Well, you got the quote and speaker right, but Gandalf said it to Théoden, not Frodo. :p Your turn.

Got it.
"I must see if I can't find a more or less decent giant to block it up again," said Gandalf, "or soon there will be no getting over the mountains at all." |
Very well done and might I say good guess with the I. I'm thinking that's what helped. What with giant and mountain being a bit easier. Fantastic job however.
|
Thanks!
Just saw all those single dashes and thought, "Ah, this must be I's or a's."

I've stumped you for this long? I knew using obscure quotes would help. :D |
I think I've got it (more or less)...
"The dread that haunted the great Tower, and fear of the glooms of Fangorn that lay behind it, might protect it for a while, but if it were unmanned and neglected, as it was in the latter days of the stewards, that protection would not long avail." It's about Orthanc, somewhere in UT, but I haven't found it yet. Is this just narrative, or is it really said by a person? Edit: I've found it now, It's in U.T, " The Battles of the Fords of Isen", in appendix (ii), and as I suspected, it's just narrative. Obscure indeed! ;) :p |
You got it!
I knew normal quotes qould be no match for you guys, so I decided to raise the bar by using the obscurest quotes I could find! And nothing is more obscurer than the UT appendix.
Unless it's an endnote. Yeah. http://www.geocities.com/louis_martian/smilies/evil.gif Your thread, Guinevere. :) |
