Bethberry:

I'll amend that to say -

Now is the Elf 'Undun'

"It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost the sun
She's come undone
She didn't know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
It was too late

She's come undone
She found a mountain that was far too high
And when she found out she couldn't fly
Mama, it was too late

It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost the sun
She's come undone"

ROSE

I edited the post to make it Daisy who dances up to Mithadan, and not you.

What are you doing, Mz. Sneaky? Taking a page from Pio's book of plot twists?!

Rose Cotton 11-02-2002 11:26 AM

*Looks inoccently at Pio with her hands behind her back.* Oh, we're not doing anything. Right Child?

Child- all of those changes are great! I can't wait for everyone to see.

piosenniel 11-02-2002 12:31 PM

*stamps her foot impatiently*

I've got a dead husband on deck, and now I have to deal with you two!!

*rubs her forehead again*

Where are my Tylenol!

Bęthberry 11-02-2002 12:47 PM

Yo, Pio! So the elf will be crooning, "These eyes have seen a lotta love but they're never gonna see another like the one I had with ..."

Ahem. *clears throat* He's not dead quite yet. You rushing things? The story is playing out really well. I've been lurking so I wouldn't intrude on all the logistics.

I'm glad you're back online, Sharon.

Rose Cotton 11-02-2002 01:51 PM

Ya, Mith might be just fine. You know he's made of tough stuff.

Birdland 11-02-2002 02:03 PM

Yeah, all you have right now is a swooning husband. Of course, Tuor and Idril might decide to take him to a very good Valinor critical care unit, which means that you would have to go with him!

Ain't it a ***** when the hubby decides to relocate?

piosenniel 11-02-2002 05:34 PM

Nope, the Elf is fadin' away:

These eyes cry every night for you
these arms long to hold you again
The hurtin's on me, yeah
but I will never be free, no, my baby no, no
you gave a promise to me yeah
you broke it, you broke it
These eyes watched you bring my world to an end
this heart could not accept and pretend
The hurtin's on me yeah
but I will never be free, no, no, no
You took a vow with me yeah
you spoke it, you spoke it (baby...)
These eyes are crying
these eyes have seen a lot of love
but their never gonna see another one like I had with you
These eyes cry every night for you
these arms long to hold you again
These eyes are crying
these eyes have seen a lot of love
but their never gonna see another one like I had with you
(repeat until it fades away)

Birdland 11-02-2002 06:56 PM

Uh, did our magic crystal take us back to the 60's or something?

piosenniel 11-02-2002 07:10 PM

and Canada, too . . .

piosenniel 11-02-2002 07:29 PM

Holy Moly! It's gonna be a big mound if we bury most of the companions!

Let's do a body count:

Rose has been speared

Mithadan has exsanguinated on the deck

Pio will probably just fade away from shock

Anyone else getting on the bus for the Halls of Mandos?

*does her Buddy Holly version of 'Not Fade Away'*

Sheesh. I go away for a week, and half the crew gacks. Welcome home to you, too!

Bird, don't leave me! Cami??? Hello???

Child of the 7th Age 11-02-2002 08:57 PM

Helen -- Welcome back. I had computer problems for 10 days, so couldn't even do my own posts! Am still playing catch up, but Cami is alive and well though feeling guilty about Rose taking that spear.

Do you want to add anything to the rescue? Mith can slot it in anywhere. I never did a scene passing out weapons, or Phura cleaning out the smithy and locks. I should have reserved more spaces, but I was barely on at all. They rewired my whole house and yard which did no good. It turned out to be the modem.

sharon

mark12_30 11-02-2002 09:44 PM

Hi Sharon,

Glad you're still there! Phew!

Re: Phura, I'll probably do one scene that basically consists of "Everything was going smoothly as planned, but..." and then do some introspective stuff that I can follow up with on board, later.

Glad to know you're back online; too bad about your yard.... yeow.

Uh... Rose is going to recover from her spear-wound... right???

Birdland 11-02-2002 11:44 PM

OK Sharon, I've picked up you, Rose, and the kids and taken you back to the ship. It's on page 9, post dated October 31, 2002 02:22 AM.

Sorry I'm late. I didn't know it was my turn to drive the car pool.

Bęthberry 11-03-2002 08:17 AM

Only Safeway saves more.

HELEN

Per Sharon's request I edited some of my posts -

Pio has told Phura that his brother and Azraph are rescued.

Phura's group meets up at the end with Pio/Mithadan's motley crew and fights the last battle of the Guard Quarters with them.

They then evacuated to the first Elven ship after the battle was over.

Bęthberry 11-03-2002 04:46 PM

And they all died happily ever after? This is beginning to sound like Dieppe.

Rose Cotton 11-03-2002 05:12 PM

Thank you CHILD, that post was beutifull.
Nice rescue, Bird.

Well, what do you expect? That we were going to go into those caves and come out with out some casualities?

Rose might recover if someone could mend that gaping hole in her side. Better hurry, Hobbits can't hold that much blood.

Bęthberry 11-03-2002 05:38 PM

Rose,

My comments here are meant as light-hearted banter from a reader interested in the story, to let you know that someone is reading who appreciates the writing, nothing more.

Bethberry

mark12_30 11-03-2002 06:25 PM

Pat: Thanks.

If anybody has any suggestions or requests let me know, otherwise I'm sitting back and enjoying a ripsnorter of a story. Go, Birddragon! Eh, Dragbird? erm... right.

Anyway, I keep thinking that I'll wait a bit more and see what's next before I add anything... Sharon, flag me if I'm needed.

