Nuranar 12-03-2002 07:35 AM

Aww, Kalimac! I feel so special!

And yes, I am a she.

Over the summer I didn't really have Internet and this semester has been crazy, so for the last couple of weeks I've just been posting in a couple of places. I'd be posting more, but I don't have my books with me... Oh well!

amyrlis 12-03-2002 03:04 PM

Just ran into a post by another by-gone soul - The Lorien Wanderer. I wonder what happened to him?

Not sure if I'm popular enough, but maybe you'll be adding me to this list soon. On Friday I am leaving my job, my home and everyone I know behind to move across the country. (thanks to uncle sam!) Who knows when I'll have a computer up and running again - but hopefully it's quickly enough that no one will even miss me.

Birdland 12-04-2002 01:17 AM

Does anybody remember Nar?

Estelyn Telcontar 12-04-2002 01:21 AM

Yes, Birdie, indeed I do - always enjoyed reading her posts. I hope she's not really gone...

Susan Delgado 12-04-2002 01:50 AM

Daniel Telcontar. Kate (One White Tree).

burrahobbit 12-04-2002 03:16 AM

Kate is in the chat room all the time.

Susan Delgado 12-04-2002 03:22 AM

Sure, but I'm not.

burrahobbit 12-04-2002 04:09 AM

Who are you going to blame for that?

Samwise 12-04-2002 05:49 PM

*Coming in from the garden, not sure wether to wipe his eyes with his handkerchief or the dirt off his hands...*
My goodness, such a lot of fuss! Miss Eruwen tol' me about all this talk, an' I couldn't believe it, so I came t' see for myself.
Well, I hope(s)he dosen't mind, but I'll tell you a bit about Mr. Frodo. Moved across th' country, y' see, or at least partways. (S)he's in college, too. On top 'a that, (S)he an' I have been tryin' to solve a little...erm..problem...

Stacey: PROBLEM?? Samwise, the PROBLEM is that you can't keep yourself out of trouble...

Sam: Eh...well, hopefully I'll be out of it, soon. It's "that time of year", again, too--what with present buyin' an' wrappin' an all...OI! I think I need to go lie down...

Stacey: Silly old Hobbit...

Tigerlily Gamgee 12-05-2002 01:42 AM

Good to see you again, Samwise. Nice to see that you are still keeping your watch on Mr.Frodo! Sorry for talking about you when you weren't here like that, but I did fear you had gone. I guess you just got a little busy with the garden.
Do you know if Frodo plans on passing here again?

vanwalossien 12-05-2002 08:15 AM

I miss Gimli son of Gloin. I never knew him, but his posts were great. If you really left, I'd miss you Samwise!

Neferchoirwen 12-05-2002 10:40 AM

I thought I saw Nar somewhere...

...and it's great to see Sam in here again!

Elenna 12-05-2002 02:16 PM

Here's who I miss...

Gayalondiel! Rosa Baggins! Daniel Telcontar! Manelwen! Gimli Son of Gloin!

I miss you all!

Child of the 7th Age 12-05-2002 02:35 PM

I know Nar posts regularly on Littlemanpoet's writing site.

Sharon

Samwise 12-05-2002 08:21 PM

Sam:*snuffle* Thank you, Miss Tigerlily, an' you too, Nef. I'd actually been missin' you, too. Speakin' of missin', I miss Mayla Took. Had some good conversations with her...
Actually, I'm busy with two gardens at th' moment, an' I've got no more room to plant an' Miss Stacey's next door neighbor goes an' digs up more bulbs an' gives 'em to me!

Stacey: I didn't see you trying to refuse them, Sam...

Sam: Well, no...er ...anyhow, it's my job to keep tabs on Mr. Frodo. Though I haven't heard from him or Miss Cahira myself in a few days.....possibly they've got finals at school 'r somethin'.

I'm not gone, I just didn't feel the necessity to announce a rather hectic time in my life that would prevent posting. I'm just coming out of that stage, I hope, and I may be persuaded to resume my monthy two-sentence reply. Just look, I've already outdone myself. See you all next month.

And I miss Gothmoga.

Kalimac 12-05-2002 11:36 PM

Hey, Samwise lives .

Nuranar, nice to see you back. I know what you mean about losing the internet - I did as well for a while over the summer and the sad thing was what a severe withdrawal it was.

Marileangorifurnimaluim 12-07-2002 02:15 PM

Hi guys! Good to hear from you. I've been prodded away from my fanfiction for a little bit (sorry, not LotR-related). No, I'm not dead. Or, well, am still dead. Er. Something like that. 156 pages and finally done. Now editing, but I think I've overworked my Beta-reader: she seems to be broken. Around sixty people have emailed me praise and accolades. I am a review-addict now. An original character people asked about has taken off with a few black humoured short stories of his own. What can one do?

Oh. Looks like I've been on the Downs a year now. Happy death-day to me.

Love,
Maril

Amanaduial the archer 12-07-2002 03:22 PM

Happy death day Maril!

Lush 12-07-2002 03:46 PM

Daaaamn Maril, it's always good to see you're still among the dead and the disturbed. Post often, chica, we need a regular dose your black humour just as much as your characters do.
*twitching from withdrawal*

Raefindel 12-07-2002 06:17 PM

I miss Firladion Greenbow, Nufaciel, Glenethor, Auriel Haevasawen & Starbreeze.

I e-mail Samwise so often I guess I don't feel like she's been gone, but I do miss seeing her on this site.

Nuranar, I'm glad you're back.

Gilthalion, I'll keep you in my prayers.

Susan Delgado 12-07-2002 06:44 PM

Oh, Greenbow...what a guy.

