9.5!

Faye Took 01-05-2003 09:52 PM

I'm going to have to say a 9. I loved it though, I really did. The battle scenes were AWESOME! Hehe

MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie 01-05-2003 10:58 PM

Well as of alaklondewen's post, TTT stands at an average of 8.768292683. Hmmm, it got better. The range is still 4 (LePetitChoux's idea). Well, either I don't know how to do standard deviation, or I forgot how to (probably forgot). So LePetitChoux, if you want to, you can be in charge of doing that.
Thanks for the votes again.

Beren87 01-05-2003 11:01 PM

As a movie in general -11
From A tolkienites perspective, 7.5
Minus points for the incredible number of mistakes. Plus points for battle scenes, casting, and special effects.

Jeli Baggins 01-10-2003 03:40 PM

10 all the way!!!! Oops sorry, I forgot we could only say the number....

Luinalatawen 01-10-2003 09:58 PM

TTT is an 8 with the book and Tolkien's story in mind, but a 10 as a movie overall.

Magician of Nathar 01-10-2003 10:31 PM

9.5
Everything are pretty good. I actually enjoyed the changes in the plot line. It's very interesting. The acting was splendid, the special effect was beyond belief, and the music was divine! (oh Howard Shore i worship you!) The only revolting thing was the editing. I know it's hard to edit such a lengthy and large work, but at least you could link all the scenes together properly!

Dimannûnien 01-11-2003 08:20 AM

10 without a doubt. It's what's made me look at Tolkien websites for the last week when I'd never been near one before.

ElentariGreenleaf 01-11-2003 08:34 AM

9 cause of da lovey dovey stuff. THE WAR WAS GREAT! 10 for that! 10 for graphics
Over all: 10!!!!

Thingol1000 01-11-2003 08:45 AM

9.8

Luinsewiel 01-11-2003 08:54 AM

I think 6 (because of the changes in Elrond, Faramir, and killing Haldir)

HCIsland 01-11-2003 07:32 PM

9
The changes don't bother me at all. Film is a very different medium and I can understand pretty much all the changes that were made (well, Faramir was a bit edgier then I would have liked).
The only thing really stoping me from giving a 10 is how absolutely powerful the breaking of the Fellowship was at the end of the first film. As a climax, it was far more moving then in Two Towers. I don't think TT could have matched that.
H.C.

Faramir Fan 04-24-2003 01:40 PM

8.5...and it would have been a 10 if they had portrayed Faramir properly...

Estanesse 04-24-2003 01:57 PM

I give it a 4
I think the TTT movie is a disgrace to the book
[ April 24, 2003: Message edited by: Estanesse ]

The Saucepan Man 04-25-2003 09:34 PM

Just to redress the balance, I'll give it a 9. My reasons are scattered throughout these threads.

Iarwain 04-25-2003 10:05 PM

Hate to be the rebel, but my opinion stands.
3
It would be even less were it not for the wonderful work with Gollum, and Sam's interpretation of hope in Middle-Earth. However, I fear these two accomplishments were lost amid the shallow plot changes and unnecessary side stories, and the fact that the film ended with half the story left untold.
Iarwain

MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie 04-26-2003 01:21 AM

Actually, I'd like to change my vote to a 5 (it used to be an 8). I don't know why because when I first thought 8, I was still extremely angry over the changes and all. But now, I've calmed down a lot (and I do mean a lot) and I want to give it less.

Arvedui III 04-26-2003 06:07 PM

herm, 8.5 - 9

BigEyedDwarfilatti 04-26-2003 07:17 PM

I feel stupid with everyone voting so hi but I would have to say 7.5 i loved it though I just judge it by the book with the understanding that it cant match it otherwise the score would be lower.

Schmendrick 04-27-2003 03:49 AM

Can't believe I haven't voted yet!
I have to give a 7, was very disappointed with it (in comparaison to the FOTR, which I loved). The scenery was great, though.
Hope they'll do a better work with the ROTK!

Lyra Greenleaf 04-27-2003 05:04 AM

This is so hard. I have to agree with someone (I can't remember who) who said that as a film, it's fantastic. As a "Film of the book" it was pretty bad. What with Faramir and everything...
Well, I promised myself I would think of it as a film in it's own right without comparing the two anymore sooo-
9.5

Phervasaion 04-27-2003 06:03 AM

Id give it a 9.

elven maiden Earwen 04-27-2003 09:43 AM

Angadraug 04-27-2003 10:58 AM

I'd say 8 also.

Elennar Starfire 08-12-2003 12:56 PM

7.5

The Only Real Estel 08-12-2003 01:01 PM

7.5 The changes don't bother me as muich as the fact that the movie just wasn't put together all that greatly (I deleted my last post so don't yell at me, & sorry for the explanaiton, but I had to ).

Arwen Eruantale 08-12-2003 09:21 PM

hanna_gamgee 08-12-2003 11:17 PM
