Take me! Take me!

Orominuialwen 08-06-2003 03:06 PM

When the local Borders (a bookstore) is moving, your mom goes and buys the giant 3D cardboard cutout that looks like the cover of the FotR video for you and your brother.(YES, this is true! )

When you tell everyone you know who has read LotR that they NEED to read the Silmarillion.
More later-gotta go.

I'll go with you, elfearz!

Luthien: Take me! Take me!
Can I come too? (Warning: I may attempt harm on anyone who gets between me and the poster!)

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-06-2003 08:05 PM

I believe we shall all have to take turns. Shall we go oldest first, or quickest first? I'll most likely be last either way. (Hint: Yes, I do intend to quote a certain conversation about hobbit baths).

Finwe 08-07-2003 08:51 AM

Smooth, real smooth Luthie!

When your mom starts drooling over the Aragorn RotK poster too. (Be afraid, be very afraid.)

When you buy a cheap $ 24.95 sword in Mexico, with two back-to-back eagle heads on the pommel, and name it Soronnaro, and practice killing Orcs with it in your room. (Guilty!)

Orominuialwen 08-07-2003 09:02 AM

When you dance for joy because:
Someone said your little brother looks like Frodo
Your friend said the way you did your hair makes you look elvish
There's a place near the city where you live that sells and makes swords and your mom says she'll take you there
you find out there's a fencing club in your school
------------------------------------------------------------------
When you dress up as Arwen for Halloween and go trick-or-treating with your brother (Frodo), even though people say you're too old to do such things

When yu us eyour elvish name as an e-mail address even though most people have major trouble spelling it , let alone pronouncing it. :

Tinuviel of Denton 08-07-2003 09:22 AM

Hey, Oromin, glad to see that I'm not the only one who has an impossible to pronounce email address. (at least these silly mortals seem to think so. )

When you never say 'thank you' in English (or whatever your national language happens to be) and nobody has to ask you what 'hanon le' means anymore.

When you introduce yourself by your elvish name, even though you haven't legally changed it yet.

Orominuialwen 08-07-2003 09:40 AM

When you "see" BDers more than your other friends. Maybe this should go in the addicted to BD thread. Oh well.

Oh! I'm sooooo jealous!

No one can pronounce my elvish name properly either, I get called "pickley".
(My name translated into elvish is Poicalė)

Hey Elennar, how *do* you pronounce that? Just curious...My Elvish isn't that great...

-You've ridden a stuffed horse down the staircase while shouting "Noro lim, Asfaloth! Noro lim!" *guilty*

-You've recited "A Elbereth Gilthoniel" over the phone to a confused telemarketer. *guilty again*

-You buy your capris extra baggy and call them your "hobbit pants" *guilty thrice*

-You just got yelled at by your mom 'cause you have to do chores, and you muttered under your breath "auta miqula orcu" ...*I'll be back *

Okay, here be mine (enjoy):

You spend the whole of your luch period at lordoftherings.net waiting for Billy Boyd. One day, at my dad's office, we got Billy Boyd first off. Genevieve and I danced around chanting "Bill-y Boyd" over and over. I got really wierd looks from my Dad!

When ever you see a spider you scream "DIE MINION OF SHILOB!!!!" and attack it with a swifter (Genevieve just puts a dixie cup over it, and gets help, so cute!)

I have seen many ents, mainly ones that resemble hemlocks (lanky and thin) and spruces (burly) thought. They're very majestic up here (AK). I don't care what you say, I've seen many of them!

Okay, my friend wrote this, and I helped some. It goes to that one song (I don't know the name of)"...we took a little bacon, and we took a little beans, and we fought the bolddy British at the Battle of New Orleans"

In thirty nineteen we took a litte trip, along with all the Riders along the Mighty Anduin. We took a little Lembas and we took a lot of beer, and we met the Nameless Army on the Fields of Pelenor.

We loosed our arrows but the orcs kept a comin'. There wasn't neigh as many as there was a while ago. Frodo burned the ring and they comenced a runnin', on up the Poros River to the gates of Moradora (it had to fit!)
We all went back to Gondor, where Aragorn was crowned. Two sets of lovers married, and a new white tree was found.
(so yah, feel free to add on)

When ever I'm about to go onstage, I chant "Feanor give me streanght" It works too, it gets reid of all my butterflies!

Yah, I do alot of other things, but hose are the best!

Oh, that is the coolest idea! You haven't copyrighted it or anything, have you?

Oh! I want to come with you too, elfearz! I haven't got anything else to do.

