned the handle and pushed. It opened. Kalia's room, obviously. The next room was open, and the next. He went to the other side- his room, and one other. Slowly reaching out a hand, he placed it on the handle, and turned. It was stuck.
Sorell lit up his palm with fire and shot a ball at the frosty window. It melted.
Inside, Amyn scowled and leapt for the window on the other side of the room. She hadn't thought of that, dan it.

KAlia walked slowly towards her room, thinking. Ever since they had arrived at Imladris, everyone had gotten moody. She looked up as she realized her door was open and closed it, deciding to go talk to Sorrell. She had no idea where Amyn or Nayru were, after all, so might as well talk to him. She knocked on the door and stuck her head into his room, hearing and seeing nothing. She shrugged, withdrew her head from the doorway, and turned. As she walked back to her own room, her eyes caught on the door Sorrell had burned open, and her curiousity got the better of her. She crept over to the door and listened for any sounds. Satisfied that she couldn't hear anything, she snuck in and looked around.

Hearing Kalia enter, Sorell whirled around, wincing from some injuries which still had not healed. He approached Kalia slowly.
"Nayru isn't here." he whispered.
"So what?" asked Kalia, puzzled.
"So Amyn was here. And she's gone." Sorell continued, his silver eyes feeling like they were burning into Kalia's own. She stepped forward and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You're not making sense." she frowned. Sorell lifted his head to the ceiling and smiled, his eyes now closed. He resumed his staring position.
"So Amyn is out there" he waved a hand at the windows "in full view of the guards!"
Kalia gasped and ran to the window.

Kalia ran to the winodw, searching for signs of Amyn in the sky.
"What is she doing? She knows, or should know, not to fly out in plain daylight! Many people don't believe in faeries and would shoot them down! Look at me," she said, pointing to her arm and leg where she had been hit so long ago. "I didn't get so warm a welcome."
Sighing, Kalia turned and faced Sorell. She walked over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder once again.
"I think it's best to go look for her. Want to come? You don't have to, you should rest. But you can come. If you want, that is."

Finally, they spotted, down in a rocky valley, a dancing spot of flame- Amyn and a warning beacon. Sorell pinned his arms to his sides and with Kalia by his side, they rocketed down to their friend.

Calad was glad to be unbound. He didn't mind the blood all over his crisp, white robes though. Soon they set off to business, for the sun was climbing up higher into the sky until it was afternoon and the merry elves of Rivendell were going about their business. Taralquamegil glanced through the window, then back at Calad. "We shall continue," he said. "A few more questions. Do you remember your name? Your family? Where did you come from?"

Calad looked down as he asked, not knowing which question to answer first or most of the answers to the question. He mumbled, "Came from Mirkwood.."

Taralquamegil replied, "Ah, Greenwood the Great? Do you know of any family that live there?"

Calad mumbled, even more softly, "Not really..." Taralquamegil reached forward, touching Calad's cheek gently and pushing it up. The elf jerked his face away, feeling tears of exhaustion and frustration, long welling up. When will he stop? thought Calad. Instead of keeping it in his mind, he murmured, "When will he stop..."

Of course, Taralquamegil heard that, and assumed that the other elf was referring to him. "I shall not stop until you are healed," he retorted. "The more you cooperate, the quicker I can leave you alone. Now, you mentioned living in Greenwood. But you do not know of your family? Perhaps I may accompany you to a trip there, until you recognize someone." Calad perked up a little, knowing that he would probably go home, to his small wooden hut in the forest. But his face didn't change.

Meanwhile, outside, the guards still stood watch. So far there were no loud noises or pounding, but they heard noises from other matters. The two dark-haired elven guards hesitated; they were supposed to guard the room and only the room in case something went wrong. The elf on the right, closest to the noise from the faeries and other guards, said, "Perhaps we should aid them, Gurtharas?"

The other guard shook his head. "Nay, Luinfileg, they can handle it themselves. We have our own job to tend to, no matter how dull it may be." He grinned slightly, then went back to silence.

