The elven-smith who reforges Narsil.

IMO he leaves Figwit in the ashes.

Nukapei 01-06-2005 01:14 PM

I just thought of another! The completely random Rohirrim dude that walks by with a greyhound in RotK when they're all standing around in Meduseld trying to decide what to do. I've always thought that part hilarious, because they're all serious and "we've won the battle, now we have to decide how to win the war," and this guy just walks by with a dog. Wierd sense of humor, I guess.

I like the old Hobbit who is constantly sweeping the path outside his home. I know he's not really an invention per se, but still...
Ah, that's a good one. And while we're on the topic of hobbits who probably aren't exactly invented, I'll cast one of my votes for the hobbit that interrupts a promising moment to grab a cupcake & stuff it in his mouth in FotR :D.
I'd also have to say Lurtz, if only because he's the only guy I know that can get both his right arm & his head chopped off without losing a drop of blood ;).

I agree, but my favourite Rohirrim are 1) When the Uruk-hai and Orcs carrying Merry and Pippin are attacked there's this one guy who rides past and does this rerally spiffy thing with heis bow, and 2) after the Warg Attack they do a litle panning-type shot and this guy just rises out of the hill and stabs something.

Oh, and 3) one of the Orcs at Helm's Deep waving the flag around like he's never had one before, he just looks so funny!

I would have loved to see Imrahil in the RoTK EE and maybe even "Old Forlong the fat." One of my favorite chapters in the book was "Minas Tirith" the part at the end where Pippin and Bergil watch the men from the outlying areas march into Minas Tirith, and it would have been cool if that had made the cut.

Question, was that Ted Sandyman in the Green Dragon in the Fellowship EE?

Shameless namedropping.......

The ranger of Gondor played by Royd Tolkien ..... well he was the only one to send me Christmas greetings..... :D

The young sad-eyed dark-haired beauty watching I assume her beloved ride off to his death with Faramir.

And I like Madril as I used his outfit, and one of an exhausted Ithilien Ranger in the background at Henneth Annûn as a model.

I liked Lurtz too. :D

Faramir 02-17-2005 09:13 AM

I like the guy who takes Hama's place in tt...when theoden says "...draw your swords" he looks like he just got kicked in the face.

I also like the hobbit in Fotr ee, he picks his ear and he cant get the "stuff" off his finger..and then they come back to another scene of him and hes still trying to get it off.

Thinlómien 02-17-2005 09:17 AM

The old hobbit man with an angry, younger wife. That nice round-headed, gray-haired fat little fellow appears in both FotR and RotK.
And then the dark-haired elf-guy who is companying Arwen, when she changes her mind and rides back to Rivendell.
And Peter Jackson's children are best, wherever they are... :) They're so cute.

Maeggaladiel 02-17-2005 10:49 AM

HUZZAH FOR RANDOM HOBBIT CHILDREN! Who couldn't love those random nameless hobbit lads and lasses chasing after Gandalf, listening to Bilbo's stories and generally being random children? Not I!

Faramir 02-17-2005 12:41 PM

jacksons kids are in minas tirith too, there watching faramir leave on his "suicide charge"

Milady Revenwyn 02-18-2005 03:56 PM

I'm going with who I know as "The third orc on the left" in one of the Isengard scenes. You know, the one who chokes to death?
Just love that scene. :P

Thinlómien 03-02-2005 07:14 AM

You should ask my friends... We watched all the EE's after each other (it took about 11 hours) and I noticed a cute baby in Helm's deep. Every time I see my friends they remind me of the baby. Ridiculous! The baby appeared just for few seconds and I said he was cute - and how big noise about him. (My new babyboyfriend - you see ;) ) Anyways he's my favorite.

Faramir 03-02-2005 08:21 PM

Ive think noticed this baby too is the mother holding him or her?

Sharpis Corbis 04-04-2005 08:06 PM

Wait. That elf with the hair blowing around at the start of FotR, can't be Legolas father. Because wasn't that the same elf that looked up at Frodo during TTT, when Frodo falls in the pool at the Dead Marshes? I always thought it might be Gil-
Galad.

Cibbwin 04-09-2005 04:27 AM

I like Morwen, the woman who sent her children to Edoras. She was so pretty!

Snowdog 04-22-2005 12:54 PM

Lets see....

-Of the Rohirrim, the guy who gets ale kicked all over him when Merry & Pip are drunk dancing on the table.

-Of the Gondorians, the sad dark-haired woman who watched as (I assume) her husband rode to his death with Faramir.

-Of the orcs... in Mordor it was the one in Minas Morgul that was outside and was suprised when the orc corpse falls in front of him.

-Of the orcs... in Isengard it has to be the one who "birthed" Lurtz and was crushed to death.

-Of the Hobbits it was the one laughing and hanging on the keg.

And of course that carrot munching man in Bree who didn't have enough sense to get in out of a dounpour. :smokin:

Memory of Trees 05-05-2005 11:44 AM

My fav character from PJ's imagination would have to be the adorable little archer orc in the Mines of Moria. His name is Wallace, and I have adopted him. *grins*

Imrahil 05-06-2005 02:58 PM

I like the orc in TTT who wanted to eat Merry and Pippen..."What about them? They're fresh..."

Bungo Baggins 06-03-2005 09:24 AM

I agree with the posters who mentioned the old hobbit sweeping the path outside his door. Although he is likely a composite of characters, he is priceless and makes me smile everytime I watch it.

He's in the cast list as Odo Proudfoot, and indeed 'tis him who delivers the immortal line "Proudfeet!". :D

mormegil 06-03-2005 10:18 AM

Some of my favorites are orcs...There is the one who at the siege at Minas Tirith shouts "Catapults" and the other who at Osgiliath makes that call (analogous to the raptor call in Jurrasic Park) that is unintelligible but it's what I consider to be the orc mating call.

I guess I just like those voices on the two orcs.

thats funny - you reminded me about the time I sent Ian McKellen an email way early - like 1998 - via his webpage. I sent it not expecting a reply - but i was very complimentary and kissy kissy with a lot of questions pertaining to Gandalf. I was sent a reply a few days later:

"David,
Greetings from Bag End"

Not sure if it was a canned response (anyone else?), but I thought it was very cool at the time.

Orominuialwen 06-06-2005 08:25 PM

I rather like that random hobbit carrying the pumpkin in the scene in the Green Dragon at the end of RotK. He looks a bit like Andy Serkis.

Eledhewin Ilanora 06-07-2005 01:03 AM

My choice would be the young boy aka newly appointed helms deep soldier in TTT who was holding a sword when Aragorn approached him. After a few swing, Arogorn ensure him that it is a good sword.

In few minutes that boy reflects everything the people in helms deep facing..hope, anxiety, fear, bravery, doubtfulness etc etc.

That boy played his part very well..

mormegil 06-07-2005 08:33 AM

I believe his name is Haleth though I'm not 100% certain.

Great point though.

Kitanna 06-12-2005 08:47 PM

I love those two kids from Rohan who have to say good-bye to their mother. It makes me so sad, but then they meet again at Helm's Deep and that makes me happy.
