I thought the charcter was an elf or has the dwarf made an appearence? Im confused!!!

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-29-2003 04:46 PM

So am I...Angalos is a human. The only elf so far should be Helka's character, and the only dwarf should be Rosfin, who we haven't met yet.

Mattius 01-29-2003 04:53 PM

I think they have posted a mistake in which case after reading this they will probably change it.

I was thinking about posting but seeing as though you are online at the same time Aylwen you can go first if you would like.

Soon after this was posted I left for tae kwon do, lo ciento! Though I shall post tonight after soccer.

Helka-Please don't forget to disable your sig .

Orual-Please try not to quote on the actual game thread. Copying and pasting someone's words is okay, but try not to quote. But Jadae's been quoted! WOW!

Aylwen

Edit: Reminder for everyone, (even myself! Don't forget!! ) Spell check, please! If you have Word or another program of the like, type your post there first, then copy and paste after checking spelling.

Helka- Master Rosfin of Erebor is our only dwarf. We haven't met up with him yet, but even so, he is a:

Quote:

Dwarf of the Lonely Mountain, bard and loremaster to King

Maybe this will help a bit:

Mattius-Jack Strife, a Guard.
doug*platypus-Rosfin of Erebor, a loremaster and bard. ((Where are you, doug?))
Orual-Arethin, a worker/laborer.
Ithaeliel-Angalos Stormaxe, a trader with the Elves of Mirkwood.
Helka-Anuion, a ranger (right? Or did I get mixed up?)
Aylwen-Jadae, a smith.

So, we have not met Master Rosfin yet, but we should soon. Keep in mind that Jadae, Jack, Arethin, Angalos, and Anuion have never met before the game started, save maybe they have seen each other once or twice (It's a small Middle-Earth after all!). Don't forget everyone to read all the posts before your own. You might miss something important if you don't.

Okay, I'm done.

Helkahothion 01-30-2003 01:26 PM

Okay, I don't mean to single anybody out, but I enjoyed reading your last post, Orual.

On to 'The Rusty Hilt'! I think I'll post tonight after Tae Kwon Do practice. Tomorrow's the state compeition and I can't miss practice . If not, I'll post tomorrow afternoon.

Don't forget sigs and spelling (I promise I won't say that too many more times!). Good job everyone.

Where are you, doug?
I'm here! Just waiting for a while to introduce dwarf-boy. So that there's a little departure from the norm of first posts, I thought I'd let the quest develop a tiny bit and ambush you all on the way out of town, or on the way out of The Rusty Hilt or something.

My character saw a notice in The White Horse in Rohan notifying about the quest. This might not be very realistic, though, so if there is no note in an Inn, he's probably just been lurking about behind the forge. Be patient, and don't wait. Expect me when you see me.

Helkahothion 02-01-2003 04:36 AM

As long as you don't scare Anuion when you enter,

He could missinterpent things and cut of a sertain peace of hair is you follw be, beggin your pardon.

I prsume the "The rusty hilt" is the inn where I am staying?

I assure you that I probably WILL scare your elf when I appear. Most of the fair folk seem to become a little nervous, and perhaps self-conscious, when around Durin's people. Some of them even exhibit a curious form of beard envy, probably as a result of the feminine nature of all but a few examples of elven males.

Is there an existing description of the Rusty Hilt? If so, can someone please post it? Cheers.

Aylwen Dreamsong 02-01-2003 08:53 PM

The Rusty Hilt is Mattuis's creation, and yes, it would be helpful to post a description of the inn/tavern/pub....

Beard envy?

We have a beard debate going on! But it is no wonder so few dwarves marry.

It also seems that our new friend Angalos has taken a wrong turn!

hey yall, sorry i havent posted for a bit but i will right now!!

matt

ps, this rpg is going great!

Orual 02-02-2003 06:27 PM

Okay, I have a couple of questions: a trivial question and a more serious one.

The trivial question is this: Aylwen, how do you pronounce Jadae? Is it -day, or -die? I'm inclined to say -day, but I know that in Elvish the -ae is pronounced like -ie. Then again, Jadae isn't an Elf. This isn't important, but it's bugging me...

