My trogdor avvie hunt has ended for now!
|
...what...is...that...thing??
|
Gil-Galad changed me by getting me back into Homestar Runner after a long absence.
Morsul: That, my friend is Trogdor the dragon! |
Sure why not...Its weirder than your last one Gil....
|
|
Sorry H-I
H-I is very responsible and should be a Moderator thats why he changed me hes so on top of things around here |
I've just been reading through this, and stalking Morsul of course! ;) Thank you for mentioning me Morsul and you have yet to dissapoint.
So many of you wonderful BDer's have changed me I don't know where to begin, thank you for all the fun times and tantalizing discussions. :D Imladris Morsul The Dark Pio Eomer of the Rohirrim (I'm so tempted to check out the Warg and the Warg Rider Appreciation Thread) And all of you that have ever said anything nice about me, I know I'm forgetting so many people. |
Ah, I've helped change Saraphim and Eswen...*whispers* I changed Esgallhugwen by giving her her wonderful nickname...blast it...that was Corn that did that...*cough* Corn = RPG character that was a raven.
No seriously guys, I'm glad that I could be of service. *bows in dwarvish fashion* I'd like to thank mark12_30 for helping me with my writing. *thumbs up* *another bow* |
Morsul, you are unfamiliar with Trogdor the Burninator? I'm so hurt... Very nice though, Gil-galad.
On topic: people who have, in the short term, changed me, did not necessarily change me as a whole, but today (happy birthday to me) have changed my mood drastically. I was slightly upset that my friends all had to work today and so we couldn't go out tonight as I'd planned, but when I got online and saw a bizillion PMs, my mood took an upturn, and after that (surely through coincidence, but still) my day got far more interesting. So thank you Eomer, HerenIstarion, Mithalwen, Rinfan, Saphy, and Morsul for brightening my mood and giving me a nice bonus to an already great day. Edit: also thanks to Sirith. Fea |
so I made you happy then brought you down with my lack of knowledge :p Im sorry im not much help

Back to topic at hand: Being at daggers drawn with much esteemed red, her hard-edged, straigth-out way of rebuking your [than un]humble servant made the latter see a lot of foolery he may have been accused of and arrogance he has been indulging himself in. |
burrahobbit changed me by forcing me to set up a church in his honour. (slight exaggeration but you get the idea)
Every single person who has posted on this thread has changed me by making me very happy that people are posting on my thread! Cheers! :D |
I'm very happy to make you happy Eomer And yes my lovely nickname did come from Corn, I'll never forget that bird I love Ravens, but back to the subject.
Carry on *shoos people away* |
Oh Esgal, there's nothing you wouldn't do for me! :)
|
Yes I'm a very loyal, self-sacrificing person. Of course I do think I'll draw the line by not jumping off any high precipice for you, other than that I'm basically yours Eomer ;) :)
|
Can you feel the love? It was my sole intention to create a total hippy love-fest with this thread. :D
|
Free love and peace man puts on ti-di shirt yeah man I feel the love what an awesome room. Eomer changed me because i envy his karge group of Parmahil... or stalkers if you will
|
Oh, don't be envious, Morsul, Esga and I stalk you too! I'm pretty much stalker happy - I stalk almost every active member at least once. :D
littlemanpoet started the "Are you Writing Fantasy" thread, for which I'm very thankful. It got me writing again, and I'm going strong! :) Of course, I'm thankful to many more people too, but that's the only specific one I can think of now. |
yay fangirls/stalkers :D
Perky changed me by inviting me to a RPG :D should be fun |
I'm personally more on the Stalker side, they have a more serious presence about them whereas fangirls are just jumpy and spazzy and run around screaming (not at all professional).
Which RPG are you going to play in Morsul? Maybe I'll have to stalk you there and see what you post! ;) Edit: I found you Morsul I took a guess, I'm psycho, err, psychic afterall! :p |
Thanks Sirith, you reminded me to thank littlemanpoet as well!
He's changed me by his dedication to writing, and to helping small (e.g: myself)writers get better. |
I'm somewhere inbetween stalker and fangirl...likes to be noticed, but not jumpy and drooly.

Several BDers have affected me.
A few have radically altered my life. Cami, you dragged me (kicking) into my first-ever RPG and pushed me into writing The Fairy Wife. You opened up a latent gift that I didn't quite know I had, and I've never been the same since. Birdland-- a certain dolphin has a special place in my heart. I owe you my title, did you know that? Wonder happens; the abyss is a beautiful place. Birdie changed Lindo (and so Phura; ), Lindo & Phura changed me. Do the math. ;) Lush, you made me laugh over eyeliner; and like Movie-Sam, you hollered and reached as I dangled over the Sammath Naur, and dragged me out. Thanks. Esty and Mith-- thanks for welcoming me back. The Tapestry Team: littlemanpoet, Imladris, Orual, Aylwen, Nurumaiel, Alaklondewen-- What an adventure you've led me on. I love each of you for it. Your friendship has been a blessing, your cameraderie a joy, and your plot twists a challenge. You guys are the best. Heren-Istarion-- kept me going after a setback. Gift of encouragement? I'd say so. Persistently. Speaking of "Wonder Happens": lmp, remember that eucatastrophe thread? Yeah. That too. |
Wow! There's a lift-me-up! Thanks to each of you who mentioned me! I don't know some of you half as well as I'd like, and I know half of you half as well as I...... *cough* ..... well, anyway, :D thanks very much to mark for letting me know about this thread. And thanks to Saraphim who I know a little, & Sirithheruwen who I don't know yet but would like to.
mark gets my thanks for inviting me to join the Tapestry story from the early stages. It has been a cool springfed oasis. Child's warmth and erudition are a rare combination, making me think and feel at the same time. That's unique. Lush hasn't heard from me in a while, but her great sense of humor could be counted on. dininziliel challenged me in ways of the spirit. All the special friends at Are You Writing Serious Fantasy have had a profound impact on me: Nar, Saxony Tarn, dragongirlg, the guy who be short, and others whom I can't remember off the top of my head and wish I could. I could go on and on. Great thread! |
Littlemanpoet's siggy just brightened my day! :D And the day needed brightening. So thanks!
|
That is one cool sig from LMP and I don't know if I've mentioned it but all the BDers who have ever played in an RP with me have changed me LMP for one because he made me want to write better or at least as well as I can write!

