No lathspell you should not feel stupid, this isn't a well known quote. I don't think this will be much help.

---e t-ere are a--n- -- --- --n- t-at t-e --a--- ---- -ra- -a--, an- -ea-e --a-- ---e a-a-n. -et - -- n-t

Hmm, one or two words stand out, but it's still not clear. What about a P?

Oh, wait, I know it! It's Haldir, in FotR:

"Some there are among us who sing that the Shadow will draw back, and peace shall come again. Yet I do not believe that the world about us will ever again be as it was of old, or the light of the Sun as it was aforetime."

Faenaduial 03-10-2003 06:11 PM

Well played Elanor! Your turn.

It's Eowyn to Faramir in "the steward and the king"

Quote:

"No houses could be fairer, for those who desire to be healed. But I cannot lie in sloth, idle, caged. I looked for death in battle."

Elanor 03-12-2003 02:37 PM

That's the one. Well done!

What about an S?

And I know exactly what you mean about crosswords. I find it helps to copy down the spaces and try different letter combinations in the gaps. Not that I'm taking this too seriously or anything...

Estanesse 03-13-2003 03:55 PM

Think I found it
Is it
Quote:

The finest rockets ever seen
they burst in stars of blue and green
or after thunder golden showers
came falling like a rain of flowers

Guinevere 03-14-2003 03:27 AM

Correct, Estanesse! Your turn.

Estanesse 03-14-2003 09:50 AM

It's almost clear now, though I could not find the entire quote yet. I think a 'W' would do good.

I can't remember where this quote is in the book but is it:

Quote:

It is still winter, and we are far from the sea. Here the world is cold until the sudden spring, and we may yet have snow again.
