Kath 10-11-2005 11:19 AM

Thanks! It's been a while.

No, 12 t's - does that matter?

Firefoot 10-11-2005 04:01 PM

E's please (Wow!! That rhymed!!! )

Firefoot 10-11-2005 05:06 PM

"Long has that been lost," (...) "Many have said that it was never made save in legend, but others say that it was destroyed."

But I can't find what it's referring to, and don't have more time to look.

Glirdan 10-11-2005 08:05 PM

I think I know who said that. Gandalf to Galadriel in The Unfinished Tales, forget what chapter. Perhaps the coming of the Istari? That's just a wild guess.

mormegil 10-13-2005 10:21 AM

*coughKathcough*

Guinevere 10-13-2005 02:34 PM

I didn't have time to play "Palantir of Fortune" recently, :(
but at least I can tell you that the quote above is Gimli referring to the "Endless Stair" in Khazad-dûm, when Gandalf tells them about his fight with the Balrog. (The Endless Stair led to the top of Zirakzigil)

Firefoot 10-13-2005 03:13 PM

Duh! I knew it was in LotR, I knew it! And I knew it was an absurdly familiar quote.

Kath 10-13-2005 04:10 PM

Sorry sorry sorry! Well who do I give it to!?! I mean Firefoot got the words but Guinevere got who said it and where. Ok, no decisions for me, whoever gets here and posts first can take it :D

And apologies for lateness, I truly did not see that anyone had posted on here. How odd.

Firefoot 10-13-2005 04:24 PM

I guess I'll go then.

Kath 10-13-2005 04:37 PM

E's then please.

Guinevere 10-13-2005 05:00 PM

and T's , while you're at it

mormegil 10-13-2005 05:49 PM

"N" please

I've always understood that stating where the quote came from is more of a side note instead of the actual point. Getting the quote itself is what constitutes a win.

Guinevere 10-13-2005 05:59 PM

Of course it is as Mormegil says! It wasn't my intention at all to "steal" Firefoot's turn ! ;)

luthien-elvenprincess 10-13-2005 06:31 PM

S, please

How about some H's?

“But now my heart is doubtful. The world changes, and all that once was strong now proves unsure.”

Theoden King about the Hornburg and yes it gave the words I needed thanks.

Firefoot 10-14-2005 05:26 AM

Sure thing! Your go.

mormegil 10-15-2005 09:16 AM

Thanks

"---,/----/---/---/----/---/-----,/(...)/---/---/----/-----/-/----/---/---/--/---/----/----,/-----/----/--/----/---."

One question I had for Guinevere and Firefoot does it necessarily need to be an actual quote, that is somebody saying something or can it be anything from the books?

Glirdan 10-15-2005 09:22 AM

Let's start off with some S's. (Go figure. )

Tuor in Gondolin 10-15-2005 09:55 AM

So..."o"s?

mormegil 10-15-2005 10:00 AM

SO

"--s,/----/---/---/s---/---/so---,/(...)/s--/--s/----/-----/-/s---/---/o--/-o/---/so--/--s-,/--o--/----/--/-o--/--o."

Guinevere 10-15-2005 10:02 AM

Well, I've been playing this game since 2002, and up to now we've as a rule taken actual quotes, or part of songs and poems. (with some rare exceptions, I believe)
It would be much harder if we take just some random piece of narrative, wouldn't it ? Though there are some well-beloved narratives that would easily be recognizable too.

I'd like to see the T's, please.

mormegil 10-15-2005 06:20 PM

SOT

"--s,/t---/---/---/s---/---/so---,/(...)/s--/--s/----/--t--/-/s--t/---/o--/to/--t/so--/--st,/--o-t/----/--/-o--/--o."

That's what I thought, thanks.

Glirdan 10-15-2005 07:50 PM

Some E's please.

Firefoot 10-15-2005 09:01 PM