>*claps hands like a 5 yr old* Yeah, good idea!<

Kalia followed suit and dove to Amyn. She landed gracefully with Sorell next to her and stood, her hands on her hips.

"What are you doing, following us like that?" she asked, giving Amyn a slight glare.

Before she could answer, all three were seized by rough hands, and before anyone could do anything, bags were over their heads and they had been tied up. Kalia screamed as the three were roughly picked up or dragged to where ever they were being taken. Kalia, who was being dragged, was knocked unconscious as her head struck a large rock.

>*starts grinning inanely and clapping hands* good! good! more more more! again!<

Sorell tried to wriggle away, but the arms of their attackers were far too strong, and he was still weak. He lay still, tensing his body, in the hope that it would make him more difficult to drag. He could hear Amyn cursing with a mouth to shame a brigand.
If he could get one hand free he could burn the bag, but both hands were twisted, excrutiatingly painfully behind his back. His mouth was near the arm of one man, so he could lean forward and bite him. Sorell wriggled his head forward, inch by inch, then clamped his teeth down on the man's arm hard.
He yelled, and Sorell was thrown to the floor. He immediatly tried to get up and run off, but one huge, heavy boot came down on his ankle. He heard a snap like a gunshot, then incredible pain came and he almost blacked out. Before he could, the man swung him up on his shoulder, and Sorell went back to thinking up a plan for their escape.

Nayru wakes with a jolt, and starts to gather her things. She jumped up and flew outward toward a valley.

At sunset, she sees men with big sakes and tries to get to them.

"I wander who that is?" She flies within ten feet of them and feels something grab her ankle, and she is pulled to the ground.

"Get off of me!! Leave me alone!" She hears Sorell yell slightly, and she wringls and kicks the man.

"Let GO!" She feels a sharp pain in her neck, and is knocked unconcious.

Kalia said up with a groan, hearing Nayru scream. She shook her head, rubbed where she had hit it, and kicked at the man dragging her by her leg.

"Get off me!" she yelled, rising into the air. She flew back down at the men, pelting them with little rocks she had been saving. Why, she had no idea. ^.^

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood
10-11-2002, 11:53 PM
Thengise decided to go walking in the woods while she waited for the healer to finish his conversation with Calad. She looked to a small waterfall. It was beautiful and reminded her of her home. She sat on a rock by the waterfall and listened to the soft pounding of the water. She looked at the small lake which came forth from the waterfall and saw her reflection. Her head jolted up as she heard loud screams coming from the forest.

She ran in the direction of the piercing screams to see what was going on. As she approached the elves she stopped quietly behind a tree. She took a peak and saw some big bags being dragged by the elves. A few seconds later she noticed that the objects in the bags were moving. She gasped as she heard her faery friends' cries for help coming from the bags.

"What do you think you are doing?"Thengise asked the elves as she stepped forward from behind the tree. "We were just taking these flying creatures to the cells were they can do no harm, my lady,"one of the elves spoke up. "They are no harm to us and are in fact my friends. Let them go,"Thengise said softly trying to maintain her patience. The elves looked at each other trying to decide what to do. Finally one nodded and they dropped the bags and faeries with a loud thud.

Sorell sat up and yanked the bag from his head, taking big gasps of fresh air. He pulled the right boot off to look at his ankle, and was horrified to see it, bruised and swolllen. He tried to get up, but his ankle wobbled and gave way.

"My- my ankle. Hurts." Sorell whispered. He pulled away from Kalia and sat down heavily. He huddled up in a little ball and closed his eyes. He was tired and confused, he just wanted to be away, home at Mirkwood.
Kalia heard small whipers coming from her friend, and leant over to pull back the curtain of long red hair that obscured his face.
Sorell was crying! In all the time- and over 1000 years is a long time- that she had known Sorell, he had only cried once, and that was in his room with the door locked. Now here he was, sitting on a mountain top in full view of everyone and sobbing like his heart would break.

