Lament for Boromir

Through Rohan over fen and field where the long grass grows,
The West Wind comes walking, and about the walls it goes.
'What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight?
Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight?'

wilwarin538 07-01-2005 03:15 PM

correct.

Envinyatar 07-13-2005 10:49 AM

Give this a go: :)

. . . As mew upon the wing

DieZel 07-13-2005 01:38 PM

I believe Legolas sang it in a song.
Right?

wilwarin538 07-13-2005 03:41 PM

From helm to sea they saw him leap,
As arrow from the string,
And dive into the water deep,
As mew upon the wing.

The Song of Nimrodel sung by Legolas.

DieZel, you were right, but you need to say the name of the song plus who sang it. it also looks like some people got used to finishing the line or putting more of the song, feel free to do that. Welcome to the downs, I hope to see you in this thread some more.

Envinyatar 07-13-2005 04:44 PM

Right you are! Carry on!

Dimturiel 07-27-2005 11:46 AM

Isn't anyone going to answer? :(

Evisse the Blue 08-10-2005 03:51 AM

Farewell sweet earth and northern sky,
for ever blest, since here did lie
and here with lissom limbs did run
beneath the Moon, beneath the Sun
Lúthien Tinúviel
more fair than Mortal tongue can tell.
Though all to ruin fell the world
and were dissolved and backward hurled;
unmade into the old abyss
yet were its making good, for this -
the dusk, the dawn, the earth, the sea
that Lúthien for a time should be

*sniff* Beren's poem to Luthien. Beautiful :)

Dimturiel 08-10-2005 11:40 AM

Evisse the Blue 08-10-2005 02:26 PM

Thanks! :)

Here's a new one:

"...your voice is stilled...'

Dimturiel 08-11-2005 10:53 AM

Bregalad's lament to the rowans:
"O rowan dead, upon your head your hair is dry and grey;
Your crown is spilled, your voice is stilled for ever and a day.
O Orofarne, Lassemista, Carnimirie! "

Evisse the Blue 08-11-2005 01:00 PM

Yes, that's the one, Dimturiel, your turn! :)

Dimturiel 08-12-2005 10:40 AM

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 11:28 AM

Two months, and no one has even bothered to try to answer. Why? :( Here, I'll give you more:The trembling starlight of the skies.

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 11:40 AM

Song of Beren and Lúthien

As Beren looked into her eyes
Within the shadows of her hair,
The trembling starlight of the skies
He saw there mirrored shimmering.
Tinúviel the elven-fair,
Immortal maiden elven-wise,
About him cast her shadowy hair
And arms like silver glimmering.

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 11:42 AM

Well done :) . Go ahead.

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 11:46 AM

thanks.

Thy starlight on. . .

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 12:06 PM

The Elves' song to Elbereth:
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
We still remember, we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas.

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 12:09 PM

Your right.

The thread is yours.

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 12:18 PM

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 12:28 PM

Why do thy kinsfolk wander afar?

I belive it is frome Galadriel's Messages, but i am not sure.

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 12:39 PM

Yes, that's the one, Rune.

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 12:46 PM

Dimturiel 10-03-2005 12:57 PM

Gimli's song about Moria from Durin's time:
With golden roof and silver floor,
And runes of power upon the door.

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-03-2005 12:59 PM

Yes The Song of Durin's Awakening it is.

Dimturiel 10-04-2005 11:20 AM

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-05-2005 04:21 AM

Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning,
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Song About Riders of Rohan

Dimturiel 10-05-2005 12:16 PM

Yes, you are right, you can go on. But I think you need to say who sung it, also. :)

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-08-2005 05:34 PM

Sorry. I totaly forgot . . . :(

Was it not Aragorn who sung it. I cannot remember. . .
