Oh, she wouldn't admit it to you.

But at night, when she's alone in the dark, she pulls the covers over her head and trembles, fearing that once again her dreams will be invaded by Phantom-Wolf.

The Phantom of the Barrow-Downs is there... inside her mind.

Lariren Shadow 01-04-2009 03:28 PM

So I find it ironic that I finished singing two songs from Phantom in my voice lessons last semester and you quote one.

And I have a question for you, because I've seen your avatar before, and I was wondering where its from. I have a theory. And yes I realize there was no question mark in that sentence.

And yes in the dark of the night I will possibly slightly cower with fear.

the phantom 01-04-2009 03:40 PM

The avatar question... When I joined, I needed an avatar. So I searched for "avatars". I found thousands. I scrolled through them looking for the one. The one that would scream "pick me!".

I found it.

So there you go. Don't you love stories with happy endings?

Very nice.

Mmm... I like you so far.

the phantom 01-04-2009 03:47 PM

TGWBS? Eomer? Cailin?

Wow. Old school reunion here. Now all we need is Kuru and Ang to return.

Oh, and Boro- I say we only talk to each other the entire game.

And there are filibusters, right?

But... but... what about me?

the phantom 01-04-2009 04:40 PM

As soon as Boro's dead I'll talk to you.

If we go to plan and only talk to each other, the village will likely be annoyed, and the Wolves will fear a deadly alliance, so he will probably be lynched Day 1 or killed Night 2.

So it'll only be for one day. After that I'll speak exclusively to you.

After you're gone I'll spend all my time talking to the Mod-Goddess. Because really, once you and Boro are gone, what's left to discuss in the village?

Feanor of the Peredhil 01-04-2009 05:16 PM

Fair enough.

Of course I intend to spend my lifetime amusing Mith.

Brinniel 01-04-2009 11:52 PM

Ooh, I see tgwbs has joined for the first time in just about forever. :)

But tp and Boro in another game together...should I dare join? So long as neither are the seer again. :p

Sign me up as a mezzo-soprano...and I think I'll be from Harad.

Mithalwen 01-05-2009 06:12 AM

I think that is going to be plenty..splendid ..will send roles this afternoon... can Gollum and Sally confirm participation?

And Fea..explain to your chum about Lab rats :D

Right I think this is the list subject to a couple or personal invitations and confirmations

Satansaloser?, soprano
Lariren , soprano, Ithilien
Feanor of the Peredhil, Belfalas (mezzo-)soprano
Ilya, mezzo-soprano, vales of Anduin.
Brinniel, mezzo-soprano, Harad
Kath contralto
Aganzir, Minas Tirith contralto
Gwathagor (Gwathagorio), lyric tenor/spinto
Shastanis Althreduin (tenor leggierio / lyric tenor)
Nogrod (typically indicisive - anywhere between lyric and buffo - or baritone )
The Phantom (typically versatile and with great range)
Meneltarmacil - baritone err Nazgul from Minal Morgul
Strongbow, Bowissimo of Lossarnach
Macalaure (Barney Broadbottle), a Bree-lander from Staddle, Baritone
Gollum the Great? - bass-baritone
TGWBS - bass, woodwose,
Boromir 88 basso profundo, Rohan
Cailineomer, trouser role, Forodwaith

Any omissions or additions of location voice type please flag.

This won't be a completely standard game - I will have a couple of variants on the roles but basically it should be 3 wolves, cobbler and assorted others depending on final numbers .... though they will have other names. :D

Macalaure 01-05-2009 06:55 AM

Would you add my voice and name and all that? :)

Mithalwen 01-05-2009 07:03 AM

Sorry I thinkI was too impressed by your bravery to take it in ... great to have you. And are you of the big folk or little of Bree?

Yes ma'am. She's lived vicariously through a few of my games, and has played elsewhere on the web, but never with anyone as cool as us. I'll let her know (once her plane comes back in contact with earth) that she's your slave until she dies.

We live to serve, O Lovely Moddess...

the guy who be short 01-05-2009 07:44 AM

Seeing as my previous request to be a Dunlander hasn't been put on that list, could I be a Drúadan instead (aka Wose, Wild man of the woods, Púkel-man; thank you Wikipedia)?

I think it should follow that I am a bass.

And yes... Mith talked me into it, and I am on holidays so I had no real excuse to refuse.

Boromir88 01-05-2009 07:49 AM

Oh my, what have I gotten myself into here...

Quote:

That would actually make an interesting game...I wonder how long it would take before the village agrees to ignore us, yet still feel the need to talk to us. :p

But, I have to say not this time, there's so many new faces and so many others I haven't WWed with a long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. :D

Nogrod 01-05-2009 10:17 AM

Well this is looking absolutely fabulous! Good to see all of you, especially tgwbs & cailineomer for it has been some time since you played the last time.

So a place... I could be from the Old Forest.

Mithalwen 01-05-2009 10:44 AM

Roles are out.