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood
10-13-2002, 07:12 PM
Thengise looked sadly over at Sorell. She walked over to him to him and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. She knelt down beside him and whispered an elven chant in his ear to soothe his pain. "You will be alright,"she ended. She looked up at the elves who were just staring. "Come and help me take these faeries to Elrond. Take good care not to hurt them,"she instructed as the elves slowly lifted Sorell, Kalia, Nayru, and Amyn.

Nayru jumped out of the Elves grasp and says, "I'll be all right. I can walk. It's my neck that hurts, not my legs."

Nayru walks slowly next to the man that carried Sorrell and strokes Sorell's hair softly and coos in Fae: "It'll be all right Sorell. Astril. We'll see Mirkwood again. Don't you worry."

Sorell shook her hand off his head, and curled up further. The tears had stopped, but the pain was there. He could not blot out the picture of Mirkwood, with its trees glistening in the eve light, the moon wafting high above their branches, the soft twilight song of the faeries as they darted around and in & out of the dense canopies, in impulsive games of chase. The forest floor was wet and dewy, a strange aromatic smoke lifting and blowing lazily over it, and the dry, fallen leaves thick on the bluey grass.
Sorell whimpered from homesickness and Nayru's hand came back onto his head. Although it wasn't excatly welcome, he didn't shake it off. At long last, he felt himself being placed on a soft bed, and he fell asleep, into an uneasy sleep in which a picture of his home vanished into smoke and dust. He unconciously grabbed at the air to keep some to him, but his slender fingers closed over nothing. He twisted and turned, the uncomfortable sensation of being watched always there, and his hot, feverish brow felt on fire.

Nayru rubs his head for a little longer, then he rolls over in the elves' hands, and she lowers her hand and goes up to Thengise.

"Thank you for coming to help us. Those elves were really hurting us. They did something to my neck so that I can barely stand it. And poor Sorell, they hurt him really badly. He won't even let me talk to him, and that's odd. He would listen to me talk for an age if need be. Some Elves just really disgrace that wonderful creation. My father's mother was an elf, and I loved her dearly the little time I knew her. But those Elves ashame the whole race."

She looks at Thengise sadly and then walks back to Sorell and rubs his hair again, and looks to the sky.

Days flew faster than Smaug in Rivendell.Collette learned later that in her homesick obliviousness she had neglected to help her friends. She vowed never to go off and feel sorry for herself when there were others to be helped again.
In an effort to apologize for her behavior, as well as recooperate back to her old cheery self, she picked flowers for her tormented friends.
A large bundle of wild Nimprodel and Elanor flowers and a cookie she brought to each faerie coloring their sick rooms with silvery blues, purples and riots of orange, red and pink. Hues of friendship and love streaked their walls and put them a bit higher spirits for days.
To Calad she picked a particularly fresh and bright bouquet, with a particularly large and sweet cookie to help him with his pains.
Even Calad seemed lightly touched and even stopped to sniff the aroma of the flowers that wafted and filled the room before giving her a low, half-hearted growl.
She left Calad's room later that evening, contemplating a question that deeply scraped away at her mind. She so dealy longed to ask the healer "Can I help?"
But she feared that all she was required for now was comfort and perhaps a laugh or two. But still, she would ask.

<<I know i powergamed. I will change anything if anyone is bothered!>>

'Twas another day and another fine day for a session of healing. Taralquamegil strode once more into the chamber. Before he came in, the room has been cleaned up from all of the mayhem that Calad had caused a couple nights earlier. His roving eyes couldn't help but soften at the sight of the flowers; a beautiful thing in the midst of the plain whiteness of the room. Calad was sitting upon a chair, a new one to replace the shattered and splintered one. He was hunched over, as he always was after the accident on the tree-top, and staring dully at a piece of parchment on the desk.

The healer stepped up next to Calad's left side, looking over his shoulders at the spidery runes, Tengwar to be exact, printed in ink on it. Taralquamegil was an elf of healing, not one of writing and learning, and could not make out the writing. His voice was a bell ringing softly over the peaceful silence. "What is that you are looking at? Come now, we will continue. Did you rest well in this Last Homely House?"

