If the fish shies away from the Gondorian, does it surprise you?

I see...

Lady_Báin 08-06-2002 04:52 AM

If you jab the chest of a Rohirrim with a sharp stick, do not be astonished when she uses her hammer to wound you with many* wounds.

well what does that mean.?! That i should stay away from sticks?! Or Rohirrim might beat me with a hammer??

Davin 08-07-2002 10:26 AM

I don't like the thought of Nazgul in my front yard right now........

"Tis better to have loved an lost than to have been exploited by an Uruk-hai."

Yes, I suppose that is true...

Dimaldaeon 08-13-2002 12:38 PM

Malbeth once warned me that the dragons were coming to the blue mountains.
In a fan fic i'm writing the main character lives in the blue mountains and the dragons don't like him.
Oh no look out Ceangál.

Drunk I got, dead drunk,
When the rotting Ent was with me:
Best is the banquet one looks back on after,
And remembers all that happened.
- Malbeth the Seer -
Hhhhmmmm... I don't drink, so I don't know what that would be... But if I have any rotting Ents in company, I should stay away from all kind of drinks, I guess...
HHhhhmmm... Am I going to a banquet soon? Coolish!

I disagree. Some parties are best obliterated by alcoholic amnesia.

Mine for today is:
Quote:

Congratulations! A strange dweomer is wound about you, and no Beorning of woman born may ever do you harm. But be wary if you meet a warrior armed with a scimitar of Westernesse whose hood is purple, for all may not be as it seems!
Wise words there.

Today's Prophecy for November-born
8/18/2002

I perceive that you take great pride in your jeweled circlet, so I say to you: Beware of your haughtiness! For even while you admire your own reflection in the still waters, a foul vapor rises from your arms, and Men and donkeys flee from your stench.*
- Malbeth the Seer -

What?! I have BO or something?! *Runs off to buy a bottle of perfume - Valinor's Finest*

And I wish I had a jewelled circlet.

A lost treasure lies behind the cabinet. Clean your room once in a while!*
- Malbeth the Seer -

Ok...when even Malbeth thinks I ought to clean my room, maybe it's a sign. *looks around...can't see her carpet*

Salix 08-21-2002 06:44 PM

When Halflings smack Rohan, its time to move.*
- Malbeth the Seer -

Um, is it just me, or does Malbeth not like people born on Christmas?

Amanaduial the archer 09-03-2002 01:03 PM

Amanaduial the archer 09-03-2002 01:24 PM

whats a helcaraxe? just wonderin...

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-03-2002 01:32 PM

It's the Grinding Ice, when Feanor led the group of elves to Middle earth (him and some others took the ships),and the rest had to go north and cross the Helcaraxe. Here's the definition of it in The Encyclopedia of Arda:

Quote:

The perilous icy wastes that formerly lay between Aman and Middle-earth in the north of the world. Fingolfin and his people made their way into Middle-earth across the treacherous wastes of the Helcaraxë at the beginning of the First Age.

The knowledgeable can manage a horse,
the offensive a flock,
The Half-elf be a doughty fighter,
To have greed is better than to burn on a pyre:
There is nothing the can do.
- Malbeth the Seer -

That is really true...... i feel so enlightened.....

Rosseiliantiel 09-08-2002 09:03 AM

They always come true because they're so cryptic they could man almost anything.

Seek for the mace that was broken. Look for the mace that was lost. Search for the Elf that has spoken, and ask what a new one will cost.

Hmm...

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 10-17-2002 07:38 AM

I think all that predicting must have been getting to Malbeth by the time he came up with this one. Either that or the translator was having a very bad day.

Quote:

I couldn't keep this gem to myself:
Quote:

Well, incidently the first part is right...but seek comfort in the marshes?!

- Malbeth the Seer -
Hmmm...I think Malbeth must get around. "With sisters seven I slept, my will I worked with them all"?! I didn't do a thing meanwhile! I know, this must mean that I am lazy.

In the Misty Mountains, a wizened Gondorian weeps while he waits for the Day of Doom. Seek him there, even though it be a journey of many days, for he holds the key to thy destiny. You will know him by his bushy hair, the axe he carries, and his battle-scarred throat. Who can say what dread secrets he may reveal to you? But if you dare to learn his wisdom, be sure to ride upon an unshod eagle to the hill where he dwells, or he will merely mistrust you and you will not profit.
So essentially I'm going to meet the lumberjack version of Rod Stewart? I'm going to avoid those mountains like the plague.

Is that a fortune or a command? And do you guys have a spare axe? I'm considering following Malbeth's advice, but I don't have an axe...of course, I'd like to know what would happen if I did what Malbeth told me to do...

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 02-19-2003 03:06 AM

It's a command, VanimaEdhel; and since it comes from the great Malbeth, you must needs obey it.

You can use mine. It dates back to the English Civil War: Three new heads and five new handles and it's still going strong.

Did you for one moment doubt it, Estelyn? I certainly didn't. The clue is in these lines:

After the wildest beauty in the world,
Which lies not calm in eyes, or braided hare,
But mocks the steady running of the hour"
