Bingo!

Tinuviel Took 05-16-2003 03:09 PM

Who is M.B.?

Eruanna 05-16-2003 03:25 PM

Would that be Morgoth Bauglir?(The Constrainer)

Tinuviel Took 05-17-2003 06:11 AM

sorry, but no it is not.

Eruanna 05-17-2003 10:08 AM

Ok, how about Meriadoc Brandybuck?

Tinuviel Took 05-17-2003 10:27 AM

Nope not him either. P.S. Are you on every quiz thread? I've seen on about all I've tried.

Tinuviel Took 05-17-2003 10:30 AM

How on earth the word you did not get on that last sentence is beyond me. Ah well, the slings and arrows of outragous fortune.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-17-2003 12:55 PM

Meliot Brandybuck perhaps? Dancer of the Springle Ring .

or maybe, Master of Buckland, who at the time of the war of the Ring was Gorbadoc Brandybuck... I think.

Sophia

Arwen Imladris 05-17-2003 04:41 PM

Marmadas Brandybuck?: A distant relation of Meriadoc Brandybuck

Merimas Brandybuck?: The eldest of Marmadas Brandybuck’s children

Mungo Baggins?: Grandfather to Bilbo Baggins

Tinuviel Took 05-18-2003 10:42 AM

None of those are the person I am thinking about either.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-18-2003 01:34 PM

Mentha Brandybuck- the daughter of Marmadas.

Malva (Headstrong) Brandybuck- Gormadoc's wife, and ancestress of Merry

Eruanna 05-18-2003 02:14 PM

Mimosa Bunce? She was an ancestress of both Merry and Pippin.

And, yes Tinuviel, I am on nearly every quiz thread (Addicted, Moi?)

Tinuviel Took 05-18-2003 02:48 PM

I keep running into the thunder mistress too, but unfortunatly both she and the blond avatared one are wrong.

The Saucepan Man 05-18-2003 07:00 PM

How about Milo Burrows, to whom Bilbo mischeivously gave a gold writing set?

Tinuviel Took 05-19-2003 02:10 AM

No. It is a Baggins, a Burrows, a Bracegirdle, a Brandybuck, a Bunce, a Boffin, or a Bolger. Now isn't that helpful?

Tinuviel Took 05-21-2003 08:06 AM

Need a hint?

Eruanna 05-21-2003 04:36 PM

Yes please.

Tinuviel Took 05-22-2003 04:56 AM

Was not at the long awaited party, and is more than twenty years younger than Frodo.

Eruanna 05-22-2003 03:40 PM

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to either:
Moto, Myrtle or Minto Burrows, each of them born at least twenty years after Frodo and not specifically mentioned at the party.

Eruwen 05-22-2003 03:43 PM

Can you tell us at least which book you can find it in? I have searched all through the family trees at the back of ROTK, and found nothing. Oh, and Eruanna, they were at the party though. Or, at least, that's what it shows on my family tree. That is what is confusing.

Ah-ha....it's Minto Burrows. he was not at the party (thanks for that Eruwen....I'd forgotten about the party guests names being underlined....Minto's isn't...at least not in my very ancient copy of FotR)

Tinuviel Took 05-26-2003 10:52 AM

Erunna is correct, the individual I was thinking of was Minto Burrows.

Eruanna 05-26-2003 12:39 PM

Who is M.S?

Arwen Imladris 05-26-2003 02:10 PM

Sharkey’s Men?

Malbeth the Seer?

Míriel Serindë?

Eruanna 05-26-2003 04:19 PM

Third one's the charm Arwen. Miriel Serindë it is.

Arwen Imladris 05-27-2003 02:05 PM

How about: A.R.

Arestevana 05-27-2003 05:08 PM

*hopeful* (but not very)
Appledore, Rowlie
A resident of Bree, killed in the trouble with Sharkey's men.
Okay, so Rowlie's his first name. Hey, it's all I can find.

Finwe 05-27-2003 05:43 PM

Would it be Andwise Roper? The Gaffer's elder brother?

Arwen Imladris 05-28-2003 03:24 PM

Finwe's got it! Andwise ‘Andy’ Roper is Sam’s rope-making uncle.
Quote:

Why, my grand-dad, and my uncle Andy after him, him that was the Gaffer's eldest brother, he had a rope-walk over by Tighfield many a year.

Finwe 05-28-2003 06:46 PM

Hmmm... all right then, here goes.

E.E.

Samwise Gamgee 05-28-2003 07:48 PM

eomer son of eothain?

Arwen Imladris 05-28-2003 08:12 PM

Éomer Éadig?

Finwe 05-29-2003 02:54 PM

Arwen got it right. Eomer Eadig it is.

Arwen Imladris 06-01-2003 10:19 AM

V.N.

Eruanna 06-01-2003 11:00 AM

Would that be Vardamir Nolimon, son of Elros?

Arwen Imladris 06-01-2003 04:38 PM

Yes! Very Good.

Vardamir Nólimon, Númenor’s uncrowned King: The son of Elros Tar-Minyatur, accounted the second King of Númenor. When the time came for him to inherit the Kingship, he chose not to accept it, and immediately abdicated in favour of his son, Tar-Amandil.

Your go!

Eruanna 06-01-2003 05:30 PM

Thank you.

Who is E.S?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 06-01-2003 06:12 PM

Elwe Singollo, Thingol's Quenya name?

Eruanna 06-02-2003 06:07 PM

'Twas Old Greymantle, indeed.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 06-02-2003 07:12 PM
