i have a little question to the lore-masters ;). is it true that in the "extended" edition of "Smith..." Nell's (his wife) hair colour was mentioned?

I have the extended edition of "Smith", and I can't find any reference at all to Nell's appearance, nor that of any of the other characters.

I'm sure we've discussed this in the past; it was published in 2005. Here's one thread that mentions it: New Tolkien books (http://www.forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=11976&page=1&pp=40). It's edited by Verlyn Flieger and has new material, both by Tolkien himself and by her, including photocopies of some of Tolkien's original typed pages. The hardback is not cheap, but all those who have bought it so far (including myself) say it's worth it.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's a 'must-have'. The new material puts a completely different spin on things and if you're thinking of buying Smith for the first time, spend a few pounds more and get the latest edition. :)