Calad stood up stiffly, twisting his head so that his eyes met with the healer's.

Just then a hobbit-lass came in, her bare feet pitter-pattering on the floor. It was Collette, to be exact. She looked a bit nervous. Calad immediately set his gaze upon the small creature that he recognized. Taralquamegil did not know her, but looked gently upon her as to calm her down. ".. Can I help? Please?" pleaded the halfling.

Taralquamegil had an amused smile curving on his lips. After a brief second, he replied in his usual quiet voice, like wind in the trees, "Yes, of course. Take caution. It seems that he knows you, as well. Who are you?"

(( I apologize for powergaming, as well. And ColletteTook, your vocabulary is quite interesting and wonderful to read. I am glad of that, keep it up! ))

Collette drew herself up regally and prepared to announce that she was part of the company that had escorted him to this acclaimed sanctuary (and Collette believed it), but instead she mustered her wits and bit her prideful tongue and replied "Collette Took.A friend."
Simple and hobbit-like.
The healer looked down to her as if to read her thoughts, for there were many flying around her in such a state of anxiousness.
But at last, he nodded curtly, a hint of a smile playing his face with an emotion unknown.
Collette trounced along behind the elves in a gleeful, victorious rush. To be helping, finally doing more than what others thought her to be capable of, and at the same time be helping someone who had grown near and dear to them all, was one of the greatest rewards she would ever re-account in her lifetime.

<<How very kind and courteous of you fifth! I told you i had been puttering about in dictionaries!>>

It was pitch black when Sorell woke. He rose from his bed and went to the window. The fever had passed, but his head still pounded. He had no idea of the day or time.
Sorell pulled up the sash window, and hooked one leg out. Then he grasped the top of the window and swung the other leg out, till he was sitting on the windowledge. He let go, and dropped swiftly until he let out his wings and flew.
He knew it was dangerous, but he stayed close to the buildings, and once peeped into Nayru's window. She was curled on the bed, fast asleep. Suddenly, Sorell recalled how she had stroked his head when he was ill, and how sad she must have been, because really she loved him like a brother.
He silently dropped from the window and flew quickly to the garden, the rose bushes. Nayru liked...what was it? White roses. Yes. He gathered a bundle, ignoring the scratches on his fingers, and took them to his room. The window was left open, so he hovered inside just long enough to grab some pretty paper that had been lying around in his bag for some time. He flew out, round to Thengise's room (she was bound to have what he wanted) and looked in. The window was open, and there was a dark lump in the bed. He looked on the dressing table, and reached out his arm to grab- yes, that's what he wanted. A ribbon.
Working outside, he wrapped the stems in the paper, secured it with the ribbon, and flew back to Nayru. She was still fast asleep- he even poked her gently, and she rolled over and murmered something. He dropped the flowers on her bedside table, then flew out, smiling a little.
When he got back to bed, it was daybreak already.

Kalia sat up in her bed. She stood and walked to the window, pulling open the shades.

"Daybreak all ready?" she murmured. She had stayed up all night, not being able to sleep. She sighed and wandered back to her bed. Her wings popped out and she stood and walked to the opposite wall. Smiling, Kalia took off, running to her bed, and at three feet away from it, she took off into the air and made a loop, swerving and steering herself under her blanket. She smiled. "That was fun," and her eyes closed.

Nayru awoke with the morning sun in her eyes, and she rolls over, seeing the White Roses on her table.

"Sorell." She said with a smile.

She opened her wings and flew out the small window, and saw Sorell sitting by his window, looking sleepy.

"Thank you Sorell. I loved the White Roses." She lightly pecked his cheek with a kiss, and she slowly walked to the window with a smile on her face, looking at the bright day.