Game thread will be up tomorrow morning. Day one starts by 6pm GMT

Walter Plinge (Cobbler/sneak) and seer send me your picks.

Critics (Wolves) talk.

Rest wonder ;)

PM me as necessary.

Gollum the Great 01-05-2009 02:06 PM

If it's not to late, can I be from Isengard?

I must mention that my first couple days will only have a post or two. A little busy presently.

satansaloser2005 01-05-2009 10:31 PM

My dear mod goddess, feel free to place me wherever you care to make me from. But I'd rather like to be a hobbit, being short and all. :D

(Also, feel free to list me as Sally, if you like. Up to you, though, of course.)

Mithalwen 01-06-2009 05:58 AM

Okey dokey... will havemore details up soonish.

Um I was unexpectedly Miss Popular on the PM front - despite celaring a good amoun tof space, I know a few of you din't get through . Should be ok now :)

Mithalwen 01-06-2009 07:14 AM

Please Read

I have placed a summary of the mechanics of the game in an EDIT of the first game of this thread for easy reference.

This is the largest game I have modded so I hope that 3 wolves and one cobbler is enough enemy for a game of 18 players .... with slightly unusual gifteds

Not to late to add a cursed or guardian if there is a sense they are needed

I will allow retractable votes but they should not be used frivolously - offenders will be modfired.

Inclined to allow perhaps a double lynching but no higher - I don't want mad schemes - thoughts?

If not I shall decide as I see fit......

Otherwise the scenario will be completed in time for a 6pm GMT start.

Satansaloser, soprano
Lariren , soprano, Ithilien
Feanor of the Peredhil, Belfalas (mezzo-)soprano
Ilya, mezzo-soprano, vales of Anduin.
Brinniel, mezzo-soprano, Harad
Kath contralto
Aganzir, Minas Tirith contralto
Gwathagor (Gwathagorio), lyric tenor/spinto
Shastanis Althreduin (tenor leggierio / lyric tenor)

Gollum the Great - bass-baritone
TGWBS - bass, woodwose,
Boromir 88 basso profundo, Rohan
Cailineomer, trouser role, Forodwaith

Please let me know if I have missed your location preferences else I shall make summat up...

Ilya 01-07-2009 12:47 PM

Since you said to put it in the admin thread...

Here's the voter recount, as best as I can reckon, given the number of retractions at the last minute. I counted everything that went before you posted, o moddess, but another person had better recheck my math before the curtain goes down on somebody.

Menel - 6
Nog - 5
Ilya - 2
Wild Man - 1
Strongbow - 1
Sally - 1

Feanor of the Peredhil 01-07-2009 12:49 PM

I just went through the entire thread and:

It is a double lynch between Nog and Menel

UNLESS

you count Sally's one-minute-after-deadline retraction.

In which case it's Menel.

Your call, Miss Moddess.

the phantom 01-07-2009 12:54 PM

Let's just have a do-over.

You know. Just do Day 1 again. Start now?

Mithalwen 01-07-2009 12:55 PM

Yes I make it that..... hmmm

Boromir88 01-07-2009 12:56 PM

You know what's funny, for about half the day I was thinking about who I wanted as a representative.

the phantom 01-07-2009 12:58 PM

Ha, ha, Boro!

I know what you mean. We were spoiled by those extra long Days. As today was wrapping up I was thinking no, no, it can't be over already!

Feanor of the Peredhil 01-07-2009 01:01 PM

I would have voted Mith as my rep. :Merisu:

A game of Mafia I played once had a Day 1 deadline of six weeks.

Mithalwen 01-07-2009 01:03 PM

The moddess has decided .. the judgement will be posted on the game thread.

Kath 01-11-2009 11:36 AM

Mith, we in no way intended to upset or hurt you. What we did we intended as a silly joke! Just something to make you laugh when you opened the thread. Did you play in that game where Bethberry randomly popped up as a cameo and some people jokingly voted for her? That was the idea behind this. It wasn't a plot to derail the game, it wasn't a plan to ruin it, the fact that we were talking together had no bearing on the outcome of the game because nobody mentioned a role.

Basically, this genuinely wasn't deliberately malicious at all. Had we known it would upset you we would never, never have done it.

Mithalwen 01-11-2009 11:41 AM

For me

it is the off thread discussion - as well as the specific ban that make this situation untenable. It is so grossly unfair on tho others. Now I kniow it was premeditated I thinkIeither have to mod fire the lot of youor pull the plug onteh game. It breaks the trust that surrounds the game.

At least Bethberry was actually there and I took the consequence of my vote for her in Fea's mystery game.

I have spent literally years thinking about this game and now it is all it tatters.

Feanor of the Peredhil 01-11-2009 11:54 AM

You should know that the only werewolf discussion in that chat was about games in the past. Nostalgic reminiscing about the first time we were wolves, or 'Do you remember that time that-?' or 'Do you remember the gae when-?". The idea to vote Legate came after no discussion of the current game apart from, "Wow, half of the village is in this chat right now." Most of our conversation actually centered around trying to convince the phantom that Shasta was Lari, and discussions of fortune cookies.