BETHBERRY- I understand your just giving some comments. I just thought I'd reply. I feel honered that someone has the time to bother with our story.

piosenniel 11-04-2002 02:29 AM

Asked Bird what the shapechanger traditional wake was like:

Quote:

The Body of an American
By Shane MacGowan (1986)

"The cadillac stood by the house
And the yanks they were within
And the tinker boys they hissed advice
'Hot-wire her with a pin'
Then we turned and shook as we had a look
In the room where the dead man lay
So big Jim Dwyer made his last trip
To the home where his father's laid

But fifteen minutes later
We had our first taste of whiskey
There was uncles giving lectures
On ancient Irish history
The men all started telling jokes
And the women they got frisky
At five o'clock in the evening
Every bastard there was piskey..."
. . . something like that, but without the Caddy.

Could be fun! A whiskey in one hand, and a Guinness in the other!

piosenniel 11-04-2002 10:13 AM

*grins impishly*

Rumours of a certain Captain's demise have been highly exagerated . . .

He's alive and well and on the mend!

Now Idril needs to make a visit to Mz. Rose

Ahem! Allow me to enlighten you here, honoured Lady Rose. I happen to be one of several people who very much enjoy following this adventure.
To say it with other words: You guys have fans!

And now I hope you will all forgive me my trespassing.
*Bows deep and quickly runs away*

piosenniel 11-04-2002 10:38 AM

Ah hah!

Now there are TWO of you fans lurking at the edges of the story!

Welcome, Maikadilwen!

mark12_30 11-04-2002 10:56 AM

(Don't forget Gandalf. Hullo, Gandalf.)

Pio-- a week? Yikers! Could you leapfrog? I have a ton of stuff that happens in the first couple of days, and I thought we were just on the first night... is that okay?

mark12_30 11-04-2002 12:24 PM

To Khelek or not to Khelek? I had started out with Khelek and then "realised" he would be aboard the Star and not the first Elven ship... is he aboard the first ship after all?

piosenniel 11-04-2002 12:29 PM

I can leapfrog.

Do you want to see if Child and or Bird can cut and paste you into their funeral and wake SAVES since we won't be needing those.

Khelek is aboard the first Elven ship to reach the caverns, as is Pio, Mithadan, Ancalimon, etc. It is the one to which both Phura and Gamba, Azraph, Daisy, Kali have also returned.

Child of the 7th Age 11-04-2002 12:35 PM

Pio --
Please see my pm. I also have a bunch of stuff to go up, including a scene I wrote three weeks ago on Idril and Andril healing Rose! (Great minds think alike.)

Sharon

mark12_30 11-04-2002 12:39 PM

I've got another long Phura-and-Bird post (as soon as Phura's on his feet, that is) waiting "in the wings." And we were planning on doing some Cami-Gamba stuff, too, I think.

piosenniel 11-04-2002 12:59 PM

I have left a number of save posts on the board, instead of deleting them.

Is there anyway you both can allow me to cut and paste into them for any post of yours. Or can you please put a number of your own 'saves' on then I can move the freakin' posts of mine once again.

Please reply soon as I have to go to work today.

I will move the Idril/Andril post 'save below the Mithadan/Pio - is that going to be okay or do you want her cured earlier?

[ November 04, 2002: Message edited by: piosenniel ]

mark12_30 11-04-2002 01:16 PM

Pat, send me anything you want pasted in with directions/locations and I'd be happy to insert it, --Helen

piosenniel 11-04-2002 01:25 PM

Please see my PM to you, Helen. You can use any of my saves prior to the 'week later' scenes.

Thanks, but I need nothing cut/pasted - am through with this section of the storyline for now with the exception of the Idril/Andril visit to Rose, which I can put in to any of my 'saves'.

SHARON - also see my PM to you about taking the saves you need.

Birdland 11-04-2002 01:29 PM

The "traditional skinchanger's wake" was a joke! Please feel free to use the space to plug in anyone to help with continuity, or it can be deleted later. Since everyone has squeaked through, there is no need for a wake.

Everyone has squeaked through, right? No last minute croaks that anyone's hiding?

Child of the 7th Age 11-04-2002 01:31 PM

Pat-- I'm ok. See my pm. Keep the existing saves for now--you and Bird. I may use one or more. sharon

mark12_30 11-04-2002 01:46 PM

Pio, I sent you a reply. I grabbed 2 spots, so go ahead with your 2-week stuff. Thanks! --Helen

[ November 04, 2002: Message edited by: mark12_30 ]

EDIT: Pio, I'm confused, I hope I didn't mess things up-- I thought that you also had more stuff two weeks after the rescue, one week after Mithadan wakes up. I wasn't intentionally trying to get you to move Mithadan's awakening again. (I was just trying to be cooperative.)

[ November 04, 2002: Message edited by: mark12_30 ]

Mithadan 11-04-2002 01:59 PM

Wait a minute! I'm not dead? *checks script*

Hey! Its says right here, page 672 line 8, very clearly that Mithadan...

*reads fine print ("third draft, subject to change").

*Grumbles and stalks away to O'Hare Intn'l to get a flight home where he can access his control panel properly.

See y'all tomorrow...

Child of the 7th Age 11-04-2002 02:21 PM

Helen --

Please check your pms. You and I also have a timeline conflict. Please see my message to you. If this isn't ok, let me know. The faster we get these up, the less likelihood of "time conflict." sharon

piosenniel 11-04-2002 02:39 PM

*hands him the revision memo*

Actually, Mithadan, we're on the fourth, possibly the fifth draft.

You are alive and really should get out of bed soon - I see Idril has okayed you for return to 'light duty'. That puts you on the dishwashing crew in the improvised cooking yard on the isle.

*hands him an apron and a sponge*
