I thought about guessing that, but I thought I remembered him saying "I feel it in my heart of hearts" in the book, and that the bones line was from the movie. Oh well.

Ruitha 05-06-2003 11:15 AM

Hi, thanks! My quote: (hopefully this will work... )

That is Bilbo concerning men and hobbits. And welcome to the downs Ruitha!

that the bones line was from the movie.
No it wasn't. What he said in the movie was...

Quote:

"I am old Gandalf. I know I don't look it, but I've begun to feel it in my heart.
But I'm pretty sure that he said heart of hearts in the book so where did the I feel it in my bones come from?

Here's what the book says in that part of the story...
Quote:

"I feel I need a holiday, a very long holiday, as I have told you before. Probably a permanent holiday: I don't expect I shall return. In fact, I don't mean to, and I have made all arrangements.
'I am old Gandalf. I don't look it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts. Well-preserved indeed!' he snorted. 'Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread. That can't be right. I need a change, or something.'
So that's not where it came from. I'm remembering a bones line too, but it wasn't there, and it might not have been Bilbo.

GaladrieloftheOlden 05-06-2003 08:00 PM

Then I guess I screwed up, and took it from the movie instead of book

No biggie. Just for future reference, book quotes only on this thread, k?

(but who knows, maybe somebody somewhere in FOTR says the bones line, so you can pretend you did it right

Okay It was only because I couldn't find my book, so I had to use the internet, and it said that was a book quote Sorry
