Olorin_The_Grey, that was correct. They're close was Merry.

As for the last question "You better keep you feet..."
That was Frodo in response to Sam as they were leaving the Shire. But originally, it was Bilbo speaking to Frodo.

The_Elf_Girl 03-31-2002 05:51 PM

Ok, here is a new one.
Who said this:
I think I´ve broken something.

Joy 03-31-2002 09:38 PM

"I've think I've broken somehting." That is Mr. Merridoc Brandybuck.

The_Elf_Girl 04-01-2002 05:42 AM

Yes Joy,that is correct.

Olorin_The_Grey 04-01-2002 07:31 AM

Try
It is prescious to me

Joy 04-01-2002 09:08 PM

Olorin_The_Grey, your quote "it's precious to me" is Isildur after taking the One Ring. He wrote this is the journal that Gandalf read.

Falco loamsdown 04-04-2002 03:47 PM

Anyone know who said this? "...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."
--------------------

was it bilbo?

Alcarinque 04-06-2002 02:23 PM

I'm actually not sure, but... isn't it that (talking about the movie here... not the books) when Frodo and Sam are leaving the Shire, Frodo says to him something like "Bilbo is always saying...

Quote:

"and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."?

Correct me if I am mistaken, but then it is Frodo who said it, although he was quoting

TheBlackRider 04-07-2002 04:49 PM

That is none other than Bilbo. I think he says it in the Hobbit also but he tells it to Frodo.

Losthuniel 05-23-2002 06:55 PM

can i post one? o well, ill do it NEways
" to sheep other sheep no doubt appear different. or to sheperds. But mortals have not been our study." itsa easy i guess, but w/e.

silme-ranaa 05-24-2002 07:32 AM

It's Lindir in Rivendell.

Lady Ancalima 05-24-2002 02:34 PM

I know this was a long time ago...but I just want to clear this up...
Quote:

But thats not from FOTR book or movie.
Actually, it was from the book. It was in Bilbo's speech at his party.

Losthuniel 05-24-2002 04:29 PM

yupyup. now u post 1.

merlilot 06-25-2002 12:00 PM

Hmmm, been a while...free game!

OK:

Quote:

My dear *** , your pack is lying by your bed, and you had it on your back when I met you.
Who to whom and where?

Alchrivëwen 06-25-2002 01:05 PM

pippin to merry in the houses of healing

merlilot 06-25-2002 07:32 PM

Yup. One of my favourites. You should hear me say it.

Cathelm 06-26-2002 04:41 PM

I've got one that I thought was funny, but that might just be me.

"I don't know how you feel with a small rag-tag dangling behind you; but the rag-tag is tired and would like to stop dangling and lie down."

Who/What/When/Where?

merlilot 06-26-2002 06:53 PM

Meriadoc Brandybuck to Gandalf the Grey while riding Shadowfax away from Isengard at the end of Book Three, or part one of The Two Towers, if you prefer.

Brildagniriel 06-27-2002 07:38 PM

The Quote was: "...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

That was said by Bilbo first, and is quoted by Frodo in the movie when he and Sam are walking through a field.

New Quote:
"Are we lost?"

Cathelm 06-30-2002 10:12 PM

Yep! That's right!

Here's another one (I don't have the books with me, so there's a slight difference):

"No Sam, you can't come with me. Soon you will have Elanor to care for, and soon after that you shall have Frodo-lad, and Rosielass, and Pippin, and Merry, and still others that I cannot yet see."

Who/What/When/Where? (and does anyone know how he knew?!)

merlilot 07-01-2002 06:52 PM

Frodo to Sam on the way to/at the Grey Havens when Sam goes "And I can't come." or something very similar to that.
And Frodo had known Sam since he was 21 and Sam was 14. After so many years, you begin to figure stuff like that out. Of course Sam was gonna name a kid after Frodo, he told him so, whan naming Elanor. And Sam is the kind of guy to name his kid after his wife and best friends.

Shire Trivia: Who was the Hobbit famous for having a lot of kids that Sam had more than? In other words, which one that had a lot of kids had less than our beloved Samwise?

MaladyMirkwood 07-02-2002 10:19 AM

the swept off one was bilbo want it? and frodo said "remember what Bilbo used to always say"
Maladdy

Anorien 07-07-2002 10:23 PM

Hey~I've got one!
"That will soon be cured. You have shown your usual cunning in getting up just before a meal".
Oh, and can anyone guess who said my signature???

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 12:08 PM

Pippin said it to Frodo after Frodo had been healed in Rivendell.

About your sig, is it Gimli?

Mrs. Frodo Baggins 07-30-2002 09:18 PM

This should be pretty obvious, but it popped into my head and wouldn't go away:

Quote:

They come in pints? I'm getting one!

Eärendil 07-31-2002 03:02 PM

Pippin to Merry at the Prancing Pony, of course! That´s one of my fave quotes.

Arie 07-31-2002 03:51 PM

hmmm ::nods:: yep that was mithrandir

Jeli Baggins 09-04-2002 03:28 PM

Quote:

"...and if you don't keep your feet there's no telling where you might be swept off to."
That was the end of Bilbo's little speech thingy to Frodo, and Frodo tells Sam when he says "This is it"

ok here's one.... "We must get off the mountain!"

Jeli Baggins 09-04-2002 03:29 PM

oopsz! 4got there was 2 pages! pay no heed to that last entry by me! (unless you want to answer who said that quote!)

Alaggaeriel 09-04-2002 04:56 PM

Quote:

ok here's one.... "We must get off the mountain!"
Is that Boromir? Or maybe Aragorn?

LeGoLaSz gUrL 09-04-2002 07:20 PM

I think it was Aragorn............im pretty sure.

Salix 09-05-2002 08:42 PM

Boromir said it in the movie
Quote:

BOROMIR: We must get off the mountain! Make for the Gap of Rohan and take the west road to my city!

ARAGORN: The Gap of Rohan takes us to close to Isenguard.
I'll spare you the rest of the conversation. Here's my quote
Quote:

Aye, it's a weed.
Easy.

Ringwraith Number Two 09-07-2002 09:53 AM

I think it was Samwise Gamgee when Aragorn asked him to find some athelas/kingsfoil, after Frodo was stabbed at Weathertop.

Salix 09-07-2002 10:36 AM

Yup. Go ahead.

Ringwraith Number Two 09-07-2002 11:58 AM

A rather easy one:
Quote:

We might succeed in roasting Pippin alive inside.

hobbitlass 09-09-2002 12:39 PM

Frodo was telling Sam what Bilbo always says about "keeping your feet".

hobbitlass 09-09-2002 12:45 PM

oops, I too forgot there was a second page

merlilot 09-10-2002 04:48 PM

Frodo to Sam when Merry and Pippin were captured by Old Man Willow

Ringwraith Number Two 09-11-2002 11:46 AM

You are right, merlilot. Carry on

elengil 09-15-2002 06:23 PM

Just as an asside, "they're close" was also uttered by Legolas near the end...followed by "I can feel it" (shudder.. brings back bad highschool memories..)
