A happy birthday to Aylwen, who is sorely missed!

satansaloser2005 06-14-2008 05:10 PM

Happy birthday, Gil! :)

Groin Redbeard 06-14-2008 05:40 PM

Happy Birthday Gil-Galad, have a good one!

Volo 06-15-2008 07:19 AM

Late-a-be-d birthday, 2G! Imagine you're a superstar!

Legate of Amon Lanc 06-15-2008 07:45 AM

Yay, happy belated birthday to Gil! Hope you had a great one... (or is it actually belated even for him already...? Whatever.)

Hookbill the Goomba 06-20-2008 02:18 AM

Happy Pan day, Saucebirth!

...

Erm...

You know what I mean! :D

Brinniel 06-20-2008 03:02 AM

I did this before for Eomer's birthday, and I think it's only right I repeat...

...In honour of Cailin's birthday:

Lang zal ze leven, lang zal ze leven,
Lang zal ze leven in de gloria,
In de gloria, in de gloria!

(We used to sing that song almost every week back at Kasteel Well...how I miss it)

Hartelijk gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag! :smokin:

I would say more, but I really don't know that much Dutch. So...have a lovely day and eat a giant stroopwafel for me! :D

Nerwen 06-20-2008 03:40 AM

Happy birthday, Cailin, SpM and Gil.

...and Estelyn... and MathewM... and everyone else I've missed.

I think I need to check out this thread more often.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 06-20-2008 04:53 AM

Indeed, gefeliciteerd Cailín! (Yeah, I can't resist saying it online too. :p )

Also, I wish SPM a very happy birthday wherever he is.

Mithalwen 06-20-2008 06:23 AM

Many Happy returns to Cailin and the PanMan :)

Aganzir 06-20-2008 07:48 AM

Happy birthday to Cailín and Saucie! :)

I'm very impressed with your knowledge of Dutch culture, already, though of course you are a little bit Dutch yourself now (a tiny bit, anyway)!

Thanks everyone! :D

And of course a happy birthday for Saucepan Man, who was born under the same happy star constellation blah blah as myself.

Groin Redbeard 06-20-2008 08:17 AM

Happy birthday to Cailin and Saucepan, have a good one! :)

Lhunardawen 06-20-2008 08:37 AM

Happy birthday to my ex-furry mummy Cailin (sorry, can't resist :p) and Espiem! :) And to everyone else I missed, belated happy birthday!

Kath 06-20-2008 08:40 AM

Happy birthday both of you! It's nice to see you around again Cailin, and hopefully we'll see some more of Sauce soon as well. :)

Volo 06-20-2008 09:19 AM

Happy birthday, children of summer! Drink light and fill yourselves with joy!

Rumil 06-20-2008 11:17 AM

Saucie 1 year older

Happy Birthday Saucepanman!!!!

I am very relieved that I have a year-and-a-bit on you! :p

All the best,

Rumil

Eomer of the Rohirrim 06-20-2008 11:22 AM

Aye, Rumil: Saucie will always be a newbie to some of us. :p

Lalaith 06-20-2008 12:14 PM

Many happy returns to two of the finest WW players ever to grace the Downs. May their shadows never grow less!

Rikae 06-20-2008 01:52 PM

Hmm... Dutch looks to me like English and German put in a blender :D (but maybe English and German are really broken Dutch?)

Anyway, a very Happy Birthday to my wolf and cobbler, Cailin and Sauce!

Eönwë 06-20-2008 03:32 PM

Happy Birthday Cailin.

And hopefully come back SpM.

Mithalwen 06-21-2008 11:04 AM

hmmm they are related but Dutch and german are more closely related since they are both descended from South Germanic while English comes from Anglo Frisian. However I believe Dutch has been influenced by friesan too..

That said I felt that I should be able to undestand dutch/flemish when I was in Flanders & Holland but...

Volo 06-21-2008 03:39 PM

Hahahaa! Happy birthday Naria! Happy birthday!

Eönwë 06-21-2008 05:13 PM

Happy Birthday Naria, if you can see this.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 06-22-2008 11:58 PM

Happy birthday to dear Mithalwen! :) Virtual glass of wine and slice of cake, of course.

Gwathagor 06-22-2008 11:59 PM

What kind of cake?

Naria 06-23-2008 01:05 AM

*Hugs* Thanks Volo and Eonwe!!

I had a wonderful day, but the best will be coming this next weekend. I can't wait! Oh, and turning 35 sucks big time. I really didn't think that it was going to hit me like it did(ya know when you're riding a bike and you're looking at something off to the side and smash into a parked car...kind of that feeling). Ah well, still lots of life left in me and more good times to be had. Thanks again you two:D

Nerwen 06-23-2008 01:06 AM

Happy birthday Naria and Mithalwen!

Kath 06-23-2008 05:20 AM

Happy birthday Naria, hope that smashed feeling fades off, or at least gets replaced with a slightly different one. :D

Happy birthday Mith! Lots of birthday cheer to you as well, I hope you have a better day than Naria has had so far. Big slices of chocolate cake and champagne in order methinks. Cheers! *raises glass*

Hehe - yes! I'd even say: Have such a good day that you'll remember it forever!

Aganzir 06-23-2008 09:00 AM

Many happy returns to Mithalwen who first introduced me to the art of wolvery. :)

Groin Redbeard 06-23-2008 11:07 AM

Happy Birthday Mithalwen, have a good one!:)

TheGreatElvenWarrior 06-23-2008 12:09 PM

Have a very happy birthday, Mith! Much happiness.

Lalaith 06-23-2008 02:36 PM

Thank goodness I checked in to the Downs and thus did not forget Mith's birthday this year....
Very many happy returns, my dear old bean. Well not so old..ahem....being younger than me.
May you have much (just-post) midsummer madness, of the nicest variety.

Nogrod 06-23-2008 04:49 PM

Uh-oh!

Two remarkable birthdays, Naria and Mith!
(I really should visit this thread more often as I'm more than confused letting you two slip out of my sight in what comes to birthdays...)

This wouldn't be the same forum without you two.

May there be a host of these days for both of you to come!

Youngsters... :rolleyes::D

Hilde Bracegirdle 06-23-2008 04:59 PM

Happy Birthday, Mith!!!

Eönwë 06-24-2008 05:41 AM

No! I missed it! :((and I know I did because she's in my time zone)

Happy (belated) Birthday Mithalwen!:D

Mithalwen 06-24-2008 06:44 AM

Many thanks

for all your kind wishes...

Given that Monday is a rotten "going out" night the festivities started with a meal out on Friday, continued with a family Sunday lunch (on Sunday unoriginally) then cakes at work, a drink with my godmother and an "indoor picnic" watching Wimbledon highlights with my god-daughter ..... champagne, smoked salmon blinis, serrano ham, good bread, good cheese, Eton mess. Oh and lemon and lavender cup cakes. We decided to save the bittermints for another time.

Fabulous but don't offer me a "waffer-thin mint" or indeed anything more substantial than coffee for about a week :p

Lhunardawen 06-28-2008 05:21 AM

Happy birthday, Brinn! :)

Nerwen 06-28-2008 08:38 AM

Happy birthday, Brinn!

–also Goldberry and samwise... whoever they may be.;)