Nehani 08-07-2003 02:55 PM

Oops! I screwed up a verse. It goes like this:

So now we've won and the mighty quest is done. Frodo lost a finger and we all had lots of fun. Now we're back at Gondor, where Aragorn was crowned. Two sets of lovers married, and a new White Tree was found.

Toodles!

Nope, go right ahead! It's highly recommended. I can just imagine the faces on these telemarketers when people start reciting to them in Elvish Someday I hope to find someone who starts reciting *with* me...

Woo! Mondo-movie party!

When you name trees, and then whisper "wake up!" to them. I have friends Leaffingers and Greenlimb.

When you commentate your llife in your head. I do that constantly.

When you compare your life to Tolkiens.

When you compare your life to LOTR.

Mariska, all you'd have to do would be to join in. You'd get to meet one of us Downers. That would be cool, but no one seems to live in my area...

I did the telemarketer thingie last night. They hung up on me.

My mom has the same "fascination" for Aragorn that most do. But she seems to like Frodo more...someone please gag me with a spoon, or some other dull object. It's killing me. *falls on the floor*

You know that you are obsessed with LOTR
when you buy Tolkien book that cost $275

And when you can recite the whole movie.

guilty of the first but not the second

Hi, Tinuviel's sister! Sorry, had to say it Any-woo, which book was this that cost so much?! Was it a special, rare copy or something? That's expensive!

Any-woo, back to the thread. I've been off-topic lately...

-When you name inanimate objects after LotR characters. *Say hello to Boromir, the origami penguin!*

-When you read this thread for ideas...

-When you read this thread for ideas and still have more to add

Tinuviel of Denton 08-08-2003 11:49 PM

Actually, she bought leather-bound, gold-embossed copies of the trilogy, the Hobbit, and the Silm. While I love the things, I would never manage to pay that much for them.

(She got very mad at me for the sister bit )

Oh, I want them so bad! But they're too expensive for me... Maybe someday, when I have a well-paying job or something.

I've tried to recite the whole movie (FOTR) before, but there are certain parts I get stuck on, even after seeing it fourteen times. I guess I'll have to watch it a few more before I can recite the whole thing. I can recite most of it pretty well, though. I believe I can do almost the entire Council of Elrond scene!

So has everyone been greeting her as your sister, Tinuviel? I did that, too. I should do it again. Welcome to the Downs, Tinuviel's sister!

When you get blisters on the bottom of your feet from walking aroud barefoot, like a hobbit, and as soon as they heal you start walking around barefoot again.

I love going barefoot! I only really do it at home or on grass, though. Shoes are evil! Yeah, if I'm in a field or something, I'm usually the first one to take off my shoes.

Tymezennith 08-09-2003 04:54 PM

Not sure about this one, but all well.
When somebody insults you, you fill your lungs and shout-sing, "These wounds they will not heal!" from TTT soundtrack

hehe... I scared the crap out of some guys who honked at me.

I went to the Festival of the American West with Tymezennith and we walked around barefoot all day, in great skirts.
(But I stepped in something nasty, which was not very fun.)

...I'm watching FotR right now... They're trying to enter Moria. heh heh... Hint, guys: Mellon! The password is 'mellon!!' ...Awwwww... poor Bill. Any-woo, back to the thread.

-Your friends and family refuse to watch the movies with you because you mutter the lines under your breath and point out things that "weren't in the books"

-You also comment on things from the Extended Edition's "Fellowship of the Cast" such as Dom's splinter and Sean's directing of the helicopters.

-You sleep with your Ring

-You dream of your Ring

-You don't know why people say those last two are "unhealthy" ...

Tinuviel of Denton 08-09-2003 09:31 PM

You attempt to tell a group of three-year-olds the story of LotR, and are confused when all you get is blank looks.

You design a sigil for yourself, based on the laws of heraldry in ME (working on it).

You embroider niphredil on your midnight blue cape with beads (that takes hours!).

Galenfea of Mirkwood. 08-10-2003 09:32 AM

Your littlest cousin (2) comes round and you decide to begin his education with the differences between an elf and a pixie (guilty as charged) and next time he comes you plan to start reading LotR aloud to him (also guilty as hell!)

When the only way that your baby brother will go to sleep is if you tell him the story of The Hobbit.

Even better: I have seen hobbit holes! I'm not kidding! My dad has shown me houses with round doors, and I've seen underground houses, too. (I've never been inside one, though.) Once my friend showed me an underground house that looked very hobbitsy because it was built into a hill. I got very excited.

-When your friend's dog is named Sam and you recite all the Sam lines you can think of to it.
