I'm overthinking? Typical. :D Really. It's a problem that I have with my teachers. :p

Was it Gandalf that made it?

Mithalwen 06-05-2011 05:40 PM

Gandalf is correct.

Galadriel55 06-05-2011 05:45 PM

*goes over Gandalf-making-things references*

It's not something like "flames", is it?

Mithalwen 06-05-2011 05:59 PM

No. I hope it is a case that you will kick yourself when you find out rather than think I have led you astray, Will check back and make sure I have been fair.

Mithalwen 06-05-2011 06:05 PM

No I my conscience is clear enough. I don't want to spoil it for you bey commenting on what I have already answered. You have scope still to close in on it.

Galadriel55 06-05-2011 06:06 PM

I just came upon this thought: is it the smoke-rings that he made so skillfully?

Mithalwen 06-05-2011 06:13 PM

I wouldn't call those portable - they move but you can't carry them from place to place. Clever but too clever?
Another guess before I go for the night?

Galadriel55 06-05-2011 06:15 PM

His letter to Frodo that Butterbur forgot to send?

Mithalwen 06-05-2011 06:19 PM

YEs!!!! I was going to say it was literally manufactured if you go back to the latin but you got there... and portability is the key

Galadriel55 06-05-2011 07:36 PM

Sweet! :D

OK, I have one, it probably won't be as difficult to guess...

Tuor in Gondolin 06-06-2011 07:39 AM

Person?

Galadriel55 06-06-2011 08:38 AM

Person - I would say yes.

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 12:18 PM

Character in Lord of the Rings?

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 12:19 PM

Person - I would say yes.
Character in LOTR - doesn't appear there, but is mentioned.

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 12:44 PM

Do they appear in another work? (as a character rather than a reference)

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 01:24 PM

Person - I would say yes.

Do they appear in another work as a character (not reference) - I do not believe so. No.

Edit: might be in the UT or some HOME book, but I didn't read them as yet, so I can't say.

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 01:41 PM

Queen Beruthiel?

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 01:44 PM

Queen Beruthiel - great guess, but no.

Pitchwife 06-07-2011 02:29 PM

Is it NOT an elf, dwarf, Man, hobbit or Orc?

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 02:31 PM

Another shot in the twilight - Fimbrethil - Treebeard's lost love.

If you haven't read UT you are in for a treat, It is possibly my favourite for all the little snippets.

The shot in the twilight met its mark! :D That was quick! Your turn!

(Sorry, Pitch, but Mith got it)

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 03:09 PM

IT was the hesitation about person - and only being a reference. But no it was a good one. I would have said yes... ;) Clever.

Hmm what shall I go for... okies off you go..

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 04:00 PM

Is it a person?

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 04:02 PM

No, not a person

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 04:07 PM

A thing?

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 04:10 PM

YEs it is a thing - still geography averse!:p

Stop making me feel guilty! ;) :Merisu:

Is it made by a mortal?

Mithalwen 06-07-2011 04:30 PM

don't take it personally - I have notoriously poor sense of direction. My father threatened to have a tracking device fitted to my car when I passed the driving test. I struggle with left and right and well I won't humiliate myself by telling you of some of my misadventures - some of those who wander ARE lost....

Made by mortal - no (v.unlikely).

Galadriel55 06-07-2011 05:48 PM

Made in the 1st age?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 02:33 AM

I wouldn't have thought so.

Galadriel55 06-08-2011 07:33 AM

How about the 2rd?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 07:43 AM

Again unlikely . Less unlikely perhaps but still....

Galadriel55 06-08-2011 07:45 AM

Is it a weapon?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 07:54 AM

No

Galadriel55 06-08-2011 08:00 AM

Does it have anything to do with food/drink?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 09:40 AM

Not in itself no.

Galadriel55 06-08-2011 09:50 AM

Is it something one could wear?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 10:28 AM

Yes and indeed someone does!

Galadriel55 06-08-2011 11:34 AM

A piece of jewelry?

Mithalwen 06-08-2011 11:39 AM

Not a piece of jewellery
