nen echui
my reason: Im pretty sure this is the only answer in the entire "languages of middle earth" dictionary I havent said...I dont want to use the encyclopedia of arda...but i guess I have to.... :( |
Tarn Aeluin.
Ae - Ea (Universe reversed) Luin - Blue after Tar - Not sure about that N - North (direction) |
Please say night is wrong(not that I have anything against you ninght, just Ive been guessing and guessing and guessing...you know what) Tell him hes right Im annoyed with that clue
|
Not sure?
NK, Tar means high in Eldarin!
But you got it. :) Sorry, Morsul. |
good job night secondly I now look at that and go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" ;)
Ill have my revenge! :D |
Maybe you will. ;)
I'll post a new one when I get home. OK, here we go: Half an archer blinds us. |
hmmmm
hal an archer...a halfling makes us blind... destryoys the eye of Sauron Frodo |
Nono, you're thinking the wrong way. Look on page 1 of this thread, SPM has made a good guide to Cryptic Clues.
|
I know I was merely hoping you used straight clues
Herumor? Half an archer=her and a tumor can make you blind=tumor-t=umor her+umor= herumor |
Nope!
|
Anar
the sun blinds us if we stare at it an archer -cher= anar |
Score. ;)
|
ok then sorry for the wait here it is
Mr.Myers, Mr.Affleck, and Mr.Atkinson watch the fun clothed man |
fun clothed man is a straight clue
Mr. Affleck think of his first name as for the other two think of parts they played |
That helps ...
Mr Myers -> Wayne -> Iarwain
Mr Affleck -> Ben Mr Atkinson -> Blackadder -> Adder -> Adar The whole = Iarwain Ben-Adar, aka Tom Bombadil, a fun clothed man. :D |
10 days are up ...
So here's another:
A thousand found in bird heard by inquisitive fellow. |
well...i wont guess but you were right good job!
|
Thanks Morsul. :)
No takers? OK, here's a clue. The word "heard" is often used in cryptic clues to denote a "sounds like". |
I'm waiting ...
|
Oh my, it really is a hard one! :D
|
A guess.
Peregrin Took.
The peregrine is a bird (in fact it's the fastest living thing), which sounds like the first name of our inquisitive fellow. The "thousand" part is lost on me, though . . . |
'Fraid not, Nil. That's the wrong bird and the wrong inquisitive fellow. :p :D
|
Who needs this, anyway?!
*walks away, slams door, like SLAM!*
*walks back to the Quiz Room on tiptoe* (whispers) I will entuluva. But how about a hint, first? ;) |

Sméagol?
|
Hey! Good to see you back Turambar. How ya doin'? :)
But I am afraid that I must demand of you an explanation for your answer. ;) |
Explanation
Well I tried to post a picture of a seagull but that doesn't work on BD. And M (besides being a decent old movie) is the Roman numeral corresponding to 1,000.
|
That'll do for me. :)
All yours ... |
New Clue
Magic risers about the swift ones' home.
|
Uh . . .
Hint, please?
|
"About" = scramble pointer; "swift ones" = swift fliers.
E: And "risers" might be considered a bit of a stright clue, in addition to being part of the anagram ("magic risers"). :smokin: |
OK, I've waited long enough ...
The answer is Crissaegrim.
An anagram of "magic risers", and home to Thorondor, King of the Eagles, and his kin. |
|
Bump
You're up, oh highly-unsuited-to-sneaking-silently man.
|
just for the sake of having one up here I have a super simple one
Ben Stein's client also is gellin this is really easy in fact I'll add look through my older posts to find out abouut the "gellin" part of the clue |
OK, 10 days is up so I shall reclaim my question. :p ;)
Should be a pretty easy one this: Tearful girl upset in line |
Hmmm . . .
Tearful girl . . .
Upset "in line" . . . Niniel! |
But of course.
Take it away, Nil. :) |
This bump is officially sanctioned
Nilp?
|
Dear Lord... I arrived yesterday, so I read today 13 pages of cryptics... and then English isn't my native language... These are hard nuts to crack for a Dutchie. But giving up isn't a word I know...
Sorry for the interuption of the game... Keep them coming please! If Nilpaurion Felagund isn't reacting I like to toss one in. I think I have made up a good one, but I don't seem to be able so solve any off these myself :( |
