+ + GANDALF

What on Arda is he doing here? He should be out guiding the hand of the Free Peoples in the fight against Evil. Not lounging around on a desert island reality show trying to boost his media image.

Tsk!

And he doesn't pull his weight in the tasks.

And he's a goody-two-shoes.

Kuruharan 08-24-2006 05:24 PM

Seems I was mistaken. Evidently, Nogrod wants Gandalf to win.

Kath 08-24-2006 05:27 PM

++ GANDALF

I know I'm not a regular player, and have little reasoning for this old coot to be kicked off, other than he's a bit of an attention seeker and really could be a bit more help. Leaving the Dwarves when they need him most and sitting back and observing, leaping after a Balrog, that kind of thing.

However, my dear friend Skittles asked for this favour, and who am I to say no?

Bęthberry 08-24-2006 06:14 PM

Hama is still around? Hama? Is he basking in some of the glow which belongs to the Huorns? C'mon, it doesn't get any blander than this.

+ + Hama

Gil-Galad 08-24-2006 07:19 PM

++gandalf

two dragons are way more fun then a old smelly wizard

Macalaure 08-25-2006 02:17 AM

++Chrysophylax Dives

Two bandwaggons are way more fun than one bandwaggon.

Plus, we don't need two dragons.
Plus, we don't need minor works characters.
Plus, hey, we'll get Gandalf before the end anyway...

Firefoot 08-25-2006 05:24 AM

--Goldberry

Since once again, it's not working.

++Chrysophylax

Nothing really against him; it's just fun to see how long Gandalf will stick around...

mormegil 08-25-2006 05:31 AM

Firefoot,

I am convinced that you want Gandalf to win this thing. Am I correct? If so why Gandalf? He's kind of a prat!

Lalaith 08-25-2006 06:21 AM

++GANDALF

For reasons previously stated.

Volo 08-25-2006 06:53 AM

Voting the wrong dragon out? Gandalf should thank me for this...

--Smaug

++Chrysophylax Dives

Who do we vote out tomorrow? Exept Gandalf of course. Goldberry?

Hmmm, I see how it is now. Forming voting blocks and plotting out who should go and who should stay. Who should go obviously being minor works characters! And who are these people taking orders from? The tyrannical, Took-insulting madwizard and mafia don, Gandalf (who is orchestrating matters in the form of Nogrod, methinks :p). Surely those who don't actually want Gandalf to win must realize the dangerous bandwagon force that has arisen around him, and any vote that helps them only ensures the slippery slope towards Gandalf winning. The snowball effect, mark my words.

If you actually want Gandalf to win, go ahead and vote against the far more interesting dragon(s). By all means. But if you don't actually want old lathspell to win, now's the time to act upon it. It's a hard task to stand up to the big, popular, predictable and oh-so-boring names, but that's what makes it worthwhile!

Volo 08-25-2006 07:25 AM

Yes, I'm just a pawn. It is interesting to see how long Gandalf survives. And I do think that Gandalf is a much better character than most. I'd rather see Gandalf survive than Goldberry for example...

The Only Real Estel 08-25-2006 07:26 AM

++ Gandalf

Chrys out before Smaug? I never thought I'd see the day...

Suddenly Kuru & Morm's side looks more bearable... ;)

Estelyn Telcontar 08-25-2006 08:19 AM

++ Gandalf

Just because I'm a fan of the minor works and want to see some of those characters surviving...

Besides, Gandalf's confusing - are we talking about ...the White or ...the Grey here?

Glirdan 08-25-2006 08:30 AM

++Gandalf

Get rid of the nudist already!!

Tuor in Gondolin 08-25-2006 09:46 AM

And how would Eustace the Dragon (Narnia) have
fared in a face down with C. D.? Obviously Smaug
would slap either one around.

What? Is this WWF Smackdown? I thought it was Survivor, a witty game of clever positioning and argumentative fun.

