Frodo never killed anyone in the War of the Ring?

Re: My last post on this topic.

Please ignore the above. I hadn't realised that there was more than one page, and so was guessing at the last one posted on Page 1.

Re: My last post on this topic.

Only Frodo didn't get married?

So the Universe is not as you thought. You better change the way you think, for you surely cannot change the Universe.

Odd man out continued...

Frodo was the only one with less than ten fingers?

"A little people, but of great worth are the Shire-folk. Little do they know of our long labour for the safekeeping of their borders, and yet I grudge it not."</p>

Telchar 10-31-2001 02:49 AM

I'll give a new one:

Thranduil
Gloin
Denethor
Bilbo

Beregond 11-12-2001 07:39 PM

Denethor didn't live in a hole, or cave in the ground?

Telchar 11-13-2001 03:26 AM

Nope thats not it!

Elrian 11-14-2001 08:49 PM

Denethor, he wasn't at the Battle of the 5 Armies.

Telchar 11-15-2001 02:02 AM

Nope

HINT: Family

Turambar 11-15-2001 08:53 AM

Denethor didn't have a close relative in the Company?

Bilbo didn't have a close relative in the Battle of Pelennor Fields?

Telchar 11-16-2001 02:39 AM

Yor are getting pretty close turambar - but Im surprised that you wont call Denethor and Boromir Close relatives

ScuzzleButt 11-16-2001 02:54 AM

how about denethor's son was the only member of the nine walkers to die?? Or Bilbo's Heir was the only member of the company not to be a direct relation?

Telchar 11-16-2001 04:13 AM

HINT: FOTR - Book 2 Chapter 2

The Barrow-Wight 11-16-2001 06:47 AM

I'm not going to look it up, but I thought I would say that I would have guessed what Scuzzle said... about Bilbo the only one not being a father.

Oh! Welcome to the Downs, ScuzzleButt!

Hmmm It's so seldom that we see you in here BW so I'll give it to you The Precise answer was that Only Bilbo didn't have a son present at the counsil of Elrond - Proceed, please

ScuzzleButt 11-16-2001 03:13 PM

yes, I'm quite new. Ok, heres an easy one

Denethor
Pipin
Gandalf
Aragorn

Elrian 11-16-2001 08:53 PM

Denethor was not a member of the Fellowship
didn't smoke
was not at the Council of Elrond

Pippin was younger than 33

Gandalf was not from Middle Earth

Aragorn was raised in Elven lands

Did I get one

ScuzzleButt 11-17-2001 03:48 AM

ummm, no but you are no where close, Think of something each had in their possesion, at one time or another.

Elenhin 11-17-2001 05:57 AM

They all held a palantir (even if only for a short moment), but Gandalf was the only one not to look into one.

ScuzzleButt 11-17-2001 06:26 PM

bingo, we have a winner.

Pippin 11-19-2001 08:34 AM

sam wasn't at Bilbo's party? it doesn't say so in the family tree's, where all supposed party guests are underlined.

Elenhin 11-19-2001 09:36 AM

Turgon
Finwe
Feanor
Finrod

Turambar 11-19-2001 12:33 PM

Probably too simple, but -- Finrod had no wife, or child?

Kin-strife 11-19-2001 01:32 PM

Feanor eas never a king?

Telchar 11-20-2001 02:17 AM

Finwe was not killed in Beleriand?

Elenhin 11-20-2001 10:03 AM

These are all good suggestions, but it's a bit trickier. Turambar's suggestion was on the right tracks.

Think of the women in their lives (not necessarily wives).

[ November 21, 2001: Message edited by: Elenhin ]

Gwaihir the Windlord 11-20-2001 10:35 PM

Finwe was the head of the Noldor.

Turambar 11-23-2001 04:48 PM

Was it that only Finrod did not lose a woman he loved, as Turgon lost Elenwë and Finwë and Feanor lost Miriel?

Elenhin 11-24-2001 05:45 AM

Yep, that's it.

In Finrod's case it was actually other way around - Amarie didn't go to exile, and so she lost him.
(Just by the way, does anyone know whether they got married after Finrod came back from exile through Mandos?)

Telchar 11-26-2001 02:48 AM

Frodo - the only one with only nine fingers - or the only one that could speak end understand elvish (to some degree) - or for not producing a bloodline heir.

Turambar 11-26-2001 07:28 AM

Fingon
Turgon
Fingolfin
Isildur

3 of them did something in a certain way, the 4th is not recorded to have done so.

Turambar 01-06-2002 07:46 PM

Try this one, Telchar - it never got answered. It's not a very good one but give it a try.

Telchar 01-07-2002 06:50 AM

I've seen this one before - and I cant seem to get about it...

well - Isildur didn't cross the Grinding Ice og Helkaraxe, but thats too obvious. and He was never High-King of the Noldor.

on the other hand Fingolfin was the only one to be burried???
Give us a hint master

Turambar 01-07-2002 08:21 AM

It's not a great Q because it has a "subjective" element but 3 of them are renowned for doing something in a certain way and the 4th (hopefully !) is not.

Telchar 01-07-2002 08:28 AM

Im at a loss - but I am looking forward to your later revelation of the answer

Turambar 01-07-2002 09:01 AM

I'll just give the answer and we can move on to a better question. Fingon (rescue of Maedhros), Isildur (rescue of a fruit of Nimloth) and Fingolfin (challenge to Morgoth) all undertook a heoic act, ALONE. Turgon is not especially renowned for doing so (at least I don't think so.)

Ask one, Telchar !

Telchar 01-08-2002 04:32 AM

Hmm the word resque came to mind, but it didnt fit fingolfin that well, as for heroic hmmm Yes well I always thought it pretty heroic when Turgon Marched to the Nirnaeth, risking the secret of his hidden city... But OK it still was a good question

Try this one:
Tuor
Elrond
Dior
Celegorm

HINT: it has nothing to do with Family and bloodline.
