Son of Númenor 06-14-2004 08:08 PM

That'd be Tilion.

Carnimírië 06-14-2004 08:21 PM

Right.

Son of Númenor 06-27-2004 09:19 AM

Give two reasons why Melkor was named Morgoth.

Fingolfin II 06-27-2004 06:05 PM

TWO reasons!

1- Because Feanor called him 'Morgoth', or the Black Foe of the World, after he found out that Morgoth stole the Silmarils and killed his father Finwe.

2- Because Morgoth was a very bad person who had a black heart and was detested by everyone, even his own servants/slaves?

The first one was obvious, I'm not so sure about the second though .

Son of Númenor 06-28-2004 05:56 PM

Works for me

Take the reins, Fingolfin II. :smokin:

Fingolfin II 06-28-2004 09:34 PM

Cheers, Son of Numenor.

Name 5 dwarves who died in the First Age.

NightKnight 06-29-2004 05:28 AM

Azaghal, Mim, Khim, Ibun and the king of Nogrod (don't remember if he had a name, but he was killed by Beren in the tale of Nauglafring).

Fingolfin II 06-29-2004 06:56 PM

I was thinking of Durin I, but...

Good enough for me!

NightKnight 06-30-2004 04:47 AM

I suspected that after I had posted my answer. :p

What was Gar Ainion?

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-01-2004 12:10 AM

The Place of the Gods, where Tuor and Idril were married - in Lost Tales.

NightKnight 07-08-2004 11:14 AM

Yeppers. Your turn.

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-08-2004 08:33 PM

Thanks!

So, the vale where Gondolin stood was long ago filled with what?

Gil-Galad 07-08-2004 08:49 PM

probaly Air, then rocks, then water

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-08-2004 09:18 PM

You got the right answer there somewhere...

But let's change the wording...

...the vale [where Gondolin stood] had been a great ____ in ancient days.

There. Fill in the blank.

Gil-Galad 07-08-2004 09:23 PM

"A big rock" was in the middle, surrounded by fields of Grass but in ancient days a great Lake from the Vales of Sirion

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-08-2004 09:28 PM

No, Gil-galad.

Check the Silm, especially the beginning part of Chapter 15.

Thorongil 07-09-2004 05:35 AM

Lake?

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-09-2004 08:30 PM

Thorongil hits the spot.

Carry on.

Thorongil 07-24-2004 07:08 PM

An easy one in the lack of a better question...

How long was the First Age?

Gil-Galad 07-24-2004 07:51 PM

First Age of what? the stars? the trees? the sun?

Thorongil 07-25-2004 05:31 AM

The first age were asking questions about. Right before Second Age.

Nice edit to the sig.

Gil-Galad 07-25-2004 11:04 AM

strange how i can't find it...the thing i'm looking at it says the Second age starts at 0...Sinking of Beleriand is at 40 years...Numenor 32...

yeah thanks, with our little discussion i remembered it, and since this is a dead zone, i would think it'll be best to be place here...

The Perky Ent 07-25-2004 12:08 PM

I think the first age lasted for 583 years. That was short :D

Thorongil 07-26-2004 02:31 AM

You're right, but personally I wouldn't call 583 years short.

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-28-2004 09:51 PM

*poke*

Perks?

The Perky Ent 07-29-2004 10:41 AM

Compare it to the Third Age, Thorongil! That's a 3,000 year difference ;) Anyways, how many High Kings of the Noldor died in the First Age?

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-29-2004 08:15 PM

Oh, Hobbes, don't look up.

No, wait, I was talking to Perks' avvie. Nice, but now I confuse you with Son of Númenor.

Anywhen, four High Kings of the Noldor died during the First Age - of the Sun, that it.

The Perky Ent 07-29-2004 09:42 PM

Yep! Feanor, Fingolfin, Fingon, Turgon! BTW, Hobbes looks to the skies! lol Yeah, Son of Numenor and I have very similar avatars! But Hobbes is worth it!

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-29-2004 09:52 PM

Thanks, Perky.

Now, who lives in Taur-im-Duinath?

Firefoot 07-30-2004 06:45 AM

No one.

Nilpaurion Felagund 07-30-2004 09:16 PM

Wrong!

Someone does! :p

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-04-2004 11:23 PM

C'mon, people!

It's in Quenta Silmarillion, Chapter 14.

Gil-Galad 08-05-2004 10:26 AM

Sauron?

luthien-elvenprincess 08-05-2004 06:04 PM

After the incredibily obvious clue :p , I will answer 'a few Dark Elves'!

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-06-2004 12:00 AM

luthien-elvenprincess, after the obviously correct answer :p , I'll say the thread is yours. ;)

luthien-elvenprincess 08-07-2004 02:14 PM

What was Fingolfin's blue shield set with?

Gil-Galad 08-07-2004 04:50 PM

Wasn't it his Helm and Sword, Ringil?

luthien-elvenprincess 08-07-2004 05:49 PM

nope

Firefoot 08-07-2004 08:07 PM

Crystals.

luthien-elvenprincess 08-08-2004 07:10 AM

Correct, Firefoot!