Okay, serious question. What are the limits of "bunnying" or "godding" or whatever, on this RPG? On my other major RPG, Nurumaiel's "A Hobbit's Gift," the rules are basically don't have any drawn-out dialogues and try not to make other characters talk at all. Just so I don't break any rules, what are the guidelines for this game?

Namarie and many thanks,

~*~Orual~*~

Aylwen Dreamsong 02-02-2003 06:45 PM

Orual-To be honest, I can't remember where I saw the name, but I have been pronouncing it Ja-day. I like names that start with J.

Quote:

When you graduate to Rohan, you can experience more independence, exercise your creativity more
I'm not sure if this refers much to what we're talking about, but I'm not going to say that you can't let Jadae or Jack talk during one of your posts. As long as you don't take them out of their character or move them around too much. If that makes no sense, sorry . What I mean is, don't go too far with another character, but you can post dialogue between your character and another, if you take my meaning.

I'm sure if you do something that I (or the character you use's owner..person.... ) object to, you can always edit.

Hope that helps...

Orual 02-02-2003 08:16 PM

Thanks, Aylwen! I was just wondering. I don't want to break any rules and get people upset with me on my first Rohan RPG!

Oh, and by the way, please don't take my question on bunnying as a complaint--everybody's take on Arethin seems right on. I was just asking for future reference.

Namarie,

~*~Orual~*~

Aylwen Dreamsong 02-03-2003 03:49 PM

No problem, Orual. On that note, if any of you do find an interpretation of your character "unsuitable", please let the person who posted know. Then they can edit! After all, they can't fix it unless you say something!

Mattius, if you had a description of the Rusty Hilt, it would certainly be appreciated.

So, we are still waiting on Angalos and Anuion to join Arethin, Jadae, and Jack in the pub...right? Then doug can finally introduce Rosfin to us.

Aylwen

Mattius 02-03-2003 04:02 PM

Well, I don't really have a clear idea about the pub so everyone can just go with the flow!!!

Aylwen Dreamsong 02-03-2003 04:12 PM

I'll post later tonight after rehearsal.

OK,

I'm with the group. About the inn. Maybe we can make it a happy bar. With pink wallpaper and little cute ponies everywhere. THe we should probably rename it to the "The cute prancing pony".

How about purple wallpaper with pink flamingoes on the border?

Orual 02-05-2003 05:59 PM

After talking with Mattius, we agreed that I could post this description of the Inn that I'd come up with.

A smallish Inn, cozy, old-looking and careworn from lots of visitors. Upon entering the inn the bar would be to one's right, and the kitchen out of sight behind it. On the left would be tables and benches, and a fireplace on the far left wall with an armless chair in front of it for passing storytellers or musicians (armless to make it easier to hold an instrument while sitting). The walls are sparsely decorated with paintings of Dale by local artists.

So there you have it! A description of the Rusty Hilt.

~*~Orual~*~

Aylwen Dreamsong 02-06-2003 06:27 AM

Orual~Thank you for coming up with the description! Good job (Thanks for leaving out the pink flamingoes!)!

doug*platypus~Your post was well worth the wait, I must admit! Very good post for Rosfin!

Sorry for my lack of posting; this week has been a living nightmare... something every night!!! Plus, my dad's been working a lot and I don't have my own internet yet, so I haven't had much opportunity at all to get on.

Anyway, Angalos is now at the tavern/inn/etc., and I hope my bringing Rosfin more into the tale wasn't too intrusive. But we can leave anytime!

Thanks y'all,

Angalos

Dear God,

After reading of this latest development on the discussion thread, I did think it was a bit... presumptious. I knew that someone would do it. I personally couldn't see what was wrong with one of the party having a slightly different introduction, and was going to follow along behind for a little while first.

But after reading the post on the RPG thread, I changed my mind a little. While not in the exact words I would have used for him, that was pretty much something that the dwarf would do - he's a little bit eccentric. I had to laugh when he burst out of the shadows and stormed over to the group, especially since he's only a little over half their height! I think we'll keep going from there. At any rate, that was a great post Ithaeliel!