Sorell blushed. He went and stood next to Nayru.
"Well, I just wanted to say thanks. For everything. But please, could you stop kissing me? You're like my little sister. I want to protect you, and we are such close friends that I do love you, but not really in that way." He looked at Nayru, who smiled gently.
"But if you can't kiss your friends, who can you kiss?" she said.
Sorell sighed, and rested his head in his hands.
"Just don't. My- my mother- well, I don't remember much of her but I do know she always used to kiss me on my cheek, or forehead, or nose. Just like you. And although I love my mother, she's dead, and nothing will change that. So for me, the best thing to do is remember in my head, not out loud. Then maybe the pain will go."
He put his hand on Nayru's shoulder and let out his wings, hovering up and over the balcony.
"I'm sorry." He kissed Nayru on the top of her head and flew off.
Sorell sat up on the roof, trying to forget what had just happened. He suddenly realised it was morning, and flew down to the dining room to get some breakfast.

Nayru smilied and watched Sorell fly away, and she said to herself, as if in a prayer: "So it will be. I will always love you like a brother Sorell. I know you mother is watching you, guiding you, along with mine. They watch over us both. They help us make our decisions. Thank you Sorell, for giving me the love of a brother I have never had. Thank you for everything. My Eru Bless you."

She outstreched her wings, and flew into a busling dining hall for breakfast.

For the days ahead, Collette was seen often near or in Calad's room, anally fluffing pillows, fetching oddments of any sort for either the healer or Calad himself.
She also stayed with him when he had no one to talk to, when he was alone, which was often for the faeries and Thengise were off on their own buisness now.
Many of the times, she would describe to him the Shire, it's rolling green hills dotted with round little doors, and the cheery folk that lived inside them.
He seemed to enjoy it, for the most part he dropped off to sleep when it was late in the night.

The Fifth

The days that passed by in Rivendell soon became weeks. Taralquamegil the healer did everything he could to help Calad, along with Collette, but nothing really seemed to work, althugh Taralquamegil gained the elf's trust. At last, as Calad grew weary of the daily healing sessions without or barely any progress, even the healer came to give up hope. "Spirits are easily changed, but they are hard to change back into what they were," Taralquamegil once said to Calad as he stubbornly refused help.

Then one day, a snow-covered morn, to be exact, an amazing thing happened. It was at first just an average morning, with the golden sun climbing up the sky and shining proudly above the Valley, making the white snow glitter and dance. The sky was azure, but traces of grey clouds from the snow-fall were still loitering and annoying the sun.

Calad sat in his room, at first brooding, then gradually pondering, then into deep thought. A clump of snow fell out from the full-handed naked tree outside his window. Then something clicked into his mind. The healing had worked, even though to others it had not. He quickly stood up. All memories were at first leaking into his mind, small trickles, then a stream, then a river of memories flowed in. Calad's eyes widened in surprise. Everything had come back, after all. Memories of childhood sprang up; his father, mother, his first horse, practicing the bow and arrow with his father, all of that. He also remembered his name.

Swollen with happiness, Calad burst out of the house, not caring about snow that fell from the roof. Collette was just about to open the door, but luckily, heard his excitement and got out of the way before Calad could hit the door in her face. The hobbit blinked as she saw Calad smile for the first time. "I remember!" Calad exclaimed loudly.

"Remember? What?" asked Collette.
"I remember... everything! Even my name!"
"And what is that?" she asked curiously.
"..Gwaiglir... Wind-Song..." Calad calmed for a moment, then danced off to tell everyone else.

That evening, he could now join the other Elves in joyous song, and Calad's voice rang the loudest. The light in his eyes was perpetual now as he laughed.

"A fluttering wing of blue
brings day anew.
How glad the Sun is,
to reclaim what is His!
The sky is kept light
and eager in sight.

O distant blue,
the Sun is for you.

O distant blue,
you stand beyond any hue.

In a sky of might
the blue slows in its flight,
to no other place,
and towards the empty space.

O distant blue,
the Sun is for you.

O distant blue,
come closer too.