Shall I have to entirely rethink all my strategies henceforth? Does Bethberry have to become Da Big Double B? Will Diamond have to become Di-Hard? Will we see Big Mac? Morm the Marauder? Will we need a PanHandler?

I don't think so . . .

:D

wilwarin538 08-25-2006 12:01 PM

Day 18 is now over!

Gandalf - 10
Chrysophylax Dives - 7

Gandalf the Wizard is the character voted off today.

Gandalf stood, and with one last uncloaking, to the discust (not the surprise) of all those present, he walked away proudly, with black squares covering certain places, since this is a family friendly site. ;)

Thus ends this day!

Remaining contestants:

From the Lord of the Rings Survivor
Gimli
Hama

From the Silmarillion Survivor
Elbereth

From the Hobbit Survivor
Smaug
Gloin
Durin

From the Second Age Survivor
Tar-Miriel
Celebrian
Thorondor

From the Minor Works Survivor
Chrysophylax Dives
Goldberry

***************************************

You may now start voting! :D

Meneltarmacil 08-25-2006 12:32 PM

Poor Gandalf, why did you have to be voted off?

Let me see here. We have two humans, one Vala, one Eagle, one Elf, two Dragons, one of whatever Goldberry is, and, oh dear, no less than THREE Dwarves. At least one of those Dwarves has got to go, so...

++Gloin

mormegil 08-25-2006 12:37 PM

Gimli has committed and offense so agregious that it really should be punished by death, the least we can do is evict him. What did he do you ask? Why he befriended and Elf and there is no greater crime in all of dwarven society than that.

++Gimli

++Gimli

In Dwarvin society yes. Therefore, I encourage all dwarves to take up your cause. :p

As it is, it looks like your trying to punish Gimli for trying to redress years of strife between the two races, a noble enough effort. Or in other words: You're promoting racism, morm. O_O

Now of course Gimli isn't perfect & there are probably many reasons why he should be voted off but surely not this one! :eek:

Therefore, since I'm with Menel more or less in his reasoning of evening up the scores:

++ Gloin

Being the son of Groin (inventor of the mithril cup) is a tough act to follow, but he's less deserving of a spot on the island than Gimli is.

Glirdan 08-25-2006 12:53 PM

++Gloin

He's boring, has no character really (except for starting fires, which, may I add, he and his brother failed miserably at!) and is far worse than Gimli.

The Saucepan Man 08-25-2006 01:08 PM

+ + TAR-MIRIEL

Who is she?

Who is she?

What is she doing here?

Rune Son of Bjarne 08-25-2006 01:19 PM

She is nice! That is all you need to know, Saucepan.

but Gloin is not . . .

++Gloin

mormegil 08-25-2006 01:26 PM

I will follow SpM today

Not really. And even if she is, she is completely useless. If she'd had any spunk she'd have murdered her husband. As it is, she is a threat to the harmony of the thread because she's so open to subversion.

Best be rid of her.

++ Tar-Miriel

The Only Real Estel 08-25-2006 01:39 PM

Hmm...SpM....morm...Kuru...

Ah the Secret-Undercover*-Something-or-Other-Alliance-of-Doom-or-Destruction.

Something tells me if I want to 'win' I should be joining (or requesting to join) them... :p

*unless I missed some sort of declaration...which I probably did. :/

mormegil 08-25-2006 01:41 PM

TORE I have never been loyal solely to one alliance. I am a rogue survivor who sees benefits and I take them. It so happens that the three of us see eye to eye quite often. However this current voting block is rather large against anything I do so I need those who don't hold prejudice against me.

Gil-Galad 08-25-2006 01:41 PM

++Tar-Miriel

i've been in a dwarf-favourable mood... maybe...

I like it. :D

Macalaure 08-25-2006 02:01 PM

This is All Star, not All Dwarf.

Let us get rid of Gloin then, though I would have liked to go for Gimli a little more.

++Gloin

Firefoot 08-25-2006 03:29 PM

++Goldberry

Let's try this again...?

