Gimli most likely sailed for Valinor from Anfalas with Legolas.

I'm gonna guess that Denethor because he is the only one who died in battle since Sam would have died even in Valinor.

Manardariel 01-23-2003 10:04 AM

Which is wrong, since Denethor killed himself. He didn´t die in battle.

Ultimatejoe 01-23-2003 10:19 AM

Durp... not battle, I mean he was the only one who didn't die of natural causes. Either way I guess it is wrong.

Still, this game would make more sense if you picked problems with only one solution. We've postulated at least three answers which could be true.

Ultimatejoe 01-23-2003 10:29 AM

Thinking books... Sam is the only one that writes a book; Denethor, Elrond and Sam all have books, and Gimli knows how to read, but so does everyone else in that list.

mark12_30 01-23-2003 10:52 AM

Elrond
Galadriel
Denethor
Sam
Gimli

Denethor is the only one who died in Middle-Earth as opposed to sailing The Straight Road.

Ultimatejoe 01-23-2003 11:00 AM

Someone already tried that. It fits but it isn't 'right' apparently.

mark12_30 01-23-2003 11:02 AM

Well if obtusity is the goal, how about Galadriel is the only female?

Manardariel 01-24-2003 12:59 PM

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Another hint- it does´t nececarilly(sp?) have to with their actions... and THINK BOOKS!

mark12_30 01-24-2003 01:21 PM

Galadriel is the only one with no mortal blood of any sort.

Ultimatejoe 01-24-2003 02:33 PM

Galadriel is the only one who appears in the appendix?

For the love of god, we've given you like 8 different answers which could be right, just tell us or come up with a list that doesn't have 20 different correct solutions!

Denethor is the only one that doesn't appear before RoTK?

Elrond was the only one who was IN Bilbo's book.

Manardariel 01-24-2003 04:45 PM

nope...but you´re on the right trak!

The Saucepan Man 01-24-2003 08:44 PM

Elrond
Galadriel
Denethor
Sam
Gimli

Sam was the only one who featured in LotR - the others all featured (in one guise or another) in JRRT's other works. Elrond, Galadriel and Denethor (son of Lenwe) all featured in the Silmarillion, And I think the name Gimli was used for a character in another tale?

Manardariel 01-25-2003 05:04 AM

Actually I´m talking about Denethor II, Boromir&Farsmir´s dad.....

Pallando B.C 01-25-2003 06:03 AM

Settle down, Ultimatejoe.

Manardariel, Denethor is the only one to not feature in the Fellowship of the Ring?

Ultimatejoe 01-25-2003 09:11 AM

I don't think my request is unreasonable...

Manardariel 01-26-2003 10:19 AM

No... but you´re getting warm...

UltimateJoe, I´m very sorry, but why don´t you try to figure it out anyway??

Beren87 01-26-2003 12:33 PM

Considering the number of characteristics Tolkien's characters have, its almost impossible to come up with a list that doesn't have an answer besides the one that the questionee had in mind.

She's giving us clues, so let us go with them.

Sam was the only one not born, when Bilbo's Lonely Mountain adventure took place?

Manardariel 01-26-2003 07:43 PM

Nooooooo....wrong direction, Pallando... another hint?

Geez, I never thought it was THIS hard

Beren87 01-26-2003 07:47 PM

Elrond was the only one in the hobbit?

Ultimatejoe 01-26-2003 10:37 PM

It's NOT that it's hard; it's too inspecific. Each one of the answers we've provided COULD have been right.

Beren87 01-26-2003 10:44 PM

True, true, but thats what the clues are for.

Pallando B.C 01-27-2003 04:12 AM

I think that one has been said before Beren.

Galadriel is the only one to speak, in the Quenta Silmarillion

Manardariel 01-27-2003 01:29 PM

No. Something tells me Elrond´s in the Quenta as well, but whatever.

Beren87 01-27-2003 02:03 PM

They all have a chapter named after them except for Gimli?

Manardariel 01-27-2003 02:31 PM

YES!!!!!!!! You´ve got it!!!!!!! 100000000000000 Million Dollars to Beren!

Wow-y.
Your turn, my friend

Pallando B.C 01-27-2003 03:35 PM

Only one to speak, remember.

Beren87 01-27-2003 04:07 PM

YES!!! I'm rich!

Finrod
Hour
Fingon
Hurin

Ultimatejoe 01-27-2003 06:57 PM

Quote:

Finrod

They all lived in Beleriand? Just kidding... Finrod is the only one who didn't fight at the Battle of Unnumbered Tears.

Beren87 01-27-2003 06:59 PM

Ah, not what I was thinking.

elven maiden Earwen 01-27-2003 09:38 PM

bad guess but hurin was the only one not slain in battle

Beren87 01-27-2003 09:40 PM

Not it. Its something they all encountered.

elven maiden Earwen 01-27-2003 09:43 PM

hour was the only one that didnt face morgoth

Beren87 01-27-2003 09:46 PM

Fingon didn't either.

That's not it.

elven maiden Earwen 01-27-2003 09:48 PM

fingon only one that faced sauron

Beren87 01-27-2003 09:50 PM

Why don't you give all these guesses at once so I can just say No once?

Ultimatejoe 01-28-2003 08:05 AM

Finrod never encountered the Eagles?

Beren87 01-30-2003 04:33 PM

Nope, but your getting there, just not the eagles.

Lindolirian 01-30-2003 08:21 PM

Finrod is the only one who has never encountered a Balrog.