We did not discuss this game at all in terms of mechanics, roles, or strategies because the game is in play.

The vote for Legate was a silly prank which we hoped would bring about laughs, but it had no basis in the structure or play of this game.

I do hope that you decide to let us continue, as the joke was in no way intended to mock or hurt anybody, especially you, and because the discussion of the build up to the joke did not violate game rules.

If any one person must take the blame for the actions of others, let it be me. I will be no loss, and mine was the last word that determined the decision to go ahead with the scheme.

They hadn't decided on anything until I arrived.

If nothing else, please don't allow our foolishness to ruin the game for those who were not involved in it. The phantom, for instance, was not part of the plan, and posted after we did. He should therefore not be held accountable for our actions.

Please forgive us the hurt we have caused you, and please understand that it was not intended to in any way cause you to believe that we would break the rules of your game, or that we would try to intentionally throw it off track.

Kath 01-11-2009 11:55 AM

Mith I am truly sorry that this has upset you, please hold on to the fact that it was never our intention to do so. It was a joke, a silly joke - no trust has been broken because we didn't mention the actual game, the roles, the rules, the players, none of it. I can PM you the entire IM discussion if you would like and you will see that at no point did we do anything to alter the fundamental idea of the game that everyone has to work things out for themselves.

We never, never intended to mess up your game, it truly was just supposed to be something silly to make you laugh.

satansaloser2005 01-11-2009 12:00 PM

Again, I apologize if we've upset you. As Fea and Kath said, at no point did we discuss the game amongst ourselves (except when we planned our little stunt) and I also would be happy to PM (or e-mail, or whatever you prefer) you the entire discussion so you can see what transpired.

Lariren Shadow 01-11-2009 12:06 PM

I'm truly sorry for this :(. I never meant anything by voting that way. I wasn't really part of the conversation(as in participating with my own screen name) but I was there with Fea. Nothing came up about roles came up at all. It really was a sort of "why isn't Legate playing...let's vote him off for fun! That should be laugh worthy!" nothing more than that. Well and Shasta was pretending to be me.

Kath 01-11-2009 12:12 PM

Mith, I feel physically sick at the idea that I have hurt you. You know me, you know that I would never deliberately do that to you. I don't care if you modfire me in response to my idiocy, I only hope you forgive me. We didn't mean to hurt you - why on earth would we want to.

Aganzir 01-11-2009 12:13 PM

So so sorry Mith. :(

I agree with everything that has been said - it was not supposed to upset you nor anyone else. I'm truly sorry others have to suffer because of our prank, and at least I'd be happy to be modfired if it means the game can keep going.

edit: xed with Kath & can second her.

Mithalwen 01-11-2009 01:22 PM

I am going to have to sleep on this or try too. Maybe I will see the funny side of half the players having a discussion off thread and ganging up to do the ONE thing I asked you didn't. Maybe I will find someone to take over the modding. I know at least one of the players not involved isn't happy. I can't decide what is fairest.

Brinniel 01-11-2009 02:16 PM

There's not much to add to the explanation than what's already been said. But I do want to extend my apologies. Surely you know that none of us ever intended to hurt or offend you or any of the players that weren't involved. I hate the idea that I have hurt someone and it makes me tearful to know that I have. :(

I understand perfectly if you do choose to modfire all of us. It's ultimately your decision and we deserve whatever you think is fair. However, I do request that you at least keep Lariren in the game. She wasn't part of the chat itself (only simply watching it) and was encouraged by all of us to take part. I'd hate to see her kicked out of her first game because of us. And of course, the phantom must stay; he had nothing to do with this.

I hate to think your game completely destroyed, Mith, and if modfiring all of us will make things even worse, then I hope you will consider otherwise. And I most certainly hope you choose to stay the mod as you have done a wonderful job so far and no one else could do you justice. If you wish to see at least someone modfired, I'll happily remove myself from the game. I feel rather guilty, especially since I invited everyone into the chat in the first place. I never intended for us to discuss WW; I simply wanted to revive the earlier days when I used to chat with several BDers at once. But obviously, things got out of hand. It's apparent now that BDers probably shouldn't be involved in any sort of IM with one another during a WW game as only bad things seem to come from it. After this disaster, I don't think I can bring myself to do anymore chatting anytime soon. And I'm seriously considering abstaining from future WW games as well, I feel so awful.

I could say sorry a hundred more times, but I don't think the words could even begin to express how I truly feel.

Boromir88 01-11-2009 03:39 PM

It doesn't sound like anything that would compromise the game went on. It was a joke, perhaps one in poor taste, but a joke to get some laughs nonetheless. I would hate to see so many great and fun players booted after this. It probably wasn't thought out well, and looks more like a group of singers who wanted to give you a good show, not to cause anyone harm, or to grab an unfair advantage. One thing though, you're the judge, and we'll all accept your decision.
