Estanesse 11-02-2005 02:03 PM

Do u mean the ring of Barahir??

mormegil 11-02-2005 02:36 PM

Cookieman hasn't been around since Sept and this question is 4 months old I think you could just take the thread and ask a question. :)

Estanesse 11-03-2005 11:05 AM

What is the name of the defence created by Morgoth against Orome?

Valier 12-20-2005 12:50 AM

Do you mean ungoliants darkness or maybe mordor?

Telchar 12-20-2005 04:04 AM

Could be: Hithaeglir - Misty Mountains, raised by Melkor to hinder the riding of Oromë...

Estanesse 04-03-2006 06:32 AM

Yes that’s the answer i was looking for please proceed Telchar

Telchar 04-03-2006 06:47 AM

Among wizards, one rode off as if the Nine were after him, and another rode like a gale... who were they?

JennyHallu 04-03-2006 06:57 AM

Radagast and Gandalf, respectively. I think.

Telchar 04-03-2006 07:06 AM

right you are... :)

Gil-Galad 04-23-2007 04:43 PM

time to bring this thread back to life...

Q: Who Were the Dwarves fighting during the War of the Ring?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-24-2007 03:55 AM

Easterlings, who had been sent north to Dale.

Gil-Galad 04-24-2007 07:01 AM

But of course Master Eomer, your turn

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-24-2007 07:14 AM

Thank you, good Elvenking.

Who was Wandlimb?

Gil-Galad 04-24-2007 07:16 AM

I am pretty sure he was one of the Ents of Fangorn...

Thinlómien 04-24-2007 07:27 AM

She was an entwife and the beloved of Treebeard.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-24-2007 08:54 AM

Lommy is correct. :)

Thinlómien 04-25-2007 01:58 AM

How did Fingon die?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-25-2007 02:45 AM

One of the more horrific parts of the story, for me. He was slain by Gothmog, and hacked and battered into the ground.

Thinlómien 04-25-2007 03:02 AM

Right you are, of course. :)

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-25-2007 03:52 AM

Who is the Hewer of Caves?

Legate of Amon Lanc 04-25-2007 04:00 AM

You mean Finrod Felagund?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 04-25-2007 04:53 AM

That would be right!

Legate of Amon Lanc 04-25-2007 06:02 AM

Who was wearing blue hoods, apart from the Blue wizards?

Dimturiel 04-25-2007 11:46 AM

Fili and Kili, right?

Legate of Amon Lanc 04-25-2007 12:49 PM

Exactly. Your turn now.

Dimturiel 04-26-2007 12:07 PM

All right, so tell me when did Turambar and Niniel get married.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 05-03-2007 03:20 PM

I can't think of a year, but it was Midsummer.

Dimturiel 05-06-2007 08:50 AM

That's what I was looking for. Go on.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 05-06-2007 03:47 PM

Who was Hild?

Legate of Amon Lanc 05-06-2007 03:49 PM

You mean the mother of Fréalaf?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 05-06-2007 04:14 PM

Yes, Legate. But if you'd be so kind as to give one more sentence about the significance of Hild and Fréalaf, you may carry the thread. ;)

(Picky, eh? :D )

Legate of Amon Lanc 05-07-2007 04:48 AM

Like that she was Helm's sister? And the line from Hild (Fréalaf, later) was the one that continued the line of the kings.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 05-08-2007 09:12 AM

But of course. Please continue, my fiendish vampire ally. :)

Legate of Amon Lanc 05-09-2007 03:57 AM

Alright, O Wise Firthhyando... ;)

What about this, a little non-typical: If you were an owner of a tourism agency in the first millenium of the Third Age, what of the following cities would be surely the best choice to present in your catalogue, and why?

Choices: Bree, Calembel, Edoras, Tharbad, Umbar.

Once again: I want reasons as well.

Gil-Galad 05-09-2007 08:30 AM

Well Edoras was fairly New at the beginning of the Third Age... and it also has the Golden Hall recently made so that would defiantely bring tourism up

Legate of Amon Lanc 05-10-2007 03:32 AM

No, not Edoras. You caught into the trap, Gil, because Edoras didn't yet stand at the first millenium of Third Age. And the Golden Hall was finished by Eorl's son Brego in 2569. :)

Gil-Galad 05-10-2007 07:13 AM

Then i could say Umbar, i beleive it was still in Gondors hands and it was a growing port city

i must research on what calembel is

Legate of Amon Lanc 05-10-2007 07:20 AM

Then look at it first. But I want a good tip why, you know, the destination must have something special about it, so you'd have to pick the city with the really most, most, most attractive (for ME tourists) things in it, whatever it might be. Big city is nice as well, but it doesn't mean people would find it attractive. I suggest you try to imagine a slogan in the agency's catalogue. "Visit big city!" is certainly nothing much. If you live in Minas Tirith for example, you are in a big city as well.

Nerwen 12-15-2007 08:46 AM

Well, is it Calembel?

"Visit the chief town of Lamedon... close by the famous green fields of Lebennin... watch the sun set blood-red behind the Pinnath Gelin..." Something like that?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 08:49 AM

No, it is not Calembel... there is one location that really, ultimately beats the others in the eyes of an early-3rd-age Middle-Earthian...

You only have to figure out why it is (and of course which one it is) ;) And it is more than just blood-red sunset and beautiful fields with streams...
