I am online everynight~ It's my escape from reality, you might say. Between school, work, and drama, I need to a little fantays.

You can reach me at:
Yahoo ID: alexandra_oconnell

I'll probably be on later tonight, if night tomorrow, but Sunday is taken, I'm going to see the Movie again

I just realized that I went to Prom with a guy that looks like a Hobbit...minus the feet and ears, mind you. He's short, like me, and has longish curly brown hair, and this was before I even read LOTR...forshadowing to my obsession maybe?

You know you've go it when...
In your PSE lessons you are given an egg so that you can learn the responsibility of caring for a baby and you call it Aragorn, your mates call theirs Pippen, Frodegg, Galadriegg, Merry and Gandegg, and your deputy headteacher comments on how lush/gorgeous/handsome/lovely the person who plays Aragorn in the play is and how it was a good name to call an egg. Lol!!!!

avarerniliel 03-03-2002 10:18 PM

Certainly master_of_puppets, you'll find it in my signature (and I congragulate you, you're the closest anyone has ever gotten to writing my name correctly). How do I know I love Tolkien's works? I come here everyday, run my site, read the books, watch the movies and fantasize, don't I?!

Rosa Underhill 03-04-2002 12:22 AM

Firstly, (I know this is shocking, those with weak hearts turn away), I was and still am a "Jurassic Park" fan over LotR. So you can tell I'm obsessed when I do something like this:

(Thanks so much for posting those on the site, Barrow-Wight! Btw, for anyone who doesn't know or hasn't guessed, I also go by the nickname 'Razz'.)

Elvenglass 03-04-2002 12:32 AM

Yeah I know I'm obsessed...I spend roughly two hours on here every day...my brother is getting worried about me. Also when I write papers at school and they go something like this.." And the Russian Revolution was significant beacause......Tolkein....fellowship...middle-earth....cormamin lindua ele lle....preciousssss." And they all just go into this big LotR rant. It's great! And then I snap out of my trance and say something along the lines of "Aw crap I did it again!!

Starbreeze 03-04-2002 02:04 PM

Language! Really! lol

Rosa Underhill 03-04-2002 02:50 PM

But crap isn't really a swear word. Legend has it that the inventor of the modern flushing toilet was named Thomas Crapper. So the word is just a slang abreviation for his name.

Starbreeze 03-04-2002 02:56 PM

Ok, Elvenglass is forgiven!

Nilaraniel 03-04-2002 08:28 PM

I believe "Crap" is also a detergent for washing clothes in one of the Arab countries...It's generally not frowned upon anyway.

Wow who would have known my uncouth language would have started such a discussion! I thought of more things that show that I have tolkienitis. I persuade my friends to join the barrow downs and I refuse to call them anything but there elvish names. I myself will not answer to anything but Niere Alasse and Elvenglass. Do you think there's any hope for me? I doubt it. oh well!

I am so incredibly guilty of that it's not even FUNNY! But I have this one pic of him where he looks like he has pointed ears...hmmmmmmmm....

Ms. Took 03-10-2002 12:03 AM

My friend and i composed a tune for "the road goes ever on and on" and we sing it as we walk to school in the morning.
I quote the movie and the books all the time
I'm trying to learn elvish, but all i can do right now is mutter a few words, but i'm working on it.
i listen to the soundtrack all the time
I write odd little poems about ME in class
My friend and i call our evil teachers Nazguls.
theres more, but i don't care to write it right now.

Joy 03-10-2002 12:06 AM

ElvenGlass, is your name Joy also??

Kalimac 03-10-2002 12:24 AM

It's a little late for this one, but for the previous topic, Thomas Crapper was also the author of an autobiography called "Flushed With Pride." Whether he meant it seriously or not is a secret that died with him, alas.

Being obsessed with LOTR...obsession kind of implies that you think about NOTHING else, which isn't the case, if nothing else my job puts paid to that. (Auto claims adjuster, fun, eh? Three thousand things that have to be done immediately, all the time). On the other hand, I have found myself occasionally thinking of lines from LOTR when working on a claim that goes bad (usually something along the lines of, "Ah, so you have chosen the way - of - pain!") The meaning is a little different, though, since in that case I'm experiencing quite as much pain as anyone else involved.

Starbreeze 03-10-2002 12:40 PM

You know you have it when you eat, slepp, drink, live Tolkien!

Teleliniel 03-10-2002 07:28 PM

I know I've got it bad because:

-I dress up as an elf and my friends run through the woods wielding weapons
-I have gotten chewed-out by a friend over my obsession
-The only music I listen to is Enya and the LOTR soundtrack
-We am planning to see the FOTR re-release in full costume (and if they make us check our weapons at the door, we are going to recite Gimli and Aragorn's speech to Hama outside of Theoden's hall)
-My answering machine message is partially in Sindarin

Starbreeze 03-11-2002 03:27 PM

Wohoa! You got it bad!!!!

Nilaraniel 03-15-2002 04:46 PM

Teleliniel, you reminded me of when I was in the 9th grade and we were reading Lord of the Flies...some kids went out one night in scraggly clothes and ran around the island with big sticks and rocks. They just happened to come across a pink plastic pig in someones garden that they took, beat with the sticks, stuck it with a stick and then paraded around chanting the bashing, killing chant.
Wow something was wrong with those kids...

My school books are covered in Tengwar! Honestly, someone I have never spoken to before walked over to me a couple of weeks ago and said "Are you the girl who believes in hobbits?" I was like, omg, people are starting to know me for that! I'm also known as "The Crazy Lord Of The Rings Fan"

I was saving up for an MP3 player but my need to join the fan club was too great. Oh, well. I've been learning Sindarin. Actually, I was doing a Spanish exam on 'My City' and I couldn't stop thinking of Boromir. I actually ended up writing Gondor instead of Glasgow.

Luv,
Louise