Samwise 12-07-2002 08:05 PM

True, Miss Rae, very true...

Oh! Mr. Greenbow! I'd forgotten about him--shame on me! We had some good talks, he an' I did.

Birdland 12-07-2002 10:07 PM

Happy Deathday, Marileangorifurnimaluim!

Hey, Tomorrow is my Deathday. You've only been dead one day longer than I have. And here I thought you had been around forever when I joined.

I wonder how many members have been around for that one year since the first film came out? (Yes, I'll own up. I started checking out Tolkien boards when they were hyping the film.)

Kalimac 12-07-2002 10:11 PM

Happy deathday to Maril, happy deathday to Maril... (maybe you could have a party like Nearly Headless Nick?)

Birdland - I admit it; I too didn't get into Tolkien forums until the movie came out; I actually discovered this site in December and lurked for a good bit before taking a deep breath and signing up.

I KNEW I was forgetting someone - Firladion Greenbow! The Robin Hood re-enactor, very nice guy. Though the costume must have made him stand out in the crowd...

Child of the 7th Age 12-08-2002 02:56 AM

Raefindel,

You said you missed Auriel Haevasawen, but she is very much alive and active. She is playing a Warg down in the Shire in an RPG that Pio and I have--the Long Winter.

That sometimes seems to happen. Folk start off posting mainly in one forum or area, and then switch to another. So you may think they're gone, when they're just realocated!

Bęthberry 12-08-2002 11:10 AM

Happy Deathdays, Maril and Bird. )

I started a Tolkien party RPG half a year before the movie came out, on a general site, so I can't truly say that the movie brought me out. More like the death of my first online forum adventures, in XFiles realms.

Raefindel 12-08-2002 12:43 PM

Really, Child? I'm glad Auriel's still here, though I still miss her.

Happy Anniversary Birdie and Maril!

Elenna 12-08-2002 02:06 PM

I am going to miss Cimmerian, who has just left.

Amanaduial the archer 12-08-2002 02:11 PM

Yeah, Elenna, Im going to miss Cimmerian alot. Conan was one of the best and for me and you, one of the first.

Lush 12-08-2002 03:46 PM

Cimmerian left, eh? I didn't know him at all, but it's a shame when energetic people such as he abandon ship. Then again, I'm not particularly surprised by his departure.

Susan Delgado 12-08-2002 05:06 PM

I'll miss Cim too. He it was who first coaxed me into the RPGs.

Ithaeliel 12-08-2002 07:17 PM

I miss Losthuniel, Rosseiliantiel and OrlandoandSaran. Great RPGers and friends, those three... it won't be the same without em.

Child of the 7th Age 12-08-2002 08:08 PM

Ithaeliel,

But Losthuniel isn't gone. She has a regular character Celandine the Hobbit who role plays in The Long Winter in the Shire.

And, yes, she's lots of fun!

(Maybe The Long Winter is the lost and found department for the Downs. That's the second missing person we've located there!)

sharon

Susan Delgado 12-08-2002 08:10 PM

Rosseil is still around. She posted in my RPG just yesterday.

Durelin 12-10-2002 06:00 PM

Shanna, she's funny and she's my best friend. She got kicked out though, by the Barrow Wight. Don't kick me out BW! Just because she is my friend doesn't mean I have the same...character...opinion...loudmouthness (new word)...I'm gonna miss her! Don't hurt me BW! Don't hurt me! I'm a nice hobbit in a RPG! Don't hurt me!

Check this out: Muffin Films

It's hilarious!

I miss Tirned Tinnu (haven´t seen her around for a while). I always liked her fantastic, insightful and interesting posts.

Gilthalion 12-11-2002 12:06 PM

So many new folk and old folk that an old hobbit's head fairly swims!

(Prayers much appreciated, reciprocated, and proven efficacious!)

I am up and about now, and a somewhat thinner hobbit than when my adventures with the surgeons commenced. I'm of half a mind (some would say that is my usual state) to take a picture of their orcish healing procedures. Tomorrow I return so that they may remove the hideous Frankensteinian staples from my belly!

My long-suffering soulmate, the Mrs. Gilthalion, promises unguents and remedies that will eventually remove much of the scarification. Her tender ministrations of ointments should thus remove the worst of a long scar that is now stapled from above my navel to near my nethers!

Internally, all is well enough. I have little enough of my hobbit-like appetite however, and may never regain the extensive waistcoat I've lost in the course of this adventure.

I thank you all for kindly remembering me, though it has been long since I could participate in the RPG forums (which I am delighted to have had some role in starting), and longer since I could participate in the other forums. My last article for the website was "Saruman" and I've really not done anything of a creative nature since then. (Except in small theatrical writings and performances for my Lord, for which my new thinness and long hair leaves me better suited.)

I have immensely enjoyed the Extended DVD and hope that the rest of you have as well.

After the first of the year I will be seeking new employment, and cannot answer for my time. Until then, I will try to pop in here and there and nose about a bit.

Thenamir 12-11-2002 09:36 PM

Gil! So glad to hear that you are doing better. This is the first I've heard of your ills, and shocked I was to hear of their severity. However, you have been in my thoughts often and I continue to pray for you and yours. Mosey on over to Rohan and see what has become of the quality RP you started for us so long ago. Glad to have you back!

I am going to miss Cimmerian too.

Though I have never taken part in any of the threads and rpgs here, I always enjoyed reading them. I found the rpgs featuring Cimmerian, Amanaduial, Elenna, Nevtalathiel and all else who played with them, the most interesting reading. They were always so full of life and adventure.

This is my first, and sadly, last post.

Farewell.