^up
My thanks go out to the phantom, for providing me with an excellent quote to live by:

I'd also like to give props to some of the Chat-Wights: Eponine, for always prividing a laugh, and for teaching me profound respect for the range of a Southern rifle, and to all of the Nuts. Fea(nut) |
Glad I could improve your vocabulary, Fea. :D
|
There are a lot of people who have changed me here. The RPGs have helped me as a writer and as a team player so much...I'd like to send a big thank-you to Child of the 7th Age and piosenniel who helped me get into the RPG's, and much love to mark 12_30, Imladris, Nurumaiel, Aylwen, littlemanpoet, and everybody else on the Tapestry team. You've all been such blessings.

I was thinking yesterday about how much time I have spent on this site over the past couple years. If you added it all up I don't know how much it would be- but I know it'd be a whole lot.
People don't spend their free time doing things they don't enjoy, so obviously I enjoy coming here. But why? If it's just to practice typing then there's plenty of other things I could do instead. If it's just because I think green characters on a black background is cool then I should just download a Matrix screen-saver and stare at it. If it's just to talk about Tolkien I could just talk to my friends or my dad, or join some other Tolkien site. So..... I guess it must be my fellow members. The Barrow-Wight and the rest of the administration- I would just like to say "Thank you, thank you, thank you." Obviously this site would not exist without you. And BW is very funny for a big, mean, thread-closing man in green. And all the mods deserve a pat on the back for the job they do, like Esty in the Chapter-by-Chapter section. Then there's all those members who've been around as long as (or longer than) me, like Davem, Beth, Child, and.... you know who you are. Members who join and don't leave is what makes me feel, how would I say it, at home when I visit the Downs. And of course, there's all the members that I have debated with and against time and time again in the books over the years like Kuru, Legolas, Maedhros, Boromir88, and others. One of these "others" would be The Saucepan Man. SP has impressed me many times with his good sense of humor, shrewd observations, and ability to debate rough and tough but still remain friendly. And don't forget about Squatter. I haven't seen him in an age but who could possibly forget his posts. He was top notch. I don't come to the Barrow-Downs just to be serious. I enjoy smiling as well, and two Downers that have made me smile quite a bit are Diamond and burra. Intelligent posts are great, but intelligent posts that make you laugh are even better. And how could I not mention Lush, someone you want to kiss one minute and strangle the next. She is.... well, she's just Lush. Then there's Feanor of the Peredhil. A delightful young lady... but obviously too nice... I don't think anyone else would put up with my constant stream of pm babble. I can't possibly list every member of the Downs that pops into my head (even the great phantom must go to class occasionally), so to everyone I didn't name- the phantom is glad you are a member. |

Another thank you that I hadn't gotten around to yet is to Aman. Our own dear Innkeeper has managed to suck me into RPGing through a PM continuation of The Gauntlet Tavern. I even posted in The Green Dragon! So thanks also to you, Aman, and may your blades stay sharp, your rag clean, and your sais golden. ;) Fea |
Ah ,I am a changed person since I have been a regular member on the Barrowdowns .
I thank Pio for her guidance on my first Green Dragon post ,and several other forums. Imladris for helping me plan my RPG . Nuranar helping me improve my writing skills. And ALL the other BDers who changed my life. And lastly The Phantom for my new Signature. |
I've noticed a dramatic improvement in the quality of my writing (most especially poetry) since I joined here. I'm inclined to attribute that to the wonderful writing quality generally found here.
|
I certainly agree with you, Leny. I've become so nitpicky about grammar now from trying to make my posts sound intelligent. :p I correct my sister and even my friends without thinking... I think I irritate them a bit. Hah.
And, I learned a brilliant word here that's fun to say and watch people look confused: verisimilitude. Or even better, verisimilitudinous. Just say one of them if you ever feel stupid, and you'll suddenly feel smart again. I swear. :smokin: |
I have also recently noticed how much I've been analyzing everything (well, almost everything) I read since the CbC started. We've been taking Dante's Inferno for English class and I found myself trying to make connections between the Citadel there (has seven battlements), and, naturally, Minas Tirith. So now I feel smarter than ever, thanks in part to the people who post in the CbC threads. But I'll have to try saying verisimilitude or verisimilitudinous...if I get around to knowing what they mean. ;)

Thanks for the link, Encaitare... :)
|
Ever since I saw that post I have been incorporating the word verisimilitudinous into my everyday conversations. It's great, thanks very much! :)
|
*bows* Glad to do my part. See, doesn't it make you feel smarter? ;)
|
Well, I already feel exceptionally smart at most times. This just lets other people know it. ;)