Nogrod 08-25-2006 03:59 PM

Three dwarves at this stage of the game I would call a slight overepresentation... :)

So:

++ Gloin

As he seems to be the one we may have chances to evict from the island today.

wilwarin538 08-25-2006 04:32 PM

Votes so far:

Gloin - 6
Tar-Miriel - 4
Goldberry - 1

Your something is telling you the lies the alliance wishes you to hear. Stand brave! They are influential elders like the house of Fëanor was!

Let us keep the torch of the free peoples (and others) of the Middle-Earth alight! We may have differences in taste and opinion, but let us not give these over-selfconfident forces a possibility to dominate the scene as they would like to!

They are the Wormtongues whispering to our royal ears of democracy and free will! Let us not sleep!

They are the Shelobs knitting their webs in the dark behind our back! Let's stay alert!

They are the Saurons and Melkors thriving for glory and power, the ones who are ready to use anyone as their puppets and turn them down as they have been used! Do not be tricked by their sometimes honeyed words!

These Sarumans will lure you into anything if you give them your ear! Beware of their rhetorics!

United we are strong enough to fend off the onslaught of the evil conspiracies! Let's unravel their fancies and in the end of the game leave it to the honest majority to decide.

:D :D :rolleyes:

mormegil 08-25-2006 05:30 PM

Nogrod proposes to defend a so called alliance, but no alliance is formed so far as I know, however he wants it done by forming an alliance :rolleyes: . Again I am a rogue and have this freedom you speak of. You are the wormtongue if I have ever seen one. These noble individuals see the justice of their cause much as Gondor and Rohan would yet you give false wisperings and want to form an alliance because and alliance is evil.

Quote:

Beware of their rhetorics!
Of course your rhetoric applies too does it not? :p

Seriously though what has Tar-Miriel ever done or accomplished? Gloin at least is a dwarf of honor and high character. Gloin would dare to stand against evil however Tar-Miriel allowed Ar-Pharazon to take up the sceptre and rule in evil. See the difference. Gloin defends against evil and Tar-Miriel embraces evil. She would have us believe that she was forced into this situation, those who are learned in the lore know differently, she was a malignant influence and secretly sought out evil in all its forms.

Nogrod 08-25-2006 06:00 PM

Quote:

Touché! You're absolutely right.
But it's an open alliance to fend off any secret ones...

Quote:

As the Finninsh proverb says: "The dog that is hit by the stick will howl" So the one feeling guilty will start explaining himself off from the hook... :D

Quote:

Surely. As everyones. One can't claim for immunity in these things because we all have to use our language if we try to hold the flag for our cause. So we all will have to do it as good as we can. But people hide / have different goals behind their rhetorics.

Some are just having aspirations for a democratic and open vote to let the freedom and equality of the people in solidarity to prevail to produce the happiness of all.

Some have dark and cloudy schemes going on, trying to twist the good and the benevolent to help accomplish their nasty lust for power and the enforcement of their brutal iron rule of whims to oppress all differing points of view... :D

Firefoot 08-25-2006 06:20 PM

++Tar-Miriel

Gloin was always one of the dwarves I liked... and textually, Tar-Miriel did a whole lot less than he did.

Diamond18 08-25-2006 06:21 PM

Eh, Nogrod is just a bit upset that Gandalf is gone and a couple minor works characters are still around. :p

That said, now that Gandalf is gone (hurrah!) and I need a new person to vote for, I think I'll help out Firefoot's long suffering campaign against

+ + Goldberry

If we're getting on women for being subjugated by their husbands, I think we'd do better to look elsewhere than Tar Miriel. At least she had the decency to be miserable. Goldberry was kidnapped and turned into a domestic slave and enjoyed it.

EDIT... Er, Firefoot, this is rather awkward. :p Well, I still stand on principle and think G is a worse offened than T-M in the wimpy wife department. ;)

littlemanpoet 08-25-2006 08:14 PM

++ Celebrian

How about a three way tie and just get all the wimpy women off at once?
