Lush's I hate to come off as a nymphomaniac, but... in the Books Forum...
|
Thanks. I guess if this Forum needs its official pervert, the Mods needn't look too far. I personally think that "A Rough Draught of a Topic" is the coolest name ever.
|
I second the nomination for Middle-Earth AirForce.
And I nominate hold on to those rings started by the Phantom. |
I'm not quite sure if this is right to nominate. It's not exactly a thread name, that's a link provided by Belin but I liked the nomenclature he chose very much:
this fine and interesting thread it is to be found here and refers to The Professor as Scholar thread (by the same author and also worth nominating BTW) [ November 11, 2002: Message edited by: HerenIstarion ] |
Thanks to Cudae and to Birdland. A compliment from a barrowdowns member is a compliment indeed!
Like VanimaEdhel, I also like Lush's nymphomaniac thread starter. And for some reason Arwen Melian's topic, happy elves, really struck me funny. |
This is not a thread, per se, but Belin sent me a pm with this title: "Entertain us, slaves!" I think it's great
|
New nomination!
Elves don't belong in Valinor? by Keneldil the Polka-dot. Hear, hear - that got my attention, and it actually applied to the topic. I'd also like to nominate Lush's nymphomaniac thread name, but it violates the friends and family clause. -Maril |
Nympho is not a dirty word. It actually has some nice connotations.
I second the vote on the new Elves thread, because it certainly got a lazy @$$ like me to read it. |
*looks around nervously*
Totals Thenamir, Elenglin, BW, Nar, the Phantom, Vanima Edhel, Keneldil the Polka-dot with 2 votes each for single topics. Kalimac with 2 votes, divided between two topics. Lush with 3 votes for a single topic. You know who with 5 votes, divided between three topics. Thirty-six others with single votes. The Academy rests. Self-nominations were not counted. Topics mentioned without the author's name were not counted, unless referenced elsewhere on the list. *laughs madly* [ November 22, 2002: Message edited by: Rimbaud ] |
You sound like Hagrid with that you know who, Kermit... (sp? )
|
I haven't even looked at the thread, but there is one titled: "Never mind answering, its just a test"
Now this may not be too funny but considering it has two pages I can see that the title's instuctions weren't followed. hehehe |
HI strikes again (never mind when it was started!)
|
Tulkas, it's just simple psychology Instruction of the "don't do this" kind is temtping people to do the opposite (and I heard Adam disliked apples, and Eve had allergy to them ...)
Rimbaud, I have 2 votes now, la la la... |
Actually, it was just someone's signature/avatar test. It's turned out quite funny because of all the testing, then the responses that have come from it...check it out. I would certainly vote for it!

What about Smile when you say that, Gimli! by Birdland; a thread about Gimlis dwarwish line in the extended version of FotR.
|
|
Several New Subsections Required By Cranky Old Windbag by Kalessin.
|
Most of my choices have been mentioned already several times, but I'll say that Baran's "Gandalf a Madman?" has a certain snap to it. Not long-winded, but attention-grabbing nonetheless.
Thanks, HerenIstarion . That's what you get for listening to Original Broadway CDs while websurfing. Maybe I should try it again sometime. |
I have a thread from the movies section by Birdland to "nominate".
Reviews - Good, Bad and Indiffferent Come on, tell me I'm not the only one who hears Ennio Morricone music when I see that. The good, the bad, and the indifferent *freaky whistle/scream noise—aiyayaya* [ December 22, 2002: Message edited by: Diamond18 ] |
What is the ground speed of an unladen Ent? by Kalimac.
I find the title both funny and interesting, it has a special ring to it. [ January 01, 2003: Message edited by: Eärendil ] |
What would we do without Monty Python?
|
Dwarin Thunderhammer, Roll Out the Barrels. Appropriate, fun, and comes with its own tune. And reminds you of The Hobbit.

I would like to nominate Mr. Underhill's "Silmarilion Screams" in the Movies Forum for the nice alliteration and sheer attention-grabbing power.
|
All hail Lindril Arvilya for the super silly:
One Flew Over the Crebain's Nest A new name for the ever popular "What are some other movies that the actors have been in?" type thread. |
Here's a lovely new title on the Movies forum:
One Flew Over the Crebain's Nest by Lindril Arvilya (edit - great minds, Diamond?? And similar tastes, apparently...) [ January 11, 2003: Message edited by: Estelyn Telcontar ] |
One of my favourite ones is
"Smile when you say that, Gimli!" , started by Birdland. Very funny, especially because Gimli is supposed to look grim and definitely not funny. (I wonder why they made such an idiot out of him in TTT?) |

Shagrat and Gorbag.
Does anybody want to make bets? Oh, just so it doesn't look like I'm hijacking this thread and posting off topic (*shifty eyes* Who me?) here's a nomination: Dr. Saruman, or how I learned to stop worrying and love the Ring. by Balin999 [ January 15, 2003: Message edited by: Diamond18 ] |
Yippiieee, thanks Diamond!
If there is anything that we need, it's a little praise now and then, my precious Oh and the post with the idiot (Gimli/Pippin) makes me think of sth. (Thread soon to be found in "The Movies) [ January 16, 2003: Message edited by: Balin999 ] |

Ooh la la, Lúthien... by our dear old Lush. (It´s posted in Books.)
I have to say that the title and thread got my attention, and after reading the thread, made me laugh. Maybe that´s just me? |
The South (Farthing) Shall Rise Again! by Gilthalion is far and away my recent favorite. A daughter of the Confederacy am I, and it warms the cockles of my heart to see the tribute paid to our history for such a worthy Cause (i.e. getting together Southern Barrow-Downers.) *tips hat* My compliments, Gil!

I need serious help! by A Dwarf Friend...really catches your attention, 'specially when you think they are going to talk about mental issues...
|
My fave is Smile When you say that Gimli. I think the best one I came up with was Seeking asylum? Sorry we are racist... as it was at a time when the problems of asylum was at a high here in the UK.
|
Just saw this one...
Uruk Hai Anti Defamation League, started by lindil. |
Hand me my sword and my teeth, would you Frodo? by VanimaEdhel.
- Maril (yes, I'm still dead) |
Hey,
I'd have to agree with you on that one,Maril. Oh and P.S. I like your name! (hehe) It's a mouthful! |