A ring of bells,
a throng of sea-shells,
and foam seeps into the sand
as if lifted by a giant Hand,
the hand of the wave;
Oh! How much the waters gave!

A distant blue
stands anew.

A distant blue
has now flew.

The shade of night descends
as the Blue leaves the hands
of golden friends,
O how dark are the lands!
Black has taken the skies
for Blue now flies,
and said Black to Blue,
'And the sky belongs to me too.'"

Collette cried that night and danced for joy around Gwaiglir.
"I un-name you! No longer are you Calad, for you have found yourself and I am so very happy! Lo! Songs will be written in your honor, elf of many names" she had sobbed happily.
He was a new person,no longer the hideous creature that was Snaga, sprung away from the terrifying being that was Calad, but evermore, Gwaiglir, an elf of Mirkwood who had won the love of many.
Rejoicing and festivities in Gwaiglir's name lasted days, songs and merriment to follow each meal, each sunrise and sunset, and later that week Collette was found by Gwaiglir, packing her things with a weak little smile upon her face.
"My time is over, my energy is spent, and no longer are my services needed" she explained, without him having to inquire her.
" I wish all the luck I can bring your soul, for you have become a brother to me, Gwaiglir. May life be loved by you as long as your soul will allow." She folded into his hands, her locket with the engravings of her name. "Do not forget me Gwaiglir, as I could not forget you ever, take care of Thengise as she took care of you and give her my most sincere wishes, for I cannot bare to part with her in person" and with that she gave him a tight hug about the middle, and left Rivendell to where, she had no idea. It was said by many she wandered until her untimely death, of her own blunder (which was believeable), said by others' that she was taken arrest again in the Shire and penalized with her warrant, and said by others she settled down and made her own family, the one I should hope to believe is true, but no one knows.

Kalia strode over to Gwaiglir, her pack in hand. She clapped a hand on his shoulder, and smiled.

"Well, it seems to me like you no longer need me around, so I'm going back to Ithilien. >Wow, I remember!< If ever you need anything, or just want to see an old friend, just call and I'll come back, ok?" Thengise was happier than ever to see Calad or should I say Gwaiglir back to his own state. He really was all she had seen him to be under what had been his anger and sadness. Now he sang with the elves often and conversed much with them. Though at times she could see that he missed his home and family. Thengise had been very saddened at hearing of Collette's departure. "May your feet lead you to your love,"she whispered as she looked out the window.

She turned quietly and went forth into Gwaiglir's room. "Dear elf, I must leave now. I've been away from home far too long and I see that so have you. If you wish to go home then come now to Mirkwood with me and go once more to see your family,"she said softly with her small pack at hand.

Sorell wandered along the corridors of Rivendell, taking in every scene. Calad was well, they would be going home soon. Sorell rested his elbows on a windowsill and looked out, the wind breezing through his hair. He reflected on the journey.
He had not been that important; they probably would have done quicker without him. Still it had been fun. He ran over it in his head, pausing at his favourite times. Cartwheeling through the sky with Nayru and Kalia, talking to Nayru, doing supposed trick riding to impress Collette.
Sorell looked at the courtyard, the summer sun still beaming. The leaves were starting to drift down from the trees and one landed in his hair. He picked it out and let it flutter away.
It was nature. Sorell was happy.

Nayru stood on the main balcony of the castle, staring into the setting sun. She sighed deeply, and recalled all of the journey's memories: good and bad. Sorell walked up and stood next to her silently.

She turned around and said to him softly, "Sorell, I have to leave now. We are not needed here anymore. Calad is healed. Our business is done. Maybe our paths will cross again someday. Maybe we will meet Kalia, Calad, Thengise and even Collette again. I now you don't want to come and be bothered by little aggravating Nayru anymore..."

(OoC- Alas, the story is about to close for me as well. *sob*)

And so Calad decided to join Thengise and travel back to his home, Mirkwood. The rooms of the guests were swiftly cleaned up, and any belongings packed up and tied onto the group of ponies and horses. As Gwaiglir mounted a horse, a fine bay horse given to him by Elrond, and waited for Thengise. She joined him on her own steed, and soon they galloped across the bridge, past the Fords, and to the direction of the great Forest. The Faeries lingered a while, then soon left to their own homes.

