No... i killed it. :( Oh, well! On to others! Thank you all and come again!

(Fear not, Ka, revival happens.)
Now that the movies are over: I can safely say my husband is over LOTR. Actually, he was kind of over it after TTT, but he's really over it now. He wishes I was too. |
Ah, don't worry! My friends think that my boromir craze is a little scary but, at least I have those to laugh about it with. On the Barrowdowns, of course...

What always was, always will be...
That's how it is for me. However, a few friends became Tolkien fans after seeing the films, and I feel quite certain that they will remain fans. One was sceptical to the point of mocking the very idea of his ever reading LotR, but now has finished the Sil (pronouncing it "biblical"), UT, and is on to Tom Bombadil. Another is an artist and she claims her whole style of painting has altered since reading the books. I'm hoping any 'craze' never really goes away, as I like being able to find people almost anywhere who are willing/able to discuss my very favourite thing in the world. Once the craze dies down in the public eye, however, I am rather hoping that there will be many collectables up for sale at knockdown prices, which I shall add to the colections in my own personal Mathom House. ;) |
An Artist you say?
Wow, and i thought i was alone. That's awsome that your friend changed her artistic viewpoint, makes me feel a little more among others. I haven't came to the point though of summiting my art to the BD, proably because, i don't know how...
Good idea with the collectibles... there is a sci-fi and fantasy book/collectible store down the way from where i live. I've noticed that the store's been recieveing alot of supplies from people. Hmmm... maybe i'll go check it out later. ;) If i'm lucky, i'll find a boromir life-size cardboard cut-out. The only ones i've seen so far are all those Legolas ones... makes me mad. ~ka~ |
I was just thinking of making a thread about this topic when I saw this one. I personally think it's going to die down with the fair-weather fans (until a Hobbit movies is made). These fans will flock to other films such as King Kong, Spiderman, Superman, etc. True Tolkien fans will continue to remain loyal forever. Those are the fans that love the books, his created world and everythijng related to it, including interpretations such as the Peter Jackson films.

The Sermon according to a Book reader
Before The Films, There was The Book and The Book was good. When The Films had died The Book was still good, and the people all cried what shall we do now, and the answer came back, read The Book that is good, for therein thou shalt find greater wisdom, Oh people thinketh thee, that this Good Book was all, for there are many Good Books, and the people rejoiced, and great wisdom was given to those who read The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales and all the wonders of The Histories was shown to the people and they were content (for a while).
