It was just lucky guessing! :D
But if you want to know how exactly I arrived at this one: I supposed that the second word was probably "are" and the third "the". From there I concluded that the first word might be "these" or "those". I tried several letters starting -tr-----t, and it seemed most likely to me that it was "str---- , and the t at the end led me to think of a superlative. So, "strongest", or "strangest" came to my mind. And, because it's Tolkien, it was probable that /tr---/ would be "trees". The next one, "that" was only logical, and, if the one letter word was "I", as I supposed, "ever I saw" just popped up before my eyes. As this was revealing enough, I could look up the second part of the sentence in the book. Well, here's another one for you to solve: Quote:
