I understand your point, but I took the liberty of comparing the movie, soundtrack, and sheet music versions and found them to be all in the same key signature. There aren't multiple editions considering the easy key signature the movie version is in. I'm not trying to trick anyone here ...but seeing how no one seems to be getting this, I'll give the answer. The key has one sharp, indicating G major, but it begins and ends on a minor triad, which tells us that it has to be in a minor key, so it is in the key of E MINOR! (c'mon guys, relative minor, three half-steps down...)

Mithisilien 04-09-2004 02:33 PM

Oh yeah, new question. What singer is featured in the song "Breath of Life"?

symestreem 04-09-2004 07:50 PM

Ms. Sheila Chandra, I believe.

Mithisilien 04-09-2004 10:00 PM

You are indeed correct.

Mithisilien 04-15-2004 06:57 PM

*pokes symestreem*

symestreem 04-19-2004 11:17 AM

Meep!!!

OK, OK, that was a justified poke. The Killer Rabbit will remain in his cage.

Lesse... when Gandalf's wagon was traveling over the bridge in Hobbiton, what instrument was used in that part of the score but later removed?

The half-elven 04-20-2004 06:06 PM

Um...was it the Norwegian Fiddle?

symestreem 04-20-2004 06:44 PM

Nope. The Norwegian fiddle was used in the Two Towers.

The half-elven 04-20-2004 06:48 PM

Ooops, I mean the regular fiddle AKA the violin.

symestreem 04-22-2004 07:59 PM

Nope. It can be found in "The Making of the Movie Trilogy.", in the score section.

Lindir 04-25-2004 07:40 AM

The musette? (French accordion)

symestreem 04-25-2004 12:15 PM

Just the regular accordian, actually. Go ahead.

Lindir 04-25-2004 04:13 PM

(This'll test you.)

What NZ war chant did the Uruk-Hai stuntees do between takes of Helm's Deep?
(Hint: It's on the Special Extended 2 Towers. "Warriors of the 3rd Age" or something like that.)

symestreem 04-25-2004 06:33 PM

Something about turning off the rain tower?

Lindir 04-26-2004 02:29 PM

Nope. It's a title.

But I'm gonna change the question because it doesn't have that much to do with the music. Should I just do that?

symestreem 04-26-2004 04:03 PM

Maori haka?

Lindir 04-27-2004 03:01 PM

Oh..no need.Yup. You got it right . The Maori Haka. :p

The half-elven 04-29-2004 08:05 PM

I want to buy a Norwegian Hardinger Fiddle. Where can I get one?

symestreem 04-29-2004 08:13 PM

What is the first instrument heard on "The King of the Golden Hall" and "Evenstar"? (It's not the same one.) Second part is a trick question!

The half-elven 04-29-2004 08:16 PM

Sorry, This is not a quiz question...=) I'm looking for a hardanger Fiddle. Does anybody know where I can get a Hardanger Fiddle, or a better place to look for one?

Thanks!

The Saucepan Man 04-29-2004 08:57 PM

Welcome to the Downs, the half-elven. :)

Since this forum is for Quiz Games, we tend to avoid general discussion here. You'd probably be better off raising your question on one of the threads dealing with the film scores in the Movies forum.

Why not try this one: Lord of the Rings Soundtracks: Discuss

Now, back to the game ...

The half-elven 04-30-2004 04:56 AM

Sorry About that...

Is it Frenchhorn and then voice (Isabel Bayakdarian)?

symestreem 04-30-2004 01:57 PM

I'm not sure if it's a French horn. "Horn" and "voice" was what I was looking for. Take the thread, and welcome to the Downs!

The half-elven 04-30-2004 02:21 PM

Okay, When is the Minas Tirith theme first introduced?

symestreem 05-02-2004 05:34 PM

When Gandalf visits in the first movie?

The half-elven 05-03-2004 05:26 AM

Um, you mean in the Shire?...No. Try again.

Lindir 05-03-2004 02:30 PM

At Rivendell in the 1st movie?

The half-elven 05-03-2004 02:40 PM

So close, but can you be more precise?

symestreem 05-03-2004 04:13 PM

When Boromir talks of his father, the steward of Gondor, during the Council Meeting?

The half-elven 05-03-2004 06:18 PM

You got it, Symestreem! Take the floor.

symestreem 05-03-2004 06:57 PM

It was a lucky guess, really

I'm going to give the thread to Lindir. I just piggypacked off of his (correct) answer, and I feel guilty about that. Lindir, the thread is yours!!

Lindir 05-04-2004 02:28 PM

OH! That's so nice! :p

OK: What instrument did was used for one of Gollum's themes, and was also used in The Shire?

symestreem 05-04-2004 07:43 PM

He/she's stumped us precious, yes indeed...

Wait! Could it be... the cimbalon?

Sounds like a foreign pastry... ;)

Lindir 05-05-2004 02:38 PM

nope. but that does sound like a pastry...im hungry. :p
