Sorry about the delay, I was computer-less for two days...anyways, that's correct! Wow; I was sure no one would get that quote.

You're up.

Lindolirian 06-09-2002 09:01 PM

Y'all prolly know this one, but i think its funny so here goes:
Quote:

I don't keep water in my pockets.

Joy 06-09-2002 11:25 PM

I believe that was Frodo in the Chapter "Three is Company."

Lindolirian 06-10-2002 01:27 PM

Good job Joy.

Joy 06-10-2002 09:45 PM

Who said,
Quote:

Is it thus that we speak to our kings?

Lindolirian 06-15-2002 10:43 AM

Prince Imrahil?

Arwen Imladris 06-26-2002 03:37 PM

Joy?

It has been a while so how about:

"Ooh! The long expected party! So how is the old rascal? I hear there's got to be a party of special magnificence."

This quote is from the movie

Lómelindi 06-26-2002 05:42 PM

Quote:

That has to be Gandalf. It sounds like one of the many things he said to Frodo when they were riding in the cart on the way to Bag End. As I recall, Frodo followed it up with, "You know Bilbo...half the Shire's been invited," or something along those lines.

Arwen Imladris 06-26-2002 09:51 PM

yup

Lómelindi 06-26-2002 10:57 PM

All right then...who said:

Quote:

Take now this Ring, for thy labours and thy cares will be heavy, but in all it will support thee and defend thee from weariness.

Arwen Imladris 06-27-2002 03:30 PM

Cirdan said that to Gandalf.

Daniel Telcontar 06-27-2002 03:33 PM

beat me to it!! I have just re-read that part a few minutes ago, and I was overcome with joy when I discovered I could use my knowledge on it here. But you came first, and you are correct, so please proceed, that I might get my honour back.

Lómelindi 06-27-2002 07:57 PM

...And Daniel beats me to telling Arwen Imladris that she's correct. You know what to do next.

Arwen Imladris 06-27-2002 08:26 PM

Sorry!

How about:
Quote:

Do you know how the Orcs first came into being? They were elves once, taken by the dark powers. Tortured and mutilated: a ruined and terrible form of life. Now...perfected: my fighting Uruk-Hai. Whom do you serve?
This one is from the movie as well.

Lómelindi 06-27-2002 09:22 PM

::grins, puts on her best Lurtz impression:: Saruman…!

That worked well: the response and the answer were the same.

Arwen Imladris 06-29-2002 07:24 PM

Yup!

Arwen Imladris 07-13-2002 02:46 PM

O.K., noone has posted in a while so if you want how about: Who said:

Quote:

All right! You don't mind if I eat, do you?
This one is from the movie.

Samwise 07-13-2002 06:38 PM

Um. Bilbo to Gandalf?

Arwen Imladris 07-14-2002 06:02 PM

Yup! Your turn!

Sorry, I can never come up with hard ones, I will have to get your question right and then I will come up with a hard one. Hmmmmm, something from some little known of letters or something.... Hmmmmmmm..

Lothiriel Silmarien 07-29-2002 10:22 PM

Ok, who's turn is it now?

Samwise 07-29-2002 10:34 PM

Mine...I think.

Quote:

"Greivous is our loss, yet we must needs make up our mids without his aid. Why cannot we decide, and so help Frodo? "
Who said it? (hoping she's not taking anyone else's turn...if so she'll withdraw the question, so to speak).
Quote:

"Queer things you do hear these days, to be sure. " said Sam.

mark12_30 07-30-2002 05:55 AM

Didn't Boromir say that?

Samwise 07-30-2002 07:19 PM

No, ma'am, that t'wasn't it. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/schmoll2.gif
Quote:

"They do say they are going to the harbours, out away beyond the White Towers." Sam waved his arm vaguely: neither he nor any of them knew how far it was to the Sea, past the old towers beyond the western borders of the Shire.

Musnud 07-30-2002 07:44 PM

Legolas?

Samwise 07-30-2002 07:54 PM

Yep. It was indeed Legolas. Go ahead an' post a new quote!
Quote:

"Me, sir!" cried Sam, springing up like a dog invited for a walk. "Me go and see Elves and all! Hooray! "he shouted, and then burst into tears.

Musnud 07-31-2002 09:16 AM

Who said, And raspberry jam and apple-tart?

Lothiriel Silmarien 07-31-2002 12:36 PM

Must have been one of the hobbits! Ok, let me take a guess...was it Pippin?

Lindolirian 07-31-2002 09:05 PM

One of the Dwarves in the Hobbit. ummmm..... I know Bombur wanted the porkpie, so its not him, but I know it was one of the B names. Bifur maybe?

Lothiriel Silmarien 07-31-2002 09:26 PM

Oh yeah!!!!!!! In Bilbo's house in The Hobbit!! It was a hobbit thing to say though!

ArwenCharis 07-31-2002 09:52 PM

you are right, Lindolirian! (I looked it up cuz I was curious)
Pray, do another quote for us to guess...

Lothiriel Silmarien 07-31-2002 09:57 PM

Hey, welcome to the Downs Arwen Charis!

Musnud 07-31-2002 11:23 PM

Yes, quite right, Lindolirian.

You're up!

Lindolirian 08-02-2002 03:49 PM

Yippee.

Quote:

Thank you sir, though I do not know your name.

Musnud 08-03-2002 12:40 AM

It sounds rather like Merry. Was it when Dernhelm gave him a ride?

Lindolirian 08-03-2002 10:55 AM

Correct

Musnud 08-04-2002 10:32 PM

Who said?

I have been too busy with this and that to heed all the crying and shouting.

Samwise 08-05-2002 01:11 PM

Mmm....Bilbo?
Quote:

Sam stood sullenly by the pony and returned no answer. Bill, seeming to understand well what was going on, nuzzled up to him, putting his nose to Sam's ear. Sam burst into tears, and fumbled with the straps, unloading all the pony's packs and throwing them on the ground.

Lothiriel Silmarien 08-05-2002 05:02 PM

Oh yeah, Samwise, Bilbo's reffering to the people who were at his door, before his big party. I remember now!!

Musnud 08-05-2002 05:56 PM

Actually, that's incorrect. It's not Bilbo...

Samwise 08-05-2002 06:19 PM

Hm.....
*wonders where he put thinking cap*
Quote:

At that moment from far off the wind bore to their ears the howling of wolves. Bill the pony started in fear, and Sam sprang to his side and whispered softly to him.