A few months had passed, and yet Gwaiglir felt that a hundred years had gone by since the group first found him, in the darkness of the night, up in a tree, then calling a certain Faerie an 'oliphaunt'. He thought to himself as he rode, the horse's hooves beating against the dirt road.

For days they rode, and soon the forest's tall trees loomed over their heads. Gwaiglir remembered this place; it was his home. The sights and smells of the woods were familiar and sweet, and soon they arrived at the Elven-King's halls. It was then that Gwaiglir found out about Thengise's royalty, and he never treated her the same ever since. The two indeed did fall in love, eventually marrying; but that is a whole different story.

And so one day, he sat on a moss-covered stone, looking at the sky just hardly peeping through the thick layers of leaves, and sung.

O Star Leaf,
go calmly upon your leave,
may you never fall
from the Tree
that keeps you in your sky.

A restless sway
brings your fears away,
O Star Leaf dear
Go with Moon Leaf near
upon your Tree to-night.

O Star Leaf,
as wolves stand below,
the Tree shall bend
and yet grow
for they stray forever so.

Fall shall come
and fate is fate,
you fall from Tree
to land on a spiked gate,
as wolves wait with glee.

O Star Leaf,
do not fear.
The Tree shall keep you dear.
Moon leaves will shine for you
For a tail's swing brings day anew.

From Snaga to Gwaiglir, here ends the story of an Elf.

((It is the end for me, as well. All of you were very good roleplayers, and there were memorable times. At first this was in danger of becoming a 'chat RPG', but you have improved much! I hope to roleplay with you once more, and may the story of Calad never be forgotten, and never to be covered in dust and cob-webs.))

>Why thank you Fifth. I'm sure I speak for all when I say I was truly touched by that. I thought I had wrapped up Sorell, but now Arwen has posted it seems not.<
Sorell turned to Nayru and to her immense surprise, put his arms round her and hugged her tightly. A wave of warmth flooded through them.
"Sweet Nayru, I would never be tired of you. Come, let us fly through this place once more." They spread their wings and flew out through the window and high into the air.
They were happy.
>Ok, now I've wrapped up my character, so Arwen, please do not do another contrasting post! Love to you all, and hope we meet again sooon. Halbereth XXX<

Nayru landed, and wiped her face free of tears.

"Goodbye Sorell. Maybe we will meet again." She hugged him back, and gathered her things and her horse.

With one last look at Rivendell, she rode of into the darkening sky.

(OoC- *waah* It's over! Thank you all for a great RP! Maybe we should consider asking about putting this into the Elvenhome??? Bye you all, and maybe, just maybe, our pathes will cross again. I love you all. Bye!)

Great job guys! We'd be glad to store this thread and its predecessor in Elvenhome if you wish. Do you want this thread closed so no one else posts here?

Everyone, start thinking about joining new games or starting your own! A thumbnail of the new forum structure will be posted in Hobbiton shortly.

Yes, Mithadan, this RPG has ended. It may be closed and moved to Elvenhome, as well as the first portion of the RPG.

Very well. I will do so. Congratulations again! Out of the hundreds of RPGs from the old Freestyle room, this is the third or forth to actually be completed. What's next for you guys?

There are three new games revving up in The Shire that will be looking for players. Another is on the launch pad in Rohan. We'd love to see some new Rohan level proposals as well. The new proposal form isn't ready yet, but you can do one (or more) the old way. Feel free to call upon me for help. And if any of you have Chasm access, there is a Rohan ("level 2") thread with some good RPG ideas as well. One of them is mine. If anyone wants to run it, I'd be glad to pass along my plot ideas.

Really? Only three or four were completed? Well, everyone, pat yourselves on the back for a good job!

I'll look forward to any other RPGs, Mithadan! Ja ne!
