Pippin?

Ringwraith Number Two 09-08-2002 12:49 PM

'Fraid not, Lothiriel Silmarien.

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-08-2002 01:15 PM

I remember reading that quote though! I just can't remember who said it.

Arie 09-08-2002 04:37 PM

ok since no one can get that-try this it's more like part of a song in the book though:
"The world was fair;the mountains tall in Elder days before the fall"

This seems like an easy one...hope you get it!

Bruce MacCulloch 09-08-2002 07:43 PM

Sam to Frodo regarding the sounds of Faramir's men fighting the Southrons.

Arie, you need to give people a bit more time to answer a question or to verify correct answers before jumping in with a new question.

Bruce MacCulloch - you are right

Arie- I believe your quote came from the verses that Gimli chanted in the halls of Moria ( A Journey in the Dark, FOTR ).

Samwise 09-09-2002 03:32 PM

Or, Arie, could it be Legolas?
(Sigh...not that she really knows...just sounds like an Elfy-chanty thing)

Bruce MacCulloch 09-09-2002 10:19 PM

Who said this one - and what was the situation?
Quote:

It's a trap!

InklingElf 09-10-2002 07:08 PM

'tis Gimli's song-book IV specifically

Arie 09-10-2002 07:12 PM

Samwise:sorry no it wasn't Legolas
RingWraithNumber2:You were almost correct-good try
Sorry for rushing everyone!

Samwise 09-10-2002 07:57 PM

'Sokay, Arie.

Bruce MacCulloch 09-10-2002 10:51 PM

It's still my turn - and no one has answered my quote.
- Arie, if you must ask a quote, either answer one first so that it is your turn to ask, or start a new thread, please.

Eärendil 09-11-2002 12:36 AM

Bruce MacCulloch, it´s Sam, when he and Frodo is in Shelob´s "hole".

InklingElf 09-11-2002 04:32 PM

Thank you Arie
Here's a new one people:

"Malice eats it like a canker, and the evil is growing"

Arie 09-11-2002 04:37 PM

ok Bruce-I'll do that...
InklingElf-wouldn't that be Faramir?

InklingElf 09-11-2002 04:44 PM

aaah!yes it is Arie.
can you get this one? Or anyone else that's posting here?:

"We always seem to have got left out of the old lists, and the old stories."

::smiles::I like this forum so far

Bruce MacCulloch 09-11-2002 09:30 PM

Inkling Elf, it's actually Eärendil's turn, since he got my question right.

Eärendil 09-12-2002 02:02 AM

Thank you Bruce.
"We are the servants of Saruman the Wise, the White Hand"
This is an easy one.

I think it was Uglúk, Eärendil.

Eärendil 09-13-2002 02:17 AM

Yep, you´re right! Your turn.

Ringwraith Number Two 09-14-2002 07:52 AM

OK. Here's another:
Quote:

What is that that you bear, kinsman?

Brinniel 09-14-2002 09:25 AM

Hmmm. Was it Faramir?

Ringwraith Number Two 09-14-2002 11:11 AM

'Fraid not, Brinniel.

Samwise 09-14-2002 11:57 AM

I would have guessed Faramir, too.
Um...Theoden?

elengil 09-14-2002 12:03 PM

What is that that you bear, kinsman?

Wasnt that Aragorn to Halbarad?

Ringwraith Number Two 09-15-2002 02:57 AM

Yep, you're right, elengil! Carry on

elengil 09-15-2002 06:13 PM

"Now I understand what seemed so strange to me!"

merlilot 09-17-2002 06:47 PM

Inklingelf: your quote is Pippin to Treebeard.

And I think the other one is Boromir at the Council, but I could be wrong.

elengil 09-17-2002 09:35 PM

merlilot

And I think the other one is Boromir at the Council, but I could be wrong.

If you mean mine, then no.

.... mine is actually pretty hard...

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-18-2002 12:38 PM

Elengil, was yours said by Sam or Frodo?

merlilot 09-18-2002 02:48 PM

Wait, wait, wait!

Was it Faramir to Frodo and Sam, regarding what they told him...?

elengil 09-18-2002 02:51 PM

It wasnt frodo, sam OR faramir.

Samwise 09-18-2002 03:14 PM

Oi, elengil....Haldir? Lindir? Uh...I'm grasping at straws...

Cazoz 09-18-2002 04:11 PM

Was it Eomer?

merlilot 09-18-2002 06:00 PM

Was it Legolas, Elengil?

(and does your name mean star-star?)

elengil 09-18-2002 08:43 PM

Ok perhaps it was a bit *too* hard so I'll narrow it down....

It is in the first half of RoTK. It's spoken by a person while in the city of Minas Tirith. That should narrow it down a bit...

(and yes, it means star-star... slight mix-up while translating.. it was supposed to be day-star.. ah well)

Bruce MacCulloch 09-18-2002 09:59 PM

Quote:

Now I understand what seemed so strange to me!
That would have been said by Pippin regarding Denethor and the Palantír.

elengil 09-19-2002 11:16 AM

Ah I knew I shouldnt have given out so much in my hint. LOL good job.
