Daeron.

Finwe 07-11-2003 09:09 AM

Right, your go!

Lindolirian 07-17-2003 04:40 PM

What were Mandos and Lorien called collectively?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-17-2003 07:36 PM

They are called the Feanturi: "Masters of Spirits".

Lindolirian 07-17-2003 07:42 PM

Sure thing!

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-18-2003 10:44 AM

Yeah! Okay, who did the sons of Bor kill in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad?

Lindolirian 07-18-2003 03:29 PM

The sons of Ulfang. (Ulfast and Ulwarth)

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-19-2003 06:03 PM

Correct! Your turn.

Lindolirian 07-25-2003 09:02 PM

What Elf hoped that "no man shall say that elven-words are lightly spoken"?

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-27-2003 03:01 AM

Beleg, as he set out on his quest to find the whereabouts of Turin.

Lindolirian 07-27-2003 04:31 PM

Right you are! Lead on, Gwaihir!

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-29-2003 02:57 AM

Thanks.

What was the name of the sword that was given to Beleg?

Diamond Green 07-29-2003 05:40 AM

Anglachel?

Legolas 02-10-2004 02:45 PM

Well Gwaihir is nowhere to be found, but 'Anglachel' was certainly the right answer.

Who offered Turin their knife as a gift at their parting? (Turin declined.)

Lindolirian 02-10-2004 03:14 PM

Sador Labadal.

Legolas 02-10-2004 07:33 PM

Yes! Go on.

Lindolirian 02-10-2004 07:39 PM

A hypothetical question:
If Avranc were in an archery contest what would his hit percentage most likely be?

Lindolirian 02-13-2004 02:51 PM

Not too hard is it?

...Anybody?

Finwe 02-13-2004 06:05 PM

It had to have been pretty good. Do we know any specific feats that he accomplished?

Lindolirian 02-13-2004 06:21 PM

Well, you're on the wrong track. It wasn't exactly a good record. In fact, it was downright bad. It is clearly explained in one story that he shot x amount of times and only hit a low percentage of them. I'm basing my hypothetical question off of those specific shots.
HINT: He was a Man, and the shot(s) that did find their mark killed another Man.

Finwe 02-13-2004 06:39 PM

Oh... right.....

Well... I know that Avranc was the one who killed Manthor in the Rebellion of Brethil, and I believe that he shot a total of two arrows at him, so wouldn't the percentage be 50%? The second shot was the one that killed him.

Lindolirian 02-13-2004 06:44 PM

Ah, you are on the right track now, but your numbers are a bit off... very, very close though. ;)

Finwe 02-13-2004 06:48 PM

Hmm... would it be 100%, since we don't know for sure if he shot that first arrow?

Lindolirian 02-13-2004 06:53 PM

Nope... If you can't find all of the instances of his shootings, check out Manthor's dying words at least. That should make it quite clear.

Finwe 02-15-2004 09:39 PM

25%?

Kath 02-16-2004 04:18 AM

30%

Gil-Galad 02-16-2004 09:57 AM

40-45%?

Lindolirian 02-16-2004 10:25 AM

C'mon folks... No random guessing. That won't get us anywhere. Please justify your answer.

Lindolirian, please could you start a new thread with your current question?

Thanks. :)

First Age Trivia II

Let's try to follow the standard trivia rules on this thread and keep it in the First Age.
A hypothetical question:
If Avranc were in an archery contest what would his hit percentage most likely be?

Tulkas the Mighty 02-18-2004 07:41 PM

He shot and missed Manthor when being driven out of the the Moot Ring, then missed once again hitting the gate post by Manthors head, and finally hit him when Manthor was on his way back from Morwen's funeral. 33.3333%

Lindolirian 02-18-2004 08:14 PM

Quote:

It is a poor archer that will miss his mark at the third aim.
-Manthor after he was hit by Avranc's third shot.

Good job Mr the Mighty especially on each instances of shootings!

Tulkas the Mighty 02-19-2004 05:40 PM

Who suffered from the great Laep of Beren?

Miriel 02-20-2004 01:12 PM

Curufin got grabbed by the throat and hurled backwards, so chiefly him.
His horse and Luthien both fell to the ground. But good actually came out of the leap for both of them, so I won't say they suffered from it.

Tulkas the Mighty 02-20-2004 09:47 PM

Yep, that was it

Miriel 02-25-2004 06:32 AM

What was the original name of Turin's sword Gurthang (before it was reforged), and what does that name mean?

Lindolirian 02-25-2004 02:24 PM

It was called Anglachel, Iron of the Flaming Star.

Miriel 03-01-2004 11:05 AM

Apologies for the delay. This is correct. :)

Lindolirian 03-02-2004 08:08 AM

Thank you!
What is the Sindarin name for Ossė?

NightKnight 03-03-2004 02:13 PM

Goth?
